We went to Central Bar & Kitchen just because it was in our hotel, and we were tired from a day of traveling. Wow! What a treasure we had right there in our hotel. The food was amazing! Their Truffle Bucatini still haunts my dreams (in the best way). Then, despite our happy food comas, we ended up staying at the bar for several hours because the atmosphere was so much fun. Specifically, our bartender, Kirby! We had so much fun with him! In addition to mixing the best old-fashioned I've ever had and making excellent wine recommendations for my vinophile friend, he was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and funny. And then he performed for us from behind the bar! Our fun bartender, Kirby, became Kirby Lyle: an amazing and engaging singer/songwriter. What a great first night in Nashville and we hadn't even left our hotel;-) We had a wonderful time in the wonderful city of Nashville. We ate great food, drank great beer & whiskey, and listened to fun music. However, each evening, we found ourselves looking forward to returning to our home base at Central Bar and catching up with our new friend, Kirby. And every night as we recapped our day while listening to the music of Kirby Lyle, we agreed that we were listening to the best artist we experienced each day. So in a nutshell... Central Bar & Kitchen manages to be an upscale bar/ restaurant that is also very cool and fun. Come for the delicious food, but stay (and come back often) for the music and camaraderie of Kirby Lyle. I'm not typically jazzed to spend my precious, limited vacation meals IN the hotel, but this was one of few exceptions to my rule. My first night, I went down to the restaurant bar as it was late and I just didn't feel like dealing with figuring it out elsewhere. But it ended up being such a special accident that I got to spend my inaugural night chatting and being truly entertained by the bartender. The drinks were fantastic and I had him surprise me with his own creations- I can't even tell you what they were but they "slapped", as the kids say! And as if the genuine conversation and great cocktails weren't enough- he whips out a guitar and starts riffing! When in Nashville, I guess :) Turns out he's a musician and in the process of making another album, so I'm happy to say I met him on his way up. Anyway, I was staying for three nights, and found myself capping off my evenings back with Kirby Lyle (search him and stream him!). Downtown was a bit too hectic, and it was so much more homey and personal at the bar with Kirby. I just wanted to send him a shout out because he made my trip more than it was going to be and I really appreciate him and his genuine energy. He's 5 stars! read more

Not only are the facilities clean, the food great and the space welcoming, but Usama LET ME TELL YOU. Above and beyond is an understatement. He didn't stop at his job or a positive, kind attitude. We were in town for my sister's brain surgery and naturally overwhelmed in thoughts and prayers for her. He not only expressed the thoughts and prayers he would have for her, but in discovering we were in care of my niece and nephew, he made sure they had something as "small" as enough strawberries and bacon to get them going for long days at the hospital. He even sent my niece home with her own container of fresh strawberries! There are no small things or small acts of kindness and God blessed us with such good care and service. We cannot thank Marriot, but Usama ENOUGH for all that was done to make it any easier to watch my sister go through this trauma. Two thumbs are not nearly enough, nor are enough stars in the galaxy. This would be your standard hotel bar but for one thing: its absolutely extraordinary bartender, Kirby Lyle. A great bartender somehow feels like an old friend the first time you meet him. That's Kirby. He's also a terrific conversationalist and, on top of all that, an accomplished musician. If you give him a little encouragement, he'll break out his guitar and treat you to a song or two: maybe a John Prine cover or one of his own original compositions. Nashville is music city, but this place is still far enough from the Broadway honky tonks that it's a welcome surprise to get to chat with and listen to the music of someone so talented. I travel a good deal and I've stayed in a lot of Marriotts, but enjoying a drink with Kirby is, by a long margin, my favorite experience in any of them. Evelyn is honestly the most personable server we've ever had in Nashville. She's funny, honest and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the corn dip which was so absolutely warm and delicious like a home cooked meal. The lump crab hushpuppies were amazing as well, our one thought is that the aioli paired with it is lacking, a remoulade would be more fitting. The enchiladas were DIVINE. We did not anticipate how good they would truly be. A wonderful meal with wonderful service in a beautiful place made for a truly special night. This is our second dinner with Evelyn, and we will definitely come back hoping to see her and of course have the delicious food again. One comment though, we did NOT enjoy the bartender singing and playing guitar, if we wanted to listen to live music we would go to Broadway and hangout with the tourists. read more

We came here Christmas day and, thankfully, they were open! Food was delicious. But it was the service here that was memorable. Our server was Kirby Lyle, and he was extremely thoughtful from start to finish. My wife has celiac and a dairy allergy, and Kyle asked the right questions to us and the chef to make sure my wife would be safe for our dining experience. Furthermore, it turned out he was a musician. He brought out a guitar and sung a song for us and the kids. Definitely made our Christmas day memorable. Great service and Great food There of course are a lot of awesome places to go when you are in Nashville, but make sure to check this spot out- Kirby Lyle is one of the kindest and knowledgeable bartenders out there, make sure to ask him for menu (and music) recommendations- Also- side note... My sweet boyfriend took me to Nashville for the first time and the first thing we did was to get some espresso martinis at the Central Bar+Kitchen. Our bartender Bre made the best espresso martinis ever! She was very sweet and she even recommended some cool places to visit while we're in Nashville. We just love the bar so much so we went for drinks again on our second night and we met Kirby Lyle. He was awesome! He sang and played the guitar for us while we're drinking our martinis.
