Came here for lunch for a birthday celebration. We had reservations and were seated right away. The server seemed backed up so it took him a while to get to our table, which wasn't a big deal (at first). However, there was never any mention of the birthday the entire time even though we put it on the reservation, so that was a little disappointing. He seemed very rushed and flustered, yet the restaurant was only about half full at that time. We ordered the food and drinks together for the sake of time. The burger definitely did not disappoint. It was delicious and came to out right away. I was halfway through my meal and finally received my drink. They said the bartender was backed up, but we ordered the premade slushie drinks so I didn't think it would take that long. I usually don't like the premade drinks because they're either too sweet or watery, but this one was thick and had a great flavor. I am extremely disappointed in my salad takeout order- I paid $20 for a skimped over salad that had all but a pinch of toppings in it (see photo). The presentation of the holiday cocktails was so gorgeous! Mine came with a frozen Christmas tree and flavored ice cubes. So adorable and tasty. We both got the Americana burger and loved it. I got the default side salad but you can upgrade to fries or onion strings. The burger packs a punch of flavor. I even added pickled jalapeños to mine which added even more kick. It's definitely a solid burger--don't get me wrong--but I wouldn't call it the best burger ever. I swapped the side salad for fried onions (a small upcharge), and it was absolutely worth it. We came here during happy hour, but honestly we were here for one thing, their famous burger. The happy hour menu has some discounted apps and drinks. The $9 frozen cocktails were perfect for a warm afternoon. I got the mission fruit stand which is a blend of their other two frozen cocktails. We ordered the happy hour ceviche but I guess the order was wrong because we ended up with the regular poke instead. I thought the fish was good, nice big pieces and flavorful. The taro chips weren't it though. Tasted kinda stale and added nothing to the dish. A regular tostada would be a better options. The Americana burger is as good as people hyped it up to be. The causwell sauce plus a side of their aioli, we demolished this burger with a quickness. It's $20 but if you want a quality burger, it's worth it IMO. Fries were cool too. I finally made it to Causwells after seeing a TikTok claiming someone literally moved to SF just for their burger - curiosity got the best of me, and I'm glad it did. Walking in, the first thing I noticed was the service was a bit inconsistent. We got seated before another table, but somehow they were helped first. Our waiter also got distracted talking to people outside while we were trying to place our order. Not terrible, but definitely noticeable. Now, onto the main reason to come here - the Americana Burger. Honestly, it's next-level. Every bite hits that perfect American burger vibe, and the crispy onions are a nice touch - perfectly salted, crunchy, and irresistible. The burger is just so well put together that it makes up for the service missteps. Would I come back? Absolutely - but mostly for the burger. I feel like since Saratoga became "members only", Causewells burgers are handsdown, the best in the city. I havent dined in person in a while, but they really upped their cocktail game as well! This gin cocktail I featured the the cutest little bubble ice cubes. My date's (whiskey?) drink cup had been dipped in a Med inspired pistachio crunch. Very thoughtful. In the past I've had their deviled eggs which are wonderful. We also tried their new burger which did not dissapoint. I will say the onion shoestring fries are under seasoned in my humble opinion. I followed The Infatuation list of 'The Best Burgers In San Francisco' however Causwells is NOT top 10 for me. The patty was overcooked; the bun, was too dry and took up too much of the bite. They served the burger with a simple side of lettuce, no other vegetables and tossed in a little dressing. Overall I was not impressed and if I brought visitors/tourists I would have been embarrassed. Zuni's Cafe and Little Original Joes (on the corner) has better burgers. We have tried to do walk ins so many times while in the Marina, and we never have a chance. So added it to our list of places to make a Friday reservation. Bam! We walked in Friday at 6:27 for our 6:30 reservation. We were seated at a cute two top next to couples on both sides. Of course we wanted to see what they were eating and they wanted to see what we got. So friendly. We started with a hazy ipa and the baklava old fashion. So delicious!! The only issue is that the ice cube was huge and the alcohol was small. Also there was a pistachio nut garnish glued on the side of the mug with honey which was random. Still scrumptious! Then on to octopus on garlicky hummus. Yum! He had the chicken sandwich and fries. It had slaw and a big old piece of chicken. It was big enough to share but I had the Caesar. Our server was super along with everyone else there. They just seemed to like their night. Good vibes. I'm just downgrading to four stars because it was really cold and the door was open. Came here around 6pm on a weeknight and snagged a table outside which was great. They had some heaters running too which is always appreciated and made for a nice ambience on a nice day. Service was a little slow at first but not a huge issue. We got started with these crispy layered potatoes which I was super excited to try. They were good but nothing to write home about. Glad I tried them though since I keep seeing them everywhere. Maybe it was the sauce that I wasn't vibing with The burger was why I decided to check this place out. My friend says it's the best burger she's had in SF, and maybe it's because I'm not huge on burgers to begin with but I thought it was fine. Nothing too spectacular, it's more elevated than just going to In-N-Out. It definitely hits the spot if that's what you're craving. The restaurant was a little busy so I could understand a couple of things taking time, however we ordered the ricotta and it took about 20 mins to come out. No big. But what made me upset was that the tables seated after us were getting their food before us, when we especially ordered all the food when we sat down. At this point it was 9 pm and we hadn't gotten our Americana burgers yet, and I was wondering how it takes an hour to bring out two burgers at this point. Our waiter wasn't even checking in on us the entire time we were there. He only took our order and brought the cheese and left us alone after that. We finally flagged him down and he was like "oh I put in the order for the ricotta and waited for you to be done with the appetizer to put in the burgers" but we everything ordered when we sat down...so why would you wait an hour to put in our next order?? Idk it honestly annoyed the hell out of me. Was the burger worth the hour wait? No I don't think so. But the burger was good. Would I wait 2 hours again for it? No lol. I came with a bigger group of 8-9 people, and the servers were very attentive to our table :) The food was also very good - I personally had a burger, and it definitely was a top 5 burger for me. A few of my friends got the fried chicken sandwich and they really enjoyed that as well. One of my friends got the wings though and the pickled vegetables in it were very very acidic and vinegary - it was not my cup of tea personally. I would come back for the burgers though and maybe also to try a drink! I also really like the menu - the subtitles are very cute !! Finally got to try this place this past weekend. I heard they are known for their burgers so I opted to try one even though I'm not the biggest burger person. I will say it was a pretty juicy burger. I added jalapeños, so it had a little kick, which I loved. The mango sticky rice cocktail was so good, if you like a creamy cocktail and you love mango this is the perfect choice. Cocktails were all great to be honest. Some other highlights were the baklava old-fashioned and the Pims cup. They all were so cute and tasted very good. I will definitely be back here. The restaurant is cozy with lots of soft lighting, and you don't feel cramped either. They seem to err on the side of more citrusy flavors -- both the salad and the linguini was more acidic than we were expecting. The salad almost made you pucker a bit, but the linguini was well-balanced (after getting over the initial shock). Portions were well-sized too! There wasn't an overwhelming amount of pasta like other restaurants that just makes you feel heavy after a meal. I definitely see myself coming back here again. read more
