The place has been a staple in the community. They are known for the birra. The tacos de birria is braised to perfection. The quesabirria tacos never disappointed and I recommend. The staff and service is always friendly.

Molcajete Yucatan and Birria are the best in LA. Amazing service and authentic Mexican food and vibes.

Machaca meal with rice and beans

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lives around the corner from this place. She said its a staple in the community and alot of people love to come here. She sold me when she said they have some of the best hand made corn tortillas. I said let me go try it out. walking in to the restaurant I gives off that traditional mexican restaurant vibe. You know the food is going to be good! There really isn't anyone really in the front welcoming and you kinda have to stand around until one of the servers notices you and seats you. Not a big deal for me but if its someones first time coming here can be a bit confused on what to do next or where to sit. But once we got sat the lady that helped us out was super nice and took our drink order pretty quickly. My mom ordered the Machaca (shredded beef with bell peppers and onions) meal with beans and rice. Her meal came with two large handmade corn tortillas. They were cooked perfectly and so good. I ordered the beef taquitos and it came with rice and beans as well. I was a little underwhelmed with my meal. The taquitos could have been fried a little longer and the beef inside had little to no flavor. I had to drench them in salsa to get any flavor to them. The rice and beans tho were really good. A little side note about the location, there were a few homeless people that were hanging out infront of the store and the ladies at one point locked the front door so they wouldnt enter the restaurant. I know that its not the restaurants fault for them being there but just something to be aware of when going.

Took my grandparents there when it wasn't busy so service was nice and the food was delicious!! Even my grandparents who were visiting from Mexico said the caldo de res was amazing. I got the menu and my mom got a carne asada plate; definitely wanna come back to try more food but not when it's busy and packed. We had a good time.

Still my favorite local Mexican food spot! Came on a Saturday and got the menudo and chorizo and huevos breakfast.

Last week I was here ordered a pozole, I was served a big plate, today I returned a week after and I ordered the same but instead I was served a small plate, so I asked the served what was different she said there was only one size, and I question why they served a small plate for the same price, never the less she blame the cook. The point is that this is a rip off, why give a small portion if your going to charge the same....Bait & Switch its called, very disappointed of this ace as im a regular customer, perhaps I should take my business elsewhere. Management should improve, it need a lot to learn on how to maintain customers and not loose them. This should grant 0 stars, honestly

0 estrellas!!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

Located between Koreatown and Pico-Union, this restaurant delivers an outstanding dining experience from the moment you're seated. My wife and I both ordered the Mole Coloradito with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. One detail we really appreciated was being able to choose between white meat or dark meat--a thoughtful touch that lets you customize your meal to your preference. The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. It was so good we found ourselves dipping everything into it. Both meals were served with rice that was perfectly cooked with a great consistency and flavor. For those feeling adventurous, give the Chapulines (grasshoppers) a try. They may sound intimidating, but they were surprisingly enjoyable and added to the authentic experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and patient with those of us who are not fluent in Spanish. Their hospitality made us feel comfortable and welcomed throughout our visit. Great food, authentic flavors, and wonderful service make Guelaguetza a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to. Highly recommended!

As soon as you walk up the stairwell you'll be transported into this super cute place with an outdoor-indoor feel, almost like an elegant treehouse. We were seated on the second level which provided a Birds Eye view of the restaurant. We ordered a few items to share: Cameron ceviche, flautas and for our sweet tooth, French toast paired with a mango sorbet surprise with a candle for our birthdays (tip: we drizzled the melted sorbet on our French toast and took small scoops with each bite - game changer!). Everything was so delicious! We also ordered mocktails, a miche-nada for him and a lemony drink for me. This experience wouldn't have been as great without the exceptional service we had. Our waters were always refilled without asking, our tables were cleaned with every dish, honestly top-notch service! My only real bummer was discovering they took the vegan ceviche off the menu--that was actually the whole reason I came back! I'm sure they have their reasons, but I was pretty disheartened to see it go. Overall, the menu doesn't have a ton of vegan items, but they do have some room for adjustments if you ask. Despite the menu change, the incredible atmosphere and unique menu still make it a must-try.

They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.
