This is not a Korean BBQ spot. I been here once about 8 years ago and it was legit a Korean BBQ spot. Today, I was disappointed. I think I waited longer to be seated than dinning in. We tried 3 different meats and we were so disappointed with the meat quality, plus they didn't even have "beef belly" which is common for Korean bbq spot. No , this place is not it. We didn't even have seconds, we just didn't like meat quality. Service was good. The guys were attentive even though you see them taking shots and downing beers with the customers. I used to come here as a kid when it was 12$ ayce and $16 for the premium w galbi. Now it's $35 for the c option. The brisket was nice and thin but dry. Located far up on northern Western Blvd., I think technically it's just outside of Koreatown. So it's not your typical authentic Korean atmosphere with Korean staff, Korean music, Korean customers, or the Korean language. With that said, this place is a great value for AYCE! The place is next to a 7-11 with some somewhat seedy characters hanging out in the parking lot, but hey that's Hollywood for you. There are 3 set AYCE menus to choose from: menu A is $21.99, B is $26.99, and C is $33.99. We chose B and it was more really good bang for the buck. The beef and pork bulgogi were just okay, but the boneless short rib cube was delicious and tender. That was the only thing we reordered. The banchan was decent, especially the kimchi and bean sprouts. Most of the customers and all of the front of the house staff was Hispanic. The service was super friendly and fast. The servers checked on us regularly. One interesting aspect is that you order from the menu and pay when you walk in before you sit down. The parking lot is small and valet only. We lucked out with street parking. Beware to not leave anything visible in your car as it's not the safest or cleanest neighborhood. We had a table for 8, service was good, and borthday treat for the birthday girl. They charge first for big tables but you can add more later. Valet is $10. Me and my coworkers were initially going to go to Moon BBQ which is across the street from Castle, but one of my coworkers mentioned he liked the menu better at Castle (They have it plastered on the outside window) and since we had never been to either place, we decide to try Castle. Boy was that the best choice we could have made!!! First off parking isn't the best in the area, so after a couple drives around the neighborhood, we lucked up finding parking on the side streets. They do have Valet which was only $4, but it's limited to the amount of space in the lot since they share it with a 711. So you have options when parking, just be patient. When you walk in, this isn't a very big place and there wasn't much room in the reception area either, so just be mindful that it can get a little crowded with people coming in, people leaving, and the staff walking back and forth. Like with most K BBQ spots, you all have to agree on what meal plan (A, B, or C) every person in your group is comfortable paying, there are no exceptions. I like that each option there has good choices and the highest option of course has seafood included. The biggest highlight for me was the -pay before you eat-. I find after dinning with a group, calculating who-owes-what can be tricky and cumbersome. Somehow the money given from everyone is not adding up and now you have a frustrated and sometimes guilty looking group. So when you pay for your meal upfront, there is no need to figure the particulars out by the end of the night and every can eat in peace. If you want to leave a tip, you can always just do so in cash on the table or order any addition items and just leave a tip on the new receipt. The meat quality was good and our server Francisco was EXCEPTIONAL. We were throwing so many orders his way and he kept a smile on his face the whole time. I kept praising how amazing and attentive he was to our table even though it was a very busy Saturday night. I will make note that this was the first KBbq spot that I've been to where some of the grills are like hot ceramic plates and I like how the meat tended to not stick as much on them vs the stainless steel ones normally used. Very cool! All-in-all, my group came hungry and left out waddling! lol That's a sign of a happy KBbq customer! I will definitely be returning and telling my family/friends about this hidden gem. I absolutely love coming here with my family . They are very attentive of the tables even when busy and their side dishes are delicious! They don't have refills here tho and parking is a bit annoying , valet is like 10$ but honestly it's worth it for the price and amazing service , also THEIR BATHROOM IS CLEAN !! OK just to get this out of this way, I am Mexican and this place is hard to call a Korean BBQ. Everyone in the building is speaking Spanish, there is Spanish music blasting in the dinning room, the staff is speaking Spanish. All of this is fine but its about as authentic as an Outback Steakhouse. This best thing about this place is the pricing, it's not like super cheap but it is reasonably priced for a decent quality and selection of KBBQ. So overall as a place to spend money and get some food it's pretty good. Now for my gripes. YOU PAY WHEN YOU ARE SEATED, this to me is like a cardinal sin at a restaurant that expects tips. I didn't find the service very good so pre tipping 20% felt like a bit of a rip. That leads to my second point, the service was lacking. We had one guy who was great but a lot of the orders were messed up or we would have to order things twice, the tables weren't set completely so we had to ask for sauces and at one point I just got up and found my own dishes from a rack to use for the table. It just felt like poorly managed chaos. Honestly we wanted to try a place we hadn't been and using yelp searches headed for Dream, which has been closed for a year, so we tried castle because it was close and I had heard of it. After so many nights of frequenting LA K-Town for KBBQ, I was shocked myself that I still had not yet visited Castle. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews from friends about how small and dingy the place was, but there was no denying that a good deal is a good deal. When you come to Castle, you aren't coming expecting high-quality KBBQ but really you're seeking a great deal. Their $13.99 Option A certainly gets the job done with a selection of brisket, pork belly, and a couple of other meats. We went for the slightly higher (but still inexpensive) $16.99 which included steamed eggs and cheese-corn as appetizers. The food here really a solid 3-stars but if you are hungry, all of that goes out the window and you're here to enjoy some good cooking. We actually really enjoyed the more premium option because it included kalbi, which was our definite favorite meat of the night. It also included squid which I was also a huge fan of- spicy and slightly chewy when fully cooked. Their brisket and pork belly staples were also pretty good. What brings this up to four stars was really how accommodating and nice the service was for us. Our group was a bit late but they were willing to save a table for us. One of my good friend's requires accommodation for her scooter and they were very generous in making sure the most accessible table was open. This plus the fact that our server Andrew was always checking in on us and giving us what we needed, Castle deserves a higher than average rating. Beware for the parking around here because it is one of the smallest valets I've ever had to deal with in K-Town. Try to find street parking if you can. read more

Under new ownership, staff has changed from six years ago, and the place has been remodeled. The wait time isn't as long as before. The wait time for a table is non existent the time I was there.
