I absolutely hate giving 1 star reviews. Even more, I hate getting on Yelp and reading about horrible customer experiences. However, you need to hear my story before you consider going to this restaurant. We arrived on a Saturday afteroon around 1pm; we were told there would be a half hour wait. No big deal, this is to be expected during a busy period. In fact, I would have been ok with a 45 minute wait to be seated (due to this period of the day being busy, I normally would not wait that long). Once we were seated our server was very friendly and professional; our drinks came back within a few minutes. Next, we ordered our appetizers and about 20 minutes later they came out (at this point I started to wonder if something was up; 20 minutes for appetizers???). Upon receiving the appetizers we ordered our meals, and this is where things took a major turn for the worse. About 20 minutes later I touched based with our server, she said the ticket has been placed with the cook and it shouldn't be much longer. 20 minutes after that I checked with the server again, it was during this time that she informed me the kitchen was "really backed up" and it was going to be a little longer. I started looking around the restaurant and realized that none of the tables in our immediate area had received their food either. I started zeroing in on the conversations at the other tables; everyone was complaining about the slow service. 20 minutes later (no joke, we had been seated for an hour and still hadn't recieved our meals) I let the waitress know that if we didn't get our food soon we would have to leave; we had plans for after lunch. I was very polite (but stern) with our waitress, you could tell that she was nervous, but she was still very apologetic and professional about the whole situation. I thought it was odd that there was no manager walking the restaurant, greeting guests and explaining the situation. There is no worse feeling than waiting around for your food, having no idea when you are going to receive it and wondering why there is such a long delay. In hindsight, I would have felt infinitely better about the situation had the manager greeted us, apologized for the delay, and explained the situation. Finally, about 70 minutes after intially being seated, we recieved our meals. Again, our server maintained her professionalism throughout the entire experience; I can't fault her directly for what happened. I actually felt bad for her, because the other tables in our area were really getting upset and agressive toward her, but she handled it like a champ. The food was ok, but not worth the 70 minute wait. So in summation: I waited over an hour for my meal after being seated (along with all of the other tables in my section), the food was average, and the manager was non-existant during the entire debacle. Ok food for a chain. I had the chicken tenders which came with a generous side. It was enough for 2 meals so I got a box and had lunch for the next day. I will say their unsweet ice tea was delicious and a perfect no calorie addition to my meal. Our server Ellie was very nice and was not like the servers referred to in other reviews. read more

The only good thing about this visit to Cheddars is the fact that we came here at noon on Sunday with a party of 7 and was immediately shown to our seats. Service was quick at first but went downhill from there. I sat through an appetizer without a drink. The waitress refilled everyone else and never checked back. My sister's order came out wrong, sent it back, we were almost done when she got her food. My neice's chicken coated in a batter that was way salty. We had to continually ask for things missing from our order. Overall not a good experience this time around and I wonder why I ever liked this place the first time. read more

We where seated at a table of nine. Ordered onion rings brought out quickly, then went down hill from there. Mixed up on orders for young kids ordered grilled cheese sandwiches they brought out chicken stripes. So of course we had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes for all the food. Which took about half hour longer. Really shouldn't make a diabetic wait for food when blood sugars r low. Need to train staff to a least stop by your table more than a couple times. I really like cheddars I will return but I guess I won't take my shots till I get my food. read more

Called a head to get a table for 15 for an engagement party, got there and they gave us 3 BOOTHS. So we brushed it off, it was 8 on a Saturday night so made the best of it. Ordered our food and my husband didn't get what he ordered. Not wanting to make a big deal he told the server he would just eat it, he didn't want to hold everyone else up waiting on the food he actually ordered. Told the server up front it was on 3 separate bills and gave him the breakdown. When he brought the bill it was all on 1, which then took longer because they had to go back and break it all down. Once he came back with the bills, my husband realized he was charged for the meal he ACTUALLY ordered which was more expensive than what they brought. The manager came over and asked "what do you want us to do?" My husband said "I'm not paying for a more expensive dinner that I ordered and you gave me a cheaper one, at least charge me for what I ate". She said "OK" and walked away like she was mad. One of the other bills had salads on there that the people didn't order, plus another issue because they had to have their bill corrected TWICE. I can't speak for others but I ordered water before we even ordered our meals. I was never even offered a refill, had to eat most of my meal with nothing to drink. I've been craving Cheddar's for almost two years now! I used to live in Springfield, Illinois and would go to the Cheddar's there at least once a week. I moved to Avon a few months ago and saw the Cheddar's and couldn't wait to come by! My boyfriend and I finally made it here, and everything exceeded what I wanted. The food was phenomenal. The service was quick, friendly, and informative. Karrie was our server, and she was more than willing to do whatever she could to make us have an enjoyable time. We've been looking for a place to make "ours" and we both decided Cheddar's in Avon it was. Food is good. We liked the chicken fingers, baked spagansa, and sweet heat chicken and shrimp. For the quality of food you get at this price I can't imagine a much better deal. The servers have always been friendly, but my goodness the service at this location is SLOW. We cannot get in and out in any situation in under 75-90 minutes. Drinks will go empty before you are asked about a refill and we have more than once waited more than 45 minutes after ordering. However, for the price I would not expect the same service as a fine dining experience. Would definitely give it a shot if you are looking for a well priced family dinner. read more

Im a big fan of cheddars. I have been to the greenwood location multiple times and have given them good rating as well. We moved to this side of the town and we were happy that cheddars is close by. One night we went in there to have dinner. It was a quit weekday night they were closing in another hour. The food was good everything was same as the other location. But the service was not up to the mark. Servers were busy doing their closing job and wasn't paying much attention to our table. May be this was a one off night. I will definitely visit again. I went to Cheddars Saturday 08/25/12 with my 10 year old son, friend, and her three children 10,11 and 3 months old. to start with we were sat down at a dirty table, then we waited 40min for our food and then when it was brought out the food was all cold!!!! I asked to speak with the manager David. the manager said he would fix it and make us all new food that was hot. We continued to wait another 40 min at that point the children said their is a bug on the back seat of the booth we were sitting at. I made the kids get up and I grabbed a napkin and got the bug when I looked to see what kind of bug it was, IT WAS A ROACH!!!!!!!! THE ROACH WAS WRIGHT BEHIND MY 10 YEAR OLD SON ABOUT TO CRAWL ON MY 10 YEAR OLD SON'S BACK!!! Just got back from Cheddar's. First time there.We ordered onion rings waited and waited and had to ask where they were. Next no silver ware and no napkins. Had to ask for napkins and silverware. Waited for silver ware for 3 minutes. By this time the meal was there and it was getting cold.. Coffee was cold last cup was hot. whoopee The southern green beans was horrible. No seasoning at all. they need to get a southerner in there to fix their green beans. My husband and I shared a plate was enough for both. Highly unimpressed. Sat for about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. Ordered the ribeye with a baked sweet potato and salad, my wife ordered salmon with soup as one of her sides. My salad came out pretty quick, but my wife had to ask for her soup to have it before her meal. Of course, she got the soup and then the meal was delivered about 3 minutes after. Cheddars is obviously a chain. Normally you will get quite a bit of food for the money. This one is no different. The best bargain in appetizers is the onion ring platter. They must be sweet Vidalia. They are so mouth watering and tasty. They are cut battered and made to order every day. This night I chose a lighter meal of grilled shrimp and chicken. It was accompanied by broccoli casserole, rice, and mac n cheese The dish came with a sweet and somewhat tangy sauce for the grilled fellas. The chicken and shrimp were plated on an appropriate bed on rice mixed with dice onions. We sat in the bar since it was a very busy Saturday night That worked out well it is march and the conference tourneys are in full swing. There are also plenty of fish swimming in what must be a 250 gallon tank behind the bar. On this night our waitress was a little distracted by the crowd but still managed to get the entree out in reasonable. All in all it was well worth the visit. read more

This place wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. The pricing was a bit high for what you get. The burgers were priced similarly to other chains (i.e. Applebee's, Chili's, etc.) but they don't include fries. If you want fries with your meal you need to shell out an addition $2.09. This seemed odd to me since every other restaurant on earth includes fries with the price of their burgers. The burgers themselves weren't good enough on their own that I was satisfied having to spend extra to get fries. It would've been different if the burgers were fantastic, but they were just okay. Aside from the mediocre food, the restaurant itself was nice. It was clean with a good ambiance. The service staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, the place was worth trying once but I wasn't impressed enough to desire to go there often. I would rather go to a similar run-of-the-mill restaurant that abides by the old fashioned American tradition of always serving a side of fries with their burgers without charging you 30% more. My parents and I decided to try Cheddars since it is the new restaurant in town. It was the worst dining experience ever. It was really busy for a Wednesday night. They said our wait was 21-26 minutes but we ended up waiting close to 45 minutes. Our drinks were brought to us quickly. For three people, we waited 45 minutes for our food and never received our appetizer. The waitress never checked on us until after our food was delivered. She didn't ask if we wanted refills and she didn't ask how the food was. When we asked about our missing appetizer, she tried to give us a reason why we didn't receive it. We tried to ask to talk to a manager but a manager never came to our table. We were seriously disappointed. The food was delicious and filling but totally not worth the terrible service. If you want delicious food AND great service, drive 20 minutes away from Cheddars into Brownsburg and try Boulder Creek. read more

Called in a to-go order for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, they said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We got there in 20 minutes and they said go to the bar for to-go orders we stood there for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and the manager was one of the girls working behind the bar!! She made eye contact with us and continued to walk away and talk to other co workers. We finally said "excuse me" to the bartender working and she said let me check on that for you. Part of our to-go order was sitting behind the bar, we were missing two salads to go with our order. She said let me ask the manager to run back and grab those. The manager walked away and didn't return for almost 15 minutes we were 1 minute away from telling the bartender to forget the salads and then the manager comes, doesn't say a word and hands us the salads. She was rude and inconsiderate. We stood at the bar for 30 minutes waiting for our order that was supposed to be ready in "15 minutes". This place has terrible service and tons of workers who have no work ethic. Our food was freezing by the time we ate it as well. I will not be back. read more

Perfect for a romantic evening with someone special because the lighting is dim and romantic and they have such nice decor including a giant fish tank and an amazing ceiling fan that belongs in a luxury palace. Have been there twice in the past month. First time there were issues with the meal. We sent the plate back. Sometime later the manager came with a plate, said "Here you go, " and walked away. The food was cold, which made it seem like they just have us the same plate. Needless to say, we didn't eat it. Another manager came by to clear the table, and asked how our meal was. We explained our experience. He apologized and took care of the meal. Last night we had family in town and decided to give it another shot. Apparently they were out of sweet tea, but had unsweetened tea (yea, who'd thought to add sugar when brewing). Ten minutes later or appetizer cane, still waiting for drinks... We finished our appetizer, then the drinks came. The food came out okay except we asked for another plate because we were sharing food with our daughter. We waited awhile and then finally went looking for a plate. We never spoke to another person until after while we were eating. After we finished eating, we waited about 20 minutes to get our bill. After it didn't come I went to the bar to find someone to print or bill. No customers at the bar other than me mind you. The bartender fixed a couple of drinks for servers then walked past to go somewhere. Finally I walked up to the hostess to ask for someone to print the bill. The manager was very nice and apologetic and covered the meal. We like the restaurant, but will not be going again soon unfortunately. read more

This is my first Yelp review, but I had to document our terrible Labor Day experience. We were a party of seven seated immediately at a long table. So far, so good. Fountain drinks and water orders were taken quickly and we placed our appetizer and meal orders almost immediately. Then the wait began. We saw multiple other tables seated around us and get their apps and soups and salads before us. Our waitress was nowhere to be found to even inquire about the delay. After 40 minutes, she comes and drops off the apps without any offer of apology for the wait. As soon as she turns away, other people bring out our meals. We did not see her again until she asked how we wanted our checks. We asked for to go boxes and told her how it was to be split. She came back with wrong food on the two checks, overcharged for two things and only one box. We showed her the errors and asked her to correct them. She took our cards. When she brought them back we noticed she had not corrected the tickets and put the wrong amounts on the two cards. She never apologized and said she'd just fix it when she got back to the computer and we could just go ahead and go and not wait. I explained that we would not leave without a corrected proof of receipt and the other to go box. She got frustrated, sighed loudly and disappeared for quite some time. She brought back a bill to sign with the right amount but no proof the other charge had been voided. At that point we just signed our two slips and walked out. This was such a bad ending to a great Labor Day spent with friends. We will not be back. read more

Our food came in shifts also..Server seemed flustered & thought she might have have too many tables..Anytime we would ask for something, it was like 20 min before she brought it. They were also out of draft beer tonight.."Mgr" came by to deliver us something & just dropped it & ran..never asked how things were. If you want to spend all evening for dinner, this is the place to go. We waited 45 min. for a table. We got our first set of drinks and appetizer fairly quickly, but when we needed more to drink, we had a long wait for refills. My husband ordered a beer, but didn't get it until after asking for it a 2nd time. When our food finally arrived, most of it was fine, but I had ordered a vegetable plate that they must have fixed long before the rest of our orders because it was cold, cold, cold. The rest of the food was hot. The waitress finally asked if things were fine then got us a manager. I did get a hot plate of food, but for the time we spent it wasn't anything special. Seriously... Food was good, fairly priced. Our service was HORRIBLE! Charles must of had other things going on. Forgot our chips and salsa, didn't bring water refills, forgot the mashed potatoes, and drinks took 10 minutes-Each! Drinks were also terrible. My husband had been wanting to go herefor awhile so we tried it. Let me premise by saying I'm not an overly picky person, just expect to get what is paided for. I ordered beer battered shrimp dinner and they did not de-vein the shrimp before cooking, yuck. My co-workers and I go out to lunch for our lunch HOUR. We enjoy Cheddars and include in our rotation of places we go, several times a month. We were seated immediately. We placed our orders quickly. Tables around us all begin getting food - even ones that had ordered long after us. Apologies were made my several wait staff that they knew our order was taking a long time. One of my co-workers was a waiter for years and knew that a mistake had likely been made on one of our 5 meals. We waited 45 minutes for our food. There were 5 of us. Only one meal was hot - grilled fish tacos. All meals were cold. It wasn't that they were lukewarm, they were stone cold. They were not even remotely warm to the touch. One of the girls had mashed potatoes and they were so cold they were congealing. I ordered the vegetable plate and the fries were like they had been sitting for over 30 minutes. The waiter asked how the food was. We said it was cold. He offered to bring new food. When you have one hour for lunch and it has already been over an hour that you have been away from the office, we did not want to wait another 45 minutes for food that may or may not be hot the second time around. We said we did not want new food, but were not happy with the state of the meals. He asked if we wanted the meals taken off our bills, we said yes to 2 vegetable plates. He said he would take care of it. About 10 minutes later, someone we assume was the manager, arrived with 2 vegetable plates stating "I heard some of you were not satisfied with your meals, so I brought new ones. We did not want them, told him so, and that we needed to get back to work. He was not friendly, not apologetic and seemed to be aggravated with us. The waiter brought the bills and apologized telling us the manager said he could not take the charges off because he wanted to "surprise" us with hot food. We got to the location around noon, got our bills at 1:19pm. By the time we got back to our office we had been gone nearly 2 hours. We did not have time to wait for hot food and did not request it. It was one of the worst meals I have had out in recent memory. The manager is apparently not looking to generate continued business. We won't be going back. We understand mistakes happen. We were a bit bothered that the food took a long time, more irritated when it was cold. However the behavior of the manager was inexcusable. Had we simply had the cost of 2 meals taken off, we would have left appeased. . read more
