Catch has all of the ingredients to really stand the test of time. The food will surprise you in taste because it's very clean and fresh and your body will respond well to it. Service could use improvement but wasn't unpleasant. The waiter brought out the wrong dish and we waited for the correct one but it was tasty when it came. Ambiance depends on the night. They struggled to find their groove for Tuesday but it still had moments. It's somewhere I'd definitely visit again because some flavors were memorable. These were the smallest oysters I have seen in my life ; it's official CATCH has the smallest oysters I have ever seen in my life, this is a rip off, the oyster meat is the size of a tea spoon which is like a bean, you can NOT enjoy it because it's too small. You know. I gotta be honest, at this point you're paying for the name. I came to Catch NYC for Restaurant Week, figured that's one of the best ways to try a NYC staple without breaking the bank, and I'm glad I did it this way because I'm sorry the food is just decent. But for those prices you'd expect or at least want the best of the best. We had the Crispy Rock Shrimp, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Salmon, Filet Mignon ($20 upcharge on the Restaurant Week menu), Blood Orange Panna Cotta and Pistachio Cheesecake. And it was fine, literally just fine. Actually, the Filet and Lobster Mac was underwhelming. Way more salt was needed on the filet and the cook was giving medium well when I definitely asked for medium. And the Lobster Mac...it didn't come out hot so the cheese sauce of sorts just kinda created a glue of sorts. And the flavor didn't stand out. Came here for brunch last week with girlfriends and enjoyed ourselves. In terms of brunch places, Catch has a low array of breakfast forward options, which I don't mind. We ordered the bang shrimp and the tuna crispy rice for the table which were both delicious. I ordered the rose wine which was nice and balanced as well as the bluefin tuna toast as my dish. It was much smaller than I imagined and was a bit one dimensional in flavor. If I were to go back I'd try something else as my main. Came for brunch a few days ago. 2 couples with one kid each. A 2yr old & 9yr old. We came just as they opened. Only the rooftop was open for brunch. It's a smaller space and they were probably getting the main restaurant ready for NYE. We all ordered our dishes. My son got the cinnamon roll pancakes. Very tasty! I shared the steak & eggs (steak was cooked very well! ) with my husband along with an order of the crunchy rice cakes. That only came with 3 pieces for $24. They should really make it 4. They know people are probably going to share and $8 for one piece is pretty crazy. It's not like they're using toro for the tuna. I'm sure the profit margins are still very good at $6 per piece. Anyway, after we ordered, it was a while before our food came out. Our server was great, but something must have happened to delay the dishes. Eventually, everything came out, along with a manager and it all looked & tasted great! We were lucky the kiddos didn't get fussy. One more suggestion, for morning brunch with multiple families, maybe turn the dj music volume down a notch or two. We're not having brunch that early with kids for the club vibes. Friday night is the perfect time to go and order so much delicious food but you won't feel stuffed and needing stretchy pants after which is the best part so you can hit the catch club after! Must order: The tuna Crudo was honestly out of this world 10/10 perfection. The A5 wagyu cooked at your table on a hot stone is another must order. The minimum order is 2oz but I recommend 6 ounces because 2oz is only 4 pieces of meat. The crispy shrimp is the freshest interpretation of bang bang shrimp - just order it. If you're vegetarian - get the crispy cauliflower. Other notable dishes: The cold blue king crab was delicate and fresh, hard to share though. CAtch sushi rolls and sashimi are always a great idea. I would definitely recommend this place, one must just be VERY SPECIFIC WITH THE HOST because they don't read your notes. We went to celebrate our anniversary and specifically asked for a specific floor and he just tried to rushed us to the 4th floor, "the more casual floor" aside from this the food was amazing, the drinks were delicious, the service was great and the dessert was such a beautiful and unique experience. We got seated at the rooftop. The server was professional and great. We had a manager checking up on us too. We ordered a cocktail each and I got the pineapple trainwreck. It tasted good. I liked how the bartender upped the alcohol too. For food, we ordered the hellfire roll, A5 wagyu surf & turf roll, grilled spanish octopus, crispy shrimp, and mushroom spaghetti. I am allergic to crustaceans so I didn't eat A5 wagyu surf & turf roll and crispy shrimp. However, my friends did and they said they were delicious! I enjoyed the mushroom spaghetti (creamy) and grilled spanish octopus with potatoes and green onions. I liked the hellfire roll too. You can't go wrong with spicy tuna! My friends and I were worried that we wouldn't be full because we were concerned with portion size, but we were full and satisfied at the end. The downfall is they have 2 working elevators, but it gets congested quickly as customers and workers are moving up and down from 3 dining floors to the lobby. My friends and I went down the staircase when leaving to save time and crowd. Also, the women's restroom on the rooftop (the 2nd stall), the door doesn't lock properly and the toilet paper doesn't roll properly because it is pushed against the metal rack. I along with a friend came to Catch on Friday (07/29) evening for Restaurant Wk. We made a reservation for 9:15PM, which we were several minutes late for and were seated closer to 10PM. The restaurant was extremely loud and bustling with patrons. I felt like we were on top of each other while waiting, which isn't favorable during these times. But that's to be expected on a Friday evening. Music was blaring and the energy inside was extremely high. We were seated near the kitchen so it was cool to see the chefs interacting with one another and cooking. Shout out to the chefs pumping out food at high rate speed. Off the Restaurant Wk menu, I ordered the Tuscon kale salad as a starter, herb roasted branzino with creamy veggie rice as my entree, and assorted cookies for dessert. I also ordered a watermelon mocktail mojito, which was refreshing and per usual with restaurants filled with more ice than the actual drink. The portion for the kale salad was humongous. The ginger dressing was really good, and I'd say the same for the entire salad. The herb roasted branzino was bland. The herb seasoning was only on the skin, which I enjoyed. But the fish itself had absolutely zero flavor. None. Nothing. The creamy veggie rice was a lemon bomb. I don't like anything with a ton of lemon flavor (aside from lemonade), and that includes lemon pepper wings. Yes, I might be a rare kind who doesn't like lemon pepper wings, but I digress. So the rice was a fail to me. The cookies were chewy and warm. Good My friend ordered the crispy shrimp, which she loved. She, too, ordered the branzino and thought it was bland. She didn't mind the lemon flavor. For dessert, she chose the sorbet and liked that. I really love the restaurant's name because its menu is seafood focused and you'd "catch" all of it in the sea. Second time coming to Catch, this time we came for Brunch and had no regrets! Our waiter was standard, and the food was on point! We were seated in two rows of two tops when before I'm guessing there seemed to be just one. If I dared, I could reach my arm out and touch four to five other tables- this definitely brings down the overall rating. I sound like my parents but I want to hear the person sitting across from me, even more, I want to hear my own thoughts! As someone who likes to order more than one dish at sushi spots, it is definitely on the pricier end to do that comparatively ($22 a roll, excluding the wagyu roll). My friend was still hungry after her salmon so she suggested we get a side of Brussels which I obliged. Maybe the brunch special would be a better way to sample more on the menu... If I wasn't really craving sushi and Brussels I don't know how my review would stand. It hit the spot for me.
