They were seasoned well and tasted pretty bland. My favorite was probably the steak only cause they were a few pieces that at least had some fat and juiciness to them; plus the A1 sauce helped. The service was pretty bad too. We had about 2-3 servers that barely checked on us and only came once for a refill. I know there was maybe 35 of us but still, the service was slow. My favorite item on the menu was the free complimentary bread and butter; this was freshly baked and tasted really good. I was in town for business and it was close to my hotel. I have seen Cattleman's but have never been to one. I sat at the bar for my meal and watch the game. It was tough to find an open spot because of dirty dishes that hadn't been bussed. It took 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention and order a beer despite a very light crowd. I finally ordered my steak and was asked if I wanted "pink or no pink". Kind of surprised to be asked this at a steakhouse but ok? Spoiler......it was NOT pink. Our server "Stacy" was knowledgeable due to her decades of serving at this restaurant and her very direct recommendations were spot on. Dessert - The Carrot Cake was huge moist, and delicious with just hints of coconut and a sprinkling nuts. Cattleman's NEVER disappoints-EVER. We had a brand new server named JACK- what an awesome server. He was on his 2nd day working there and we have been going there for 36 years and never had a better server than this young man. He was prompt and came back to check on us multiple times. We ordered the full rack of ribs and the salmon - so many ribs on the full rack we took 1/2 the rack home. Perfectly cooked - the bread always hot with butter tastes better than any sourdough I've had in S.F. The salmon always perfect with dill sauce and all you can eat salad can't be beat. When he asked for a hot one, they returned him with another one partially hot and partially cold. Apparently it was nuked in the microwave. Nevertheless, why not do it right? I went to Cattlemen's Sunday night for dinner with a friend. Except for a month ago, I haven't been to Cattlemen's for over 20 years. I had to write about the great experience I had. The steak Caesar Salad was delicious and a great value. Our server Alex was so helpful and accommodating. I found out it was his first day. I was very impressed on how pleasant he was and apologized for not knowing 1 small detail. Honestly how could you know everything on your first day! We also were introduced to the manager. I haven't written a review in a long time, but the service and attention from their manager Liz is what motivated me to write one today. My family and I casually popped over here for dinner since we were in this area and little did we know how popular this joint is. As a walk in, we waited patiently (i have a 3yrs old and 6 yrs old) and the manager Liz was just so amazing to us while we were waiting. She offered us bread + butter and a plate of fruit ! She even went above and beyond and made a table for us since we were waiting for 1+ hours. Once we sat down, Liz stepped out of her managerial role and was kind enough to take our orders and wait on our family. Liz + staff made sure to check on us, keep our drinks filled, table cleared, and remembered to grab little things we'd request such as horseradish and a side of butter (esp how busy this place was!) The ambiance of this place definitely has your cowboy ranch style with wooded beams, statues, and animal fixtures on the wall. Boy is this place busy so be sure to make a reservation and don't be a walk in like us ! The hosts and staff run this place very well from my observation making sure every reservation gets seated right away. They also accommodate large groups of people 8+! This restaurant is huge & how amazing the staff run it smoothly, you would've never known! Food: Bacon wrapped shrimp: this was def my fav dish thus far ! Even my son who hates seafood ate it up! Great good at unbeatable prices!!! Most of our party ordered the ribeye and prime rib. My ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium however they don't really season the steak so I just added salt to my liking! Unfortunately the prime rib was a bit disappointing. Ever since I've tried HOPR my standards are set super high. If you're debating between the two, get the rib eye. The sourdough bread with butter was also amazing! Everything else was pretty standard.
