Breakfast at Cascades.. Resort at Squaw Creek, Lake Tahoe 6/6/2021
    Grey R.

Cascades Sunday 6/6/2021 Breakfast Tremendously enjoyed amazing breakfast spread at Cascades on a Sunday morning following my arrival to Resort at Squaw Creek in Tahoe. Reminded me of Sheraton's breakfast & brunch buffet in Rome, Italy. Cibo molto gustoso! It's all about freshness, ambience, presentation. Molto saporito! Cheeses & fruits to begin with.. strawberries, pineapple, honey dew.. smoked salmon slice with a dab of chive-onion cream cheese, fresh cucumber slice, capers.. without the bagel, no carbs! Laughing, let's see if I have enough willpower:) Whet that appetite! Omelette station! Freshly cooked savory omelets & eggs over easy.. or scramble, in front of your very eyes.. mmmm, delectable! May I please add a piece of bacon to that! Pancakes & waffles at the chef's station, cover them in blueberries, add strawberries, these are my yummy toppings, skip the syrups & caramels! Freshly squeezed grapefruit & a cup of French press Java please, no cream! Morning started.. A cocktail, anyone?! Here are your buffet choices at Cascades: Fresh Start Fresh sliced seasonal fruits, whole fruit baskets Selection of assorted cereals, house-made granola Seasonal yogurt parfaits, oatmeal, Chef's daily smoothie Charcuterie & cheese platter Smoked salmon with accompaniments, bagels Chef's Station Chef's daily special omelets & eggs any style, made to order Breakfast potatoes Bacon & local pork sausage Pancakes, waffles, assorted toppings Chocolate, maple syrup, caramel topping Baker's Oven Selection of freshly baked Danish pastries Breakfast bread Fresh baked muffins Daily baker's pastry choice Assorted croissants Cream cheeses Orange marmalade, strawberry jam Selection of juices, freshly made coffee, and gourmet hot tea selections, cocktails, french press, or specialty coffees The honey bee that fetch the nectar from the flowers to the comb Never tired of ever buzzing to and fro Because they take a little nip from every flower that they sip And hence (And hence) They find (They find) Their task is not a grind Ah, ah, ah!

Warm sticky buns. The best I've ever had!

Best breakfast buffet I've had! They had so many options, and all of the food was great! I made sure I tried some of everything. Sticky buns: Show stopper, a MUST HAVE. I had like 3 of these my first day there, and had no regrets! They're warm and have just the right amount of cinnamon. I can't even find the right words to describe this heavenly dish. French toast: Perfectly cooked, another must try. Waffles: Were a little cold and not crispy at all. I didn't even finish the quarter piece I took. Scrambled eggs: Great! Bacon: Crispy, soft, you can have your pick! Smoked salmon: It was really good the first day, but didn't seem fresh the second time in. Omelette bar: I don't think its possible to go wrong with a build your own omelette place that has about 15 topping options! Pasties: The cheese danish was good, buy my favorite was one that had a sweet filling and powdered sugar on the top. Probably had a hint of cinnamon too. I couldn't stop having them. Frittata: the usual. Oatmeal: Tried to be healthy, so I had some of this, definitely made the right decision. Strawberries: Some were fresh some weren't, but I guess that always happens.

Located on the bottom floor of the main resort building, the view is fantastic! We came here because we had a breakfast voucher for the breakfast buffet. The buffet is from 7AM - 11AM so you have plenty of time to fill up before heading to the slopes or whatever big activity you have planned for the day. We went around 11AM on a Sun and luckily there wasn't any wait. Since it wasn't too busy, we were able to request to sit next to the windows (which I highly recommend). Buffet Pricing: $24 Adults / $12 Children *~Fresh Start Station~* Sliced Seasonal Fruit Fruit Baskets filled w/ Apples, Oranges, Bananas Assorted Cereal Hot 9 Grain Cereal House-made Granola Assorted Greek Yogurt *~Chef's Station~* French Toast Omelets & Eggs (Any Style, Made-to-Order) Pancakes (Assorted Candy Toppings, Whipped Cream, and Sweet Breakfast Syrup to top) Waffles Breakfast Potatoes w/ Tri-colored Bell Peppers & Onions Bacon Local Pork Sausage Traditional Eggs Benedict *~Baker's Oven Station~* Fresh Baked Danish Pastries, Muffins, Banana Bread Daily Baker's Pastry Choice White & Wheat Sliced Bread Regular & Chocolate Covered Croissants Wild Flower Honey Comb Regular & Strawberry Cream Cheese Orange Marmalade & Strawberry jam *~Continental~* ($18) An assortment of Fresh Fruit, Greek Yogurt, Hot Nine Grain Cereal, and Pastries made fresh in house *~A La Carte Breakfast~* $24 Adults / $12 Children *Includes Continental Items +2 Eggs (Any Style) w/ Bacon or Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes & Toast +Make Your Own Omelet: ham, Onions, Mushrooms, Peppers, Tomatoes, Spinach, Choice of Cheese +Traditional Eggs Benedict +Buttermilk Pancakes +Belgian Waffles w/ Fresh Strawberries +Cinnamon Dusted French Toast w/ Fresh Strawberries & Sliced Bananas Drinks: Selection of Juices, Fresh Brewed Coffee & Gourmet Hot Tea Selections Mimosa Bar: $12 Bloody Mary Bar: $10 Note: 18% Gratuity for parties of 6+ They have a Make-Your-Own-Bloody-Mary Bar and a Mimosa Bar if you'd like one with your breakfast but it's not included with the buffet. I love how you can customize your omelets (yes, they have egg whites only as well). They didn't skimp out on them and were very thick and fluffy. The waffle was crispy and very airy. The bacon & pork sausages were crispy but not burnt. I also loved the fresh honeycomb as I put that w/ my hot water and on a bit of toast. They had an interesting assortment of toppings (Crumbled Oreos, Candy, Jams, Chocolate Syrup, etc) for your pancakes which were way too sweet for me. Lots of pastries were available if that's what you like for breakfast. A bunch of artisan breads with cold cuts were also laid out along side the fresh fruit. A good assortment of choice that were constantly re-stocked. Dishes frequently cleared and drinks re-filled. Definitely a great way to start the day.

This place gets a thumbs up!

Beautiful views, super friendly staff and relaxing. The home made Pico de Gallo was tasty and went great with the made to order omelettes. Eggs benedict were a little dry but they had lots of other options. They had a very good selection of pastries as well as fruit my son definitely approved.

The Bloody Mary Bar is creative snd delicious!

What a great place for breakfast! The views of Squaw and the valley are amazing. The food is buffet style, and you can also order made to order breakfast items. The Bloody Mary bar is so fun! And Heidi gave us friendly, excellent service!

Desserts: Tasty and the portions were too large. Recommend making the serving sizes smaller to decrease waste. I stumbled upon the horchata and Melon drink dispensers. What a great find. Very tasty and fresh! Service: Our table server was Mauricio. He made the dining experience so pleasant and we felt like a VIP. He was very attentive and served with pride and a genuine smile! This was our first time at this buffet. We were instructed that we earned a one free person meal but after looking at our bill, we did not receive the discount. We were a party of 12 but we were good with being assigned 3 separate tables. They were gracious to keep us in the same area. Thank you. Ambiance: Warm, inviting. The plates were very accessible. Booths were roomy and very comfortable. Recommend: Moving potatoes near the meats area. It was a difficult find. We will return! Thank you for your service. Rondez

I don't know if it was because it was the first day of hot August nights or not, but there was quite a bit of a line. I got up into the line, paid, and went inside..... What a spread! Mexican, Chinese, American, a station where they would make a salad for you, pho, Mongolian BBQ, a Carvery station with all kinds of different choices, including ham, prime, rib, and even sausage. They had a dessert section, including cobbler, bread, pudding, cakes, cookies, pie, large selection of gelato, even cotton candy! They also had a selection of sugar-free desserts. Everything that I ate was amazing. Some of the things, The shrimp were fresh, the Mexican choices were good, I loved the dim sum, and I had both prime rib and some of the sausage. They had both salmon, and trout, and both of those were amazing as well. For dessert, I had a rocky Road gelato, (very creamy with lots of goodies inside...) the cobbler and the bread, pudding. the bread pudding was just the right consistency and delicious, the cobbler was nice and warm. I paid about $41 with the senior discount. If you are a senior or military/veteran, you have it added to your players card, and you qualify for the discount. Definitely worth it for the quality and quantity of the food. An excellent meal. I would gladly come back. Thank you.

I had to stop the flooding myself, getting soaked in dirty water contaminated with urine and feces. Reaching anyone for help was nearly impossible--the front desk and operator didn't answer, and housekeeping took 10 minutes to pick up. After engineering temporarily repaired the toilet that was on its way out, housekeeping barely cleaned the bathroom. They wiped up the visible mess with towels but never mopped or disinfected the area, despite us traveling with children and a baby. I went down to speak with the front desk manager, Kayla Smith at 5:00 a.m. after losing an entire night's sleep, the only compensation she offered was some resort credit. I asked for a late checkout so we could at least get some rest, but I was told the hotel was "fully booked" and couldn't accommodate the request. On a Monday, that explanation was difficult to believe and felt like an excuse rather than a genuine attempt to help. Beyond the great location, the property feels old, poorly maintained, and unclean. Between the lack of responsiveness, inadequate cleanup, and poor customer service, I can't recommend staying at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. There are better options nearby.

OK, there's still an overabundance of food and choice but this time everything looked very unappealing, and like it sat out for way too long. You should read my other previous reviews for comparison. This time I looked over all the offerings first, from one end to the other of the buffer counters. Nothing stood out as a 'wow'. As a matter of fact I had a hard time finding anything appealing. Hmmmm. After a good search I did finally find some veggies- zucchini. It turned out to be way over cooked, limp and also apparently sitting out for way too long. My wee bit of hope was nixed. In retrospect I should have tried the collard greens with ham. The only thing looking somewhat decent were rice dishes and actually they were OK. However when I got some Asian stir fry to go along with it the saltiness made it nearly inedible. The salt level killed all the flavor. The one Asian bun I chose was hard as a rock and very dry. I got a piece of kielbasa at the carvery station. The guy carving was rather abrupt and seemed very disinterested in doing the job. Oh well. The kilbasa was just OK. Grabbing a rib I thought I may have found something worthwhile. Yes, somewhat. Once I got past the fat and grizzle the meat was indeed good. The jalapeno cornbread looked appealing, although presented in chunks way too large that were falling apart in the tray. The piece I had was actually tasty and not greasy unlike my last time getting it. Overall the food was lukewarm at best. The soft serve ice cream was good with lots of topping options, plus I had a small square of a chocolate brownie that was delicious, moist and full of chocolate. My four dining partners couldn't eat more than a small plate and left half of what they got, quite dissatisfied. It's really unfortunate. On top of it the service was nearly non existent. Clearing plates or whatever just never happened. Oh well. I gave it two stars as the price point is truly good and perhaps it's more my picky pallet and expectations than that of others who come here. There was a consensus among us that perhaps eating at the other restaurants might be a better option.
