Cute waterfront restaurant with tasty beer and food! Yummy lil deviled eggs, shucked oysters, calamari and "hog" ribs. The staff was very friendly and wore masks the entire time. Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance. We sat in the bar area, and although the seats at the bar itself was closed off, there were a few spaced out tables. However at a certain point, the bar area felt crowded when all the tables were filled. I'd definitely come back when this Covid chaos eases up. read more

Came in for dinner was going to sit at the bar for happy hour but it was full. You should still be able to order from the happy hour menu at least if the bar area has no more seats. The crab cakes were good would have been batter without the filler in them or at least cut out 3/4 of the amount filler used. The grits were excellent but you only get like four bites there grit ground up corn with some cheese and seasoning they don't cost much to make. The coleslaw was good as were the fries the shrimp were good but they need to cook them consistently the same for every order. We had three orders at our table and two of them had very little batter and could have used about 45 more seconds in the fryer and the third one had more breading and was fried very nice. The shrimp are very nice in size they could butterfly them slightly for presentation. The peach old fashion wasn't very good the pineapple martini is good could use a little less sugar would bring out more pineapple flavor. Our server was excellent 08/13/20 Came in for dinner tonight the fried shrimp are excellent this time instead of fries I got the Brussels sprout salad it is excellent in place of the fries a must try!! The most aesthetically pleasing restaurant in Fenwick island with incredible views of the bay and incredibly fresh food. Chilled peel and eat shrimp so good just as good cold as warm and fresh shucked oysters for starters . We than split the salmon BLT , liking the upgrade of the classic BLT , and the "54 burger" with the secret sauce of yum. I really wanted a slice of key lime pie but we were stuffed . Next time.! Watching all the people renting boats and jet skis on the docks , sitting IN the restaurant , it finally felt like it's summer again ! I have missed the summer sunshine and happy times . Had a very nice time with my husband and two young kids tonight. We got the crab dip, gumbo, and stew for my husband and me and the pasta with red sauce and chicken and fries for my kids. I had the pineapple martini and wine, husband had a Negroni and beer. Free bread is served with a sweet soft butter. I really liked the crab dip and gumbo; stew was well-cooked but not much seasoning. Payton was our server - she was very friendly, had good suggestions and was a great server. Fabulous dinner last night at Catch 54! We ate outside and appreciated that even outdoors, they had guests spaced out and very safe with COVID. Friday is half priced wine night, so we had a bottle of pinot grigio (I forget the name) and a sampling of all 4 kinds of oysters they offered. All were delicious! Then we both had crab cakes for dinner. They had tons of crab meat and were seasoned well. The service was great, too. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Sometimes you sacrifice quality for a view, but that isn't the case at Catch 54. It was our first time there and definitely won't be our last! The oysters were fresh and delicious, the oysters Chesapeake were amazing. My boyfriend loved the hog wings, and thought the fried chicken was one of the best he's ever had. We went here for the first time tonight. It was the last dinner of our beach vacation and it was such a pleasant end to our trip. The restaurant was so beautiful, inside was clean white and reminded me of New England. We sat outside and it was so pretty. They have planters with flowers and trailers and it was waterfront on the bay side. Food was excellent. Overall it was a great experience, we'll be coming back for sure. read more

UPDATE: The day after the experience noted below, I received a call from the manager who kindly apologized, credited our card for the crabcakes and offered to mail me a gift card to return. She also patiently listened to my concerns. We have eaten at Catch 54 many times before and usually have a good experience, so this is an exception. I applaud them for trying to do the right thing. We all have off days but valid feedback is important as well. Horrible experience! After a 50 min wait (promised 30-45), once seated, we had to wait so long for a bottle of wine, our waitress (who was quite nice) felt the need to apologize. At 7:30, my husband and I both ordered the tuna special but were told it was sold out so we both ordered the swordfish special. My husband also ordered the $19 shrimp cocktail and had to peel all the shells off. I ordered the beet salad that was okay, although, I had to dig pretty hard to find any pecans or cheese. I have had more cheese and pecans in a salad at Panera Bread. When our $28 swordfish arrived, it was cut extremely thin, drastically overcooked/dry and tasted horrible so we sent it back. I then ordered the crabcakes. My husband had given up and ordered nothing. We waited so long for the crabcakes that our waitress (again, lovely) dropped off 2 slices of bread to tide us over. When the crabcakes ($36) arrived, they were burnt (as pictured), dried out and again, did not taste good at all. They did comp us our appys and didn't charge for the swordfish but including our drinks at the bar, we spent well over $100 for our worst anniversary dinner ever. Our night had a lot of ups and downs at this restaurant. We had a reservation for 6pm but waited over 15 minutes for a party that had paid to leave the table. But we weren't put out from that. Our table was on the second floor overlooking the water and it was quite lovely. When ordering I hesitated on the hot crab dip, wishing there was a smaller version to try. It also came with kettle chips which I wasn't sure about but the server assured me it was great so we ordered it ($16). The kettle chips looked like they were made at the restaurant and the dip came in a smallish dish. We were disappointed that it didn't taste in any way of crab, I mean, at all. It tasted like cheddar cheese and sour cream. You could see the crab but it has zero crab or any seafood taste. So that was a bust. We waited quite a long time for our main meal which we were ok with as we were still slightly full from lunch. But when the food arrived my husband's gumbo looked like it had sat under a heat lamp and my coleslaw with my fried shrimp was warm. It seems like they might have been down a server or two as managers were bringing food out. Our server had been nice and attentive up until we got our food, then we didn't see her again until we flagged her down for boxes and the bill. Husband like his dish but said it wasn't really seafood gumbo. My shrimp were perfectly cooked but at least one of mine were not deveined properly. When we left we both said the food was a solid B but the price was A level. We don't mind paying high prices for high level food but we felt that wasn't the case here. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the views are gorgeous; it's also one of the few classier restaurants in the area but we would not recommend. read more

Recently moved to this area and this restaurant was recommended by our realtor. Chris, at the oyster bar, is a gem( very knowledgeable about the type, salinity, and area) the oysters are from. Two of us ordered seafood, came out cooked to perfection and our other guest had a beef meal which smelled wonderful. First time we missed Happy Hour (we got there in time but there were no seats) so we made sure to arrive at 5pm this time and snagged the last two seats at the upstairs bar. Bartenders are good, atmosphere is clean, airy, bright, beachy - everything you want! Buck a Shuck oysters were great (could have been scrubbed a little more), good prices for drinks. Every time we ordered an entree here we have been disappointed. Fish n Chips last time was disappointing. This time I ordered the Fried Shrimp platter. Shrimp were good, but they were just piled on top of some so-so fries, nothing special. Had a great meal on our last night at the beach! We tried to get a reservation since we were being my 90 year old mother, but was unable to get through-they take a limited number if you call between 4:30 and 6 PM. When we arrived we were told an hour wait, but we were seated in 35 minutes. Several places to hang out while waiting and we were able to secure seats outside and have a cocktail while we waited. Service and food was wonderful! All of our drinks and food came quickly and the table had a beautiful view of the water. There was an elevator that was clutch in getting my mother to the table. My only complaint is that they stored a mop and bucket with dirty water in the elevator and I was surprised to see it there not when we arrived and when we left. Nice upscale fish centred restaurant on the water. Restaurant is split into 2 levels, some outdoor seating. Parking is in 2 or 3 areas nearby just off the bridge, one right next to the restaurant and one about 3 mins walk away. Most tables have a view of the water - it's the bayside. They are quite busy and we had a 30-40 min wait but they send you text alerts etc. Meal overall was nice, well presented, and they had a decent kids menu. We had shrimp gumbo, shrimp and grits and couple of the kids specials. Finished off with a root beer float and key lime pie. Food was all decent and well presented. Restaurant was nice, and clean, high end. They have a happy hour before 6pm and we saw a big crowd of people leaving form this when we arrived at 6.30. I gave this 4 stars and can see why it's popular. Perhaps unfairly I felt like this place was somewhat of a factory. A well oiled machine. Waitress didn't really check in on us much, and forgot my drink which I had to politely remind her of 20 mins later. They obviously do well, but I wasn't wowed by the food and would not rush back. This place is the bomb!! The flavor and fresh taste of their food doesn't compare to anywhere in the ocean city/fenwick area. The view is also so beautiful. Modern, two level establishment on the bay that was spotless. We were seated upstairs next to the bar at a table that was a little wobbly. Our server greeted us with waters but seemed visibly upset about our questions about happy hour. She did seem to lighten up as the meal continued. The food was mediocre and that is coming from 4 adults who love this place. My burger was decent, fries were very good, drink prices were very reasonable and the salad was great. The kids chicken fingers came out completely raw on the inside. We originally asked for a grilled cheese but the server advised this is not the weekend to ask for that..... the $30 scallops platter was bland, catfish appetizer was average, short rib Mac and cheese was above average. Receiving a gift certificate to use at one of many Sodel Restaurants, this was the right pick. We had a group total of 5, and although long long lines, the wait inside was well worth the wait. The view in the lobby, while you are waiting is enticing and very relaxing! We went upstairs for seating, and while yes the wait was about an hour, if you have patience, understanding, and a good attitude about it, well as an example, in this case it was well worth the wait. My order for the night was dessert first Peach Cobbler Bread Pudding and yeah, it was a DREAM - :) , then the 54 Burger, Matt's homemade rootbeer (this was AWESOME) and overall, the atmosphere was perfect for celebrating a friend's birthday. So first of all, literally 40 minutes to get crab dip appetizer is far too long, not crowded either. I think server forgot to put it in which is OK, management took care of the cost, but still disappointing. Oysters took about 50 minutes to get to the table, one guy shucking so understandable I suppose, oysters were amazing. Ok so onto the main course. We ordered two bowls of the gumbo, flavor good but both bowls literally came out cold. The grits in the center were lukewarm but the soup itself literally cold to the touch. When we asked the young lady who brought the food out for spoons (not our server) she acted like spoons didn't exist, with attitude in her reply "ummmm I can see if we have any" ... really? Come on.. all she said to say was "sure thing, I'll grab some spoons for you all" Anyways. We kept one bowl of gumbo and sucked it up. Our grandmother sent her dish back, only for it to come out, still cold. Hostesses all have attitude and act snooty. Hospitality industry should be a little better about these things. However!
