Besides, for the next (insert the duration of your cruise here) days you'll be eating at the buffet a least once a day. No need to start Buffeting it up before you step foot on the Lido deck. That's what brought us to 5th Ave Bagelry. Located less than 1/2 mile from our hotel, it was an easy walk down the surprisingly un-busy streets of Long Beach, CA at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. 5th Ave Bagelry has A LOT of varieties of bagels. To put a number to it, about 25 different varieties of bagels, all made fresh on site daily. Add to that, 8 different flavours of cream cheese and you've got nearly endless bagel-and-cream-cheese options. To be fair, you're not limited to bagel & cream cheese. They also offer breakfast bagel sandwiches and non-breakfast bagel sandwiches and a few specialty items. Even though it was 9:00 in the morning I was tempted to try a pizza bagel but I resisted. The siren song of a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese wins out every time. (This is a proven statistic. Just ask me.) They also offer an endless variety of coffees in just about every possible fashion (latte, espresso, iced, iced blended). Smoothies, juices, and soft drinks round out a very impressive selection of offerings. The staff at 5th Ave Bagelry appeared to be very focused. While they weren't swamped when we visited, they did have a steady influx of customers. It's an order-at-the-counter-and-we'll-call-your-number-when-it's-ready arrangement which seems to work well for them. All food is delivered in a paper bag. Our food delivery was about 10 minutes and everything was hot and accurate. My iced vanilla latte was exactly the go-juice I needed to jump start embarkation day. My jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese? Chef's kiss. I love jalapeño bagels that present a little spicy heat. The jalapeño cream cheese managed to round out my "Jim loves spicy food for breakfast" life choices. During our roughly 1/2 hour there I didn't see anyone come out from behind the counter to tidy up the dining room, which was needed. I'm assuming they had a pretty intense breakfast rush and just hadn't fully recovered yet, as one of the two trash bins was full. In a perfect world I'd be able to visit enough to try all of the bagels, but home isn't in Long Beach.

We wanted to try the simpler stuff on the menu. We got the just egg and sausage in a plain bagel and just egg and cheese and sausage on a Jalapeño bagel. I can't remember the last time we paid around $20 for a breakfast meal for two. They were both tasty but needed salt hot sauce and ketchup to be added. The best part is they have all this out for you to grab. Once we added it, it was so good. The portion size for the price is incredible. No way did I think I would pay 6.99 for a big bagel, a large piece of egg and 2 pieces of sausage. It was such a great price. Now I am so excited to come and try others. But the prices do jump nearly double, but I think it will be worth it. Check out the menu pics I added to see the prices. It's hard to hear inside. We sat inside to eat since it was very clean and well maintained. They brought us our bagels but I think that was because we forgot to get up from being called. Again it was hard to hear but when the food came out it was all worth it! The jalapeño bagel did not shine as much. It tasted like a plain bagel with no spice even from the bits of jalapeños. This made me wonder if their sweet bagels are different. They recommend the Asiago bagel so maybe I'll try that for the next savory option. Honestly I don't know when they make the bagels but we came around 11am, try coming earlier and maybe the bagels will be fresher. By noon the line picked up, but it never got as busy as other stores around. I'm excited to come back and try the omelet sandwiches and other bagels!

I've been to this coffee shop many times before and have never been treated this way by any of the brothers who work there, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I asked to use the restroom because I genuinely had to go. I was told I needed to make a purchase first. I was already planning on buying something, so I made the purchase. After I paid, I was STILL told I couldn't use the restroom because the employee said she felt uncomfortable. If there is a restroom policy, I understand. But I followed what I was told to do and made a purchase, so I don't understand why I was still denied. I then asked for the employee's name because I wanted to make a complaint. Asking for an employee's name is NOT a threat. It is a normal thing for a customer to do when they want to provide feedback. What I don't understand is why the situation escalated to the point where I was being kicked out simply for asking for a name. That's why I didn't immediately leave. I wanted to explain myself because I genuinely felt like I had not done anything wrong. The dad was the person I was trying to speak with because he was the only one I felt I could have a calm conversation with. I was NOT screaming at him. I was trying to explain what happened. He was explaining their restroom policy, but I don't think he understood that I had ALREADY made a purchase and that there was more to the situation. It felt like everyone immediately took the daughter's side because she said she felt uncomfortable without stopping to ask why or what had actually happened. As a business owner, you should understand the entire situation before making a decision. If your daughter says she feels uncomfortable, why not ask what happened and understand both sides before removing a customer? I eventually left because I didn't want the situation to escalate further. Instead, I was being pushed out while people were recording me and putting their phones in my face. I did not give permission or consent to be recorded, and I specifically said that during the interaction. I was not recording them during that time. But then I did have to record and I do have a recording of the moment when the mom touched me to make me leave, and what I said during that interaction is on the recording. There are also cameras at the busines that can show what happened. I should have called the police when she put her hands on me, but I chose not to. I'm a mom too, and I didn't want to put another family in that situation while emotions were high. I would have preferred for someone to simply take a moment to understand what happened. This was never about who was right or wrong. It was about basic etiquette and customer service. I also looked at the business Instagram afterward and saw that it is Latino family-owned. I'm Latina as well, so it was especially disappointing to feel so unwelcome. I'm a mom and a single mom, and I had gotten very little sleep that day. I'll be honest I did not look put together. I looked tired because I WAS tired. The way I was treated left me feeling like I was being judged based on my appearance. I'm not saying I know what was in anyone's mind, but I know how the interaction made me feel. If someone walks into your business looking tired, messy, or not "put together," should they receive different treatment? Customers deserve basic respect regardless of how they look. After everything happened, I didn't even receive my full refund. The money was thrown back to me in a way that felt extremely disrespectful. I've been here many times and never experienced anything like this. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will never be back and I will never spend another dime here. This isn't about revenge or threatening anyone. It's about basic respect, customer service, and etiquette especially here in Long Beach. I came in as a customer. I expected to be treated with respect. That's it.

They do not cook it in house. It didn't appear to be a brisket although with it being shaved as thinly as it is I don't know if that would help. This is one of those tough reviews because the reality is the atmosphere, the staff and the location are all excellent. The sandwich needs some work. Remember that the Grilled Reuben is the ONLY TRUE American Sandwich. It was created from scratch for the 1942 World's Fair in New York City. It's an original! Treat it with the respect it deserves. And this three star sandwich... of all sandwiches is a hard pass. Sorry. Cassidy's Corner Cafe is absolutely delicious! Since my first visit, I've been completely obsessed with it. I've sampled a few different items from the menu, but my absolute favorite is the Joe's Special on a plain bagel and the Island Iced Latte. There's something about these that just keeps you coming back for more! The location is fantastic, making it easy to drop by for a bite or a relaxing coffee break. The overall aesthetic of the place is also very nice, creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. However, the one and only downfall about this place is the wait time. Was the only one in line. (Only customer) I ordered 2 pumpkin lattes. It took 10 minutes to be made. The coffee content was very mild. (Not the flavor of pumpkin) I mean the coffee taste was watered down. Perhaps the quality of their coffee beans is inferior or both the barista who took 10 minutes to make 2 drinks didn't know how to make a latte. Not coming back. Instead of asking questions (the woman gave me a statement TWICE expecting an explanation--please understand the difference between a question and a statement) apologizing, or trying to help resolve the problem, the employee repeatedly responded with: "So you had a breakfast sandwich and it wasn't the right one." It felt dismissive and uninterested, as though the situation was being minimized instead of addressed professionally. I understand mistakes happen in restaurants. (I work in 2 restaurants- one in Seal Beach and one in Long Beach) What matters is how customers are treated afterward. A simple apology, clarification, or attempt to make it right would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the customer. service I experienced made the situation much worse. It was a $10 dollar loss but a lifetime of a returning customer. I never write reviews- this was absolutely necessary on principle alone. Also- your sourdough bagel was undercooked and disgusting on my Desi.

I often get the drip coffee, which is usually either a colombian or an italian roast, both seem to be a medium roast which is my favorite!! She often gets espresso in some form and always enjoys it, but her favorite is their cold brew. The staff is super friendly and always makes me feel very welcome. I am so thankful for that. This place doesn't try too hard to be a fancy coffee shop. It feels like family owned coffee shop in a strip mall - and I think that's great. Sometimes other coffee shops feel pretentious and boring, but I never feel that way here. Probably the best thing about this coffee shop, though is that they make bagel sandwiches, and I am not exaggerating when I say that their "veggie deluxe" sandwich is easily one of the best vegetarian sandwiches in town (LB and Lakewood). I literally get it at least once or twice a week, and I miss it when I don't get to have it. We are so grateful to have a place like this walking distance from our house, and it truly makes us happy to see them very busy on the weekends!! I believe you can order at the counter or on their digital in store screens. They have a really large selection. From espresso and coffee and bagel sandwiches, to fresh squeezed orange juice, smoothies and acai bowls. They even have ice cream and fanta!! Definitely give this place a shot!

I'm simple when it comes to bagels; toasted with plain cream cheese, but they several other options such as breakfast sandwiches, lunch options, pizza bagels, croissants, muffins, smoothies, shakes, açaí bowls and more! They also carry Thrifty's ice cream if you're looking for a scoop or two of that. A couple of them looked a little icy and possibly frost bitten to me so just be sure to check that out if you do get ice cream here, but it's good to know that is an option if you have a hankering.

The staff are prompt to serve and friendly. The restaurant has a definite old school cafe vibe, with vinyl booths and a counter. Large windows provide great natural light. It is quite spacious. The one drawback is the noise level...this is a popular, busy place, and with all those folks chatting, the noise level is so high you can barely hear your companions. I would seriously recommend noise dampening efforts.
