Castaways was the highlight of our Long Beach visit. The decor inside is awesome - lots of very cool photos of Long Beach from the past - and the vibes are great. It's very centrally located on the main strip. We ended up sitting at the bar to avoid a wait for a table (the entire bar section is open seating) and the bartender was super friendly. I ordered a steelhead burger with garlic fries off the specials menu and my husband got the Lighthouse cheeseburger. The food came out super fast and was SO delicious. I'll be thinking about those garlic fries for a very long time. The food was hot, super fresh, and so tasty. I cannot wait to go back and try some more things off the menu!

We had a lovely first meal on the coast here. We were quite surprised because we just went here on a whim without much research. My husband a tasty bowl of chowder then fish tacos that were absolutely perfect. My seared tuna bowl was fresh and delicious. The ambience was a bit sporty but everyone was pleasant. Service was sufficient.

Last visit was back in 2013, time for an update. Again, this was our first meal after arriving in Long Beach (6/16/25). Nice to see it thrive after our previous visit 12 years ago. We timed it well because both the bar and restaurant was full house during our onsite meal. We shared their clam chowder. Tasty. I opted for the Club Sandwich with garlic tots. Goodness such a generous entree. This took me three sittings to finish it. The Homie had the Captain's Plate which included cod, clam strips, oysters, and shrimp. All well battered, seafood remained tender, and perfectly executed. This came with sides like broccolini, sweet potatoes, and whipped garlic potatoes. I snagged some bites...wow, flavor packed! Our waitperson was very friendly, checked in on us, and kept us well hydrated. No room for dessert, but we patted our stomachs carrying our takeout boxes back to the car. Great bang for your culinary buck!

The Castaway is a cozy spot that feels warm and inviting when you walk in. Miss Carly was our server and she took great care of us. Tasted their chowder also and it is absolutely delicious! Definitely worth a visit when you are in town.

I had a great dinner this evening, the Ahi Tuna Csfe Salad. The tuna slices were coated in sesame seeds and expertly seared. Beautiful! Gorgeous avocado, diced mango, cucumbers, greens and a sesame dressing. Yum! I got through half of it and will enjoy the rest tomorrow. Lovely server, checked in on us a couple of times, which is appreciated. My sweetie got the salmon and enjoyed it.

Stopped in on a Saturday during the lunch rush for a quick bite and were seated right away. Our server, Sydney, was fantastic! We were craving clam chowder and fried seafood, and this place delivered exactly what we were looking for. The modern beachy, coastal-town vibe was spot on, and the decor perfectly captured the charm of Long Beach. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

This place would perfect to come for a date night. Food was delicious (with the exception of the seared ahi, not much flavor and wasn't a good eating experience as there was the stringy part of the ahi made it hard to cut/eat). The appetizers were great. My pasta dish was good however it was a little heavier than I expected. The way it was described on the menu it sounded like a lighter dish. Service was good, we had a large table and she was very attentive to us. Nice place to grab a bite in Long Beach.

We arrived before 5:00 pm, and it took a while to even put an order in. Even though we were sitting in the bar and there were a LOT of servers/bussers/etc. We ordered the Mushroom burger, the Chicken Bacon Guac burger and the Prime Rib Dip. Let's start with the pros - the Chicken Bacon Guac burger was pretty good! But the Prime Rib Dip had something like shredded meat on it, not sliced meat. So, when you dipped it in the Au jus, chunks of meet fell into the Au jus. Be ready to fish them out with a fork! The Mushroom burger was an exceptionally thin burger. Our server asked how we wanted it cooked. But it didn't matter. A burger that thin was coming out well done, no matter what. It had mushrooms on it, but not many at all. And we ordered the Cajun Tater Tots. Tonight, it was just like someone cooked tater tots, then shook some seasoning on them, and maybe the lid fell off the seasoning? They were drenched in some kind of Cajun-adjacent spice. We had recently been telling visiting guests that the Lost Roo was the one consistent, reasonably priced restaurant on the peninsula. We're going to have to stop telling people that now. Sadly, it'll be a while before we go back.

I would say try the local beers on tap but I'd be lying again (they have 5+ on rotation, maybe all the time idk but tonight they have 5 and the ones I had were fantastic and tried a couple more tasters). If you're going to stay by the water you should come here for two reasons..... 1 )the atmosphere is cool and relaxing with great music from the 70s - early 2000s, and an amazing patio (I came in a Sunday night and it was "slow" [what I expected from a Sunday night]) 2) the bartender is awesome. Without a single clue what to do in Astoria (first time visitors), we parked for $10 in the Port of Astoria lot on the west side of town. It was a warm day, and we were hungry, so we took to Marine Drive to look for breakfast and this was the first place we saw. It says they serve it all day. I don't think they have their own lot but street parking doesn't seem to be a premium here. Later on, we discovered that this place also made the vet staff's recommended list which was a happy coincidence. It says on the door that they don't have public restrooms, which they don't, but they do have a men's and women's restroom for customers. Nice ambiance with the nautical theme and some slot machines (is gambling legal in Astoria?). I particularly liked the piece they took from a real ship called Raven and perched a fake raven on it on the wall. Makes the little goth in my heart happy. You order at the bar and the lady who took it wasn't the friendliest. P told me in retrospect that service was slow and she had a bit of an attitude when I asked him whether this place warranted a 4 or 5. I guess she did, but all I noticed was how good the food was! The workers breakfast for $14 is outstanding! The sausage patty is luscious with a nice bite of heat. They make your eggs perfectly and they cook their potatoes skin on in a skillet that leaves the edges with a nice crisp flavorful crust. You need the toast (we both ordered dry wheat) to mop up the egg and eat with the sausage to fill you up. Honestly, haven't had a breakfast where every single element of it was all of great quality. Plus, it's an almost perfect portion of food. I know I want to go back if I can just convince P to ignore the attitude. Another cool local hangout. There was a jolly bunch of older men drinking, laughing and chatting that provided an awesome soundtrack to our visit.
