My husband and I used to go to CAVA in Irvine. We were both excited when CAVA opened near our house, but something has been changed. The portion was extremely small; the bowls were about half full. My salad looks kinda "sad," like leftover. We spent $40 for two salads, and this is disappointing. I've been to a lot of cava restaurants, and this is by far the slowest I have ever seen. It took us 25 minutes to get food. When we got up there, they were out of three of the main ingredients of the bowl. That's fine. I said I'll take it anyway. Then I go down to get utensils and find out that they are out of forks. Sauces, toppings, meat and veggies are consistently delicious. Once in awhile the lentils are hard and crunchy which is annoying but it's not enough to keep me from coming back. Their refresher drinks are always consistent in taste too. I recommend the cucumber one. The customer service here is spotty. Some of the workers look like they hate their job 60% of the time when I come in. One time I asked for pickles and the container had some left inside but the chick told me they were out of pickles. Like girl scoop it off the sides of the bowl then. Some of the managers snap at the workers too as well. I can feel the tension half the time when I come in. I only come in for dinner. My husband went to grab me dinner from here. I told him what I wanted and he followed instructions. But when I saw my bowl....it looked like a half serving. There was barely any rice, I asked for extra picked onions (which he said he specifically asked for) and there was only a little amount, and a real small portion of protein. My husband said the girl at the counter seemed new and wasn't really sure when making my bowl. Loved CAVA when i lived in LA. Unfortunately this location is terrible--they use a very small scooper for the add-ons, like laughably, pitifully small (think less than a tablespoon of stuff per scoop) that the bowl (which is not cheap) isn't filled to even halfway. I think many other reviews here echo the same sentiment. So stingy!!!! Food itself is good but doesn't justify the skimpiness, especially when other locations are much more generous. Hope things change but for now won't be returning to this particular location. read more

This location just opened. I'd say wait a little bit till they have the kinks worked out. They were out of a lot of the different toppings. As well as out of lettuce. It was kinda weird. I also felt like they were skimping me out of the amounts of various items. Normally my bowl is packed but it was maybe half way full. The meats were cold. Food was good but they were running out of certain ingredients. It was busy on Saturday nite around 7:00 no ice in the soda dispenser had to ask one soda was out, floor was not cleaned and tables not cleaned. Horrible. Is this like the Temu version of Cava? From the slowest service on Earth to asking for more protein (they literally put one piece of diced chicken after telling them you will pay extra) and they were out of garlic sauce at the end. That's the best part!!!! The black lentils were totally uncooked. It was like biting into rocks. Horrible. We have been to the Cava in Irvine, Goleta, and Costa Mesa and they were all amazing. Tried this location in HB on Adams and both times, so slow. Never going back. Going to stick to the Irvine location. read more

Let me start by saying we love Cava!! However this location is failing Cava!!!! Each time we've been to this location they have been out of stuff...from feta cheese, cucumbers to garlic dressing. Today they had NO gift cards. It's the holiday season and nothing! Signs promoting them, but nothing. Very disappointed in this Cava. Won't be going back even if we have to drive to Newport Beach or Long Beach...even Irvine. read more

Cava is great. Except for this particular location. Service is so slow, takes about 30-45 to get thru the line. Portions are noticeably smaller than other locations. Especially with rice and salad. This location is constantly out of most things. read more

I was so excited to try CAVA because I had heard great things about it and they finally opened right here in HB. I willl not be going back. We got 3 bowls and a salad. Everything was SO salty!!!! The portions were small, the gentleman went somewhere in the back to get white rice, they ran out of tzatziki sauce and it cost over $70!!!! So disappointed. Rude staff who clearly don't want to be there. The arugula here is also unacceptably bitter compared to other Cavas. Also I got scoops of literal air not once but twice! The worker simply went through the motions of scooping without any actual food falling out of the spoon into my bowl, incredulous. And every other ingredient and sauce was barely a teaspoon's worth. They said they were out of ingredients that I could see with my own eyes were not out, guess they think their customers are blind? In Irvine and Costa Mesa service is much friendlier and servings are nearly double. Why would I ever give this location my and my family's business when I can simply go to the other locations and get double for my money with a smile? They should learn from the other Cavas how to properly serve their customers if they want to retain business. read more

I was completely disappointed in this location for cava. The service was really slow even though they had about 6 workers up front taking orders. They ran out of many items at an early time. The toppings area was really dirty, and the toppings were overlapping each other. There was lettuce in the pickles toppings bowl. There was food everywhere; on the floor, counters, on top of the trash can. They had no ice in the ice machine. We asked a worker to refill the ice, and ended up leaving after 5 minutes. They had no utensils but knives as well. Possibly the worst cava experience. read more
