When I discovered the exquisite Catbird x Japanese Breakfast Collection, I immediately began collecting the charms. This, of course, led to my acquisition of appropriately sized necklace chains, etc. Unfortunately, so many of the necklace chains on the website are currently unavailable (as of July 2026). After some research, I discovered some of the local stores throughout the US actually have the items in house! In particular, the SF store has the Festoon and the Second Avenue chains. So I found myself reluctantly wandering into the SF store today to see if I could buy a Festoon chain. I say reluctantly, because it is not always fun or pleasant to shop there. However, today Rebecca helped me. What a difference. She went to great lengths to help me select the best chain, despite my changing my mind several times, and she taught me how to open and close the small charm holder. No small feat! This is excellent customer service. This is why I will go back to the store, instead of always ordering online. read more

I made a reservation online to get permanent bracelets; we were a tad late to our appointment but were still able to be assisted right away. We first were able to try on and pick out which chains and charms we wanted, then we were taken to the zapping station. The employee helping us was helpful, making sure that the bracelet was the perfect size for us. After getting zapped, I noticed that my chain was twisted so I recommend thoroughly checking your bracelet after! However, when I brought it up the employee was happy to fix it and re-zap. read more

We went to go get some forever jewelry (bracelets) at Catbird from the recommendation of a friend. All of the ladies working there were super helpful and friendly. They have beautiful selection of jewelry that is all very unique. As for the forever jewelry, they have a better selection, the local pop-ups and slightly better prices. Service is hit or miss. The Asian woman who works here is so nice and she's great--I'll buy from her. Some of the other employees aren't as knowledgeable. Jewelry is cute. Good 14k gold. I love my trolley charm. Necklaces can be flimsy--my Laufey ring snapped, as well as my Sweet Nothing chain. They refunded me for the Laufey ring (which annoyingly sold out after I bought it and they thought they'd get more, so I felt like I was left hanging.) For the Sweet Nothing chain, I bought the adjustable one but it also broke and they gave me the choker which is cheaper. Love going into the store. It's often busy. Conveniently bikeable, walkable, and Muni-able in the Fillmore (not Noe Valley, like another review incorrectly said.) read more

I first visited Catbird 2 weeks ago with my boyfriend, then came back last weekend with my friends and again today. Each time was such a lovely experience! I had to write a review! I wish I remembered her name but the British staff member was incredibly kind and helpful and remembered me every single time I came back. Each time she welcomed me back excitedly and even remembered what items I looked at two weeks ago! So I went in to select a treat for myself. I went for the cute little key necklace they have. Unfortunately you can't have it engraved for you in the store, you have to send it off to NYC which is a hassle. The first lady was super friendly and helpful. The second lady was a larger person and she was just not that personable. I even tried to make small talk, and she wasn't knowledgeable or kind. When I found out I was allergic to their piece (it made me itchy when trying it on the first day), I couldn't actually return it which is different from what their policy states online. All in all, I wish I purchased it from their online store because the customer service seems to be better than in real life. Who knew? It's too bad! They need to have better policies in place if they're going to keep their customers returning to the store. read more

I'm so excited that Catbird has landed in the Bay Area! Located in the cute Noe Valley neighborhood, Catbird feels right at home among cute boutiques and cafes. I checked out the shop a week after it opened, and noticed it was considerably quieter than the New York locations (perhaps because it's still new). I browsed the shop with the intent of checking out rings and the SF special edition charms. There were many sales associates on the floor, but no one approached me until I went up to the counter and caught their attention. I tried on several stacking rings and looked at the charms, but they had already sold out of most of the SF charms. All the jewelry in the shop is available to try on, so I made my mental wish list. The store decor was very charming - they use antique furniture to display their jewelry - and there is a good mix of home goods and gift items for browsing. I hope that by the holidays, the shop becomes more lively and welcoming. read more

I drove 45 minutes to get a charm added my permanent bracelet purchased outside of Catbird. According to Catbird's website, as of March 2026, it states in their FAQ section, "CAN I ADD A CHARM TO MY WELDED BRACELET? Yes! Our menu of signature Forever Charms can be added to any welded bracelet or necklace. More options to come!" No where on their site or FAQ's does it say charms can only be added to Catbird jewelry only. When I showed the associate where I wanted my charm added to my bracelet, she said with a snooty attitude, "we don't add charms to jewelry not purchased at Catbird". I emailed Catbird's customer service and their response wasn't any better. Catbird's website should clearly state as such and their associates need customer service training. I really like their jewelry, but after this experience, will look elsewhere to spend my money. read more

I'd have to agree with other customers that the service was lacking. The sales rep were not super friendly or helpful. They only assisted us because we kept staring and really had to flag them down. Rebeccae helped us out but the only reason I know her name was because it was on the receipt. My company hosted an event at the store, and I purchased a bracelet at the event. They didn't have it available in the smaller size, so I ordered it from them. The receipt said to expect it within 2-5 days. The event was on December 12th and 2 weeks later it has not shipped. I reached out to customer service and received a small discount code ($25) with an expiry date of 30 days! Kind of ridiculous when most items in the store cost $100s. And no word on when it will ship - just said "after the holidays". Looking at reviews below, seems this same experience has happened to others. Jewelry is great. Employees are not. 3 separate visits over the last year, and each have not been pleasant. Today we went in to look at engagement rings. I proposed with a family ring and I also want my fiancé to have her own ring. All my idea. Pink haired employee approaches us as we walk in (at least someone helped us this time, we were also the only people inside). I tell her the occasion, she looks at my fiancé, not me, and says "oh, you want your own ring? It's ok" in a quite condescending, not an "it's ok" tone at all. On our way out, she rushed over to talk with her co-worker, clearly to talk sh** about us. I stopped in front of the charms while she was scurrying back, I caught her eye in the mirror, she immediately stopped with a sheepish look and walked back over to the charms. Not once did she congratulate us...not looking for a "congrats" from the entire world, but if someone says to you "we've just gotten engaged" is that not the normal pleasant human response? To congratulate them? First 2 times, store was a bit busier but nobody attempted to help us. Pink hair needs to go. You have to be happy working in any customer service job and she clearly is not. I've followed Catbird online for a while and was excited to hear they were opening a new store on Fillmore. I went in to look around because it's hard to gauge size from looking at pictures on the website. I wanted to buy a necklace with charms for my daughter and selected several, of which two were not in stock and had to be ordered. I left with a necklace, charm holder and two charms, with two on order. I was told they would be sent in 7-10 days. It's been over 4 weeks and when I called to check on the status, I was told it would be 8-10 weeks! When I asked to cancel the two Changs as they would not be available km time, I was told I had to send an email to the corporate office, that the store couldn't help me. I asked for a phone number and was told there wasn't one and I could only send email. The prices aren't inexpensive for what you are getting (gold) and can add up very quickly. This whole experience has left a very negative impression of the company, its policies, and its lack of customer service. I will not be shopping here again. read more

Been shopping at Catbird since 2004 and it's great to finally have a store near me to see items in person. I typically shop online although I have been to the original store in Williamsburg as well. The Fillmore location is really cute, but the associate I was working with wasn't super knowledgeable about the products. Ive been shopping at Catbird for years only online . There isn't a location where I live in AZ so I was super excited to see one was opened in San Francisco right after I got tickets for a show here . The shop was so cute and aesthetic. The workers were all so sweet. My sister and I came in pretty close to close and they still made time to Zap us even tho they already had an appointment booked . The whole experience was lovely . I had gone in with a friend to get permanent bracelets and we didn't have an appointment since the website site walk-ins were welcome. However, when we asked they said they were all booked up. I clarified saying the website said walk in's were welcome, and they said (rudely) that since they were all booked up they didn't take walk-ins. There wasn't an option to wait for availability or for them to take out number and call us if they had time. They also just didn't really seem to care for our business, made no effort to see if we wanted to come back another day or show us any other jewelry .
