The steak is on par with the quality of Texas Roadhouse. The twice-baked potato was delicious. I grew up eating twice-baked potatoes since my grandma would make them every Thanksgiving or Christmas. First and last time here. The only thing that was good was the onion appetizer. Ordered the western cut prime rib. When it came out it looked good. First bite, though a bit dry and chewy. Cut the cross section to find out why. Some how they achieved medium rare outside but the whole steak was well done! That tells me it had been sitting out a long time! The beans had way too much seasoning in it. Brussels sprouts were over charred half way to the center making a very bitter bite. I don't normally do reviews but today I was baffled. The review "Adam" had posted was completely wrong. I was sitting waiting for a table in the lobby and a family walked in like everybody else who had to wait on the waitlist; we waited. Then suddenly Adam's family got verbally upset out of no where demanding to be seated yet others who were ahead were still waiting prior, I don't even think they waited more than 10 minutes. After his family verbally harassed the poor hosts and the manager Quinn, he stood there demanding to write a bad yelp review and causing a scene coming in and out of the door obviously trying to stir trouble!!! Just because of that I knew I had to write this, the professionalism that the manager and the hosts had were far beyond amazing! They handled it very well, even gave the family their contact information!!! I'm so sorry that they have to deal with people like that, not do they have great food they also have great service. We have been to Cattleman's in Livermore several times in the last few months and each time the food was exactly perfect and the service was outstanding. Nice to see when management makes good choices in cooks, servers and hospitality personnel, and those individuals rise to that expectation and excel. Something that is not nearly as common as it once was. I have a small business and I know how hard it is to keep good people on staff and motivated. Well, I used to not like this place but it's because I wasn't getting the salmon entered and bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer. The never ending salad is always so insanely crisp and delicious, I always end up making either a salmon salad or bacon wrapped shrimp salad with my entree. We've tried the ribs before and I didn't love them, I've ordered a burger before and it wasn't the best. But the salmon! And my fiance always ordered a steak he is always happy with. We have only had amazing servers at this establishment that are so very nice and attentive, thankfully we haven't had a single experience here yet. I really like this place. This is straight up an unpretentious steakhouse that offer, good steaks/other dishes at reasonable prices, great service, comfortable spaces and the food is delicious (highly recommend the Brussels Sprouts). No, it's not fancy, but that's the appeal. This is such a great place to have a nice meal with the family. The servers always make sure we are enjoying our meal and it's what we asked for. We've been coming here for a few years now and they are always consistent about serving bread that's delicious, warm and the butter!!!! It's so good! I love the unlimited salads for the table. They have a good happy hour- $6-$10 per item on specific drinks, and food items. I had the raspberry lemon drop- it was good (sweet) but good. I ordered the 8 oz Sirloin medium rare, it was cooked to perfection. The meal came with a side salad and ranch beans. The salad was fresh and the beans were very good. Hot sourdough bread topped off the meal. Our reservation was for 6:00 pm and we were seated immediately. The waiter was very attentive and checked on us throughout our meal. Great prime rib dinner (large salad, fantastic bread, and sides) to go with large (can be shared) cut of prime rib at a fair price. What makes the dinner even greater is Sabrina our favorite server. This place is a bargain compared to other steakhouses. When was the last time a manager stopped by your table to make sure everything was great. We have not done happy hour but must be great cause all stools and tables filled as we peeked inside the bar area. We make the trip to Cattlemens at least once or twice a month for a prime rib fix. This place used to be good and has gone way downhill. Trash food and trash experience tonight. The meals were not cooked to order and the vibe from the waiter staff is appropriate for a mortuary. Six of seven meals came out together. Ribs, NY steak, Filet, Prime Rib and two of three burgers. The filet was undercooked and had to go back, the prime rib was over cooked and looked like leather from sitting under a heat lamp. It was supposed to be med-rare and was grey all the way thru. It had to go back. The burgers lacked flavor and tasted like charcoal and the kids didn't eat them. The 3rd burger arrived over 20 minutes after, it was also a charcoal burger and didn't have any of the condiments or produce that was asked for. In the end, the prime rib was replaced and was cooked properly but lacked flavor, the filet was microwaved until it was well done. They didn't have wet wipes for the ribs so they brought wet napkins. We also had to hunt the server down just for refills. The manager walked thru a few times and never acknowledged or checked on any tables. Total failure at managing this place. I recommend you find another steakhouse if you're looking for flavor, value, and staff that have a personality. read more

I ordered beef ribs, wife ordered the rib eye. chowder was good, salad was good. beef ribs were average at best. wife only ate half her steak( way over salted) the beans used to be good bbq beans until they cumin'd and over salted them( not eaten) our server was the only good thing tonight. I would have to say this is my favorite restaurant in the Tri-Valley. Everything is perfect from walking to the door and leaving bellies full of food. Favorite dessert is the fried apple pie. This joint has been going downhill for years!! It's 6 pm, and it's a GHOST TOWN, I thought it was Frisco!! I can totally understand why! I placed a Baby Back Pork Ribs, Baked Potato, a Heineken, and Calamari appetizer order. The Baby Back ribs were warm, it was subpar at best. It tasted like a McRib! Being no service help was insight, and that manager from MODESTO, isn't WORTH BEANS!! I grabbed my plate, and carried it to the kitchen entryway, there I met the cook, and completed an explanation handoff. The Baby Back Rib plate was returned to me 15 minutes later, in the same crappy Luke warm condition. That's it!!! I'll toss the damn thing into my microwave once I get home! The good: Service was outstanding. Place was nice, clean and well maintained. Seems to be well run I had a Prime Rib meal, medium, and taste was great, but... The Bad: It was the toughest prime rib I have ever had. I tried 3 or 4 bits from different areas, all were extremely tough, end up spitting all four out. Could not see any visible gristle, just unbearably impossible to chew. I have never sent a meal back, and while I hesitated, when asked if I wanted something else, I finally said yes, and they brought me a half rack of Baby back ribs. When the Steak Slaps and the Staff Steal Your Heart So tonight I finally stopped at that restaurant I always pass and say, "One day, I'm going to treat myself." Well, folks -- that day came, and my taste buds are now writing thank-you notes to me. First, Manager Jess came over like the restaurant's version of a guardian angel. Our waiter was overwhelmed... had to asked for salad abd bread as it never came 15 after we received our appetizer. We has the onion strings for app and it was horrible. It was cold and soggy like it was precooked and sat out 30min. I ordered the porterhouse and cooked medium. It was a joke. It was cut horribly. It was about 3" thick at bone to about 3/4" at edge of meat... so edges wherever welldone and middle was bloody rare not even medium rare.
