I was in the area and starving, and since my usual poke place was closed for the day, I started searching on Yelp. Lo and behold, I came across Chaodown Poki, which came highly recommended, so I decided to try them out. For starters, the service was excellent. The young man making my bowl was very polite. I told him this was my first time coming here and he made helpful recommendations about the sauces, which I asked about, as I wanted to know which one of their sauces were comparable to the ones I get from my local poke place. The portions are generous and well worth the price! I ordered the x-large for $20.50, which comes with 5 scoops of protein. For my protein, I got tuna, salmon, scallops, yellowtail, and shrimp--all were unmarinated. I loaded the rest of my bowl up with mostly all the veggies and toppings, and I must say that I really liked their variety of toppings. I finished my bowl off with their sweet unagi and Chaodown sauces; they are sweet sauces, which I like. I also got avocado, which was an extra $2.25, but totally worth it because the portion of avocado they give you is huge. Some may see poke bowls as pricy but I see them as well worth the cost for fresh sushi grade meat! Also, the x-large bowl can easily feed two people, although my fatty self devoured it singlehandedly. The bowl easily weighed 2 lbs when the young man handed it to me. Overall, it was good, but not my favorite poke bowl. I asked about a sauce while ordering, but the employee didn't know the ingredients, so I ended up picking random ones. I like when there's a clear list of sauce ingredients. They have a great selection of sides, and I appreciate that they let you get all the options you want, unlike some places that limit you. The seaweed salad was good and not overly sweet. The sweet pickles were a nice touch too--I'd never had them before. I do wish they offered white onion. For protein, I went with spicy tuna, scallops, and their Chaodown mix, and topped it off with all the works. Everything was super fresh, especially the fish. The flavor and texture mix was on point. Also grabbed a side of fries, which were solid and added a nice crunch. The whole experience reminded me of a seafood-focused Chipotle--highly customizable, with tons of topping options, but understandably a little more pricey due to the fresh seafood and premium ingredients. That said, it's worth it if you're looking for a clean, high-protein meal that still hits the spot. The service was great, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Was really excited to try this place out as I love poke! My fiancé and I ordered takeout since we're in the middle of moving into a new home. Unfortunately, they didn't give me the correct order. They left out ingredients that I had asked for like the green onions and chili flakes. I didn't have the opportunity to go back since we're busy moving. OH MY GoooooooDNESS!!!!! A friend of mine suggested we meet here for lunch last week after she discovered this gem place that is now her favorite and mine as well! The portions are very generous, the ingredients fresh and healthy, the service comes with a friendly smile and conversation and the place is overall clean and presentable. The taste buds were dancing with joy and delight with each and every bite! I love Love LOVE all the healthy choices and all of the ample selections! We dined at one of the tables and enjoyed our meal to the fullest wanting more! Tried Chaodown Poki today for the first time and it was great! I'm allergic to sesame oil so it's very hard to find protein for poke that is not pre marinated in sesame oil. I explained my allergy and everyone that worked there was so helpful and walked me through all the ingredients I could have. Great portions and overall fish quality however their staff needs to do better. Dirty countertops, on which some of the salad I was getting fell and the employee proceeded to pick them up and put them in my bowl. Umm, no thanks. She also was using gloves, in which I saw her pick up the iPad along with other couple of other things, to push down the food in my bowl ... honestly gross. I love the food but that's unsanitary and not safe. Also, after all that, I ended up getting my bowl and it was sticky , with sauce all over . I read all the great reviews on yelp and wanted to give this place a try. I'm pretty upset that it was so expensive and definitely not worth it. I got the regular bowl which is supposed to be $15.50 and I got an extra scoop of protein. I was informed is gonna be extra. I agreed and said okay but wasn't told how much it was going to be. When I got to the register, my total was $21 and some change. Absolutely outrageous to charge an additional five dollars for one measly scoop of protein. So when we found this spot that is half the price and still has the same tastes and smells then we were hooked. Ate it too fast. Didn't get to take a picture. Vegetarians can order a tofu bowl with two or three scoops of tofu on white, brown, spring mix, wonton chips or 1/2 and 1/2. You can choose as many sauces and toppings as you like and the prices is super reasonable. Lots of drink and dessert choices too. And they also have sides like wontons and egg rolls. What a joke this Poke place. The worst bowl of Poke I've wasted my money on. Let's start with the main event. The rice dry and hard day old,the fish bad knife cuts like my dog had a knife the results were bad. The jalapeno so thick I had to finish the work the cooks couldn't. Man can you cut them any thicker. The fish had no flavor the hide the quality with some crap sauce. My bowl had so much sauce that's all I could taste spicy bottled sauce. What a joke. Over prices poor quality total rip off. I won't be going back. You should skip this place and make it yourself. I suggest closing this place and opening a trash dump. read more

Great poke place. The staff member who helped us was very nice and patient while I asked what was in the sauces and he let me try a sample of the wasabi cream sauce. It was amazing! He was generous with the scoops of fish and all the toppings. We were super hungry after a day of volleyball, so we also got fries and shrimp tempura. They were unnecessary and nothing special, tbh. This place was is pretty good, and I liked that they had a sign that required masks to enter. We came here on a Friday evening and they seamed to have a good line, so lots of people enjoy it obviously. A normal poke place, you choose your protein, your rice , and add-ons. I actually got the spicy chicken dish, which was good. They fried it fresh, so I appreciated that. I also greatly appreciated the 10% discount. It was a decent lunch. Omg who thought finding a great Poke place is so hard in California....everytime I try 4.5 star poke place in Sacto area, it just doesn't satisfy me enough. I know I know I am spoiled. I was full....full with rice and all the toppings.....not the fish. 3 tiny scoops is called large seems to be the norm in this area. The fish was not bad...I just wish they give you a little more than tiny scoops. My large bowl was covered 2/3 with just toppings. The toppings are bit off...For examples, cucumbers were just straight up thick cut cucumbers....usually Poke places use thin sliced marinated cucumbers. They even had shredded carrots....yea I have not seen that one yet anywhere else. Takuwan was way too sweet as well. The fish tasted like it was going bad, the rice tasted day old and was slightly hard, the kimchi was funkier than any kimchi I've ever had and I've had a lot of kimchi, the cucumbers weren't fresh, the salad was bad. Today we visited Chaodown Poki and the food was just great! Seafood hold on the right temperature and fresh what is super important. The other items on line looked good as well. Why 3 stars? 1. The bad smell at the store, did not even want to stay to enjoy our lunch over there. In common the store looks dirty and the way too old. 2. Customer service. I swear it was the worst customer service I ever experienced. The guy was so grumpy, he did not have any hair net, did not wash his hands before taking our order and when he started he only was wearing 1 glove and he actually touched my food with his hands while holding the bowl. Disgusting.... Of course I asked him to get the second glove. In addition to this, he was messing the information about our food, he did not understand what do we need and made us feel dumb because HE did not get what are we ordering. All the time of making our order he was so grumpy, not even single smile or attempt to show us that we are welcome here. Still one of our favorite poke places in town. They really pack the bowl! They have a cook salmon option, which they cook it on the spot. Plenty of sauce options...I like the spicy mayo and unagi sauce. All of their toppings are fresh and delicious...crab salad, corn, carrots, broccoli, edamame, egg, etc. The staff even checked on the dry toppings and if we had any allergies...definitely appreciate it. Return review. So this time I went with poke on a salad base since My Hunger (the Deamon who controls us All) has been a bit on the back shelf since the passing of both my parents this year. I had salmon, octorpus salad*, edamame, pickled daikon radish, hard boiled egg, cuke slices, scallion snips, broccoli flowerettes, spicy mayo, chili oil, sesame seeds, and chrispy onion bits. NOM NOM! Chow down @ Chao Down indeed. Oh, I had just bought my Dutchies Iced Mocha and they were kind enough to let me bring it in to drink in the shop. Normally, I buy one of their drinks since they have an excellent selection of carbonated sodas and unsweetened seltzers. They also have canned green tea (YUM & iced coffee, I had forgotten) * (no idea what is in their octo salad mix though, sigh, as the guy serving didn't know either; next time, will bring home to eval, cuz I have A NOSE & THOSE tase buds!)
