One of the best things about Cenote for me is that it's just a quick walk from our apartment. We literally have so many incredible options at our doorstep. This is the 3rd or 4th time we've been to the cafe (between this location and the old one) and it's never been a disappointment at all. Food is always fresh, made-to-order from the food truck. They have unique food and drink offerings. Plenty of outdoor seating in front on 7th as well as a side porch and side patio area. Service is fast and friendly. Great options for drinks whether n/a, cocktails, beer, soda, or tea/coffee. Dog treats=A+++++!!! Chill and welcoming ATX neighborhood vibe.
First time at Cenote's new location and I love it! It's in a great location however parking is tricky. They have a small lot behind the place in the alleyway. You order at the counter and get a number then find seating yourself. Plenty of seating both inside and out and since the weather was so good we sat outside. I got the 1/2 turkey sandwich with 1/2 ceaser and it was delicious. Loved the pickle. I also got a horchata cold brew that was good as well. Cenote has solid food at reasonable prices too!
There was a piece of hair in my food. While they did take it back and bring me a fresh plate, that destroyed my vibe. Hope you have a better experience.
Kinda torn between 3 and 4 stars. They moved locations which is sad as I enjoyed the outdoor space at the location off Cesar Chavez. This one while bigger doesn't have that same vibe. The outdoor area while similar in layout is missing that rustic charm. Inside is set up simply with booths/tables and they do have four bar seats. This is the old Revival coffee by Gabriela's shop so seeing the white walls was shocking. IYKYK Anyhoo, their menu was simple but had good options. Got the OMG breakfast which was filling. The French toast was perfect for size and the sausage was delicious too. Potatoes, the crispy ones, also great. They were seasoned well and I enjoyed the crispy ones better. Eggs were just eggs, nothing exciting. I ordered a drip coffee for $3 and when asked about refills, found out it would be a $1 for a refill. I mean, really? Why not just charge $2 more for unlimited refills? Cause the line is out the door right now and with one register, when would I be able to get a refill and pay for it? They also are using paper plates vs reusable. The restrooms door lock mechanism is just annoying. It's under the door handle and it auto releases when you test it. So how do you know it's locked?!? Not a fan. I will say the bathrooms kept some of the old color flare. lol Hence the reason I decided on 3 stars. This space has got to be big enough for 100 people (inside and out) so to have one register? This was similar to the other location so guess they prefer to have guests wait. If you come early enough, I got there about 11am on a Saturday, you maybe alright. At 11:40, the line is to 7th and has probably 25 peeps in it and growing.
Great patio and lunch spot! Stopped in mid afternoon for a late lunch and there were so many great seating options and lots of people getting work done. The space is colorful and bright inside along with porch seating and picnic tables outside! I got the chicken Caesar wrap and an iced latte. You order at the counter and our food was brought out quickly. Loved the sweet potato fries and the wrap was pretty solid too!! Perfect spot to sit outside

Cenote has moved from 1st St to 7th St and it definitely feels different now. The coffee is still excellent and probably the main reason I'll keep coming back. The chilaquiles used to be my favorite but this time the egg came on the side and the paper plates just didn't hold up. For the price I'd like to see it made the way it used to be, so I'll probably stick with coffee and a pastry until they settle in. Service was polite and considerate. My coffee order was a little mixed up but they offered to remake it and made sure I was happy. That goes a long way and I think once the team gets more experience it will be great. The new space has both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice, but the vibe is not quite the same as the old location. It feels smaller and more like a café stop than the cozy neighborhood spot it used to be.
In town form Ohio, looking for places we've never been. Little hole in the wall located in somewhat of a sketchy area- but trust me. Just go. There is parking out back but only three spots so we had to park and walk around the corner. Cashier was sweet, food came out in less than 5 minutes and it was incredible. We got iced mochas as well, not pictured, and SO good if you like a little sweet coffee. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor! 10/10.
We stopped here for brunch on a friend's recommendation while visiting Austin and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly, the interior was so cute, the outside picnic tables were so nice in good weather, and the food and drinks were delicious!
Was looking to go to this specific matcha place, but it was closed, so we stopped by Cenote for some matcha lattes. It was good, but it extremely sweet. Don't get me wrong, I love sweets! But I'm used to drinking high grade/quality matcha as is or with minor sweetener as you can still detect the quality of matcha. However, their matcha was so sweet that I couldn't tell, but rather just the sugar. I don't recommend it unless you like your matcha extremely sweet.
Cenote is a really cozy spot to hunker down for a nice brunch and study session. Inside is aesthetic, with green wood paneling around the place, and decor to complement the more vintage vibe. Outside is also quite nice, as there is plenty of shaded outdoor seating, which is also shielded from the street noise (although the area already appears fairly quiet). I ordered the BLAT sandwich ($12), and I was very pleased with it. The bread had a nice crispiness, yet not so much that it was painful to eat, which I have had my fair share of before. The bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato all complemented each other nicely (as do most BLTs), and I was satiated after eating it all. My friend ordered the Avocado Toast and had only glowing things to say about it, claiming that it was the best avocado toast that she has ever had. To top it all off, the service around was very friendly. Once we were done our food, our plates got whisked away without us having to do anything. It is also nice that there is a water self-service station and cups, so you do not have to wait to get more. Would give 5/5 but did personally feel it was on the pricier side. Would recommend and come again though!
Good service, nice atmosphere, and decent food. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. I had the classic breakfast with over medium and bacon. The eggs came over hard, and the bacon was pretty good. The home fries were pretty good, and the biscuit was really good. I didn't really like the jam since it was pretty runny. However, it did have a good strawberry flavor. The coffee was good. I liked the rustic style of the restaurant. It has both indoors and lots of outdoor seating. Parking is extremely limited, so be prepared to walk a block or two, especially on Sunday mornings. It is not romantic but kind of intimate on how it feels like eating at home. So if you are looking for a place to have a nice cup of Joe with some food in a casual restaurant, then stop by Cenote and give it a try.
Heard they are closing soon so you may wanna check them out if you haven't already There was a hugeee line on the weekend (out the door). Dunno if that's typical. The wait time in line was a while, but once we placed our orders, it was so quick! I like how they serve drinks pretty much as soon as we order. The interior colors are nice!! Chai latte-slightly sweet and super delicious. I got half sandwich, half salad. The turkey and avocado sandwich was ok but I think the mango in the salad wasn't ripe yet. Free street parking or you can park at the church lot (not on Sundays).
I definitely judged this book by its cover initially but I ate my words in the end. Place is located in a not so great neighborhood with homeless folk wondering around. We almost didn't stop in because of this but we found parking right away and said "screw it" the kids were starving after kayaking and SUPing. All the items we ordered were delicious and packed with flavor! We order at the counter and food was brought to our table. It took maybe 10-15mins for the food to come out and there was a decent amount of ppl there at about 3pm. Stopped in for some breakfast and coffee. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. There's a large patio area to sit outside and enjoy on nice days. Employees were friendly and helpful explaining how everything worked. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on croissant and my boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito. The food was delicious. We also ordered an iced chai and an iced matcha latte. The drinks could have been a little better. They tasted ok, but a little watered down. read more

What an adorable place, perfect for breakfast, brunch, coffee, and catching up with friends! I came here in a group of 4 at 9am on a Sunday, and there was a line but we didn't have to wait long. You order at the front, and they will give you a number and bring your food out to the table. This place offers classic brunch items, but also some Mexican inspired dishes, as well as a full cafe menu. Everything was HUGE. My bf ordered the breakfast burrito and it was the size of a pillow. My parfait came in a tall cup, and had two layers of granola, padded with fluffy yogurt drizzled with honey, topped with bananas. We also ordered the Horchata cold brew and the Lavender Coconut Cream cold brew. Both were very unique and delicious! I loved the light floral taste of the lavender cold brew, and the coconut cream was enjoyably thick. LOVE how the cup was probably twice the volume as what you'd normally get in California/Starbucks or whatever! There are plenty of covered outdoor seating, and the atmosphere is laid back and quaint. Whatever you're looking for: snacks, breakfast, salads, etc, Cenote probably has it. I ordered the Grande Grilled Breakfast Burrito and this meal is not for the faint of heart. Just as its name states, this burrito is grande AF. You can eat half of it, and save the second half for later, or you can split this big guy with someone else. Even though this meal was hefty in size, it was diminutive in flavor for me. The burrito was actually bland without the salsa. The fries however... perfect. Will easily return to try what else Cenote has to offer. read more

Absolutely delicious food! The ambiance is very cozy, you can sit indoor our outdoors. You truly get the "home" feeling while eating here. My coworkers had been raving about Cenote and their fried chicken chopper salad so I finally got around to trying it. Overall the area is a little sketchy but nothing to be too concerned about. There is parking for the restaurant down one of the side streets which we discovered after a little bit which was nice. There was a fairly large patio area where some people were working remotely and others sat to enjoy their food. The inside is a older, rustic style with darker finishes. Honestly not my favorite aesthetic or location but it did have a charm to it. Would have preferred maybe some more comfortable seating and lights. Food wise, I was surprised that the breakfast taco was the star of the show. Now $4.50 for a breakfast taco is quite expensive to me but I must say it was one of the best ones I have ever had. The tortilla was slightly crispy and the flavor of the chorizo and egg together were unbelievable. It had a unique and delicious taste and was pretty substantial for one taco. If you had a small appetite, 1 or 2 of these would leave you pleased. As for the salad, it was quite good as well. I appreciated the nice portion of chicken and the dressing was a creamy white sauce (not ranch) that complimented the dish well. My only complaint is the breading around the chicken would sometimes easily fall off and the breading itself was bit flour heavy. Besides that it was yummy! All the staff we spoke with were extremely nice and the 2 men working the front were doing a great job handling the business. I enjoyed Cenote and it has some great food. read more
Came here for brunch on a Sunday cause they have a dog friendly patio. I was able to find street parking directly in front of the restaurant but I feel parking could be an issue if I weren't so lucky. Sadly dogs weren't allow inside so I had to wait for my friend to finish ordering at the counter to make my order. Their menus pretty extensive and the quality of food is amazing. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a cold brew coffee. The breakfast burrito was huge! But also f'ing delicious! The food was amazing I was with a friend and ordered Bahn Mi and the Cubano sandwich. It was perfect to share both. The coffee is also a highlight. Not to mention the comforting and cozy atmosphere inside with ample space outside to sit and eat outside in the sun. The workers are kind and welcoming. Definitely a good brunch spot!! read more

This was my second time here and it's such a great coffee shop. It's main flaw is parking but I've either gotten lucky or have been able to find a spot fairly quickly each time. I've enjoyed their iced coffee, iced tea and Cubano. Depending on the weather, their outdoor space in the back is nice and I love the front porch area as well. For working remote, I appreciate how many plugs there are to charge your laptop. The WiFi was good for me (I didn't have any video calls while here). Highly recommend this spot whether it's to work remote or enjoy just for fun! read more

Great atmosphere, nice outdoor seating. Avocado toast was very good, I had a fried egg on top. Also had an iced latte which was good. One friend of mine had the pork tacos, she said they were a little fatty for her taste. Another friend had the steak sandwich and commented that she would've liked it better if it had something else on the bread, not just the meat. Overall, nice place to stop and chill. A great quick and casual lunch or coffee spot! It never disappoints! Their sandwiches and salads always hit. I got a half sandwich and salad combo on gluten free bread. It was great! Felt healthy and fresh, just what we were looking for! They have indoor, outdoor, and covered plant filled patio seating. It's a very cool spot! This Austin favorite is a gem I've been to many times, and is well overdue for a review. Although all are great, this Cenote location is by far my favorite simply for the quirkiness and character of it. The coffee is amazing. And they have breakfast and lunch options that are superb. We ordered a scramble and a cup of the soup of the day and both were phenomenal. The potatoes were super crispy as well, which is always important to me! I also love how they have a lot of local business items in there. They use local rockstar bagels for sandwiches and bagels, and have local kombuchas in the cold section to grab and go. We came on a weekday morning and it was actually very crowded and noisy inside. However we sat on the patio and it was SO quiet and could be the perfect place to work if you are looking for somewhere quieter. There were a few people working out there on laptops so I assume the wifi reached out there as well read more

Here on vacation and feel like I time traveled back to the heyday of coffee houses. Great vibe, great coffee, fun spacious downtempo seating area. Plus after today, killer eats ( breakfast burrito) so good. Plus, also, any great coffee house has to have sweet tunes. Today was the greatest of the rockin 90's. Walk in here the and hear the Pixies, then Sublime, Blind Melon, Alice In Chains( wish it was,here comes the rooster, but denied). Fun atmosphere with inside and outside dining options. The place is eclectic and you'll definitely notice the vibe when you walk in to order at the cashier. So casual and chill. But, there will likely be somewhat of a wait because it's Austin! I placed a fairly basic order, but I know some of the breakfast items are very popular. I liked my burger and fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful while the fries were the right consistency of firm with softness inside. The bun was fluffy and fresh. read more
I've been here twice now and I love the food. Portion sizes are great for the price and their seasonal menu is also fun to try new things from. Tried the Florentine with the horchata cold brew and it was really tasty. I brought my dog with me and they had plenty of outdoor space to sit with him. Came here with a group of seven for breakfast before heading to Austin city limits. We had to wait in line for a little bit since they were busy but after 15 min ordered at the counter and easily found seating (they have ample seating inside and outside). The food did take a while to get out to us because they were busy but I feel like the portions and the quality were still worth it. I ordered a dirty chai latte for my drink which I didn't love, but the Cuban and half mango salad that I had were good and really hit the spot for something healthy but filling. With the environment that they have and the fact that you can get your drinks before your food we didn't mind the wait! read more
Came here for breakfast and got the breakfast taco with chorizo which came with about 3-4 eggs with chorizo on top of a tortilla shell. It was pretty big and paired really well with a coffee. The chorizo gave it a little bit of flavor but otherwise the eggs were a bit bland so it really needed some salsa. I wish the cheese was melted more instead of just thrown on top. Overall a very filling dish for a low cost. read more
A chill brunch spot in East Austin with a fast serving system! We arrived at Cenote on a Sunday morning around 10am. Parking was not the easiest, but once we were in line to order things were a breeze. It's the type of place where you order before you find a table (line moves pretty fast). Once we had our order in, we grabbed some water and a seat on the patio. Our food came out SO fast once we had sat down! Wow. We had a small group and tried: - Migas - amazing, very fresh, could have used 1 more tortilla - Eggs Benedict - yummy, served over biscuits with bacon and eggs and their own spin on sauces - Apple butter pancakes - a little dry without any additional butter but the perfect treat to share among us - Cenote Scramble - goat cheese & eggs & arugula made for a very fresh entree read more

Cenote is my FAVORITE brunch spot in ATX! Here's my two cents: Food: Fresh and delicious. They have a fairly extensive menu with all the breakfast favorites you could possibly ask for. I went for a traditional breakfast (eggs and bacon) and was very happy with my decision. And of course, a mimosa to wash it all down! Service: You order and receive your food at the counter. The staff is very friendly. We visited on a Saturday and it was VERY busy (stood in line for about 25 minutes). If you plan to come over the weekend, make sure you give yourself enough time! Ambiance: there are indoor and outdoor seating options available (and it's all open seating!). The outdoor area is so nice. The restaurant is surrounded by lush gardens (so pretty) which does unfortunately attract bees in the summer time. That's truly the only negative I can think of. We will be back! read more

First morning in Austin and we were searching for coffee near the air bnb and found Cenote. I went in for 2 coffees to go. Iced lavender latte and cold brew. You order at the counter and wait for your items around the corner. I enjoyed my lavender latte. They serve food here as well. I did not have the opportunity to come back and get food as I had so many places on my list for Austin and so little time. Definitely a great place for coffee and breakfast/brunch. read more
