I came with a group of friends on a weekend night for a casual start to the evening. We had booked a time a few days in advance, given that we'd come during busier hours. Once most of our party was here, we got seated at an outside seating area that was marked as reserved. The atmosphere and decor struck a great balance between welcoming and elegant. The space had earthy tones, flattering lighting, and various layouts of seating layouts. The bar itself was beautifully displayed. We ordered various drinks and some small bites. Yuka fries, ceviche clasico, carne asana tacos, al pastor tacos. The chips were solidly crisp, crunchy, and paired very well with the ceviche. The carne asana tacos with the salsa macha was juicy and perfectly done, and my favorite small bite of the night.. The Yuka fries were perfectly salted and the aioli dip was exactly what you'd want out of fries. My friends recommended the Kiwi and I found it refreshing, almost like a drink you'd have at a spa or so. I also tried the Oaxacan, which was styled like an old fashioned. I thought it was fair, but if I were to pick a favorite out of the two, the Kiwi would be my choice. Even with a busy crowd, the service was attentive and checked on us every so often. Was excited to try this rooftop and really liked the drink menu options! I had the opportunity to try lots of fruity drink and liked most of them! They do go heavy on the ice with some of the drinks but they all came out in different glasses, different sizes, and different flavors. It was fun tasting them all. My favorite was the watermelon and guava. I would definitely come back for the drinks. I didn't enjoy the food, and here's where it went wrong. We first got our chips and salsa. The chips are seasoned like Doritos so there's a nice flavor but the seasoning is in consistent. Some pieces were SO salty and some had no seasoning. The salsa is pretty rich as well. When our ceviche came, I ate a bite without the seafood and it tasted fishy. When I tried the actual seafood part, I knew it went bad because it had such a strong odor. We had to send it back but saw them serving it to other people. I eat a lot of seafood and I don't mind a slight fishy taste but this was definitely a food poisoning situation. After that it took a very very long time to get our last dish. Unfortunately when it finally came out, it was a disappointment. The octopus texture tasted like it had freezer burn, then was over cooked, sat too long after it was cooked because they had to make the fries. The fries were fresh but the octopus was dry, cold, hard, and chewy. I've had lots of pulpo before and this was a let down. Went here on a Tuesday night with a reservation, which probably was not necessary, but it definitely helped us get a table! We were looking for a rooftop view and a chill spot to catch up, and this was perfect. I got the Paloma while my friend ordered the Naked & Famous. Both were really good and not overly sweet. We also got the guac to snack on while chatting. The vibes are great, and it seems like a popular spot for people heading here after Chase Center events or Giants games because it got pretty busy around 10pm.. on a Tuesday   It is a bit pricey, but I'd say it's only worth it if you're just going out for one drink and want the rooftop view and the vibes. read more

Came here with a group of four after a Giants Friday night game and we were let up pretty quickly; there wasn't a huge line around 10pm. There is a really cool view of the baseball field and plenty of space for people to stand or sit and talk. I tried their piña colada and it was very good. My partner and friends ordered some food (quesabirria and oysters) and lovedddd it. They have a good selection of cocktails and food on their menu and everything came out relatively quickly considering how busy they were. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. One of the workers saw my friend and I were struggling to bring over our food and drinks to where our partners were, so he jumped in and helped carry some of our items to our area. Cavana, in my opinion, is one of the best rooftop spots in SF. Located on top of the LUMA Hotel, you get stunning views of the East Bay, the Bay Bridge, and even Oracle Park. Yes, rooftop bars in the city are pricey, but you're not just paying for the view here! The vibes, drinks, and food are all on point. I also love that they have fire pits for those chilly nights (which is... most nights, honestly). For food, I've tried the guacamole and the quesabirria tacos. Both were great, but the braised beef birria with that consommé was especially amazing. They even do a Christmas-themed menu during the holidays, which is such a fun touch. Love this spot! We came here on a Monday night for happy hour before an event and our server was Bailey! He was very kind and attentive, asked us if we wanted blankets since it was windy. The food was superb, we had the patatas with chorizo/ chips and Guac. Great bites to pregame with. For drinks we tried the guayaba, kiwi, and pisco punch. All delicious and Bailey told us they were the most popular drinks so definitely try them out. We will 100% be back to try more of the menu! read more

Always a fun spot to go on a weekday after a particularly gruesome day of work or whenever you have a friend visiting out of town! I've actually never made a reservation and always had pretty good luck with getting in almost immediately upon lining up downstairs. They serve quality cocktails, all their drinks are very smoothly (and highly dangerous because of how smooth they are). I always go for any of their clarified milk cocktails, I'm actually hooked on their Kiwi 19, it is so tasty and smooth! It's also always fun chatting it up with the bartenders up there, there's always a fun group working on your drinks. Small bites are pretty good here, a bit pricy and the portions aren't too large, but I'd recommend grabbing dinner somewhere nearby at Spark Social or at the Chase Center and moseying over to Cavana for some small sharable tapas and great drinks to end a good night out. read more

It's a large, beautiful rooftop lounge & restaurant on the top of the Luma Hotel. We shared the guacamole, fried chicken yucca fries & ceviche. All items were good but I probably liked the yucca fries & chicken the most. I ordered the fish tacos as an entree & it was a good sized order, almost unable to finish it because of eating the shared appetizers. We shared the vanilla custard for dessert, which was the perfect end to our meal. I had a mango frozen cocktail which was pretty good. This is about a block and across the canal from Oracle park and was great for watching baseball games. Cavaña is an ode to Central and South America. It mixed with flavors, culture and heritage foods and drinks from Latin America. The name Cavaña comes from two of Latin America's most iconic spirits: Agave + Caña = Cavaña. Mixing the complexity of mezcal and tequila to rum and cachaça, Cavaña brings the flavor of Latin America to the urban San Francisco. Guayaba $19 Husband ordered this cocktail mixed with Real Del Valle tequila reposado, guava, rose petals, vanilla, mommenpop aperitif, and lime. Served in crushed ice and the smell of rose petals was phenomenal. Sandia $19 I ordered the Sandia with the lost explorer tequila blanco, Mexican cucumber gin, aloe, watermelon, hibiscus gum, lime, and serrano. The spice was stronger than the other drink, with a hint of freshness from the fresh watermelon. Yuca Fries $12 We ordered the fries made from Cassava root, and on the side with rocoto aioli. Baja Fish Tacos $22 We got the fish tacos with Negra modelo battered cod, cabbage, cilantro, onions, and aji panaca. Three pieces per order which was a good portion for 2 adults. They are mostly snack bites rather than full meals, but I'd say if you have an average sized appetite you could get away with eating their dishes. Cavaña was impressive! If you want to impress a date take him or her to salsa Sundays at Cavana it's awesome! They have a live salsa band that plays from 5pm to 8pm on Sundays and the rooftop views while you are cutting a rug and drinking a modelo are amazing. You can see the ball park and the bay bridge so clearly. I can only imagine how it would look like during a giants game. The service was great those trendy ladies that work there are the sweetest. We had the chicken Cesar salad and the chicken skewers. Those chicken skewers were so good I almost ate the Woden sticks. I was impressed by everything there. They even have a cool elevator that takes you right to the 17th floor roof. It really caters to everyone. If you want to party here loud music and dance head to the west side of the restaurant if you want a quiet chill spot overlooking the bridge and the ballpark you head can head to the east side of the restaurant and there are 2 bars to choose from. A giants game just finished so there was a line to get in but it went by quick. It's really pretty inside! Modern and fun. Cavaña is a really cute bar that can be whatever you want it to be. It can be a cozy lounge by the firepit and it can also be that clubby vibe if you catch the DJ on a weekend night spinning some absolute bangers. The food was actually delicious. I had the Ahi Tuna tostada that was VERY pricy but it had a ton of flavor and the amount of fish was very generous. The molcajete salsa and chips was bomb. It's not super shareable and the servings are pretty small. You're going to drop a lot of cash here if you come on an empty stomach. I really liked their Sandia drink. It was flavorful and made with fresh ingredients with decent quality alcohol. The amount of actually good tequilas and mezcals they had was impressive. I suggest doing your research than paying for their flights. Anyway, during the holiday they decorate really cute and have a fun photobooth outside by the elevator that's around $6 for a cute little spot to make memories. PS... Chips are NOT gluten-free because of cross contamination BUT the tacos are because they are grilled and not fried. PRO TIP!!! If you want a place to have a seat, MAKE A RESERVATION! We went to their Nochebuena pop up and it was super cute! The Christmas decorations are definitely something you should check out. They have a Photo Booth when you step out of the elevator to your left. It does get pretty busy later in the night so I recommend going in there as early as possible. Walk-ins are usually available, but you might not get a table, so I highly recommend reservations to properly enjoy the experience, especially on a weekend. On Friday and Saturday nights, the music is louder and it can get quite packed. The cocktails are fantastic. All are $19. My favorites (in descending order) include: KIWI - mezcal espadin, singani, kiwi fresca, hoja santa, lime, milk clarified, served on a large clear rock in a thin glass. Crisp, spirit forward, but refreshing. The clarification allows the acidity to shine without any tart or sour notes, resulting in a very smooth, well balanced cocktail. My favorite by far. TAMARINDO - venezuelan rum, clarified tamarind, seville orange apéritif, amaro. Spirit-forward and bittersweet but balanced BANANO - venezuelan rum, banana milk, px sherry, coffee liqueur, cold brew float. Served with crushed ice in tall glass. Delicious and creamy, good as a closing drink. ELOTE - roasted corn infused reposado tequila, red vermouth, oaxacan pasilla chile liqueur. Drinks like a tequila manhattan with a kick. Strong and spirit forward. OAXACAN OLD FASHIONED - reposado tequila, mezcal espadín, ancho demerara, mole bitters, flamed orange. Pretty standard mezcal/tequila split old fashioned, but well executed and reliable. The food is also solid, although a bit pricey for what you get. The items we got last time include: SALSA MOCAJETE ($9) - charred tomato, chiles, barrio spiced chips. A nice snack when the guacamole is too extra. GUACAMOLE ($18) - brokaw avocados, pico de gallo, pepitas, queso cotija, herbs. Solid. CARNITAS TACOS ($19/3pc) - puebla-style carnitas, tomatillo salsa, chopped onion, cilantro, radish. What a beautiful spot I made a reservation for our anniversary and the hostess,Kitty, did not disappoint us at all! We were early but got seated right away in a lovely table on their patio with heat lamp on top and fire pit on our table which felt really nice on a windy day :) They surprised us with sparkling wine for our anniversary too... Thank you I tried Guayaba and Tamarino which were nice. Not too strong but had good flavor. We ordered so many small plates which satisfied us. Yucca fries were very good, soft and chewy. Their ceviche was different than normal ceviche. The sauce though....... Taco, salad and chicharhonnes de pollo were great as well. I would say most people went there to enjoy the view more than food. For me, other rooftop places provide better view(because this place has so many tall buildings nearby) BUT Cavana has such a great ambiance inside which I really enjoyed it! Not sure how you have a restaurant with no parking! We drove an hour into the city from our hotel in San Ramon and were willing to pay the $45 valet fee but it was a game day unbeknownst to us. When we got there for a reservation the valet turned us away and said we would have to try to find street parking. We drove around for almost an hour looking for parking - but obviously we had to cancel our reservation and were unable to eat at the restaurant. So sad and disappointed. read more

Came here for an after party drink venue. It was cute place. Located up at the top of a hotel next to the Giants stadium. It was so pretty to see at night with all the holiday lights. The inside was festive, ready for Christmas. They had a Dj playing some good beats. everyone kept saying it was a slower night since we were still in the holiday season. It seemed fine for me. it gave a "Vibe lounge" and that seemed great. There are seats by the DJ that are first come first serve. There are actual seats in the back where I am guessing is the restaurant area. There is also outside seating everywhere, with heat lamps so you aren't too cold in the SF city nights.
