Chicken is rotissing all day so it's the best thing there imo but one time i got the burger on some dumb shit except it was still fire. I have been to Caveman Kitchen twice and I really liked it both times so I will definitely be back! This is a hidden gem near USC and I recommend all USC students to try it before you graduate :) The first time I came I got the Lomo Saltado and 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken. I was disappointed by the Lomo Saltado because the beef was kinda dry and really oily. I have had better Lomo Saltado elsewhere so I would not recommend this. HOWEVER, the chicken was SO amazing. It wasn't just like any kind of rotisserie chicken. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. I regretted not getting a whole chicken. Other than the chicken, the GREEN SAUCE that came with the chicken was also delicious, not too spicy, but just perfect. I loved dipping my chicken in it! The second time I came I got the Hawaiian burger and it was REALLY good. The Hawaiian burger includes a big beef patty, grilled pineapple, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. The grilled pineapple really made the burger stand out and I enjoyed every single bite of it. Also the bread of the burger was also unique and better than other places. For the price of $5.85, I thought I was getting a great deal for a gourmet burger. I would rather pay this price over fast food anyday. I love the location and feel of this place. It gives a neighborhood restaurant feel with good flavors to their food. The portions were great and the staff was so nice and down to earth. I really appreciate having these spots in the neighborhood. The parking was difficult during lunch but street parking was fine. I've been here multiple times after my not so good rating. Even though management was kind enough to respond to my review, I didn't feel like updating them right away. I wanted to make sure whatever rating I gave them was real and honest. I didn't just want to give them a good rating just because. Well, here it goes! The last few times i've been here I tried different things like their burgers, their chicken and their fried plantains. I also had their lomo saltado again. Even though I wasn't exactly thrilled with their burgers and plantains, I have to say their chicken is pretty good. Now to the lomo saltado, maybe the day I had it the first time was just an off day in the kitchen because I actually really enjoyed it. Still greasy but not as insanely grease as last time. Originally was going to go to Yoshinoya for lunch but I smelled the smoke from this place and gave it a shot. I ordered the rotisserie chicken with black beans, white rice and fries with a glass of Jamaica. The chicken was fantastic. It has a beautiful crust of herbs and spices on the skin, and is juicy and flavorful inside. The sides were better than I expected, especially the fries. Most of the clientele were police so avoid this place if you are on the lam. read more

And when I want simplicity, I know caveman is not the place to be with their decadent Mexican inspired meals. I get to the front of the line and am greeted by a tough young gal with the eyes of passion. She takes a hold of my card as I whisper my desire for a number 3. Slowly she slides it into the reader, as I am reading her with every move. She asked if I want to tip... isn't it obvious?! After getting the tip in and grasping her calloused hand to receive my card back, she doesn't seem to want to give up. Un-relentlessly she grabs my discount stamp card and just as i think she is going to stamp it -- she stares me back down and finishes it off with erotic devotion. I sit down, she brings me my number 3 and just when I think its over she hands me the milky lukewarm horchata i ordered, and i guzzle it down. Easily the most satisfying way to finish up the job. The food is very good, came there twice last week for lunch. I had their keto friendly cheeseburger avocado salad. Friends ordered the cheeseburger, lomo saltado, and roasted chicken - all were good. I enjoyed their green hot sauce too. Service and prices are both good, plenty of seating with a casual vibe. Parking is awful, l normally park down the street and walk a little ways. New place around USC. Spacious. It's main thing is burgers and rotisserie chicken. They also have grilled sandwhiches and some mexican influence entrees. It's a very casual place (trays) but the tables and furniture are much nicer than the food suggests. The Good: Very decent prices and quick. the caveman salad, the chicken skin. Unfortunately I can't comment on the burgers because i didn't have one but they looked pretty good and it's difficult to make a bad burger. Good beverage selection. The Bad: Limited parking, that's it. Overall: A great place for a quick lunch. Doesn't seem like it's too healthy but it doesn't seem particularly unhealthy. What can I say. Their burgers are fresh and delicious. The place is clean. Their service is quick and they have friendly staff.

If i had to describe Caveman Kitchen in one word, that word would be "fine." It's nothing more, nothing less. The only thing special about it is just how absolutely unremarkable it manages to be. From the outside the place holds promise. The main signage is modern and reminds you of places like Chipotle or one of those Woodfire Grill Pizza places. It's not until you're walking up to the front door do you see the smaller signage featuring their specials: either scrawled on a sheet of paper or clearly printed by some manager from MS Word. Hmm.. As previous posters have noted, the parking is pretty bad. I've only been around 8pm and the place has been pretty dead -- but even at that hour there were no open spots. I can't image what it'd be like at noon. The dining area is spacious and clean, benefits offset by its duldrum decor and hideous florescent lighting. The kitchen area, which is out in the open, right next to the cashier, just appears mundane in every way and and for that reason alone I was mildly annoyed as I waited for my food. Food. I got the ol' standard 1/4 chicken white with rice and salad, hold the beans. It was plain. Shocker, huh? It wasn't bad at all, it was just sort of there. (A previous Yelper wrote about undercooked chicken, saying since his meat was pink it meant it was raw. Cooked white chicken near the bone often has a pinkish hue, and it's not hard to differentiate between that and raw, translucent meat (although I've sadly experienced people doing just that). My review of caveman is less than stellar, but I have a hard time believing that their chef wasn't able to tell the difference between raw and cooked meat. Meaning no offense, my advice is to take what that guy said with a grain of salt.) I've had worse salads (I once got iceberg lettuce with mayo on top of it at a rotisserie chicken place on Vine which shall remain forever nameless). It was the normal iceberg lettuce decorated with some tomato, carrots and cabbage. I actually found I enjoyed it better than the chicken. Trying to describe the rice would be impossible. The chicken was cooked fine and tasted relatively fresh although forcefully unexciting. As I ate I realized I felt as if I was doing a household chore, and I may have shed a single tear as I recalled the flavors, smells and ambiance at Pollo a la Brasa on 8th and Western. I ate my meal stoically and left. I haven't been back since. There's an infuriating vacuum of decent, healthy restaurants in this area, so I'm positive I'll visit Caveman Kitchen again. But I won't be cherishing the thought. read more

I ordered the caveman club...Probably one of the best pulled chicken sandwiches I have had. Fries were a bit soggy but most delivered fries are. I have had their food a couple more times since my first review and it was not bad. The owners seem to care a lot about customer feedback so A+ for effort. Their mushroom burger is really good and now that I read about their fries, I regret not trying them. Next time I will make sure to do so. Driving back from apartment hunting, I was hungry. I saw caveman out of the corner of my eye and cut across a couple lanes of traffic to get there. Is it worth risking life and limb just for some lomo saltado? Clearly, if you have to ask that question, you've never had their lomo saltado. The beef drippings soak into the onion and fries to produce something sublime, and then you use the rice to wipe the plate clean. And then you take the leftovers to have as a midnight snack. You get a lot of food. I keep forgetting just how big the plates here are. Buuut, it only gets four stars because the tables aren't wiped off as much as they should be. Chicken Club Sandwich made with shredded chicken is the best option here as far as sandwiches go. Their fries here are also a great choice. Do not want a sandwich, give the Lomo or Pollo Saltado a try. The roasted chicken is okay, sometimes dry. But the Chicken Club Sandwich (without ranch) has never let me down. read more

Good food, reasonable price but parking can be a bit challenging to fine since it's a very small, confined space and shared with other establishments in the area (Yoshinoya is one of them). You can order ahead for pickup/delivery (it will definitely save you time). I wish they'd bring Inka Cola back because last time I went there, they didn't have it. read more

This is an interesting little place. It's kind of a fusion between Peruvian, Mexican, Cuban, and American food. They have Peruvian-style rotisserie chicken (with really decent lunch special prices), burgers, sandwiches, etc. I ordered the cave club sandwich which was great! It is juicy pulled chicken with bacon, swiss, and some other stuff. It's great by itself, but I really enjoyed putting the aji verde sauce on it (you'll have to ask for this to be added). My boyfriend got the 1/2 chicken with french fries. It comes with two sides, but he just got 2 sides of that. He seemed to enjoy it. They threw in some tortillas, so you can see the Mexican influence on the place, most likely due to the area. The lomo saltado seems to be very popular; almost everyone had it that was there and you could see the upcoming orders were lomo saltado, too. I would definitely try it in the future. I stumbled upon this gem randomly, cruising south on vermont. Tucked slyly behind a Yoshinoya Beef Bowl (Gross), I can say without question, Caveman Kitchen is slept on. And it shouldn't be. This is by far the best chicken I've had in Los Angeles since Chicken Fuego closed last year. Caveman's Wood Smoked rotisserie chicken is served piping hot, bursting with flavor and tenderness. The french fries are cut fresh and go great with the spicy and flavorful green chili sauce on every table. The rice and black beans topped off an outstanding whole chicken with two sides combo meal. The service here was incredible everyone was so attentive and helpful. They would come by and check up on you to see if you were doing good. (Which is a huge thing for me). The food: I ordered pollo saltado and let me tell you it was delicious. It looked a little weird because I was so used to the one on Mario's but the chicken was so soft and full of flavor.
