I've lived in Tri-Valley over 25 years and this was my first trip to Cattlemens...and I'll be back. I had the 9 oz prime rib which was cooked to perfection. I also liked the salad and bread. Topped it off with scoop of ice cream-didn't want the brownie sundae. Soda for drink though I sat at the bar. Total was $50 even with tax and gratuity. My only constructive comment is that sitting at the bar the seats seemed low for me and eating my dinner seemed slightly awkward. I've been to other bar restaurants where shorter diners are given a bar top which allows the diner to bring the food closer to them. Next time I'll sit in the restaurant proper. I'd like to try the baby back ribs or filet on my next visit. read more

I just want to say that our dinner on New Years Eve was AMAZING....First off, your waitress Christine was one of the best that we have had in some time....Very friendly and was always smiling....She took fantastic care of us while we were there.....Next.....Your Assistant Manager (Jeff Anderson) was by far one of the best Managers I had seen walking a restaurant and asking if everyone was enjoying their meal. When he stopped at our table to check on us, Jeff was smiling and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Came here with family a few times and always had reservations. We were always seated promptly. Servers were always helpful and attentive. My kids and I used to always come on their weekday item specials before the pandemic but I'm always happy with my medium rare ribeye. The food was amazing! Me and the husband loved the steak, the onion appetizer, and our salads. We didn't really prefer the beans, and the Paloma was a little strong.. but the cowboy lemonade was delicious. My son even ordered a steak and he never does that as he is a picky eater. Our waiter we forgot to get his name but he was blonde and tall and very talkative. He was on point with service on Father's Day. What happened? This place used to be a friendly place and service was decent. I sat on the bar for 30 minutes and then bartender ignored me until I waived at her. Also the food took about 50 minutes, why? This is supposed to be an established steakhouse. I guess that's just how it is nowadays. It's unfortunate and I will find another steakhouse. read more

My family and I have been coming to Cattlemens for years especially for special occasions (birthdays). We love how the restaurant is laid out. It really feels like you're at a ranch, and it makes the whole experience more fun. While service time can be on and off sometimes, we have never had any too terrible experiences. Most of the time, it's efficient and the workers are very nice. As for the food, the steaks are always big and meaty, and the portion sizes are as expected. My mom loves the triple threat brochette skewers, and I love their filet mignon! Only room of improvement I would give is for the steaks to be cooked more accordingly. I like my steak medium, but sometimes it comes out more red than I expect. I tend to go medium well now. Last thing, the apple pie is a must! read more

I have been to many Cattlemen's restaurants including this one before. Let me start by saying our waitress was not very friendly at all. She had no personality or maybe she hates her job. When we got our food my husband's mashed potatoes were cold , he asked the waitress to take them back, as he didn't want them anymore. My husband got the 2 lb sirloin and I got the 10 oz sirloin. I have never seen so much fat on a steak, I know you expect some - it's a given but most of our steaks were fat. His was not cooked as he ordered . It's sad when you can say the best thing you ate was the salad and that is true for us . We will not be back to this location. read more

The complementary sourdough was warm and delicious with the butter. The fried shrimp were a great appetizer. We ordered salad steaks a few sides and the kids loved it as well. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was super cool. I suggest making reservations because this place gets busy, For a good reason, of course. I never tried cattlemens but I think compared to black Angus, outback steak house and Texas roadhouse...cattlemen would prob be last on the list for me. It's not bad but also nothing stood out, nothing was particularly good. All the meats needed a bit more seasoning. The best dish might've been the artichoke cheese dip but that's just cheese on bread. Also had the brussel sprouts which were the oiliest brussel sprouts I ever had. & The fire roasted artichoke was ok, just felt like I paid for an overpriced oily artichoke. The desserts were good tho! We got the cookie and apple pie, cinnamon on the ice cream was a nice touch. & Our server was rly nice but I felt rly bad for her. Everything took such a long time but it looked like she had to do everything on her own - drinks, serve, clean the tables. I came here for dinner and luckily didn't have to wait too long. You could tell this place is understaffed, though. I had the Pete's special. My sirloin was a little too charred, and it was just ok. I added on the chipotle honey corn on the cob, and I couldn't taste either the chipotle or the honey on the corn. It was also pretty mushy. The salad was probably my favorite part of the meal. The mashed potatoes weren't the best, and the waitress totally forgot our beans. I love the Cattlemen's in Dixon and was hoping it would be similar, but it's not unfortunately. read more

The layout of the restaurant is beautiful. Large doors and hallways that lead to other areas of the restaurant really make it an experience to visit. However, the customer service is lacking and the food was not appealing. Food: was served cold and on one plate you could see dry blood from the steak on the white plate. They comped that plate from the bill. But all the other plates were similar in temp and layout. It took 45 min to be seated party of 8 30 min for beverages order 20 min for drinks arrival Then at some point the cold dinner was platted like anther 25 min later My family came up to visit us from Southern California and this was our first dinner together. Came for dinner and drinks. Specifically came for happy hour from 4-6 but that was a bust as there are currently no specials or happy hour! So I will write a tip to be sure all are aware of this. We would have came later and avoided traffic if we had known. They are out of tumble weed but I asked what they would substitute and they said the Rustler potato skins! Yum! Normally cost more to upgrade to these. So scored! Ordered the ribeye and guess what? It had tumbleweed onion on top! Hmm interesting they had it for on top of ribeye but not as a appetizer. I ordered a upgrade to a sweet potato and he ordered upgrade to garlic fries. When our good arrived both of us had garlic fries. I told waiter I was supposed to get a sweet potato. He brought one out for me and I got to keep garlic fries to. Scored again! Their misfortune was my blessings! I had to ask for steak sauce and ketchup. Waiter brought A1 sauce. Came back again now that things are reopening! Cattleman's is quite covid conscious and spaced their customers out a lot. We were the only table in our row of booths! For 3 people, we ordered 34 oz of prime rib and a thing that is the 50 year favorite. The 50 year favorite was pretty tasty and great in value! For $22, you get quite a big piece of steak, a side (potato/mashed potato/fries), and a complimentary drink. You could order almost any drink off the menu, including wine!! As always, the prime rib is super solid and I loved it!! It was so soft and the horseradish compliments the flavor so much!! I truly believe that it is a must get here!! I live 40 minutes away from this place and would never hesitate to make a trip just for this place :) read more

Tried Cattlemen on Mother's day 2024. We arrived at 12:00pm reservations and were seated right away. I enjoyed the booth seating area. The young lady that waited on us was very nice. The mother day special was steak and lobster tail with a baked potato, pinto beans, garden salad and a loaf of sour dough. The food was really tasty and I enjoyed. The only negative is that they advertised a free rose for Mother's Day but I was told they did not received them in time. For the taste, price, service and location we will be sticking with Texas Road house. We will definitely come back for Veteran's Day. read more
