My fried cheese was very simple, they said it had lemon juice on it but I could not taste it. My lamb chops were to come with fries, but they kindly switched to Brussels sprouts. This place is excellent. It's not often you get a "city chic" restaurant in a strip mall [WITH PARKING!]. The door to enter is a bit hidden, but once inside you realize it gives you a vibe of exclusivity. Leave behind the parking lot and enter a place of great decor, good tunes and it feels like you're in DC or LA in an instant (unless you opt for an outdoor table - HA!). Enough of all that... what did we eat and how was it? Went for dinner. Had the lollipop chicken, crispy pork belly, spicy lamb sliders, and the mini pita (mini gyros). Everything was EXCELLENT. We will be back, and there will be a full list of new thing to try when we go. There are places where you spend a little more to get that extra attention to detail when it comes to your food; this is one of those places. The people preparing your meal cares about what comes out of the kitchen. I'm interested in the brunch, but when it comes to dinner, this is a great date spot. REVIEW of : CAVA Greek mezze, restaurant in Olney MD. When a place bills itself as essentially a Greek tavern, certain things are expected- this will be addressed in a moment. We arrived very early in the dinner rush, were seated by a charming hostess. Our drink order was fumbled three times by "Chris" our waiter, how hard is it to remember a brandy and a diet coke? Then when we'd looked and the menu, we made our selections... Only to be informed that the Taramosalata (caviar mixed into a creamy youghurt), and the Kalamarakia tiganita( battered fried squid) were both off the menu because they were out. AT 1730 hours?! The DAWN of dinner rush? I ordered a hummus plate and a seared pork dish, Julie ordered spanakopita and a watermelon salad..."Chris" was informed that if he came back to tell us any of those dishes were also 86, we were out of that place. He then proceeded to bring us the wrong entrée and switch it off our table expeditiously- before he was legally not allowed to bring it to the actual table without remaking it. No apology given. The food was mostly passable. The spanakopita may be the one saving grace...it was GODLY. The service was lackluster at best even for the beginning of dinner rush. "Chris" did not impress. If you're looking for Greek food in Olney...this is not your place. We turned down the offer of free dessert and paid roughly twice what those dishes *should* cost at a decent greek restaurant. Brunch items are not worth the price. About $9 for super tiny portion per plate. Some of the dishes are pretty good, but not that good that I would pay that much. I feel like brunch prices should be cheaper than dinner. In this case, it's about the same price but you get an egg and like 3 super duper tiny pieces of meat. Great spot for brunch. We went there for brunch and it was fantastic. Sooo much food so go there hungry and pace yourself. It's tapas style so the portions come on small plates and you can order as many as you want at any given time with the bottomless brunch option. There's also bottomless mimosas and you have your choice of 2-3 selections. I've been to their brunch previously at a dc location and this one wasn't any different as far as quality and timeliness. Overall great ! Tapas style makes for a great brunch with friends, sharing small plates. Reserved a table for 10 for a birthday, they were 30 MINUTES late seating us because the table before us did not abide by the 2 hour rule. They were very apologetic and allow you to get your mimosas early while you wait, but the restaurant is small so there isn't much space in the foyer/bar area. Find and she shall seek! We love a good brunch and we found one! All you can eat brunch menu for $35 and $.25 bottomless mimosas! What else can a girl want!! The store front is disguised as a typical restaurant.. BUT soon as you open the large wooden BEAUTIFUL NON typical door it's like walking into a restaurant-spa heaven! Very impressed by the ambiance and decor! We did make a reservation and did have a tiny wait time (about 5-10 mins) but it wasn't off putting. It wouldn't even have been noticed if we had seats while we waited. They did not have have a sitting area. So it was a bit awkward standing by the door waiting to be seated. But like I said the wait was so short it didn't bother us. Our waitress and the staff was very polite, fast, & knowledgeable! The food was BEYOND what we expected! & did I mention we traveled from Baltimore to Onley to try this place out. I hope I was able to capture how great our food was in these photos! Cava, thank you for helping me make my mom's birthday so special. You guys are amazing. We came here for dinner tonight and enjoyed tasting a good amount of the menu's offerings. We had saganaki, mac n cheese, lamb sliders, scallops risotto, eggplants, the dip tasting, and the chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Harissa to go too. Everything was done perfectly! We literally had 4 staff members ask my mom how she was enjoying her dinner and wish her a happy birthday... she felt so special. I sincerely appreciate the kindness that felt so genuine. Thank you. Arrived in town last night to celebrate Father's Day with my wife and her parents. I decided to take them to my 'go-to' restaurant -- Cava Meze! The food was good as usual, but what really made this experience memorable was our server, Willy. He was fun, knowledgeable, suggestive, and fast. He had an amazing personality and really knew how to take care of a guest. He even made my father-in-law laugh, which is hard to do (trust me). Although I am not in town very often, I will make sure I stop by Cava Meze in Olney and request Willy BY NAME every time I am. Thank you for this wonderful experience, Willy. My wife and I love this place and try to eat here at least once a week. In the, almost 2 years we've been coming here, I've only had one food issue: my steak was way overcooked. I told the waiter about it, and in no time, I had a perfectly cooked steak brought to the table. Perfect combination of great food and customer appreciation. I've read in other reviews that "it's too noisy"...granted, when it's busy, it can be pretty loud, but that's the case with all restaurants. They offer great happy hour deals. Every time we have gone to Cava the food has been good and the service has been friendly.

We made a reservation for 20 people for my birthday brunch (updated to 17 people night before the event). They have certain rules and terms you have to sign off on before they confirm the reservation (ex. 2 hours max, full party should be there before you're seated, everyone must do the bottomless brunch option), but I found these all to be pretty reasonable. When we arrived, the manager introduced himself and had seated some of my guests who already arrived. He was very friendly and addressed the seafood allergy I mentioned about one of my guests. We all had the bottomless brunch ($35/person) plus 25 cent mimosas. Everything was delicious! The plates are tapas style so even though they're small portions, everything tastes really good and you get the chance to try lots of different dishes. My favorites were the breakfast salmon, pork belly and eggs, Nutella waffles, and French toast. Also I got a birthday card for free dessert courtesy of the restaurant. We had 2 servers for our table. One of them was very friendly and cheerful while the other wasn't rude or mean, just noticeably not as happy to be there. Overall great experience. We went for an unlimited brunch. The food and drinks were great. The service, on the other hand, was not. We had a table in the bar area and were served by the bartender who only showed up to take our order, bring drinks, and 1 hour later offered us a check because he was closing his shift!! He never checked on our table and it got frustrating trying to get his attention since we wanted to order more food. When he finally came to our table giving us a check we mentioned that we would like a few more dishes. He repeated our order back to us and guess what, we were served only 1 dish out of the three we ordered. Ordered take out twice in the last few weeks and received no pita with hummus and baba ganoush. The second time, I specifically asked for extra pita knowing that it was "forgotten" the first time. My only conclusion is that you cannot get pita via take out regardless of the amount ordered. Also, my falafel was covered in tzadziki even though the description does not mention it comes on it. The Cava Mezze in Olney has an unusual entrance, not very inviting but once you get inside it perks up some. The feeling is very open and mod with warm old world touches. You can partially see into the kitchen, which I think helps the staff to time the tapas dishes coming out to you. Our server was decently attentive and I was glad when he cleared and cleaned the table partway through. He tried his best to make suggestions but really he mainly felt everything was good so not much help there. The pita bread with oil and tomato paste, literally. The pitas were on the doughy side and lacked any interest by themselves. A dip in the oil didn't offer much improvement, nor did what appeared to be placed simple tomato paste with a few spices in it, mostly something to make it hot, possibly cayenne, since it was just tomato flavor otherwise. We got past that onto drinks. Their version of a Moscow Mule, not one I prefer, very medicinal tasting and kept on tap. Our server gladly swapped it out for the freshly made Santorita, their style margarita. This drink had the makings of greatness for me. It could have been a little brighter and more intense. The fennel salt rimmed glass was a nice touch but there was no hint of cinnamon as promised. The tequila, Avion silver was very smooth, but they didn't use a lot of it either. The spanakopita was ideally crispy with nice amounts of spinach and salty feta within. Not the best I've ever had but good. The lamb sliders are impressive when they come out. They were almost lost inside of a largish soft and lightly toasted bun, probably challah bread bun. They were nicely cooked, maybe a touch too charred on one but it remained fairly juicy. The omnipresent tomato paste added some spice and interest to it, I would have liked more tzatziki sauce with it. The grilled cheese halloumi was my least liked. It was again shrouded in a huge challah bun, completely unnecessary exempt that they only give you a small portion and I guess they're trying to make it seem bigger. It had been grilled which sucked all of the moisture out, leaving it dry and grainy and rubbery. I had to ask for additional tzatziki sauce for it otherwise there would have been no getting through it. It would have been more unctuous had it been pan fried in a little butter. Not getting that again. For dessert we split the baklava. Rather than the traditional squares soaked in honey, they have it as a roll with a big plug of nuts inside, probably walnuts. This may be useful for tidy serving purposes and less waste, but it ruins the texture of a good baklava. The dough was quite tough in places and they had only dribbled the honey on last moment. Not much of a spice profile either. The best thing on it was a tiny ball of pistachio ice cream that I wanted more of and would have preferred to the entire dessert. In ending, I say that for nearly $100 including the tip for 2 diners and the small amount of food the restaurant puts out, I feel I should have been wowed. Each tapas should be a jewel of deliciousness, portraying in a few bites what makes that dish so worthy and amazing. Nothing is memorable except how boring it all was for Greek food. This is a problem I have at many restaurants these days however. Corporate or owners worry about appealing to the mass taste buds and the bottom line. They produce menus that look good on paper but their execution of them is truly lacking. If you're not as particular as I am you may find this to be acceptable and dine here often.
