I've been meaning to write a review of this place for ages, especially since it's become our go-to date spot since May . We've tried almost everything on the menu and the monthly specials. The only way I can describe the food is by using a scientific approach. We had to figure out if my husband and I were just being too excited about how good it was. Were we exaggerating about the freshness, presentation, and taste of the sushi dishes? We had to find out! Since then, we've tried other sushi restaurants in Glendale, Little Tokyo, and DTLA (based on the number of reviews, of course). And while some of the multi-thousand reviews lived up to the hype, Cavi Sushi is comparable to them in terms of price and taste. Went here on a Sunday evening with a party of 7 where we were seated in the middle of the restaurant. The waitress was helpful in providing the specials for the evening. I enjoyed a hefty miso soup and bowl of rice that kept me full. Towards the end of the evening the waitress was getting flustered asking if we wanted more food while filling out the bill which was odd but overall she was friendly. read more

Wow! Cannot say enough good things about this place. Some of the best sushi in Glendale hands down. We ordered a few appetizers, a few specialty rolls, a few nigiri and some speciality sashimi. See pictures for everything we ordered (we may have gotten a little excited)! Every single one was delicious and plated so beautifully. The fish was super fresh and the combinations of flavors were perfect. It's clear they are passionate about the food they serve. My husband also said it's some of the best sushi he's had. He's been to Japan and said it's the most authentic sushi he's had in the US! This is my first time at Cavi Sushi. I was here with dear friends to celebrate birthday. I started with the Cavi Cucumber salad as an appetizer. It looked great! Next, I ordered the chef's special, the Agedashi tofu app, which was crispy tofu in a broth. I am not a sushi person, so I ordered a cucumber and avocado roll. Everything was delicious! The ambiance was very warm-a beautiful flower display on the ceiling with nice paintings. The restaurant is obviously a local favorite; many people came in and out while we we in the restaurant, and everyone was satisfied with their meals. If you are looking for a welcoming atmosphere and a space to connect with your family and friends, Cavi Sushi is the place. Originally we were on the waitlist for the other sushi place on Brand, but we walked around and found this so we thought might as well give it a try. Well that was an amazing idea bc right off the bat we got seated literally immediately on a Saturday night idk how cuz the food was literally amazing. We started with ginger which was so fresh and I could tell it's fresher than the other places which was amazing. Every single thing I had today I could tell was fresh and made mostly in house which is an amazing quality. Even their spicy mayo which is a big deal for me in sushi it was so good and again not like any other restaurant so I can tell it was made fresh in house. The spicy tuna crispy rice was so good I couldn't even get a picture of it before we started tearing away at it lol but it was amazing literally perfect and the crispy rice was the perfect texture. I like how the avocado slice was thin and was js enough to compliment without overtaking it. Then i got shrimp nigiri which was super fresh again and the bluefin tuna nigiri wowwwww so good for me it's always a hit or miss at places but this was honestly the best tuna I've had. My spicy tuna hand roll was amazing too and I liked how it was tuna piecesisyead of how it's usually kind of mashed up in other places. Cavi Sushi is a gem! Been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. Inside is super chic, love the interior design and setup behind the sushi bar. I also really liked eating outside during the day. During lunch, I ordered the Imperial lunch special and was so impressed with how much food I got for just $40. We had called in and had seats reserved for us by Randy. We ordered the spicy albacore hand roll and spicy tuna hand roll. The spicy albacore hand roll was PHENOMENAL. The spicy tuna hand roll was nothing special. we also ordered spicy garlic edamame which wasn't that great. However, the other rolls we ordered were beyond exceptional! The baked baby lobster roll and the yellowtail Serrano rolls were both sooooo great! We decided to give Cavi a try after recommendation from a friend. We made reservations and glad we did as it was busy on a Friday night. The restaurant is on brand Blvd in Glendale with all the parking difficulties this area has and valet in the front for $22. The vibe was more brightly lit, comfy seats with a bar area toward the back of the restaurant. Starting with service- it was incredible. Our server was so kind, quick, and anticipated our needs before we knew them ourselves. The food came out quickly after we ordered and drink refills did also! We got almost everything on the appetizer portion of the menu. The cucumber salad was very disappointing, just cucumbers in vinegar and felt like something a child could do with no flavor there- not worth the price. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, we ordered 2 because of how good it was. Otherwise, edamame, shishito peppers, and seaweed salad were good, spicy tuna crispy rice were too small didn't feel like it was worth it. The mussels were tasty! As far as the sushi/ sashimi. I really wanted to like this place, but felt the flavors/taste were lacking and it just wasn't doing it for any of us. The lime salmon roll and Serrano yellowtail rolls ended up being the better of them flavor wise. The albacore (roll and sashimi) as well as the yellow tail sashimi fell flat for us. The green sauce for the yellowtail sashimi felt like you put avocado salsa on it as a distraction from the fish itself. Overall we were not impressed with the flavor profile and although good it was not great or special. With all the options in Glendale we likely won't be coming back. read more

Was on brand and decided to check them out The parking is street meter parking and the parking lots in the area. The interior is nice and has enough room for big groups. My favorite thing that I HAVE TO MENTION is how comfortable the chairs are. Im about 5"11 and 220 lbs and those chairs gave me perfect comfort and back support The service was great and super friendly. The waitresses are very knowledgeable and helpful. The chef also comped us on some rolls (thank you!!) Now on to the food. I decided to try some rolls and even a teriyaki chicken just to see how everything was. All the food was delicious. They have a good selection of alcohol as well and for affordable prices. We got mussels, about 4 hand rolls, teriyaki chicken plate and 2 bottles of sake, one 750 one 350. I got to finally try this sushi restaurant. I stopped by around 4 before the dinner crowd. The gal who was our server was extremely friendly. Our food came out quickly. Being originally from Hawaii, I have been fortunate to enjoy very delicious authentic Japanese cuisine from well trained sushi chef's from Japan. With that said, this restaurant is a solid 4 star. The mushroom miso is a must try. Generous with the enoki mushroom. The broth is not watery. Tons of miso flavor and a nice miso cloud formed in the bowl. Nicely seasoned. The shrimp tempura was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was very fresh, tender and melted in your mouth. The batter was also nicely fried, crispy and crunchy with the batter having that light tempura texture. The vegetable tempura however, did not have the same crispy fry. The batter was thick and gummy, not that nice airy tempura crunch. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. Especially the kombucha. It was sweet, savory and excellent kombucha flavor. The crispy rice was a bit over cooked for me, however the ahi tuna was very delicious and fresh. I did appreciate this place uses real crab and not imitation crab. I would have enjoyed lighter sauce or on the side, for my salmon bake. The sauce took over the entire flavor profile and the flavor becomes one note. The salmon was not dry with a kiss of char. Overall this place had decent sushi and Japanese food. The staff were definitely 5 star, very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant quaint and very clean. The ingredients fresh and better quality.
