Finally made it to Catch 54 in Fenwick. Started the meal Fried Oysters, Deviled Crab Eggs and Caesar/Kale salad. Then I added the Sodel Shuckin Sauce (their hot sauce). Best hot sauce I've had and I love hot sauces. My wife remarked that the oysters were best she's had. The salad was perfect ruffage and the deviled eggs really had large lump crab pieces. To say the least I was blown away. Everyone at my table got their food and it was looking great. My wife's food looked amazing then my Burger came... right away I noticed the onions and tomato that I requested not be on it was there. When I went to eat my fry's they were cold and soggy. I was thinking its ok she will be back to bring my pickle and coleslaw, but nope that never came either. As I'm eating my cheese burger I then had hair in the cheese. Their scallops although pricey are prepared perfectly. Fish and chips are not over battered and well cooked - great cod! Filet is really a great cut of meat and delicious. They stay open all year which us always a plus for those of us who live here all year. Great bar that you can actually eat at. A great pick for anyone looking for a really great meal! read more

I think I had one of the best dinners of my life here last night. Started off with a Pilsner Urquell beer which is outstanding. I had the steamed muscles which were out of the world. The white sauce it came with was so tasty I ate it like a soup. It had bacon, garlic, and either leeks or onions. Next I had the gumbo which was on a bed of grits with scallops, shrimp, and fried oysters. Out of this world. I don't even really like fried oysters but these were very little and fried to perfection. I couldn't have asked for a better meal. My wife and I eat fairly regularly at Sodel restaurants, especially Bluecoast and Matt's. We live off Rt. 54 fairly close to Catch but always seem to avoid it because of parking. Thursday evening on our way to Matt's we decided to give Catch a quick drive by and were able to get a decent parking spot. We popped in the bar and we're promptly seated. My wife and I ordered cocktails which were very good (pet peeve of mine are in season weak, expensive drinks). My wife ordered happy hour deviled eggs and hamburger and I ordered the soft crab special. The burger and eggs were delicious and my soft crabs were big and plump, the best I've had in years. Our server Joe was a pleasure to hang with and his soft crab endorsement was dead on. Forgot how much I miss this attractive place and will be back sooner than later. read more

First of all Maggie our server was fantastic. We had a party of 11 and she did a great job with everything. Wife and I had the spicy scallops and bacon chowder-- nice smoked flavor and plentiful scallops. I had the seafood gumbo-- shrimp, scallops, fried oysters I. A red gumbo sauce served with creamy grits. They offer bread which was a sweet bread and very tasty. Wife and the fried jumbo shrimp ( 8) with fries and slaw. The setting of this restaurant is beautiful - right near the docks on the bay side of the Fenwick Island area of Delaware. I went there while on vacation with my young son, and the staff from the front of house, the bar, and the restaurant itself were so kind to us. The atmosphere when I went (around 6:30 pm on a weekday) was a great balance between sophisticated and relaxed/kid-friendly. The kids menu is great (the portion sizes were surprisingly large), the drinks are awesome (I had a pineapple martini), and the cakes on the dessert menu were so delicious (and also quite large). Their take on shrimp and grits is interesting, however, so if you are expecting something more like soul food, I would reconsider. Their version was delicious though (and not too heavy)! I wish I could transplant this place to near my house, because I would probably go there for brunch or fresh oysters every weekend and bring all my friends. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the North Ocean City or Delaware Beach area. read more

My wife and I love to go to Ocean City, MD with our family in the month of May for Cruise Week. We get to watch our kids with their kids (our grandkids) have a great time and, in turn, 'we' have a great time. But, we usually take time out of one evening to go out by ourselves and try to find a new place with excellent food, service and atmosphere while we're here. Today, it was Catch 54 in Fenwick Island, DE. I really don't have anything ill to say, as my rating would suggest. The hostess was very inviting. Our server, Ashley, was very friendly, very helpful, very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us explore the menu options and she was also very knowledgeable about the company she works for, which I thought was impressive. The food? Oh my!! Nothing came out that we didn't enjoy and it came out in a timely fashion. The house chowder (house made), The Parmesan truffle tater tots, The beer cheese dip and soft pretzel bites (beer cheese dip made with Thompson Island IPA beer, which, thanks to Ashley, we know that Thompson Island is another company under the SODEL umbrella along with Catch 54), The seafood gumbo and the southern fried chicken were ALL delicious! I did try the chicken, I enjoyed it very much. The seafood gumbo was amazing!! The fried oysters, seared scallops And shrimp were all cooked perfectly, the grits were creamy and the sauce brought it all together beautifully. They also make their own bread in house. Yes, that was delicious, too! And after reading all of that, you probably know what I'm gonna say next... The desserts were perfect and house made, too (SODEL Lime Pie (key lime pie, really & peanut butter pie)!! Like I said, 'nothing ill to say' and only praises to be sung. Oh and the view was awesome from our table, too & so much natural light in the restaurant made it bright and warm! Our experience was top-notch. Five stars. Totally recommend! Thank you, Catch 54! Our night had a lot of ups and downs at this restaurant. We had a reservation for 6pm but waited over 15 minutes for a party that had paid to leave the table. But we weren't put out from that. Our table was on the second floor overlooking the water and it was quite lovely. When ordering I hesitated on the hot crab dip, wishing there was a smaller version to try. It also came with kettle chips which I wasn't sure about but the server assured me it was great so we ordered it ($16). The kettle chips looked like they were made at the restaurant and the dip came in a smallish dish. We were disappointed that it didn't taste in any way of crab, I mean, at all. It tasted like cheddar cheese and sour cream. You could see the crab but it has zero crab or any seafood taste. So that was a bust. We waited quite a long time for our main meal which we were ok with as we were still slightly full from lunch. But when the food arrived my husband's gumbo looked like it had sat under a heat lamp and my coleslaw with my fried shrimp was warm. It seems like they might have been down a server or two as managers were bringing food out. Our server had been nice and attentive up until we got our food, then we didn't see her again until we flagged her down for boxes and the bill. Husband like his dish but said it wasn't really seafood gumbo. My shrimp were perfectly cooked but at least one of mine were not deveined properly. When we left we both said the food was a solid B but the price was A level. We don't mind paying high prices for high level food but we felt that wasn't the case here. Our evening didn't start so well; we arrived a little late for our reservation. Due to being unfamiliar with the area, having to park in a distant lot due to no parking, and then waiting on a brief line to check in with the hostess, we were about 13, maybe 14 minutes past our reserved time. Anyway, the hostess goes inside and pops back out, saying our table was given away. My wife was furious, but I convinced her to wait. We stood outside like jerks but got called back in after about 20 minutes. Arriving at the table, my bench was pretty dirty but luckily the hostess noticed me staring before sitting and cleaned it off. Our actual waitress was very nice and so was the inside decor. I do wish she wouldve acknowledged that we barely touched the steamed clams which were just swimming in sand and black grit. Gross. But oysters Rockefeller were spot on. Entrees were really good, wife had nice seared scallops and I really liked my crab cakes. Nice wine amd craft beer selection too. Overall, I just expect better service at this price point. So many missed opportunities to even try and make it right. read more

This place was just fantastic. Walked in on a Friday night and were told it was an hour and and a half wait. Ended up only waiting 45 min. We had a party of 6 and they accommodated another 2 without any issues. Everything was delicious! We got pretzel bites with cheese, crab dip, wedge with crab cake, Brussel salad, crab cakes, clams, a few burgers, the mussels- and the gumbo was one of the best out there! (Sorry no pics as we were in good company and the atmosphere was great, but trust me it was good!) I also have to give a shout out to our server Lauren. She was really on her game- so personable and accommodating, and it really was such a pleasure having her as our server. Very beautiful location and our waitress was friendly. However, the food was just not good at all. We stopped in for dinner last night and the restaurant was packed. We loved the location and the views are just great. We were pretty excited to try the food based off of the reviews but we were so disappointed. We started off with the deviled eggs with crab meat and the cheese dip pretzels. The dip had zero flavor and the deviled eggs were mediocre at best. I ordered the iceberg salad with a crab cake and my partner ordered the gumbo. The crab cake was lukewarm and not good. My partner didn't eat the gumbo because his dish was not prepared the way he asked and the seafood did not look good. We had high hopes for this place but I expect a lot more when it comes to food quality and execution. Hopefully they get a new chef because basic seasoning and flavor is lacking majorly! read more

Absolutely fabulous!!!! We have been coming to Rehoboth for years & decided to take a drive and try something new!! My husband had the Oyster Rockefeller and said they were the best he has ever had! The truffle tater tots where seasoned with a touch of truffle oil and finished with a hint of Parmesan cheese and scallions. The Brussels sprout salad was perfectly dressed with a slight crunch of Pistachios and pecorino cheese. The salad girl in me loved this! Entrees from halibut to salmon to shrimp & grits was delicious bite after bite! However - what made the night was our server Lauren! Unbelievably attentive , kind, funny and just awesome! Normally, this is one of our favorite spots, but Easter brunch wasn't great. I give it three stars for service and atmosphere. The oysters and monkey bread were very good. We commented on how quickly we were served and soon found out why. My husband and I both ordered crab eggs benedict. The english muffin was so hard we couldn't even cut through it. It seemed like it had been pre made and sitting under a warmer for a while (my daughter's sausage gravy was the same). The poached eggs and hollandaise sauce were hard. Easily, the worst we ever had. By the time we were leaving we heard them telling other tables they were out of benedict and sausage gravy. Then a man at the table beside us said I don't know how you run out of eggs. Not a good day for this typically great restaurant. We'll be back. Hopefully these issues are resolved. read more

Went here for dinner recently. I was there just before peak season on a Thursday night, so they were running a 25% off special; this was a welcome surprise. I ordered the wedge salad and shrimp & grits. The wedge salad had nice pieces of bacon and a good amount of bleu cheese. It also had pickled onions which complemented the salad nicely. A lot of places in this area use mass produced salad dressing; I could definitely tell this dressing was made in house. Overall, very good. The shrimp and grits was several shrimp cooked and seasoned to perfection in a red pepper sauce, served over grits. This was a pretty far cry from the southern version, but still delicious. The grits were thick and creamy, there were nice pieces of chorizo throughout, and the red pepper sauce brought everything together nicely. Overall, pretty good. Service was solid from the bartender at the downstairs bar. The downstairs bar does not have nearly as nice a view as the upstairs bar; sadly, since it was still the shoulder season, the upstairs bar was closed. Overall, very good experience. Pro tip: the outdoors dining room tables on the upper deck provide an amazing view of the wetlands/bay, a view that beats pretty much every other restaurant in the area. The food is delicious and they have a great wine list. They also have a great happy hour and two bars. The restaurant offers great views of the bay and indoor/outdoor seating.
