WAITRESS NAMED MADDY AKA RED FLAG Food 4 star Service 2 star Had dinner with a group after our day in Pittsburgh and it was the first time there for a few of us. Went based on the recommendation of the others in our party. All of us were thoroughly disappointed. Our visit began fine, food and drink orders taken and then we were left with time to talk. That time lasted for about 20 minutes before any of us got any of our soups and salads. We asked if bread came with our dinners, were told yes, and then the waitress disappeared again. Our dinners came out and one member of our party has a dairy allergy which was disclosed at the beginning of our visit. She ordered her dinner with just oil and garlic on her shrimp scampi pasta dinner. When her plate was placed in front of her, all that was on it were about 6 pieces of shrimp. When we asked where her pasta was, the waitress said it was just coming out. Then about three minutes after telling us that she returned asking what type of pasta she ordered. She finally brought back a side order of pasta, which is not how the dish had been presented to her on past visits. And the pasta was cold. Within 10 minutes of eating her pasta, she immediately felt the affects from something in her meal containing dairy. Another member of our party received her entree which was a salad with absolutely no dressing and had to ask multiple times for her dressing. Each time we had asked for something that was missing, our waitress came back with one thing and would forget all the others. We waited after getting our entrees and had still not received any bread. We had to ask for it a total of 6 times. It was finally brought over after we had already asked for boxes. We ordered a few desserts, which we saw our waitress plating and were brought the dessert plates before any boxes or any clearing of plates so we all had to sit there holding our desserts until we were able to move plates around to make room. One member of our party scoured nearby clean tables for clean silverware for our desserts. Who knows when those silverware sets were replaced. We realized that the tiramisu had been garnished with cinnamon. Not the traditional plating but also not the largest issue of the night. We asked for a manager to come to our table. Within the 20 minutes we waited for the manager, the waitress came to our table more times that the whole night. After waiting over 20 minutes, we finally went up front and asked for the manager there. Whoever we talked to at the end of our visit was helpful, but I can honestly say we will pre-warn anyone we know that plans to patronize Central Diner and Grille. read more

This place is AMAZING. You could go here every meal, every day for a week, get something totally different, and leave full, happy, and not broke. Their Greek specialties are authentic. Their breakfast is sinfully good. They have healthy options & they're willing to accommodate healthy requests. The bread that comes with breakfast is from a local bakery & it's amazing. Seriously. I've been here twice. This place is my home away from home. The food is perfect comfort food. The choices are endless. I'd recommend just picking one of the specials. The menu is gigantic. The service is fast and the portions are giant. I'm from Cincinnati and even had the courage to wear my Bengals gear in here. They gave me a free cookie for having such courage. I was hoping for much more based on the reviews. On the plus side the place is clean, I was seated very quickly and had my coffee and water given to me quickly. But my breakfast -which was two eggs Canadian bacon and toast- came cold. I sent it back -waitress brought it back microwaved-but then I never saw the waitress again ...even for refills. Dinner on 8/20/2022. Seated outside at a dirty table upon which the waitstaff flung some placemats. Staff was busy, no problem, so somebody brought water and sticky menus while we waited. A long wait later wait staff took our order, mom's burger arrived with paper still attached to the cheese. Found it after the third bite. Bathrooms were not clean and partially out of order. So I'm Greek and know my Greek food very very well. Did take out from Central Diner. Gyro platter, gyro meat burnt and dry. McDonalds type fries. Moussaka, no nutmeg, bland, big portion but not true Greek Moussaka. Greek Salad dressing, orange color, really, where's the olive oil, vinegar, oregano? Disappointed in Central Diner based on all the positive reviews here. Maybe the owner needs to get back in the kitchen to teach his non Greek cooks how to make real Greek food? read more

I tell everyone about this place. Robinson is full of below average chain nonsense and this place shines well above all of them. This is a true classic dinner complete with Greek owners who are always there. I spoke with one of them and he said the greatest thing,"instead of all the magazines and unnecessary extras, the extras go on the plate." They couldn't be more right. The food is homemade and delicious, but incredibly inexpensive. The turkey club is fresh roasted thick sliced turkey and you can barely fit your mouth around it, the corn beef hash could feed 3 people, and the French toast is the size of the plate. You won't find a better place to spend your money. They also have the best cheesecake I've ever had. Support local business that deserve it and they deserve it. read more

Managers Jeff and Nick were extremely kind and accommodating and the order came out flawless. Everyone at the event raved about the food (and the cake!) The salads, apps and sandwiches are all great. We had a Gyro plate with fries and a Rueben with sweet potatoes fries. The Gyro meat was very generous and authentic. The Rueben was good although seemed toasted rather than grilled. The sauerkraut was kinda bland. The sweet potato fries were very good but an extra $2 is kinda pricey. read more

I've been here many times in the past, and have had both good and bad experiences. It had been a few years since I was here last, so this past Sunday mom and I visited for dinner. I was satisfied with my food, but my mom was very disappointed. She had Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp, with a baked potato, and a cup of soup ($22.95). She thought the shrimp batter was horrible, worst she ever had, and her potato had a big human hair in it. She told the server, and was given a replacement potato, but nothing was done about the shrimp. She also told the cashier (a young fellow), but he didn't care. No cheers this time. read more

My family & I have frequented this establishment many times. The portions are very generous for the price. The menu is diverse but the best part of all this is the taste of the food. Everything is always so good. I recommend the rice pudding. Yum. Friendly & prompt service too. You can't ask for much more than that. Breakfast, lunch dinner, desserts or just cocktails. This review is focused only on the Food as my first interaction with them was a Take Out. We wanted to do a Breakfast-esque dinner this past Friday so ordered the following - Garden Omelette, Nova Scotia Lox & Onion Omelette, Nova Scotia Benedict, Chicken Parmigiana sandwich, French Onion Soup. Garden Omelette was lacking ANY kind of seasoning so felt like eating a dry omelette with boiled vegetables added to it! Not appetizing at all!! Nova Scotia Lox & Onion Omelette was OK. Seasoned well with a decent amount of Lox, albeit a bit dry again. Perhaps if we'd dined in, it may have been more moist. Nova Scotia Benedict, easily the BEST dish of the lot by far! And this isn't saying much since one of the yolks wasn't runny which is a deal-breaker when it come to a proper Egg Benedict. Still a very good dish with generous serving of Lox. Chicken Parmigiana sandwich was average at best. The chicken patty itself was dry/leathery and over-coated. The marinara sauce was overpowered by the abundance of Italian spices. The bread was fine. French Onion Soup, was good but way too salty. The issue I think here was that they seasoned the soup itself with a shade more than required and once paired with the already salty Gruyere cheese, the whole concoction went almost unpalatable. I might give this place another try, but would steer clear of the breakfast side this time. Their large sized cakes though, look verrrryy delightful to me!! read more

I believe this is the last time we will visit this restaurant. The food over the past year has been hit or miss. My last three visit not good. One visit I ordered spanakopita, they served it burnt and dried out. The server should have never served any dish looking like that. Then the server look perplexed when I asked to please take this dried out dish back. He did make the food right. No apology. Gave them a second try 2 weeks ago. Was served lukewarm soup. Didn't bother to say anything. Just figured I wouldn't return. Well my husband wanted to stop tonight after the ball game and grab something to eat. I told him of my experience and he said if you're going to get breakfast it can't be that bad. We walked in tonight at 10:28 pm. The woman that runs the restaurant saw us coming in the door and walked in the back. So we were standing there for a few minutes when she comes out and said to us "are you getting take out?" I responded no we were going to eat here. She appeared as though she didn't want to seat us. I said are you closed? She then said to us I guess you can get something quick to eat. My husband lost it. He said no we will leave, I'm not eating quick. Your hours say your open until 11:00 pm. Most likely we would have been in and out by 11:10. I completely understand if a patron walks it at 10:50 and you quit serving at 11:00. Possibly that's would make more sense. You could list your hours as serving until 10:30pm. We would have never went there. In my opinion you should never tell patrons they can eat quick. Tell them you quit serving, closing early anything but eat quick. read more

This is going To be a mixed review. I went on Wednesday night and had a Reuben and it was quite good. I went again tonight, on Thursday night and had a different experience. I ordered the prime rib special. I ordered it medium rare. It came out well done. That happens from time to time, no problem. The manager came out and apologized. That was good. The issue that I have is that he explained what happened. He said that they cook the prime rib on Saturday and Sunday. They then cut it and put it under the broiler as they need it throughout the week. In other words, they reheat several day old prime rib. That is not what I would expect from a decent restaurant. They did take it back and got me a another meal. read more

A pretty great spot in Robinson. It's a little difficult to turn in to, had to make a semi-risky left turn across the busy Steubenville Pike. The place was packed tonight but we got a table right away. You'll notice a fully stocked bar right as you walk in, not what I was expecting from a diner. Our waitress (Paola) was wonderful, super friendly and on top of things. The menu is enormous and they have plenty of specials, it's honestly a little overwhelming. Prices are great. I had the California Burger and I was surprised with a pickle and large bowl of coleslaw to start. For better or worse, the portions at this place are huge. The burger was good but not great, they appear to use frozen patties. Someone I was with had the eggplant parmesan, she said it was great but was probably enough to feed three people. Got a deluxe burger for me and it came with lettuce tomatoes and cheese? No onions, mayo, or pickles on a burger? That's deluxe? Pretty unusual to say the least. I haven't been here in years and since we moved out to the Rosslyn Farms area I am so glad we decided to stop here to grab some dinner! They have a huge menu to select from for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night food. The wait was not long at all and they were very busy. Definitely the spot to be. Our servers were very polite. Service was a bit slow at times but it was crowded and it was a Saturday evening. We ordered the fries as an app and they were so good. We both ordered paninis, mine was a grilled chicken and my fiancé ordered a Greek panini. Both tasted really fresh and declicous. We also both had soup which was amazing. The portions are huge as you can see from the giant piece of cake we had for dessert!! We got the mocha chocolate cake. We had plenty of boxes to take food home and the prices are very reasonable. I had a gyro dish and it was pretty decent but nothing to write home about. I was happy to be able to get French fries instead of shredded potatoes. Excellent, simply stated. Met an old friend for lunch here today - my first time here. It was his recommendation, and boy wax it s good one! This place is clean, well kept, presents very well, and the staff wax friendly and quite attentive. The food? I had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Holy cow...it was huge, but even better, it was delicious! The dressing was terrific. My friend had an omelette and it looked great as well, and as he didn't leave any, I'm guessing it was good. My family picks me up from the airport. We go here for breakfast. I never get breakfast. The omelets are over cooked. They have been in the pan, or on the flattop so long, they are brown. The eggs get dried out. Then there is no taste. A long standing rule amongst chefs' If it is cooked in the pan, they are overcooked on the plate. If you are going for breakfast, get lunch. They do a much better job. The fish and chips are not bad, but get the chicken parm, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and jalapeño. Lunch is better and you will not be disappointed. However, i have never tried the the pancackes, or the french toast.,, Still give it a whirl... No omelets read more

I have been dying to try this restaurant for months because of the rave reviews & finally had the chance to stop in last night. I had chicken parmesan & it was absolutely horrible. It was very thin chicken pieces that were burnt & tasted like shoe leather. It was extremely disappointing, especially because of the price ($19.95). I was expecting a much better experience.
