My friend and I went into the Charleston on December 10th, 2022. We were there for a good portion of the night spending almost $200. My friend altered me that every time I would get up to go to the bathroom she would receive a random airdrop. After the third attempt she opened it. It was two d*ck pics from an anonymous person at the bar with an icloud email attached saying "text me." The person that sent the pictures was a black man. There were only three black guys in the bar including myself, two of which were the bouncers. One of the bouncers (bouncer #1) was two people down from us talking to two women at the bar for the last 30 minutes. The other bouncer (bouncer #2) was on his phone in the corner by the door. I immediately went up to bouncer #2 and asked if he was sending my friend airdrops. He responded no and I went back to the bar and alerted the bar back that responded and said "those things happen." and one of the female bartenders responded "that couldn't be him, he would never do anything like that." 20 Minutes later the bouncer #2 came over and said "someone is sending me pics now." We were extremely hesitant to believe him because we suspected that it was him sending the pictures. I told him "let's find the guy pull out your phone." He hesitated and argued a bit then pulled out his phone. Immediately the contact that was airdropping the pictures popped up on my airdrop and I tried to send them a message and it popped up on the bouncers phone to "receive it." I stood up and went to the other end of the bar to tell bouncer #1 that it was in fact bouncer #2 at the door that was sending the pictures. Bouncer #1 shrugged his shoulders seemingly unsure about what to do when I was accusing his coworker of something like this. As I was telling him this Bouncer #2 came up and yelled at me "it was him sending the pictures. man you have to leave. get out." Bouncer #2 told me to collect my things and leave before he had to get physical. As we were leaving my friend was told by another women at the bar that she received the same airdrop. The only person in the entire establishment to try and do something was the bartender that was just starting his shift. He asked her to write down her name and number so he could make this right. We left before she could give him her information. When we got outside the female bartender tried to mediate the situation along with another man that I assumed worked at the Charleston as well. We told them to get the bouncer and have him pull out his phone so we can show you the airdrop or we can text the icloud account and see if he receives a text message. They declined and the gentlemen said "we will handle this internally, please leave." I sent a message to the bar that same night via their website with no contact from them at all. This is incredible disheartening that a bar would allow a bouncer to have this behavior. Someone that is supposed to protect the staff and bar patrons but instead is s*xually h*rassing them. This bar is situated in the rapidly gentrifying section of Williamsburg Brooklyn. It's located right across the street from the L train station on Bedford avenue. The neighborhood has been revitalized with the addition of trendy new shops and cultural tourism. The bar traces its history to the prohibition era of the 1930's. This makes for an interesting clientele. You have the old school dive bar veterans drinking alongside millennial transplants. I showed up around 8pm on Saturday and there were just a few regulars seated at the bar. I ordered a Blue Moon Belgian White and received a ticket for a free slice of pizza. The small pizza pie has a very thin crust and can be shared among a small group of people. The back of the bar has two Skee-Ball machines along with a Big Buck Wild arcade. They cost just $1 a round to play. The bar started filling up after 10pm. Groups of young visitors started pouring in and it became standing room only. The atmosphere was very fratty so I made my way outside to the front porch of the bar. I made good conversation with a few locals as we reminisced about the good old days. This is a traditional dive bar that's been open since 1933. They've recently undergone a renovation where they upgraded the interior as well as their food and drinks menu. It's located in the trendy Williamsburg section of Brooklyn across the street from the Lorimer subway station. The clientele was mostly comprised of millennials enjoying the height. They have a skeeball machine in the back as well a Big Buck hunting arcade cabinet. They have a full bar featuring all sorts of beer and liquor. I ordered a few shots of Jameson which came with a free pizza. The outdoor seating area is a great place to catch a fresh breeze and people watch. By the way, don't people understand that one of the things that makes a dive is that very few people know about it? If it's on Yelp, it's probably not a dive. I mean, a dive is a place where you dive in. Usually alone. You and your drink, and the hard luck story at the other end of the empty bar. When you hit your number, you buy a round for the house. The place was really cool, but the pizza dude was an idiot and ruined our time here. Saying something about a tip before we even got our pizza. In the back theres some skeetball which is old school and a nice touch. Lots of soccer fans by the way, so dont go in there on a crowded weekend afternoon, you might get trampeled.
