Well I love the Cava In Fenway so when we say the new cava in backbay, we were excited. Well first, there were all of two people working when the line of customers was very long and then a few random employees milling around doing absolutely nothing 8 felt like I was bothering them when ordering my food. Second, They were out of most food and sauces or scraping the bottoms of the bins to get food out of them. The back line was covered in dirty bins and utensils, it was foul. Then as were walking to our seat we noticed the garbage mountain (see photo). It was over flowing everywhere, disgusting. Then two employees went on break and were sitting right across from the garbage mountain, laughing at it and putting more stuff on top of it. I have never been more disgusted in a place like this. It needs some serious TLC. read more

Management, this happened at 12:00PM, 11/2/18. Wait in line for 20 minutes. Went through the process of ordering and watching my bowl pass between 10 different people. Pay for my food. They hand me someone else's food and then grab me as I'm leaving to tell me I was given someone else's by mistake. I go back to the register to get my bowl to find that they have no idea what happened to it, and asked if I would wait while they made another bowl. Pushing 30 minutes waiting for lunch, I just asked them to refund me instead. Unapologetic. Really cruddy operations and order tracking for a fast line-style place. Go visit Dig Inn, Sweet Green, Boloco, even Chipotle, before risking not getting your lunch here. read more

Friday evening, casual dining with friends. It was busy, but no real wait, right in, quick expedient line, plenty of seating. The staff was upbeat, friendly and fun. Generous portions in my wonderfully flavorful bowl (arugula, chicken, harissa, cucumber tzatziki, red pepper hummus, kalamata olives and tons of veggies) and WOW, just WOW. I didn't know what the harissa was so they gave me a sample and when I told them how delicious it was, they were generous in their offering on my meal. Cava just opened on Boyleston (near Copley, NOT near Hynes - that's one of their other locations), and it's similar to some other good lunch spots (sweet green, dig in), but with a Mediterranean twist. It's nice to have even more options in this realm. The inside is cute, and it's relevant to note that there is additional seating downstairs! I highly recommend doing a bowl instead of a wrap because you get pita on the side and it's way larger. You get an option of various greens (don't recommend the super greens because there are some inedible chops in there leading to my -1 star) and/or rice and lentils, 3 sauces (the red is very spicy - yay!), a protein of your choice (I had lamb meatballs / tasty, but a bit dry), as many toppings as you want (yay!!! Finally a place that doesn't limit the piling on - cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, etc), and a dressing. They also have a variety of iced teas and a watermelon Fresca drink. The watermelon was a bit too sweet for me, but nice and summery. Overall, it's a great addition, and similarly priced to other options in the area. If they stop using inedible pieces in the super greens I'd give it a 5! read more

I have tried almost everything on their menu, and the falafel is some of the best I have had in town. So good! Cava is my new favorite lunch spot. I've been 4 times since they opened a few weeks ago, and loved almost all of the combinations of ingredients I have tried. With places like this, it's always a little bit of trial and error, since they don't have pre-composed bowls. I have tried the chicken and the baked meatballs, and prefer the chicken more. Have also heard great things about their falafel (but strangely it's more caloric than both chicken and meatballs...). I usually get half/half arugula and power greens, plus chicken, 3 scoops of tzatziki (haha i really like tzatziki! but you can get 3 different dips if you like), feta, onion & tomato, cucumber, cabbage and feta. A lot of the times I don't even get dressing, because the tzatziki and feta give enough seasoning. If you enjoy spice then definitely try the sriracha greek yogurt though, and the crazy feta dip. I look forward to going there in colder months and getting a mini pita plus soup combo. For now, the salad bowls have been working out great for me as they are filling but healthy (and not overly seasoned, like some of my old favorite places aka dig inn have started doing). I also like how their base price includes a protein, unlike some other competitors! So you can get a healthy balanced and fresh lunch for around $10. read more

MASKS?! Management needs to teach their staff how to properly wear masks. I stopped in for a to-go order today and I kid you not, 75% of the staff had at least had their mask below their nose. Multiple staff had the mask at their chin! I brought this to the attention of the first staff member on the line, that her bask wasn't covering any part of her face. She pulled it above her nose but it fell back down as she started to speak, to which I mentioned how pinching the nose piece will prevent it from falling down....and the fact having a mask on is technically the law right now and she is serving food...It is clear there is no actual enforcement of proper mask wearing at this location (Back Bay) and appears that most staff don't really seem care if they have their faces covered. read more

Super yummy and easy place to grab some healthy and hearty mediterranean food. They give you a nicely sized portion, and the flavors of all the sauces, hummus', and add ins are really delicious. I like that you can make your own bowl or choose one of their menu selections. Would definitely recommend coming here for a quick meal or a grab and go type of situation. This place is AMAZING. My new go to place in Boston. Think chipotle but for Mediterranean food. The perfect fast casual place that serves delicious food, has amazing customer service and a cute chic atmosphere. You start with a bowl of rice, greens, a mix of both, large pita or mini pita. Then you can add one protein, three sauces, and unlimited toppings. The sauces are delicious. I highly recommend the tzaziki or eggplant. Love the falafels here! They're unique in that the filling is chunky so you can really taste the chickpeas. Lamb and chicken are also solid choices. Ive been to a few cava's around boston, and this location in particular has amazing customer service. The servers are so kind and give you huge portions. Flavorful, affordable, and quick spot near Copley! We tried out Cava on a Sunday around 2pm for a late lunch. They feature grain bowls, salads, and pita wraps with all the Med toppings your heart desires. The interior is sleek and has bar and table seating. Just order at the counter while your dish is being made. I got the pita wrap which comes with the choice of three dips, a protein, all the toppings you'd like, and a sauce. I chose the red pepper hummus and regular hummus which they spread on equal sides of the warm pita bread. I then chose the falafel- super flavorful and had chunks of chick peas. For toppings I chose the tabbouleh- fresh and garlicy, white beans with herbs, tomato salad with red onions and herbs, and topped it all off with the tahini dressing. Delish! We also got a drink to share. They have several house-made teas and fruit drinks. I got the peach green tea and added a bit of the strawberry drink on top. So fruity and refreshing! Each wrap cost around $9 which I think is a good price considering the quality and location. This would be perfect for lunch any day of the week! read more

I have been to the Cava in NYC union square and was impressed. So when I found out they opened one in Back Bay, I had to see if it was just as good. I came with a friend and when she asked me what it was, the only way I knew how to describe Cava was "Mediterranean Chipotle". They have a menu in the front of the restaurant so be sure to grab one before you go in since they don't list the options inside (except the seasonal toppings/soups). I ordered the the saffron rice bowl with tzatziki, red pepper hummus, eggplant and red pepper dip and chicken. Very flavorful. One topping I recommend is the pita crisps. It gave my bowl an extra crunch. I've been eating greasy foods lately and after this meal, I felt healthy and good about myself. The pricing isn't bad either! read more

First - Cava is awesome. Our local one knocks it out of the park every time. If you're heading to this location - DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. Make sure you snag food in person; our online order had three meals, all of which were missing items, and two of them had bonus toppings thrown in. Great new lunch spot. Very similar concept to Verts/Noon but the flavors are better and overall much better executed. Think of it as sweet green, but with Mediterranean flavors. You pick your base/protein/sauces/add ons and head down the line. The bowl I had was delicious. I had the saffron rice bowl with chicken, 'crazy feta', red pepper hummus, tzatziki, cucumber salad, white bean salad, pickled cabbage and hot green harissa sauce. When Noon Mediterranean, formerly Verts, closed its doors I was disappointed by the loss of this restyle of food in the Back Bay area. A coworker told us Cava was similar and it is and then some. The chicken bowl is great and the dips and sauces really add some flavor. They do a heavy lunch business but they love the line through pretty quickly -- from a line outside the door to food in our hands in under 10 minutes. They have an app and offer online ordering so if you plan ahead that is definitely the way to go. Maine Root soda isn't my favorite but it gets the job done. A very solid choice in the fast casual game. read more

I just finished eating my first sandwich at Cava. Absolutely delicious. I got a pita wrap with half lamb meatballs and half veggies and a bunch of really excellent toppings. The pita alone was incredible and worth its own review! And the customer service could not have been better. I actually walked in the store before they were supposed to open for the day, but they made me a sandwich anyway, and could not have been nicer about it. I met Mariah and Brett and they have clearly done a phenomenal job with this store. What I ate was perfect and everything else look really good, and I was just so impressed by how friendly everyone was there! I was not expecting that in downtown Boston. Loved the Chicken bowl. Wife and daughter are vegans and they got their own custom vegan bowl. They all tasted really good. It was the white collar lunchtime rush when I stopped in to Cava. The line was long, but it moved quickly. I had never been there before, so I didn't exactly know the protocol. The menu stated that you could get a bowl or a pita for the same price; around 8 or $9. I wanted to get a pita to eat later in the day, but when I ordered it, they just put it on the side of the bowl. I thought I could get it filled with stuff. The menu isn't very clear about that and no one seemed to have the time or energy to explain that to me. As for the meal itself, it was delicious. I got half greens, half rice and topped it with tzatziki sauce, hummus, and a scoop of eggplant/red pepper. There are a ton of options to add on top, like tomatoes, Mediterranean veggie mix, onions, and other healthy options. CAVA is my new favorite fast casual dining in Boston! This place serves the best customizable mediterranean pita wraps or bowls! The ingredients are fresh, delicious and full of flavors. First you choose a base for your bowl which comes with grains (black lentils brown or white rice) and or greens. You can also opt for a pita wrap. Then you have a choice of 3 spreads. My favorites are tzatziki, crazy feta, harissa, and hummus. Then you get a choice of a protein. I have tried the grilled chicken and spicy lamb meatballs which are both super flavorful and delicious. Then you can add any toppings that your heart desires. I recommend getting the couscous, tomato and cucumber salad, kalamata olives, cabbage slaw, pickled banana peppers and feta cheese. At last, you can drizzle your choice of dressing on top. You can come up with endless combinations and flavor profiles. The workers are super friendly and the portions are generous. You will definitely leave CAVA feeling full and satisfy. The best thing is that it is super healthy and nutritious as well! read more

The first time I came here, it was great. Every time after has been a disaster. There is always a long wait at lunch time, so don't even think about going from 12pm-2pm without ordering online ahead of time. Still, even if you do that you may end up having to wait 10-20 minutes after your order is supposed to be up. Real fun way to cut into your lunch break. Plus, if there's something in your order that they ran out of, they'll just leave it off and not tell you. Get your food, sit down ready to eat, and realize you're missing a few things. It is so unacceptable. This place isn't going to last if they don't shape up. read more
