I needed my pants to be hemmed up. I've drove by this place multiple times so I finally walked in. Dropped off my pants and a few days later I was able to pick it up and I'm satisfied with the results. I was so satisfied, I came back a second time to try out their dry cleaning service. I needed to have my winter coat cleaned up. Dropped it off and came back a few days later and my winter coat looks nice and clean. I have been going to celebrity cleaners for a few years up until this point but I will never return. I had a pair of Thom Browne trousers ($1K) that I brought in after a small oil spill on the front leg. I picked up a few weeks later and when I pulled them out to put them on, I noticed a severe discoloration of the entire trouser and even more around the region of the stain, it looked like they aggressively scrubbed the area, ruining the pant as the fabrics were all uprooted. I brought it back in as they said they could try and fix it and came back a week later to pick it up. They then tried to charge me again to clean up their mess and took no responsibility and just said "you asked us to try and clean it and we did" I always dealt with their attitude since it's around the corner from my place but the main girl sucks and so does the tailor. First time using Celebrity Cleaners, specifically the tailoring services. The repair itself appears to have been done sufficiently well, but the off-putting experience was with their seemingly questionable charges. The additional 3% charged when you use a credit card already feels like an unnecessary addition to their already expensive price menu, but when they change the prices without telling you or asking you for agreement, and then surprise you with a 25% increase to the previously agreed charge, then it becomes unpleasant gouging. Again the repair was done , a price was agreed upon when the item was dropped off, but then upon collection of the item you're asked for 25% more for the repair and when you bring it up, they tell you that the repair was a bit more time-consuming, and therefore they increased their charge, all- the-while giving you a very unpleasant experience. read more

I started to come here because one time I came and needed something rushed and they were able to make it happen. Aside from that I have had 3 issues. 1) Their wait time is always a week minimum, even for a simple dry cleaning. 2) I left $20 in my jeans pocket. I called within 15 minutes of dropping off jeans and the $20 had mysteriously disappeared. Granted it's my fault for leaving it but I had worn those jeans that night, my friend gave me $20 for dinner and I have no doubt in my mind that the $20 was in the jeans pocket. 3) I dropped a pair of jeans off to get hemmed. Part of the jeans style is a company tag that is sowed into the jeans that is meant to remain on the jeans. The jeans are rather expensive. When I picked them up the tag had been removed. I asked If they had removed it and they pretty much told me it must have fallen off. I have owned other pairs from that company for years and that never happens, I had not even worn these jeans once. I had a bad experience here with tailoring and have not used them for dry cleaning services. TL;DR Bad customer service and way too experience! Full story below... I brought in a long, formal dress to get hemmed and it was VERY expensive ($120!), which I did not realize until I picked it up. That was almost half the price of the dress, so already I was not happy, but at that point what was I going to do? I paid and went on my way. I then brought the dress with me to a wedding and immediately realized it was way too long as I kept tripping on it all night. So, understandably, I was very annoyed. I had relied on the tailor's expertise and the dress was not functional. but I figured I'll just call them when I'm back and come back in to get it shortened for next time and I'm sure they will provide good service and do this correction for me for free, since I already paid $120 (the cost of a new dress pretty much!) What really disappointed me is that just now, when I went back to to get it hemmed further, they tried to charge me another $50! That means overall on tailoring the hem of a dress they were charging me $170! Just for the hem! And this was done incorrectly the first time. The reasoning for charging again was that I "signed off on it the first time". But I was going off of their expert opinion and after walking around in it, it was way too long! I have to be honest: I had previously written a not-so glamorous review of this place, posted it, then deleted it a few moments later. I wrote it in a moment of upset, but realized that a poor review would do nothing without trying to amend the situation first. I'm so happy I went back, because I was whole-heartedly taken care of upon return. I'd dropped a winter coat off a few days ago to be cleaned. The coat had several buttons around the collar to hold a removable hood in place. Upon picking up the coat, I got home to discover 2 of the buttons were missing, and that the hood had been safety pinned on. I was enraged, upset that the buttons were missing on an item that -- although not worn that often in LA -- is a necessity elsewhere. I wrote a bad review in a flurry, posted it, then stopped. A bad review wouldn't fix the coat. Why not just try to call and see what happened and go from there? I called back, spoke to the woman who rang me up, and explained what happened. She told me to please come back so she could look at the coat. When I came back and we looked together, we concluded that although neither of us had any idea what happened to the original buttons, she'd be happy to sew some on for me. So she picked out two clear buttons and, with me standing there waiting, quickly sewed them back on. The hood is back to functioning as it was. I guess the moral of this story is that sometimes a business might mess something up, but a bad review won't fix your damaged item. If you're considering writing a negative review instead of just dealing with the problem directly, perhaps consider this (long) review before you do so. read more

We've been coming here awhile and I used to trust them with my clothes. They had good reviews and even did cleaning for wedding dresses. I brought my wedding dress in to get cleaned and they RUINED IT! The color of the dress changed to a pink hue and the fabric was damaged. They tried to make me pay for it but my husband refused to and even after they tried to clean it a second time to get the pink color out. They blamed me for the change saying that I didn't give them directions on cleaning. They didn't ask me for that when I dropped it off. They did not ask me for ANY DETAILS! They took the dress and said it would be easy to clean. It's a pretty simple dress so when I came back it was damaged! The lack of costumer service or empathy on this was terrible. My dress was $3500 and it was a once and a lifetime dress and they ruined it and did not even apologize. I don't know if my dress can get fixed but I brought it back to the store I got it from and they recommended another spot they trust and I took it there and they told me that the celebrity cleaners DO NOT CLEAN THEIR TANKS! The reason why the dress changed color was because they have pink and red residue in there tanks that they don't clean out. Beware! I've been coming to this place for four years and have never had a problem, until recently. I brought in a pair of jeans to get a button replaced. The work was done. A couple of weeks later, the same button pops out. I go back and explain what happened. Not a big deal, right? Please do it again, and reinforce it. To my shock, the seamstress has a total freak-out and basically accuses me of lying. I said that maybe SHE didn't sew the button but SOMEONE there did. She refused to believe me. I'm like, "are you saying I'm lying?" IS SHE SERIOUS? Over a button? Wow. After four years and I get treated like I'm some sort of lying, scheming, crook? Wow. So quick to harshly judge a long term customer over basically nothing. By the way, I had the receipt back home (which I went back to get) to back myself up. Then they agreed it was a mistake. Update: When my husband stopped by to pick up the dress for me, it was ready as promised and they did a nice job with the hemming. The owner of the business, however, immediately and aggressively confronted him about my Yelp review (!) and told him repeatedly to "have me" change it. My husband insisted that he wasn't going to "have me" do anything and attempted to communicate with the man who simply talked/yelled over him the entire time while insisting to his employees that he (my husband) "wouldn't listen" and that there had been a "misunderstanding." There was never any misunderstanding, just rudeness on their part. Websites like Yelp exist so that customers can provide honest feedback about their experience with a business. I (and ultimately my husband too) had an honestly unpleasant experience at Celebrity Cleaners and my review reflects this. The owner's suggestion that my husband should simply come home and instruct me to change or remove my original review is insulting at best. STAY AWAY. Unscrupulous business practices. Was quoted 30-40$ for an alterations job (already pricey, but was willing to pay it because it was a local mom and pop business.) Upon pick up, was told it would be 90$. NINETY DOLLARS. That is triple the quoted price! They had the contact number and never called to confirm the increase in charge and went ahead with the services anyway. "Oh, but we give you 10$ discount." That's an insult. The unhelpful women at the counter deferred to the owner's decision. When it was clear they had no defense for him, they tried to cover for him by saying he meant 30-40$ a (curtain) panel. The math doesn't add up, ladies. That'd equate a charge of 120-160$, not 90$. Nice try, but you're just adding more lies to the pile. Notice the very low (and recent) reviews dotting this business - don't get scammed like we did. The risk is too high. Take your business elsewhere. I was a regular over 4 years until today. I'm never coming back because I don't want any of my expensive clothes to be ruined again. I left a $200 pair of black jeans and when I went I went to pick it up 2 weeks ago it was totally discolored. Assumed they just throw it in the washer instead of dry cleaning as I requested. Really really bad. Brought it back and they were supposed to call me back and never did. So today I went in to get it on my own. I'm writing this over 2 years after the incident b/c it still boils my blood. I took a very expensive quilt my husband had recently bought me for our 1st anniversary here to be cleaned. (It was the softest thing I'd ever felt. I imagined this quilt being with us our whole lives, and it being our future children's favorite blanket...cheesy i know). So when I get it back, the cotton was stiff, rough and basically stuck together. I was in tears. The instruction tag said to wash cold and tumble dry low....when i looked at the tag after receiving it, the tag was FRIED. it was obviously dried in extremely high heat. We spoke with the owner and he basically said it wasn't his fault and tried to turn it around to us with things like "how could he know it wasn't already like this to begin with" etc. I asked him to honor the insurance that is stated on the back of the receipt and he refused. He started yelling at us in his store. He finally said the only thing he could do was wash it again and soften it up. he did and it was still not any where close to soft. He called to check out the results, we told him it was still so far away from the way we brought it in, he began yelling and cursing at us on the phone. The blanket basically sits in a closet now b/c it breaks my heart to even touch it. Any time I handle it, I think of that awful cleaners, the owner that yelled at us, and how wonderful the quilt used to be. Bottom line, I brought something very nice to be cared for, they ruined it, and refused to be held responsible. read more

I have used Celebrity Cleaners's dry cleaning services on several occasions for my and my partner's businesswear, and I have had only positive regarding their quality of work and their professionalism. The gentleman whom I tend to see in the mornings to accept my drop-offs has always been polite and professional. They have taken the time to make sure I was aware of any pre-existing damage or stains, and to ask for my permission to attempt to fix said issues. I have also had them hem of a pair of pants to my satisfaction. I hope to continue doing business there to our mutual benefit for as long as I live in the Los Feliz area! read more

So besides being really close to my house and having a pretty good alternations person, this cleaners doesn't really offer anything spectacular enough to offset their high prices. In fact-- they got grouchy with me when i pointed out some of the "clean" shirts I was picking up still had soiled spots on them as well as some of my buttons had been broken off. Apparently they can't be responsible for cleaning the clothes or not breaking them as part of the service charge... Also, they do offer a discount for customers who place a review on yelp. There is just one tricky component to this discount, you must do it on your phone in front of them and they must read and approve your review before you post it--- hmmnnn is that a legit practice? I know nothing about the quality of their dry cleaning because I didn't get quite that far with Celebrity Cleaners. I saw a deal on their Yelp site for $20 for $30 worth of dry cleaning. Nice! I purchased it and went to Celebrity Cleaners to redeem it. The woman working behind the counter absolutely refused to honor the deal stating that I had to print out the deal in order to redeem it. On the deal, it clearly states that you can redeem it by way of phone. She was convinced that I had to print it out. I tried to explain that I can redeem it through the phone. She would not listen and kept insisting that she had to have a paper copy to "send to the company." Honestly, it was some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered, and I'm a totally reasonable person who understands that sometimes people just have bad days. This was not the case. She was so rude for no reason that I just told her to forget it, and I grabbed my things and left. Luckily, Yelp is awesome, and they refunded my money. Next time I see a deal, I'll print it out for sure just to be safe. read more

UPDATE (later that day) I get a call from the manager asking if everything is okay. I tell him about the problem, he cuts me off starts yelling at me and cursing over the phone and then hangs up on me. Incredible. ORIGINAL REVIEW Terrible. $383.16 designer cotton quilt ruined due to high heat. Quilt was 2 months old and was our 1 year wedding anniversary present. We took it in to get cleaned and it came back with the cotton filling completely hardened and weird staining that wasn't there when we took it in. They said they'd redo it and it came back with those little balls all over it. It looks like its been through 50 wash cycles now and its only been through 2. We've been customers for 4 years and have spent probably $1000 there. They would not buy us a new quilt and refused to tell us how they washed it. I couldn't even explain what the problem was without getting interrupted and changing the subject. It was so frustrating. I would try to explain that the quilt was not soft anymore and had new stains on it that weren't there when we took it in. I spoke with 4 people about it made a total of 3 separate trips to this place. The first guy made my wife cry. He was bald and middle aged and yelled and argued until we left, completely defeated and upset. He said they fix it and would call us back to tell us how it was washed the first time. That call was never made and when I called back they still wouldn't tell me. A couple days later I went back to pick up the quilt. The lady gave me quilt back with a bunch balls on it and kept assuring me it was "perfect". I asked her 3 times but she wouldn't tell me how they washed it and after I confirmed with her that she wouldn't find out she finally left and pulled out a worker from the back. This worker basically came out and read me the tag. But since they treated it twice, each time with drastically different results, it was obviously not treated the same twice. He couldn't or wouldn't understand this and refused to explain how their treatment differed. Then a guy walked in who started reassuring me that the stitching was fine. This wasn't the issue we were dealing with and it just confused his co-workers and me and wasted more time. It says on their own receipt that if damaged the item will be reimbursed up to 10x the cost of the receipt ($36.40) which would almost cover what we spent on the quilt 2 months ago ($383.16). I still have the receipt for the quilt. Obviously they refused to do this and we're basically screwed. Wow. Never going back. What a complete bummer. They ruined my lamb skin Paul Smith hat, $150 item. I wanted it cleaned-- BUT they put it through dry cleaning instead and the hat was completely destroyed. I spoke to the owner directly and he was completely unapologetic and did not even offer any sort of store credit, which is a shame because before this incident I would use their services frequently. Apparently, if you're not actually a celebrity you are not worth their time or services. And you will be completely ignored and disrespected. Unbelievable. It seems like everyone either hates their cleaner or just doesn't care. After lots of yelping, I settled on these guys. I just need my button-up shirts clean, flat, and on a hanger. They do just that and don't charge me too much. If I had a priceless item that needed to be cleaned, I'll be honest; I'd probably take it to another place based on others' reviews and the overall look of the place. Then again, I wouldn't be searching for a bargain when getting something with such great emotional weight cleaned. In conclusion, I guess I fall on the 'just don't care' side of the coin. They do a very good and careful job--and while they are definitely not inexpensive, in this case I think you must pay for what you get. It has never occurred to me to take my hats in for either cleaning or blocking but i might try them for that as well. They give an 'old world attention' to modern day garb. read more

Annie is a magician! Her tailoring skills are top notch and her eye for alterations are above and beyond! I bought a pair of vintage pants that I adored- they were just too small, but I wore them anyway...and they ripped! Annie completely re built them for me when I thought I'd lost them forever. Now, they are better than before and comfortable with room to move and breathe! In the time it took for me to try them on after she fixed them, she was able to alter the straps on a dress I had JUST brought it. She also took in another pair of vintage pants that were about 8 sizes too big for me- and she fit them to my body and took them down 6 sizes! She is so sweet, efficient and honest. One of the most horrible, unprofessional services I have received from this place where I've been a long time customer. The alterations woman messed up my brand new jeans with tags on it and had the audacity to take the tag off before returning it to me. She cut it way shorter than I wanted it. Basically ruined my brand new jeans. She yelled at me and complained that she spent 2 hours on it, and wasn't even apologizing for her MISTAKE. She's rude and nasty to say the least. What can I say? I love this place. George the owner is a nice guy. Margaret is always smiling and happy to see you. Annie the seamstress is a straight shooting no B.S. type of person.
