This place is slightly following Covid guidelines, I'm pretty confident their indoor dining was over 25% while we were in red tier. On the other hand, they have outdoor dining with each section that is private. The food was ample and great for sharing. Their chicken wings came out sizzling hot and had an amazing sauce. Sometimes the hardest part about going to a new restaurant is knowing what's the best thing to order off the menu. Well thankfully that did not cause a problem during my first visit to Cha Cha Cha! While in San Francisco for a work trip my coworker brought a few of us to Cha Cha Cha for dinner after our first full work day. She had previously lived in San Fransicso and was dying to get some of their Cajun shrimp and sangria. Once we arrived we immediately ordered a pitcher of sangria and took a moment to look at the menu. After a short discussion we decided to go family style and order several dishes to share. I highly recommend doing this with their tapas because you'll want to try every thing! I can't even remember all we ordered, but everything amazing! The stand outs for me were the sangria, the calamari, and of course the Cajun shrimp. Do be aware that the Cajun shrimp dish is almost half sauce so you'll want to order extra bread. And I mean a lot of extra bread because people may look at you funny if you try to lick the skillet clean! Another stand out was the atmosphere of this place, with its dim lighting and funky Haight St. appropriate decor. Been going to this place for years both the Haight and Mission locations. I love the food, atmosphere and drinks but I hate to say the last 2 times I have been to the Haight location and sat outside service was a bit slow... The last time I was here I had to essentially knock on the window to get a servers attention. Now for the good parts though, the food itself is really good and solid. My favorite being the cajun shrimp (sadly serving size has gotten a little smaller compared to years ago but that is just how it is these days for many places right? ), also the ceviche is always really good and fresh tasting to me. Also have to love the free bread which btw works great in the sauce from the shrimp. As for drinks I usually just get a nice beer or wine but everyone always talks about their sangria, which is really good don't get me wrong, but just a little $$$ for my liking. Cha cha cha is a SF staple! This Cuban restaurant is in the quirky Height Ashbury neighborhood. I recently dined here for lunch after years of not coming here. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon and It was not crowded at all. Everything here is bomb. If you haven't tried plantains, you have to get them here. Another appetizer we got was the fried calamari. It was nice and crispy and went well with the two dipping sauces. The chicken wings are also really good. They come out piping hot and they are BIG wings. For our mains we ordered the cajun shrimp. Hint: dip the free bread they give you in that yummy creamy sauce! Lastly, we ordered the seafood paella. They do not skimp on the seafood in this dish! I came for happy hour with a few friends. We had to order the sangria pitcher because it was only $28! It had a few servings for each of us. Now onto the food, we ordered the popular cajun shrimp, paella, calamari, and ceviche. The paella was my favorite out of these dishes, but it was pretty pricey for the amount of food we got. Same goes for the cajun shrimp, it was really yummy but there weren't that many shrimp in there.. definitely not enough to justify the high price tag! My friend and I came in after a long-day of events and everything in the neighborhood was closed, except Cha Cha Cha! It was a great surprise. The restaurant was pretty darkly lit inside but the food came out quickly and the service was great. I have been to Cuba and have eaten many plates of Ropa Vieja before, so feel like I can judge it pretty fairly. The steak was a little chewier than I would have liked but otherwise had a nice flavor! The sides of rice and beans were very large but no flavor came out and grabbed me. I would say for the size alone this place deal - my friend and I shared our order. Delicious and great service! We were seated immediately outside (we had a dog). We ordered a pitcher of sangria and three dishes: jerk chicken, curry chicken empanada, and paella. Everything came out to us in about 10-15 minutes (as well as water for our dog!). The pitcher is a great deal - lots of sweet sangria for $20. We got the jerk chicken first - so delicious! Meat is so tender and the sauce is so flavorful. We could eat the gravy with the rice alone. The empanada came with some side salad of mixed greens - great flavor as well, but I think the jerk chicken had more flavor. The paella was great! I've been to Cha Cha Cha a few times and I loveeee their tapas! The restaurant itself is very festive and nicely decorated and can get very loud! On my most recent visit, I ordered the Cajun Shrimp (hellllaaaaa good! Highly recommend) and the Ceviche. Our tapas came out pretty fast along with some bread and butter. The Cajun shrimp is my favorite here! You don't actually get a lot of shrimp for the price you're paying (about 6 shrimps) but the sauce is bomb af - it's the perfect amount of spice and creaminess and it's very flavorful, recommend using the bread to dip in the sauce! The ceviche was really good too, it's like any other ceviche I've had - I probably wouldn't get this again, since I'd want to they their other items. The service here is also really good too! The staff was very attentive and I was checked on multiples times. Overall, Cha Cha Cha is a solid restaurant on Haight. This is a great place to get Caribbean/Cuban tapas. I've been here a couple times and would recommend the Cajun Shrimp and Ceviche. They give you complimentary bread and butter and the bread is great with the Cajun Shrimp! I like using the bread to soak up all the sauce! The ceviche is tangy and refreshing and also comes with tortilla chips. I've had the Sangria here as well and it's pretty good. I believe they have Happy Hour during the weekdays if you want to stop by for some drinks and food. The servers are pretty attentive and will give you extra bread and chips if you ask. The food also comes out fairly quick. Besides table seating, there is also bar seating available. Parking can sometimes be difficult but I usually find street parking after circling around. Today I decided to have my brunch lunch at Cha Cha Cha. At Cha Cha Cha you can chew chew chew. Ok, so is this a Caribbean restaurant or a Cuban restaurant..and really I just want some "plantains" or is that bananas..Oh I don't know, but you know I am an Asian customer today. I wanted to see the menu and I decided to get the "Cubano sandwich" instead of anything else really. I like to try Cubano sandwiches, but sometimes they are not that good. It's a ciabatta dough bread with ham, white swiss-y cheese, some kind of pickled veggie(flat) and maybe another kind of sliced meat inside. I can't make Cubano sandwich at home because we don't specialize in this cuisine. Cha Cha Cha is a fun restaurant on Haight Street and I kept wanting to visit all these years but I wasn't able to convince myself to. I decided to make today the day to try it and I could come back, but I am not sure. The plaintains were nice to try as a side and I would eat more plantains. The decor is fun and Caribbean looking with masks. I got a lemonade for $3 because I don't like water, so it must be lemonade(it could be free/no refills today darn). I decided to walk around Haight Street some more and get a bloody mary at Hobson's. Cha Cha Cha could be fun with a group and I saw many couples on a San Francisco Sunday. read more
