Needed a fun new place for dinner with a friend and so I found this place (on yelp duh!) And it was everything the pictures promised it to be! First the negative: 1) I enjoy an open concept as much as the next guy, but this is a bit too much. We were there on a Tuesday early evening so not too many people in the place yet it was so loud it almost killed the experience. And 2) the host seated us and then asked if there was anything else he could assist us with. I get the idea, but it was really awkward. Now the good: Everything else! Our server Chad was spectacular, he had fabulous reccomendations and was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu. We got a few different things and split the whole shebang... first the braised short rib that melted in our mouths and the grits it was served on were done perfectly. Then the mac and cheese that was so very creamy and flavorful. Next the cauliflower, done perfectly and perfectly paired with the sweet potato puree. QUICKIE REVIEW Clean, quiet, and roomy. FOOD This is what I tried: -Minnesota cheddar cornbread -braised short rib -Atlantic Salmon   Cornbread was downright delicious and buttery (thinking about it now I want another one).   Waiter was kind enough to cut it up for the table, that was appreciated.   Roast beef practically fell apart upon touching it.  Yes, it was that tender.   Grits was good as well.  Salmon by default is not charred but it was requested and they delivered.   We even ask for a touch of Cajun spice which they had.  It was good. PARKING Yes but it is Mall of America parking, prepare to walk. I've been here several times while staying at the JW Marriott. I like this place. As a native Minnesotan, I had to order their MN wild rice soup and it really hits the spot. I booked a table for a business lunch meeting that I flew in for. This restaurant is connected to the JW (so you can het Marriott points for your meal!) and the other side is connected directly into the MOA. There is free parking at the mall near IKEA and the MOA star that you can use instead of paying for parking at the JW. The food was decent, but I didn't feel there were a ton of vegetarian entree options. There were lots of vegetarian appetizers to choose from though. Happy Hour in the bar on a Saturday 3-6pm!? That's cool! This establishment is part of the JW Marriott Hotel attached to the Mall of America-it is a great place to escape the crazy of the mall-but I can't speak for the noise level in the rest of the restuarant later into the evening. I ordered the jucy Lucy sliders which came with fries. My friend and I shared brussel sprouts with our meal as well. Highly recommend both. The sliders had the perfect ratio of cheese to meat. They were a grea size and filled the small buns just right. I ordered the Cedar Ave cocktail. Nice blend of flavors. Sweet, but not overly sweet. Nice presentation with a sprig of rosemary inside. We came here yesterday and today for our Valentine's dinner/weekend/superbowl/date night! Us coming here 2 nights in a row tells you a lot! Perfect ambience for a very romantic night out, great smooth jazz and perfect amount of light and very little noise level which is important because you can easily have a conversation. All the food that we had is absolutely delicious, we had yesterday and today pretty much all of the things on the menu. You can not go wrong with anything because literally EVERYTHING IS PERFECTION! It was just ok... nothing spectacular. Ambiance was beautiful though. I stayed at this hotel and its absolutely amazing. The food however needs to be improved on. The staff- superb. He was super friendly and knew the dishes very well. The pizza was very meh... had no flavor. Not something I would advise someone to get. I also got the mini lamb empanadas. They were okay as well- they didn't really WOW me either. Last but not least- I also ordered desserts. This also.. didn't wow me as well. Not TERRIBLE. But not great either. Its a beautiful restaurant.. I hope that they will improve in the quality of the food to be on par of the hotel as a whole. But.. Stopped at Cedar + Stone, Urban Table for brunch at the recommendation of a dear friend. Nothing much about the food was impressive but the ambiance and view are somewhat encouraging. Service was lacking for the most part during brunch hours. The Chicken and Waffles come with a half waffle...where is the other half of my waffle going? Did you really only make a half of a waffle? Why don't I deserve the whole waffle? The roasted cauliflower and Minnesota Cheddar Cornbread were tasty and probably the best appetizers on the menu. From looking at the lunch menu, it enough to make me come back for a second try. However, I would have to already be at the Mall of America on the side closest to Ikea and not wanting to drive any further to eat. In other words, this restaurant is not worth making a special trip for. The atmosphere was great. The food was ok. Maggie the host was terrific. I was disappointed in my server Lilla, Her approach was very dull and uninterested in being here to serve. She was asked to bring a Pepsi with lemon. She didn't explain that service was only in cans and bottles. She returned without a lemon and was upset that I reminded her. Unfortunately I got called for an Emergency so I had to run out. I ordered and asked Lilla to hold the order for 10 minutes before releasing it to the kitchen and that I'd return in 10- 15 minutes. My order was not held except under the lamps. She came back by to drop off my check less than 2 minutes after I sat down with only 1 bite taken and see if the was anything else I needed. Incredible experience. Our waiter Bill made a special occasion very special. Started off with a yelp free chef appetizer. They brought us the cornbread which was so delicious. We also were brought a free pretzel by a lucky mistake. The beer cheese and mustard served with the pretzel was probably the best I've had. We ordered the walleye, pork chops, and short rib. Each entree was mouthwatering. The walleye was probably the best out of the 3. Pics tell the story. The seasonal double brown ale was smooth like a Guinness. YUM! What a prime brunch location. Perfect for a brunch and shopping experience. Located over by Zara and the new H&M on the first floor on the North side. There are 2 entrances from the mall and the Marriott hotel. Brunch is offered Sat/Sun 6:30am to 2pm. There are brunch foods for every tastes from eggs Benedict to french toast. Sweet and savory. I was in an egg's benedict mood but the french toast and waffle were tempting. I was also interested in the croque madame as well. The eggs Benedict was delicious with a perfect runny egg. It came with a side of potatoes that were lightly salted to perfection. To top off my morning, I had a latte that hit the brunch spot. I really enjoyed the Cedar + Stone, Urban Table during my stay at the JW Marriott at Minneapolis/Mall of America. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that it was very warm and welcoming. The decor and ambiance were amazing, as its decorated in modern sexy accents. I ordered Salmon, Roasted Califlower, Brussels Sprouts, Grilled Hanger Steak and the Gouda Mac n Cheese. The califlower dish was good, but I may or may not order it again. The Sprouts were absolutely amazing and had great flavor. The grilled hanger steak and the salmon were both delicious. The Gouda Mac n Cheese was a perfect 10!!!! So so good :) All dishes were amazing and cooked to perfection. The Gouda Mac n Cheese is a MUST order!! Most importantly, I was given some of the best service in my life by "Sophia". Sophia had an amazing spirit about her. They had all the basic, nothing really stood out, but that had a good variety of typical brunch items. I tried the Breakfast Pizza and my husband tried the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast was very good and very sweet. Literally a cinnamon roll made into French Toast. The breakfast pizza was more pizza rather than breakfast for me. I was hopping for more egg and bacon, but it was really just a pizza with an egg on it. It was really good, just not what I wanted. Prices were a little high, but I guess most things are at MOA. We started with the polenta frites, which I recommend to share with 2-3 as they taste great and you get a lot. I got the Braised Beef Short Rib, while my friend got the Filet. Okay, that may not sound cool from an old guy but this was truly a nice surprise on how affordable the place was and the food quality was superb! They are only four weeks old but it seems there are no kinks or they've worked it out pretty quickly. Casual dress is okay, straight from mall shopping is okay, or you can dress up and they will place you in a nice section of the place - it's big enough! Their wine selection is great! From regular selections to a superb Opus One! The meat dishes that we tried were all cooked very well and the sides were amazing! - specially for the fillet! I was in town for work and decided to drop by Mall of America for dinner. Since I was on an business trip and hadn't spent anything on lunch, I opted to splurge and eat at Cedar + Stone. This restaurant is part of the JW Marriott but is accessible from the mall. I was seated easily and I presume since I was dining alone, I was offered a selection of newspapers to read during my meal. Nice touch! My server was incredible. He was friendly, sociable, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He gave excellent recommendations and was more than happy to indulge me when I asked where they got their walleye (long story). I opted for the Yelp check in offer, cheese curds (when in the Midwest...), and salmon. The check in offer that evening was a jalapeño corn bread with honey butter. OMG it was amazing! Cheese curds came with a great dipping sauce and the salmon was portioned nicely and cooked well. A bit too pricey for me on a regular day, but if I'm ever back here on an expensed trip, this place is definitely worth skipping lunch and putting all my per diem towards dinner here. read more

Went this morning for brunch.... Ellen our server realized it was my son's 5th birthday, and made him feel so special. My son told me multiple times how special they made him feel on his birthday. It meant so much to see them make him feel so special and how it made his day and birthday that random people cared about him that much. On top of the amazing service, the food was also amazing. Ellen helped us make the great food choices we made. Her staff and supervisor complimented her great service also. Went here for breakfast on a Friday, the food quality is not nearly on par with the price. My husband's French toast was burnt, and my eggs benne was served on a dry piece of what seems like turkey deli meat. They did at least take the burnt French toast off the tab. Service was good, not great, however they were spot on with drink and food recommendations. We split the roasted beet salad as a starter. It had great elements; beets, arugula, and seeds for texture. Its miss was that it wasn't dressed property, hence dry. The salmon dish, on the other hand, was scrumptious. Crispy outer sear while preserving a beautiful interior filet. The crab and corn accompaniment was perfectly suited, too. My dining partner had the butternut risotto, and it was intensely flavorful! I'll be getting that on my next visit. Cocktails were good, although my cocktail, the cedar ave, was way too tiny for $13. If I was rich, I'd have about 10 and call it a day. When in the area, I'll dine here again. read more

I asked the waiter to surprise me with a mixed drink with no alcohol in it. I prefer something sweet with citrus. All he gave me was grapefruit juice. Appetizer: Charcuterie Board - came with no cheese & the waiter didn't offer or had let us know what was on it or what wasn't on it. Beet Salad - mediocre. No special sauce or anything special at all. Main Dish: Pork Chops - The only thing that was decent. It could have been cooked better where it wasn't so chewy, but flavor was better than the other dishes. Walleye - Bland. Basically fish with mash potatoes and puréed tomato sauce, but worse. Fillet - Blandest steak I've ever had. Matter of fact. The entire dish of potatoes and sweet potatoes was all on a tasted one note. The foie gras on a piece of toast tasted the worse. Close to the airport, my parents and I meandered through the Mall of America and the Marriott to which Cedar + Stone is attached before sitting down in the modern dining room. Lots of gray colors accented with wood, steel, and glass, with wide open windows letting in natural light. We ordered a round of drinks along with a variety of smaller plates to share between the three of us. The cheese curds were crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside with just enough nuttiness to the cheese. The brussel sprouts were great, charred and tossed in balsamic with onion and bacon. Who knew mall restaurants could be so fancy. Stopped here to do shopping and eating in one fell swoop while on a business trip. The ambiance is very elegant and the restaurant itself is quite large. Checked in on Yelp to get the free app (the cornbread) and that was tasty.We ordered the app pizza, risotto, pork belly and beet salad-- all of which were delicious. In fact, the pork belly is some of the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, that's where the good things stop. The entire dining experience from greeting to dining was quite slow and accounts for the 4 star rating. We were sat by a seemingly annoyed server, ordered a glass of wine (which took an additional 20 minutes to arrive) and it all went downhill from there. From the ordering of entrees to the actual receipt of food was an entire hour's worth of time on a very slow Tuesday night. Additionally, three tables close by that were sat anywhere between 10 to 20 minutes after us had already ordered and received their food by the time we had been there for 45 minutes. Obviously, this is frustrating given that it was slow and its usually first come first serve at most restaurants. Luckily, the manager literally named Zachary Pizza was made aware and comped much of our meal. He was super friendly and apologetic and we were honest about how much we loved the food. I'm thankful this happened because the food itself and the atmosphere are wonderful but the lengthy wait time for sure would have brought the rating down to a two. read more
