For Christmas Eve, my husband and I wanted to experience a bit of what Napa had to offer and Celedon appealed to us because it appeared to have a beautiful interior and the menu sounded great. When you arrive at Celedon you first walk through a beautiful walkway with arched pergolas lined with lights and filled with greenery. If you walk past the entrance there is also a water feature that is worth admiring before or after you dine. The interior of Celedon, at least the main dining area just as you enter reminds me of walking into a green house. Concrete floors and greenery along the wall with exposed brick, more greenery visible from the walkway through large windows that also extend to the ceiling which I imagine let in a great deal of natural light during the daytime. There is also a large brick fireplace in the center of first dining area. Perfect to sit by during cold wintery nights. Where we dined was in the second dining area where you can also find their bar. This dining area has a slightly different feel than the main dining area. There are wooden floors, white brick walls near the bar and beautiful drop pendant lights. Much smaller than the main dining area but quaint and warm. The service was prompt and we were able to order our entrees quite quickly. After which we were brought fresh bread and then our order of French fries. The fries were good but as I did wish that fresh bread was served warm rather than cold. For my entree I ordered the pork chop with mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, and a pomegranate molasses. The pork chop was perfectly cooked to my liking and the pomegranate molasses really complemented the pork well. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Celedon during this busy evening. My first night in Napa for a girl's trip and we had this place for dinner! The cocktails are made so well and the service is amazing. This place is very pretty with the lights in their garden arch entry at night. I got the Caesar salad and Thai coconut mussels for dinner and loved both! One of my other friends ordered only appetizers like me too except she ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and heirloom tomato salad. They have THE best bread dip you'll ever try. Wow. Simply incredible. If you love balsamic vinegar, you're gonna enjoy this bread dip so much! I wish they sold that bread dip cause I would quickly buy some. I read that Celadon was the "best spot for a romantic meal." And maybe that could be true, if we were talking about the main dining room, or the outside (uncovered) patio, during the day. But the covered patio at night? No way. It's far too noisy to be romantic. The acoustics are terrible. You can barely hear your companion speaking to you. I requested a table right next to the fireplace. And sitting right next to the fireplace was basically the best part of our meal here. Pork belly. Unfortunately, it just didn't pop or wake up my taste buds the way that it should. The soba noodles seemed to have more flavor. 3 stars. Crab cake. Moist & uber fresh, but again, not particularly flavorful. 3 stars. Half roasted chicken w gnocchi. Delicious! The chicken was properly cooked; moist, juicy, & tender, w crispy flavorful skin. The gnocchi was very good, w the consistency on point. 4 stars. All in all, what I'd hoped would be more intimate in feeling turned out being more warehouse-y in feeling. This is my go to dinner spot in Napa. The ambiance is cozy yet slightly fancy. Whenever I come to Napa I ensure to make a reservation at Celadon. If the weather is on the warmer side, I highly recommend sitting outside. Very rustic but nice. I love sitting near the fire place. The inside it also quite cozy but can be a tad cramped for a party of two or less. Food is absolutely fantastic! I had the Caesar salad and crab cakes to start. AMAZING crab cakes with just the right amount of crunch. For dinner I had the half chicken with mushrooms and gnocchi. The sauce with the chicken is amazing and the gnocchi is the perfect side to pair it with. The wine list is also quite lovely, we ordered the sparkling from Domaine Carneros. I also recommend a nice stroll after dinner, adorable downtown near the water. They light up the walkway when it gets darker which I love. Such a cute downtown! read more

What a fantastic place to have dinner! After researching which restaurants to dine at in Napa, I came across Celadon and I'm glad I decided to give it a try! I would definitely suggest making a reservation since this place gets pretty crowded during dinner time. Celadon has a terrific cozy ambiance with dim lighting (I would recommend sitting on the patio outside...there are heat lamps everywhere). For starters, we opted for the salmon clam chowder with a puff pastry. While the puff pastry was a little on the harder end of things, it softens up as you soak it in the chowder. I loved the delicate creaminess of the soup and there was plenty of salmon bits in the soup. For the entrees, we got the wild king salmon and the braised short ribs. While both dishes were delicious, I was a bigger fan of short ribs. I loved the red wine jus that is poured over the dish. Exceptional! The short ribs were braised perfectly and broke off easily. Not to mention, it was really tender. The mashed potatoes were alright, nothing special. The salmon was also great. The skin was crispy and flaky. I wasn't a fan of the marble potatoes but that's just me. However, the tarragon beurre blanc sauce over the salmon was light and tasteful. Terry the cute waitress was lovely, but the real reason for the 2 stars is the incredibly rude and insulting manager with big man syndrome who wouldn't stop looking and mine and my girlfriend's cleavage and when we asked to stop he said that's why we dress like that so we should take it as a compliment! 4.0 STARS! Ambience is nice and the staff stay busy here. It was hard to know where to park because their weren't any CELADON parking signs that I could see. The praun appetizer was wonderful! They should do that same chili sauce to their calimari. We ordered the pork belly pasta along with the double pork chop with palenta. The pasta was very fresh, pork belly was light and lean but lacked some flavor. The pork chop was plenty of food and edible all the way to the bone. The pork again lacked flavor. Let's start with the positives. The place is beautiful, with a vibrant atmosphere. The wait staff was friendly. Now onto the negatives. I've been here three times, the last was for my company party. The food was expensive for the quality. In fact, my colleague ordered a medium cooked steak and it came out incredibly bloody....I mean rare! When he politely asked for them to bring it up a temp, it came back completely black like a piece of coal. Either the cooks don't know how to cook a steak, or that coal-like steak was them displaying their attitude towards the customer asking for what they actually ordered. Either way, I will not be back to this restaurant. We spent over $1,200 for nine people. There are so many other quality restaurants in downtown Napa to visit instead. read more

We had a lovely experience at Celadon. Unfortunately the patio we were looking forward to was closed for a private event, but the inside had a GREAT atmosphere: not too loud, perfectly lit, and very cool aesthetically in general. The food was also declicious. My mother, brother, and I split three of the entree options, so I tried the roasted Chicken, the pork chop, and the risotto. The chicken was cooked so well and was so flavorful. The porkchop was good, but honestly the farro was the star of that dish. Lastly, the risotto was lovely. It was very flavorful and soft. The waitress was incredibly helpful with the menu and my dietary restriction. 4 stars for ambience. 2 stars for food, which is primarily the reason we went there (ie, not for the bar or socializing.) We wanted a delicious meal. I started with the calamari which was good, though it could have used more of the sauce on it. The dinner itself was the beef duo. The filet mignon was too salty and dry and the short rib was mediocre. Then there was the creme brûlée. I'm not even sure how one makes a bad creme brûlée but I actually nearly vomited. They had added some sort of unnatural flavor too it that came across like bubble gum. I don't think in the nine months I've been dating my boyfriend he has ever seen me send something back... and we eat out all of the time. I had vanilla ice cream instead. For our first dinner during our Napa Valley weekend we chose Celadon. Thanks babe for the good call. Our starters began with the crispy braised pork belly lettuce cups and the flash fried calamari. The lettuce cups were crisp, flavorful and juicy. The chipotle chili and honey glaze over the calamari gave it a unique sweet taste. Pretty yummy. For our entree, Jen and I shared the grilled pork t-bone with brussell sprouts. The grilled pork had that nice mesquite flavor and texture. For our desserts, we went with the strawberry crumble and crème Brule. While both were delicious the strawberry crumble had me wanting more. A winner! read more

VIBE INCLUDING LOCATION & SEATING OPTIONS Down a pathway in the Napa Mill complex, you'll see a lovingly tended garden as you approach. Seating was available on the day of our January visit on an enclosed outdoor patio with a fireplace lit in the center. (I imagine in other months the patio may be open air?) We were offered our choice of table out or inside. We chose inside this time. All table seating is standard height; a big plus. (I am at the life stage where I don't get the allure of perching on stools to dine.) Outside tables had ample elbow room between them. With maybe 40ish seats inside, tables there were closer together but not so close as to feel as if in a sardine can. White tablecloths topped with brown butcher paper and white napkins. Whimsical French poster art of maybe 1930's era on the walls. Hardwood floors. Nice lighting. Everything sparkled. Great music set at just the right level to support conversation and not compete with it. Grown up and fun at the same time. Ahhh...some! HOSPITALITY & "GOD IS IN THE DETAIL" To understand why details seem so perfect it helps to know something about Executive Chef and owner Greg Cole who has an impressive background in Napa food and wine. CIA trained at Hyde Park, he went on to work in and head up top notch restaurant kitchens. He also worked for Robert Sinskey Winery, one of the class acts of Napa Valley, with the winemaking team. Quality begets quality and leads to the attention to detail at Celadon that comes with pride of ownership and professional expertise. It shows everywhere here. Greg is also a really nice guy as we found when he stopped by tables to talk with his guests. SERVICE Sometimes underestimated is the impact a warm greeting from host or hostess can have or a guest. Perfect "we're so glad you came in today" greeting from the hostess here. We felt welcome from the "get go". Kudos to Anne B who was our server. Just right nexus in style of professional and friendly, we felt well cared for but not hovered over. She knew the menu, could make recommendations and answer every question we had about food and beverages. She also had perfect timing to deliver courses as we requested allowing us to linger just as long as we wanted and not longer. Her support staff was there to fill water classes, deliver bread and clear plates. One of the two best service experiences of our Napa week. MENU & FOOD Pan Asian and Latin influences on menu for what I think the restaurant calls "Global". Assuming Chef de Cuisine Marcos Uribe and Executive Chef Greg Cole developed it, the menu was intriguing from top to bottom. Lunch and dinner menus are both divided into "Small Plates", "Green Plates" and "Big Plates" format with options that would work deliciously for omnivores, vegetarians, vegans and those following gluten free diets. When we arrived, we were greeted by a hostess and asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside. It was a tough decision. The outside patio was very quaint and rustic but we decided to sit inside because it was less crowded. I ordered the Spa Martini, which was absolutely divine. This is hands down the best restaurant in Napa. I could go on and on about the food, but it's a given that anything you have here will be top notch. I have only ever had one plate here I did not love and I think it was just a personal preference for fig. Everything is a local, seasonal, ever evolving masterpiece. What really makes this place for me is the service. Whether I am in a dress for a night out or in flip flops just walking downtown, the staff here always treats me like royalty. I usually opt to sit outside because it's gorgeous. I'd love to rave about all the great dishes and great experiences I have had here but the bottom line is that this place deserves 5 stars. The space is beautiful, if jeans and a cute top was a restaurant. Not pictured but we had the calamari and it was amazing, seasoned really well with a unique spicy flavor. For the main course, we got the lamb which fell off the bone and was a lot of food, not super over the top. However the short ribs were the best part, we substituted the fries for the mashed potatoes and my sister called it "the best thing she's ever eaten". It was flavorful without being overly saucey. Where to begin? The walk up to the entrance was like a dream with the hydrangeas covering the walk. Annna, the hostess, was so helpful, seating us near the fireplace. I had 7 meals on my vacation up in the Napa Valley, and start to finish, Celadon was the best meal of the week! Celadon is a nice looking restaurant with seafoam, peach, cream, brick, & big prints filling the space. It was a relaxing environment. One thing I saw that was interesting; each server mixed his/her own drinks. Celadon didn't have a bartender during lunch. The bus boy refilled my soda by pouring it from a shaker filled with soda AND ice. That was a nice touch. I ordered one of the specials for the day-Maryland blue soft shell crab panko crusted & fried w/tatsoy salad (looks like baby spinach & has a little bitterness) with yellow beets, fried won ton strips, & yuzu vinaigrette. This was AWESOME! Loved, loved, loved it! One server told me they got the idea from The Fatty Crab in NY. Way to give credit when credit's due. That salad was hearty enough to fill up most dainty eaters, but I (not so dainty eater that I am) also ordered their soy-braised crispy pork belly w/watermelon, daikon, fresh herbs, & kecap manis (sweet soy). It was an awesome combination of decadent, rich pork belly and fresh, juicy watermelon. Perfect execution on the pork belly. It had a light char to make it crispy, but the inside was still tender and the fat was juicy. That dish blew me away! What a surprising combination! We visited Celadon for the first time to celebrate my son's birthday and the service was amazing- from the hostess to the waiting staff- everyone was super attentive. The food was great as well. Their complimentary bread with dipping oil was heavenly. We had fried calamari for the first course and I had a salmon dish as the main course. Both dishes were delicious and well prepared. My husband enjoyed his lamb shank dish. The place was costly but the food was worth it. I was a bit disappointed with the decor and the cleanliness level - both were lacking. When we pay $400 for a meal- we expect the table and chairs not to feel sticky and the extra furniture not to be stored in the plain view. We visit Napa a lot, but I am not sure this particular establishment met our expectations. read more

Review #230 - 2018 While walking around the riverfront, we all grew hungry since most of us hadn't eaten lunch yet. We showed up around 3:30 PM & were greeted by our waiter, Hernan. The place was empty so we had the whole place to ourselves. Unfortunately, we didn't get the best seat in the restaurant since it was already reserved by a big party. The eight of us sat down, got our menus and iced waters and I went ahead and ordered for everyone. We started off with three appetizers. The dungeness crab cakes were pretty good. The flavor wasn't as good as I've had at other places; but it was nice and crunchy on the outside, while moist on the inside. It had plenty of crab in each bite. The pan-roasted mussels were good. The broth was very buttery, but not salty. We actually asked for more bread just so we could dunk them in the broth. Our favorite was the flash fried calamaris. Soft and not overly battered so you can still taste the calamari. The dip went well with it. I was actually surprised at how well the pickled ginger complemented the calamari. Sadly, our experience changed after our main entrees arrived. The double cut pork chop was pretty highly recommended by Hernan so I had high hopes that it would taste as good as he'd described. Sadly, it was really dry and salty. The rice was also undercooked. The Moroccan-braised lamb shank was nice and moist, but the flavor was underwhelming. We actually didn't finish this dish and took it home. However, no one ended up eating it so it just went to waste. The sesame crusted ahi tuna was ok. The fish was well prepared, but the soba noodles just didn't seem like the right flavor. Good thing the kids were super hungry so they ate all of the noodles. Luckily, the salmon was very tasty so everyone attacked it before I got to get one tiny bit to see why it was disappearing so quickly. It was nice and crunchy on the outside and super moist on the inside. Definitely a winner! If I had to reorder our meal, I would've doubled up on the appetizers and order three of the salmon and call it a day. Their saving grace was that Hernan was so attentive. You ever have one of those nights where everything goes right with your dinner service and you leave feeling satisfied to the point where if you weren't so completely full, you would eat more? I came here with my wife to celebrate our three-year wedding anniversary and everything, and I mean everything, about this place went well. We made reservations and when we arrived, our table was reserved for us. We did not like the table they put us at, so we asked for a different one and they were graciously accommodating toward that request. We ordered steamed mussels, calamari, and we split a dinner plate of filet mignon, beef short rib, asparagus, and potatoes. The mussels were honestly the best we ever had. They were so delicious and buttery that they literally melted in your mouth. I normally do not really like mussels, but these were so damn delicious that I couldn't get enough of them. Same with the calamari and pickled ginger. Normally pickled ginger turns me off, but this was so fragrant and delicious I ate all of it. The main course was equally delicious. The filet mignon was so tender and juicy that it melted in my mouth like the mussels before it. It was cooked perfectly with the appropriate amount of charring on the outside, just like you would expect. The beef short rib was tender and meaty - loved it. Even the asparagus was cooked to perfection, as were the potatoes. The restaurant was also gracious enough to provide us with some complimentary sparkling wine with our dinner, on the house. By the time dessert was offered, we were just too full and could not eat anymore food. This restaurant is beautifully decorated on the inside and outside, so you can't go wrong with either seating arrangement. We will definitely return here for another special occasion in the future. Just had dinner at Celadon during the Labor Day weekend and had a great experience. The tables were spaced out and service was exceptional. We had a party of 5 and Kate was awesome. Her attention to detail and service was perfect. I had the roasted chicken and and it was so tender and juicy. The flavors were also really good. Everyone at the table had something different and we had no disappointments. As appetizers we had the crab cakes and Calamari. Again did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised by dinner with the courses uniformity above average. The coconut prawns were the moistness ever and the best I have ever experienced. The pork belly cups also above par and crispy to boot. The pappardelle has the best pork ever with it done to perfection. So moist and tasty. The lemon meringue pie had a superior meringue. Has to be the best overall meal I had in a long time. I highly recommend this place. 4 1/2 stars. read more

Beautiful location and interior. Adrianna was so sweet and fun with our large party. The food was fantastic! The mussels were delicious and I'm not usually a big seafood person. We had a large portion of veal osso bucco and the gnocchi was perfect balance of crispy and soft. You could tell it was fresh made that day. Long story short.. this is now one of my top 5 favorite spots. Here's why. We came on a birthday weekend staycation to Napa with our toddler in tow because of Covid. I'd been to Celadon a few years back and the food was fantastic but the service this time made it stand out even more. They have one of the best outdoor patios ever imo. It's cozy and gorgeous and still covid friendly. They also did temp checks and all the staff had masks and gloves on. We called to reserve a table and by the time they got there they had the high chair ready to go. The staff was exceedingly gracious and down to earth. The had a kids cup and crayons ready to go as well.. which was a welcome surprise after feeling out of place at other napa restaurants on our trip. The meal and drinks we had were over the top good. My husband got the 'staycation' cocktail which was delicious and I had some of their reserve Cab. Everything went great with our meal. We had the pork belly lettuce cup appetizer, calamari (amazing) and the half chicken with gnocchi entree. It was so decadent, and the cream sauce had us all in heaven. We will be back. We were at Celadon for the group dinner for 50 plus. Thank you so much for all the work! Food service timing was really good. Yes! took used plates quite effectively. No complaint!! Appetizers were cheese plates, calamari and pork belly on butter lettuce. We had an individual salad or soup. And entree from three different kind. I did fish/ halibut. It was dry so I need to ask them to take it back. And they brought a nice moisture oneand dessert It's hard to serve for 50 plus!! read more
