The menu and bartender is awesome with genuine conversation. I absolutely suggest this place and FOR SURE will be back when I'm in town.

Awesome vestibule with so many windows. Even on a rainy day it just feels good. The menu and bartender is awesome with genuine conversation. I absolutely suggest this place and FOR SURE will be back. The food is locally sourced when possible and they have local beers

Great food. Even for a hotel restaurant, has good prices and helpful staff. Even gave me a burger for lunch although they were not open.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a rundown of the menu before we ordered. I decided to start with the Cheese Plate, which included 3 different cheeses, buttered baguette slices, jam, mustard, and pickles. I enjoy cheese plates, and this one was great, but I can understand it may not be for everyone. My wife ordered the Red Fish, which had a more Southeast Asian-inspired twist to it. It came over rice and pickled onions and beets, and the flavors were a blend of lemongrass and coconut. The fish was cooked well - nice and tender, not too dry - and the flavors went well together. I ordered the New York Strip, which was delicious - the meat was well cooked, had great flavor, and was a generous portion that was very filling. The only gripe I had was that the char on the eggplant overwhelmed the flavor, so most of what I ate tasted like burnt eggplant. The place is clean and fairly laid back for a more upscale restaurant. If you're looking for a nicer restaurant in Chapel Hill where you might spend a little more, but you'll get great service with interesting food options / combinations, then look no further than Hawthorne & Wood.

Service was great, and I was impressed that the staff remembered a food allergy in our party. We started with the cheese board--quality ingredients, though I prefer sliced cheeses and flatbread for easier sharing. The jam was a standout! My short rib entree was savory, with tender (but not fall-off-the-bone) meat, paired nicely with roasted eggplant, green chickpeas, and a touch of sweetness from the pomegranate jus. The eggplant was more charred than I prefer, but the flavors worked well overall. Cocktails were well-made, portions satisfying, and while entrées are on the pricier side, you leave full and happy.

We made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner and he made sure we were well taken care of all night. We started the night with their James Bears award winning cocktails, and every drink we ordered was a hit! Spiced strawberry mule, Sunset Sipper, and the table favorite: Earl Please. The latter two drinks were mocktails and they were still standouts! As for the food, the Alley burger was perfectly cooked: juicy patty paired with truffle cheese and simple toppings that really highlighted the burger itself. And shoestring fries are always a good choice with a delicious burger. Ricotta gnocchi was also very good. As our server Anthony said, let's get this burger nominated!

If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting. Overall enjoyable, and I'd come back, especially to try more of the menu and the drinks.

Since it was a Monday night I was not expecting the restaurant to be busy and it wasn't. Plenty of open parking, no wait at all, and quick to be served. I ordered the smoked brisket which came on top of burnt end hash, collard greens, and topped with a bbq sauce/gravy. The brisket was so tender and a really thick cut. I typically like leaner cuts of meat and the meat was perfect, not too much fat. The sauce also complimented really nicely. The burnt end hash was also really good. The potatoes were tender and soaked up some of the juices from the greens and sauce. The greens were cooked perfectly. Not too soft and still had some crunch to them. They had a lot of flavor and had a touch of sweetness. I would get a bowl of them to eat on its own for sure. My coworker got the pork chop with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans which she said was really good. Her plate was vibrant in color from the vegetables and the pork chop looked well prepared. For dessert we shared the banana bread pudding with strawberry ice cream. The bread budding came out warm which was perfect to go with the ice cream which tasted homemade. I'm a sucker for anything strawberry though. The bread pudding had slices of banana throughout and held together well when eaten with the ice cream. Service throughout the evening was good. We were checked on and brought refills without having to flag down the waiter. Overall it was a great experience. I know I'll be back to RDU at some point so I'll be sure to come back.

Then its the whole bit about sending it back and the awesome movie "Waiting", so you get extra sauce, lol. Or conversely, you order lower than you wanted to and it walks onto your plate. This was a perfect medium rare, no extra sauce needed. Felt like I wanted the FF instead of chips, so I got them with a side of ranch and hot buffalo (my dealio). The fries were hot and Crispy, and everything on my end was good. The only negative was that they were out of my favorite draft, "Maine Lunch", but it is very popular, and used to be only found in Maine or Massachusetts, so that's a pass. My mate got the crab cakes which looked good, and I had a little bite, and pretty tasty for being out of the Chesapeake area. The place is always clean and comfortable, not to light, not too dark. Sat at the bar which has plenty of bar tables as well, so it works if you dart in for lunch, which gets pretty busy for a party of over 2. The staff and management always greet you and seem pretty happy. They check back often, which is a requisite for me. Nice lunch.

While waiting to check-in at the hotel next door and I noticed these restaurants. There were a few of them, very convenient located. One was a vegan, one was Indian, and one was the Terrence Kitchen. So I went into the Indian place and they had a buffet. I thought about getting it but I wasn't quite sure what was all in there. It didn't help that the gentleman didn't English so he couldn't really explain to me what was on there. He started saying the name that was on the labels , which I saw but I still didn't know what it was. So I decided to come to the one next door, the Terrence Kitchen, low and behold They're owned by the same people. One is the son and one is the father. The son , great personality. From the time I came in the door, just a regular American menu , so I had this burger. Really good with chorizo on it and it was good with the fries and salad. Just a pleasant attitude all around. So I was telling him about my experience next door and he explained that they didn't know English but he offered, this is top of the line, he actually offered to go over there and explain to me what each items was. I told him no, I think I'll just eat right here today. I told him I had a couple days, maybe I'll get that in before I leave but I just want to say great place, great personality, all around a pleasant young man. They've been open for three months. I wish him the best success. It's heartwarming to see that some people can be so kind and accommodating as the owner at Terrence Kitchen was . The kind of genuine hospitality he shown will definitely stick with me as the highlight of my trip to Durham NC .

Still they didn't put it on the half of the bar were 4 groups were waiting. 30mins into the show we didn't see our server, no one told us it was only showing in the pool area. Us and another table had to get up to see it was on the other side of the bar. Mind you, there was no sound for a WATCH PARTY! So people were reading subtitles. Finally our server came and apologized about it not being on our side. We asked for the check and she charged us for those drinks WE NEVER GOT! That were sitting at the bar for 30mins. (That if you remember we couldn't order?!?) Then she hands us the drinks when we asked, now melted and still we had to pay for them even though we were literally leaving.

We stopped by on a Sunday morning and the place was buzzing--I'm guessing many diners were coming from church. Thankfully we made a reservation because every table seemed to fill up quickly. To kick things off, we each ordered a refreshing Lone Rider wheat beer along with two appetizers. The Shoestring Okra Fries were a fun twist on a Southern classic--crispy, lightly seasoned with chili citrus seasoning, and even better dipped in the tangy lime mayo. We also shared the Artichoke Dip, which arrived bubbling hot, creamy, and perfect for spreading on the toasted bread. For brunch, we went with two very different dishes, and both were excellent. The Asparagus & Mushroom Omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor from the goat cheese and pickled onions, while the buttery biscuit with jam on the side was a nice Southern touch. The Fried Green Tomato & Bacon Benedict was the standout of the meal. Crispy fried green tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs, smoky bacon, and rich hollandaise came together beautifully without feeling overly heavy. We couldn't leave without one more treat. The Strawberry Kiwi Margarita was bright, fruity, and balanced with just enough tequila and a zesty spiced citrus rim to keep it refreshing. To finish, we shared an Affogato, the perfect ending with creamy ice cream and a shot of hot espresso. If you're planning a Sunday brunch in Cary, make a reservation--you'll be glad you did. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
