While working overtime at work, my boss offered to buy lunch for our department. When I first started, this place was a Ray-Bari's Pizza. And it was gross. I was a little hesitant when I realized the pizza was from the place that used to be Ray-Bari's. I was pleasantly surprised. The sauce was tasty and the cheese, while greasy (it's pizza, if it's not greasy, it's probably not good), had great flavor. We ordered it for pick up and it was ready pretty quickly. This was my first experience with New York style pizza and it was everything I hoped for. Thin crust, lots of cheese, light sauce. It was perfect. The sauce has a slightly sweet taste to it, which I love. We actually went back for a second slice the same day, it was that great! So far I've had a slice of cheese, a slice of pepperoni, and a slice of margarita pizza. All were delicious, but the margarita was definitely my favorite. My husband tried the spaghetti with meatballs. He enjoyed it and said that he's bummed he didn't have the time or opportunity to try more things on their menu. I guess there is always next time we come to New York. It's a quick, casual, point and order type of place. Just like in the movies/tv shows. The guys behind the counter are decent, polite, not a lot of interaction but that's not what I would look for in a pizza place anyway. We will definitely be back next time. read more

I was shocked how hard it was to find a late night pizza place in the city that never sleeps! And honestly it wasn't even really that late, 11:00 on a Friday night. After a Yankee game, my boyfriend and I returned to the hotel just starving after getting stadium food earlier in the evening that was not that satisfying. Shocking, right? We tried to find a pizza place nearby and came up short since the majority were closed. A lady at our hotel said this would be open and luckily enough it was. Since we had wandered for a bit looking for a place to eat, we called before walking over and then we decided to just order for delivery. Given that there are so many other options for pizza in the city, if others had been open I don't know if we would have picked this one. But anyway, we landed on a large sausage pizza. It took a long time for it to be delivered. I think it actually arrived at 12:30. I don't know how NY pizza is supposed to be but I would just rate this as decent. It had a thin crust that was nice on the outside but in the middle it was not substantial enough to hold the toppings. It had a nice sauce even though there really wasn't much of it. The sausage was of the delicious, slightly spicy, sliced variety. It was not the sausage crumbles some pizza places use. It was not too greasy and curbed our late night craving. My boyfriend only had one piece though. Knowing him, if it was fantastic he would make himself uncomfortable and force down two or three pieces. Playing games and bullshitting people about delivery times is NOT cool or ethical. Delivery time of 20-30 mins on Grubhub, with actual delivery time of an hour....for pizza. Also playing games by falsely marking the order on Grubhub as delivered 20 mns after order entry, when it hadn't even been baked. I called 30 mns after order just to make sure it was still coming. Told it was heading out the door, which seems like a lie, since it took another 30 mns after that to arrive. Three calls to manage this bullshit. Also the pizza was mediocre. read more

I've had pizza here many times. Some times it's 4 stars and some times 2. The pizza guys working are never very friendly. It's almost like you are bothering them if you order something that is not already premade. But the pizza its self (non premade) is usually really good and worth the hassle. I'm going to keep coming. Ordered 2 grandma slices and given 1 they claim is a new type of grandma slice. What i was given was an old Sicilian with some mozzarella melted on top. Wrong to think a customer wouldn't notice and a call would have been appreciated to give the customer a chance to change or cancel the order. read more

Horrible first time experience. I ordered a Garden Pizza, and when it arrived there was no cheese, no sauce and the item was cold. What arrived was pita bread with salad thrown on top; and not an appetizing looking salad either. When ordering online there was no description of this item except for "lightly dressed" and the fact that it said "pizza". To top it all off they refused to refund me, claiming it was adequately described. This isn't true, and frankly don't call an item pizza it it's not pizza at all. While my usual go to this will be my last time ordering from Cassiano's. Firstly paying almost $10 and receiving essentially three forkfuls of tortellini is horrendous, and this is cheese tortellini. Secondly the gentleman I spoke to on the phone when I called and complained about said quantity did not understand what industry he is working in. Food service is a customer and front facing business. His customers are what keep the lights on and the doors open. If you are into deep-dish pizza, this is your place in Upper East Side. This is one of few places I've found this pizza. The dough isn't buttery though, or unfortunately, for me. I tried the thin Margherita and it was delicious and you can feel the fresh tomato chunks of the sauce. The deep-dish Ranch, Chicken Bacon was good, but I'd like it tastier. The Teriyaki and Buffalo look like their specialty. Definetely, the cashier is indeed very handsome and love to talk about baseball. Looks like an Italian pizzamaker taken freshly from the Boot. This place is great for a lunch stop, ordering a pie to go home or grabbing a quick salad. All of the pizza I have had here is fantastic and their garlic knots and Caesar salads are delicious as well. This place is right around the corner from my office so I find myself stopping in quite often. They have thick crust pizza as well which is delicious! I ordered and was charged for a pizza that never arrived. When I called the restaurant to get a refund I was received with the nastiest customer service. I spoke to a person who said his name was "Basil" which was obviously absurd. The only reason this establishment will get one star is because I could not give zero. Upon ordering from Seamless, I was called 10 minutes later to be informed that what I ordered (cheese tortellini w/ grilled chicken) was not available (on a Friday afternoon at that). Understandably, things happen. I was then encouraged to change my order to either stuffed shells or baked ravioli. Hesitantly agreeing to change my order to baked ravioli I asked to be compensated with a canned soda for the inconvenience (which I believed to be fair, as I did not want stuffed shells or baked ravioli). The woman on the phone then proceeded to tell me "we don't give away free stuff even the manager will tell you that". So I asked to speak to said manager. He shared the same sentiment as I told him I was the Front Office Manager of a boutique hotel around the corner from them (which I normally would not do, but as a manager I know when things go wrong you should attempt to make these things right). This was not done whatsoever. Would not recommend this establishment to my guests in the future as I have done in the past, nor will I myself frequent it. With there being no shortage of pizza joints in the area you would think a simple courtesy such as a canned soda for the inconvenience would be offered without having to explain the amount of people I send to the establishment. 2 thumbs down for Manny's customer service and managerial conflict resolution. read more

These guys are truly lazy. Their location is less than a mile from me and they call me 30 minutes after I place my order that I'm too far. Seriously? I ride my bicycle to work 6 miles one way which takes me around 30 minutes yet you can't cycle .8 miles to my building? It should take you no longer than 5 minutes by bicycle to get to me. Everyone needs a dive-y, no-frills go-to pizzeria in their neighborhood and I have found mine in midtown east near my office. Of course, there are nicer, better and more tourist-attractive places you can go for the "best" pizza in New York but then you keep the real local New York pizza joints for yourself. I was out doing a Duane Reade run and decided to pick up lunch to bring back to my desk. I actually tried 2 other places, one of which was closed and the other one had a funky smell so walked down the block to Cassiano's, my 3rd choice. I decided on spaghetti and meatballs, nothing more Italian (or actually Sicilian) than that! I walked past what looked like 10 different kinds of pizza pies on display looking pretty interesting but I was bent on getting my spaghetti. I am usually not a pasta person. I prefer rice as my starch of choice but today I wanted this and glad I did. The spaghetti was already cooked but the guy reheated it vigorously in the pan with the sauce like a pro. He ladled 3 whole meatballs on top of the piping hot pasta and the order was handed over to me in 2 minutes. This kind speediness is very important for those in a hurry which is all of us in New York. The portion is too much for the average eater. I ate half and will have the leftover tomorrow. Not bad for $8.50! Admittedly, the pasta is nothing special but i think the meatballs and sauce are homemade and tasty enough. Sometimes old school places like these are called for especially in a neighborhood where it's hard to get anything under $10. For me, it's even more economical because I split it over 2 meals. read more

I ordered on Seamless from them for the first time. I love Chicken Milanese and so when I saw it, I decided to get it. It does mention being fried in butter, lemon and parsley, it does not however mention that it'll be soggy and drowned in it. When I called, the guy made no attempt to resolve my issue.
