For once, a top ten New York item lived up to its rating. Although skeptical after my last "World's Best Pizza" slice, the famous grill cheese sandwich certainly is one of New York's finest. The dipping sauce of tomato soup with basil made the dish even more savory. The portions are gourmet size, but the tastes will leave you satisfied. I like to come to this bar. It gives you a feeling of being on vacation in my island. The view is amazing specially at night that you can see all the craziness of the city from above. I've never being curious about the food, I've been here couple times only for either virgen cocktails because I'm Not a drinker or a glass of wine. Since I can't rate the food I would rate the service which I think is 5 stars. Of course the prices here are up to sky but obviously you are basically paying for the view which is nothing wrong with that. You pay for what you like to enjoy. Yes it's in a shopping center, but look past that this place speaks high end hotel bar they have good food but the best part is the drinks and the view. The bar/lounge is located at the top of Columbus circle shopping center the view is spectacular and the drinks are top notch. Good for any occasion whether a date or casual night out for drinks, or casual drink after shopping. Went here for dessert after Porterhouse Steakhouse (which was amazing). Asked the hostess if we could just do dessert and she said no problem. When the waiter came by to take our order he literally says "seriously? That's it?" And then grabs our menus and storms off. Then he comes back with dessert 20 minutes later and basically drops it on the table in annoyance and again storms off. The molten lava cake was cold and tasteless. This place is located on the 4rd flr of the Time Warner Center and caters mostly to tourists which probably explains the $18 alcoholic beverages. The barmaids here are classless as they have no problem discussing their lousy tips, or stepping on each other's toes to get customers. I felt as though I was at a strip joint and not some classy tourist trap in Manhattan. Oh and don't even get me started on those tiny tables they have for a party of four. I love this bar's location - within sight of those blue doors, that most wonderful place, Per Se. The bar made a damn good Sazerac, using absinthe instead of herbsaint (thank goodness absinthe is allowed in the States now), Peychaud's bitters (of course) and a generous pour of rye. The prices are high, but you're paying for the location -within a stone's throw of Thomas Keller's east coast masterpiece and gazing towards Central Park, with the lit, suspended glass stars right below you - in addition to the excellent cocktails. The Boy ordered a gin-based cocktail (I think it was called the Last Word or the Long Goodbye?) and deemed it good, as did I. This place has had my attention on three separate occasions. I live only a few blocks from here so it is very convenient, although on the fourth floor which two of my whiny friends complained is not convenient at all LOL (too many escalators I guess) Pros: Food is good. I had the grilled cheese which is to die for, and another sort of cheese plate. I honestly don't recall the name but it is on the appetizer menu I know this sounds weird and maybe an oxymoron, but the nonalcoholic drinks here are amazing. My favorite is the vanilla and ginger ale. I sucked down two of them in about 10 minutes. (Be careful of the price though) LOL Great for people watching. On my last trip this week, Stephen Colbert was sitting at the next table. (As an example - there have been many others) I have always had decent luck getting in. It helps to not dress like a slob so be forewarned. The place is pretty small so if you come during a busy time or on a Friday night, be prepared to wait or have reservations. Cons: This place shares the bathroom with the restaurant next door. It is absolutely a disgusting mess (although looks like an otherwise good restaurant). Also plan ahead and give yourself some time to walk there. It's a bit pricey for what you get. I will continue coming back and think overall it's a great spot in the city. read more

Went here yesterday around 10-11 pm for a bite and some drinks. Ordered an old fashioned, a mocktail with club soda,rose water+ raspberries, tuna and tartar, and the center bar burger. Total was around 80-90 dollars. Pros: The restaurant had really nice view of colombus circle overall. It was super spacious and it could be described as having almost a 34-hudson yards vibe. The mocktail that I had was very good. It was presented in a tall thin class that was very aesthetic looking. It had fresh raspberries and the flavors were very prominent. I liked the cavier on the tuna tartar. It was chilled. I liked the beautiful simple plating with fresh greens and the creamy sauce on top. Cons: The main problem I have here is the wait staff. They are not very professional. The server who served us had wrinkly clothes and his shirt was not tucked in properly. He spilled nuts all over the ground next to us when we paid the check and he didn't bother cleaning it up, which I found to be the strangest thing. He also acted very distant and messed up on a couple essential things. Personally, I don't care if wait staff mess up. It is more so his uncaring attitude. My friend was coughing kind of badly and he did not offer water or anything more or less just stood still. In terms of the food I mainly found the burger to be a bit mediocre for its price point. The ketchup was of the same quality of Mcdonalds or Burger King. The burger itself needed some sauce as I could only taste the seasoning. The tuna tartar could honestly use some more acidity like lime to really accentuate those flavors. I would overall rate the food a little above average and not really work the price point. In addition, the closing time was 11 pm even though their listed hours was 12 AM. Overall as a place that has more than $$, I have a higher expectation. Employees should clean up the messes they make promptly and the food is clearly overpriced for its location. read more

I stood directly in front of the hostess for nearly five minutes while she refused to acknowledge my presence. I live in the area and never gave this place a shot because I thought it would be too pricey. I normally go to the Bouchon Bakery as a pre-theater drink and meal and leave unimpressed (and Bouchon has a B rating). I went to center bar and was treated so well. That extra flight of stairs is worth it for a guaranteed great view of columbus circle, live music, and over 40 different types of cocktails. I was so pleased by our waitress and her suggestions and although we didn't try any food, it is on our list for next time. The drinks came with a tray of peanuts, pretzels and wasabi peas which was also nice. Located on the 4th fl of the Time-Warner Building, it overlooks the huge lobby with views of Columbus Circle and Central Park beyond. It's comfortable and surprisingly not that noisy. There's a piano player but it wasn't overpowering conversations. The price is pretty high for both drinks and snacks. The drinks were good. We ordered the Charcuterie for a snack. The meats were very good .. but all it was served with were some baguette slices. Would have expected some olive oil on the bread and definitely a chutney or jam to offset the saltiness of the meats. Even a grainy mustard and cornichons would have been nice. Service while attentive, was bizarre. The waitress delivered my drink, placed it on the table then laid the coaster next to it. I thought she just forgot to move the drink on top of it... but then she brought my friend's drink and did the same thing. On top of that, there was not a napkin to be found anywhere. A woman an a neighboring table spilled some water on herself and had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for a few paper napkins. When we had out 2nd round of drinks, the manager brought over my friend's drink and still no napkins. She asked him is it that they don't have napkins and the manager said of course they do and had the waitress bring a couple over. This kind of service is just surprising to me for what is supposed to be an upscale bar/lounge. With many other choices around, don't think I will be back soon. read more

What a great spot! My mom and I got drinks here the other night and we were pleasantly surprised with the polite waitstaff, delicious winter margaritas and the food! Classic view overlooking Columbus Circle, it maintains a very open feeling but you also feel secluded from the rest of the mall. I ordered a grilled cheese and it was honestly one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had - the cheese was so rich and thick, just what I needed on a Friday after a long week at work. The tomato sauce was amazing, it comes in its own separate bowl. Some may think it's on the pricey side, but it's well worth it if you want to treat yourself. Starting with the ( nasty ) hostess, who greets you first, Rude and mannerless, in a very obnoxious tone, " we can't seat you here " We were six people. I had guests with me, so I didn't want to make a scene, so we sat at the bar , kept reordering our drinks and the would arrive two at a time , took about a good half hour till we all had our drinks and one of us never got it, wasn't worth reordering again, service was horrendous.
