I used to love it here but the drinks have become way too milky these days. You can tell by the color how diluted they've become. I was so excited to try this place & have gone twice before writing this review. I find the staff to be all over the place & both times I went they were preparing drinks very sloppily. One thing that is unacceptable is the inconsistency of their drinks. Depending on the barista, each one makes the drinks differently. I paid nearly $10 for their purple drink with a shot of matcha on top the last time. It was barely a pastel purple & had not much flavor. Since I'd never had it- I didn't know better. Having gone online & talked to other friends who frequent here, it shouldn't have looked or tasted like that. Hmmmm...not cool. I also had their signature matcha latte (hot) which I found to be absolutely nothing special & of basic quality. I question the cleanliness as well since the barista was rushing things and was spilling things everywhere. While also simultaneously wiping his hands on his pants then touching whatever drink he was working on again. And for six dollars, I would prefer to go to a place like Intelligentsia that has seating and a less intense aesthetic. The service was ok. The baristas forgot to make my drink. After letting the lead barista know that I had been waiting for several minutes and others after me in line had received their matchas, the barista gave me a few free drink vouchers. This is my FAVORITE matcha in all of LA. I'm sensitive to matcha since I don't get caffeine all that often and this stuff packs a punch! I always go early (9 am) when there are no crowds so I've always gotten my drink promptly. I've gotten a hot ginger/turmeric matcha latte w/ macadamia milk and it's AMAZING! Great ingredients and effective to fight colds. This is the only place in LA I've found a gluten-free AND dairy-free donut (most donut shops have one or the other, not both) and I inhale it in bites. The icing is like crack it's so good. It's a tad expensive ($14 for one ginger/turmeric and one donut w/ $1 tip), but the ingredients are such high quality, it makes sense. And the aesthetic is so cute!! Tip: go early (before 10am)! You'll get the whole place to yourself and with such a cute aesthetic, you'll want to take pics before the crowd. read more

We were excited to try this matcha bar but it didn't live up to the hype. While the place is cute and the matcha was pretty decent the people working there were outrageously beyond rude, and the restrooms were so disgusting that it made me concerned about their hygiene practices. The toilet look like it hadn't been cleaned in over a month, and had an extensive assortment of body hair all along the rim and seat. The extremely snotty girl with long dark hair was annoyed by everything, obviously felt like she was far to good to be making matcha and when someone accidental spilled she literally rolled her eyes all the way to the back of her skull and said to them great, thanks now we have to clean that up. My teen. & tween wanted Matcha - I gave them a $20 and said, have at it - meet me at Timbuk2, and bring me the change. After whipping up the girls drinks - the staff informed my 15 yr old that they DON'T ACCEPT CASH. Kind of put her in a bind as the drinks were made. When I went in to complain, they said they were "being nice to her to take cash, as they don't accept cash".... They were very reluctant to give me the manager's name and looked at me like I was crazy ( I felt like a Karen asking!). They wouldn't accept payment - They gave me my money back, I gave the cookies back, I did leave a tip - but the whole debacle ruined our shopping trip. I loved it here! The whole space is like an instagram story exploded -- everything is photo ready. However I was not, I regret not wearing makeup and regret not getting a cute post to prove to all my rich friends that yes, I can in fact spend $10 on a green drink and be "happy" and "carefree" about it. I was first introduced to the brand while I was in NYC and had it on my list of places to visit while I was there back in August of last year, but I didn't have enough time in my schedule to check it out. I did see, photos via text from my mom and sister of what they ordered and the soft serve looked good and the fun decor was just as pictured. Hearing about the location that had opened up in LA, I was ecstatic that I would be able to visit Cha Cha Matcha in my home state. Situated on a corner, the open windows and front door welcomes those who pass by. The colors and decor are eye catching and fun to look at -- super inviting and has that upbeat feel-good atmosphere. I was having a difficult time trying to decide what to order just reading based off their menus -- I wanted to make sure I would be ordering something I'd like. With the use of Yelp's photos, a couple of the items I showed to the marista were seasonal items. After deliberating on a few items that were suggested, I decided to play it super safe and go with the Matcha + Water drink. You're able to watch your drink be made after you order which I think is super neat! The two individuals who were working that day were super nice humans -- I was given my 1st Cha Cha Matcha beverage on the house, had a couple photos taken and was complimented on my dress, ARIGATO! I cannot wait to go back to try more from their menu -- food and drink wise and to spend some time inside. I LOVE the way the store was built with the open window/ledge seating and when that golden hour light hits, its so magical! Super fun place to check out if you're visiting town or if you're a regular in the area :] They also sell merchandise - apparel, tumblers, matcha, and the traditional bamboo whisk so it can be created back at home. TLDR; Got super sick. Stay away from this place, especially if you have nut allergies. Met up with a group of my friends at Salt & Straw across the street but wasn't feeling ice cream, so I stopped in to this place to get something to soothe my throat. The cashier was nice enough and recommended the ginger tumeric matcha drink so I got it. He mentioned a few types of milk and I elected to go with oat milk. It was overpriced as hell but that's besides the point. I have a nut allergy, especially to cashews. And I have had oat milk PLENTY of times, I live in the hipster capital of San Francisco so how can I not. But two sips in to my drink, i started feeling the tell-tale signs of an allergic reaction. so i chucked it in to the trash and went back to the store to get a cup of water so i could take my benedryl before my throat closed up. I asked if there were nuts in the drink and he said no. But then he slowly backed up and said wait did you get oat milk because that is made with Cashews. In what planet is oat milk made with cashews... that's called cashew milk. They also said something about there being a lot of cross contamination. What ended up happening is that instead of enjoying my vacation in LA and taking in venice beach, this place got me extremely sick, made me go back inside and sit in pain for the full day and VOILENTLY PUKE. But thank god that's all that happened - if I were someone with worse allergies or didn't have medicine on hand, I could have been put in the hospital. Now you may be thinking - shouldn't I have asked about nuts? I agree - maybe I should have. But I have had oat milk so many times, so why would I? As an analogy, do you think that if I buy an apple I should ask if it has nuts in it? After the people behind the counter found out i was having an allergic reaction, they asked if i'd be ok, i told them eventually. They offered a free drink card, and I said no.. I'm not from the area and why would I ever go back? They insisted and I said no again, and then kept saying to take it and give it to a friend. I've tried so many matcha drinks so I was very excited to try this place based on the reviews and the hype. Unfortunately, the iced matcha latte with dairy milk I ordered tasted like regular milk with green food coloring. I was pretty disappointed because the name of this spot is Cha Cha MATCHA but when the barista gave me the drink it was a very light green color and when I tried it, there was only barely a HINT of matcha in it. I added Splenda to see if it would be more tasteful and it helped only a little... So in the end, I had what tasted like dairy milk and Splenda. The ambience is very cute with the bright pink and green wallpaper and decorations but I would not order the matcha latte again... I would probably try their matcha ice cream next time but other than that, I wouldn't come back for the latte. read more

I'm a real big fan of the NYC locations and was a bit skeptical of the LA location being as good, but it most certainly lived up to the hype and taste. There's a parking lot right behind the location, which makes coming here pretty convenient. This location has a great vibe and super friendly staff. They answered all my questions about some of the newer items and even gave my mom a sample! The matcha itself is really delicious. It doesn't clump on the bottom like a lot of other cafes that serve matcha. If you're looking for something traditional or something more fun (CBD drinks), they have something for you on the menu. read more

YUMMY! I usually order the purple drink with matcha and macadamia milk! It's so flavorful and not too sweet. I like the macadamia milk substitution that I was recommended. It can get pricy as this drink is over $8 but it's because of the milk and matcha add ons. I also appreciate them having plant based straws. Much better than paper straws that some places carry since this is sturdier. As much as I love matcha, next time I might get it without to save some money. Staff is friendly and informative and I trust their recommendations especially if it's your first time. I've been here twice but have always gotten their purple drink.
