The food was delicious. We started with calamari strips. Yum.! The remind me of a place in Lake Tahoe. Nice thick strips with tarter AMA cocktail sauce. Then I had the fish tacos with fresh Maui Maui. Came with chips SMS salsa. Their salsa was very good. My hubby ordered the fish and chips. That also was mahi mahi They did something with their fries that maybe has a coating of some sort. W didn't ask but they were crispy! It's takes a minute for the waiter to get to you but once he does he was attentive. We were able to joke around about with him. Castaway Cafe is an old favorite and lovely location, with good service...we have been coming here for years. Unfortunately, the rising cost of food is impacting them seriously, and it's reflected in their offering. My wife and I had brunch at the cafe yesterday. Her omelet was tasty, and the cottage spuds were delish. The wonderful view and strong coffee got us ready for our day, but portions have definitely shrunk. Also noted was that they only served one slice of toast with breakfast, and only one little cube of jam. Seems like this has happened at many spots, but it was VERY apparent they were in rationing mode to a much higher degree than our last visit (May25). Was also disappointed that they no longer offer a happy hour, which was our favorite. read more

This place popped up when searching for a happy hour, but unfortunately, I missed the small window when I called. I decided to try this place out while walking around the resorts in Kaanapali. I happened to stumble upon this place when it opened, which allowed us to have premium seating outside with the gorgeous view of the water. Drinks: POG mimosa. Of course you can't go wrong with this! Main: I decided in pancakes with strawberries, pineapples,and macadamia nuts with a side huapia. This was filling! I had to balance out the sweet with the savory and I ordered some Portuguese sausage to go with the meal. Nicole, our waitress, was fabulous and very attentive. I liked that it wasn't too busy in the restaurant and it had a nice view. Definitely recommend stopping by here if you want a solid breakfast with views in Kaanapali. read more

Castaway Cafe was definitely an awesome find! This place is a hidden gem nestled in the Ka'anapali Villas, and it totally blew us away. The Hawaiian inspired dishes were amazing. We loved that we could choose to sit indoors or out on their lovely patio. The vibe was so chill, perfect for a relaxing dinner. Plus, the staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home. Seriously, we're so glad we found this spot! If you're looking for great food and a laid-back atmosphere, Castaway Cafe is the place to go. We can't wait to come back! We needed breakfast! The food is delicious. It might look like a long line but the order taking is so efficient, it is super fast. The food came out very fast also. We were looking for a place to eat brunch in Lahaina and my cousin recommended Castaway Cafe as he had it the day before and really enjoyed it. Castaway Cafe is tucked away in Maui Ka'anapali Villas. When we arrived, we put our name and number down as there were no open tables. It took about 20 mins for the table to be ready for us. For the table, I ordered the banana bread. This was really good and I liked the tartness of the lilikoi butter. I also liked that the banana bread was not sweet. For myself, I ordered the braised short rib benedict. This was delicious and hit the spot. You will definitely leave with a happy tummy! read more

We went here for breakfast twice while we were on Maui. We were staying at the Maui Marriott and enjoyed the morning walk to Castaways. Even though I've been to Maui many times in the past, it was my first time trying Castaways. It's one of those places that you know is there, but you don't know how good it is. The reason we tried it was somebody else staying at the Maui Marriott chatted us up in the hot tub and raved about Castaway's food. We were not disappointed! We were seated promptly, service was friendly, and the food was delicious. Which is why we went twice. The server was so nice. They even took our picture out on the lawn. Almost like a photo shoot! It's our last night here in Maui and this was my favorite meal :) I wish we'd gone here more! I ordered the fish and chips, sometimes when I order fish and chips they are really greasy and make me slightly nauseous from the batter.. these were perfect! Not greasy at all! I'd compare the batter to a nicely seasoned pancake batter and the tartar sauce was lemony and delicious! I'm from Seattle and these were my favorite by far! Service was great, and it has indoor/outdoor seating. Ps. If you aren't staying in the hotels around it, it may be tricky to find, drive past the golf course into the parking area, park the closest to the walk way to the restaurant as possible as long as it isn't covered parking I believe you're ok. read more

My family and I love Castaways! It's one of our must do's as soon as we touch down on the island. It's a beautiful walk from any of the hotels along Kaanapali Beach.
