Took the family out for dinner since it's new to the area. Wife has always enjoyed Cheddar's since we first tried them down in Texas. You will need to come early, as this place get busy and tends to have a long wait at times. Service is fine, just remember this place is new as is their workers. Food is always decent. I usually have their grilled chicken and pecan salad, never disappoints me. Son had the Monte Cristo, he enjoyed it. Daughter also had the grilled chicken and pecan salad, which she always enjoyed. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place. We happen to be in Goodyear and decided to stop in day after Thanksgiving. Swiss cheese is typically used. Monte Cristo sandwiches make me nostalgic for New Orleans Cafe in Disneyland and their incredible raspberry jam filled version. Cheddar's Scratch kitchen offers up a similar dish that drew us here like a moth to a flame. I am completely unfamiliar with the Cheddar's scratch kitchen chain and wish that I wasn't! I would've stopped in sooner to enjoy their lunch specials before 4pm that I plan to come back for. It has become a Valentines Day tradition to dine out at least a week before the actual holiday and I was very impressed with the menu as I find traditional American dishes to be my comfort food. To my amazement a homemade pot pie on the menu instantly filled me with gratification as I'm much acquainted with the frozen style entrees. To start the night right I chose their signature Cheddar's Painkiller a pineapple, orange juice concoction filled in a glass rimmed in a sweet toasted coconut. On the menu it says you're only allowed two per person but, it didn't seem any stronger than a normal cocktail and was refreshing. Ordering the New Orleans pasta seemed as natural as apple pie. It is a generous portion of sausage, shrimp and chicken melded together in a slightly spicy but, mostly flavorful Cajun sauce. We ended our night with the Hot Cake Fudge Sunday at only $6.99 this chocolatey decadent dessert is sure to please the entire family. Visited the Goodyear location on W.McDowell Rd.for lunch with a friend. She ordered the Bone-in Ribeye Steak w/house salad and I had Shrimp Alfredo w/Garlic bread. The waitress brought out the complimentary glazed croissants, they were warm and delicious. The then her house salad came out wink j was good sized so she shared it with me. The greens were fresh and crispy it disappeared quickly.Like clockwork our meals arrived, her steak was rather large and was cooked correctly med rare.My plate of Shrimp Alfredo was also good sized w/ med. sized shrimp.For drinks she had Bloody Mary and I ordered the Froz.Maui Margarita which comes with a shot of vodka. We were told there would be a 55 minute wait, however, we were seated within 20 minutes. The restaurant is very clean, has a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. Cheddar's prides itself on "made from scratch" comfort style food. Cheddar's offers a varied menu with many meal choices, at very reasonable prices. The menu has something to satisfy everyones taste. Our drinks were brought to the table immediately with a plate of complimentary hot honey buttered croissants, and the croissants were absolutely delicious. Our server took his time explaining the menu and even offered suggestions based on our preferences On this visit we all shared the Sorilon Steak, Baked Potato, Chicken Strips, Chicken Pot Pie, Monte Cristo Sandwich, Macaroni & Cheese, and Fries. Everything was fantastic and the portions are so large, we brought some food home. Most impressive was the service. This was just okay. It was fine for a chain, but not my favorite. I did like the onion ring appetizer. I got whitefish for my entree and I thought it was overly salty. However, our server was really nice and our food came out in a timely manner. Since this location is new, I would suggest showing up early for dinner. This was the second time trying to come here. First time we were a party of six and they told us almost a two hour wait! We said no thank you! This time it was five of us with an hour wait but the high tops at the bar are first come first serve and we were able to snatch one of those. Our service was super slow at first. I was curious about their drinks but waiter didn't know much about them so that wasn't good help. He also told us a whole rundown of things that sounded so rehearsed that we were all like woah! Jokingly we asked how long did it take for him to learn that. We were told they are known for their handmade chicken tenders. I was hungry but not that hungry. I asked if I could order from the kids menu and the waiters response was "it depends will you tip me good?" That was such a turnoff! Really chill atmosphere. We got in right away and got our items and from then on it was a rush with our waitress. I get that it was lunch but can we finish our meal before you give the check to us-we just got it! I felt like we were on a timer. The free rolls were very good-bummer if you want more that you have to pay. I ordered a salad and it came out after the Monte Cristo. So I barely ate the salad. The first couple of bits of the Monte Cristo were very good but soon it got to be to heavy for me. My man had a Patty melt that was about 1/3 of the bread it was brought on. We were never given any drink refills and the waitress just complained about working over 13 hours. My wife got her steak over cooked and the broccoli casserole was too salty. This coming from a person that drowns her food in soy sauce. The most amazing thing they have are those Honey butter croissants!!!!! Oh my goodness!!! Where have they been my whole life!! I am an out of State visitor to the Goodyear, Arizona area. My hosts tonight suggested a Cheddar takeout meal for all of us to try as an impromptu meal, change of pace, dinner option. Although I have a Cheddar's restaurant near where I live, but having never visited a Cheddar's restaurant before, preparing nearly all my own meals "from scratch" at home, I was somewhat apprehensive to try something new. I must share that I was more than impressed with the quality, cost, portion size and absolute great flavor of the meal I selected, a lightly battered, deep fried, white fish dinner! In my estimation, this dinner was one of the best....if not the best, take out experience I have ever enjoyed! Definitely, this meal would qualify as A FIVE STAR, thumbs up choice! Wanted to try Cheddar's forever. We watched it being built and couldn't wait to try it out. Fast forward a hundred years to today, which was our son's 16th birthday lunch. Get there and we were seated right away. Our server came out and took our drink orders and brought us some delicious honey butter croissants. She said it was their gift to us. We're so low maintenance people when we complain it's warranted. There were 4 of us. The steak, corn and mashed taters were basically a salt licks. The fries for the cheeseburger and the chicken strips and the monte cristo were no where near hot just this cool to touch ordeal and they fries were dry and funky. It was just a super sad experience especially since we looked forward to going for a bit now. It was very loud in there, we couldn't hear each other talk and even the server said she couldn't hear anything either. Pros: Seated right away at 3:00pm. Chicken strips were very good and the monte cristo was reminiscent of fried fair food. Felt like I was carrying around a fried snickers on a moderately cool afternoon on the way to see the pigs race. Our server did give us a free order of croissants for our sons 16th bday dessert. Cons: Tumbleweeds, cold food, concert like noise level, and the place was pretty trashed inside (Food on the floor, tables not cleared just a whak ambiance.) Overall it was a total bummer, we didn't even finish our steak and sides or the fries which was best part of the meal for a 16 yr old kid. It was no bueno. It was almost 10:00 and they were still busy but we got seated almost right away. The waitress was super friendly. The croissants were delicious. We got chips and queso, also great. My strawberry lemonade felt like a lemonade with a couple of strawberries inside which was fine by me because I love lemonade. I got steak and ribs with fries and coleslaw. Steak was great, fries were fine but the slaw was uneventful. The ribs were WAY over cooked. The bottom of the rack was practically charred. My wife got steak and shrimp with fries and mac and cheese. The latter was uneventful just like the slaw but the rest was good. Overall we enjoyed our visit. I'll stay clear of the ribs from now on but we'll probably add Cheddar's to our rotation. read more

Nice new location in Goodyear, first time at a Cheddars. We had a twenty minute wait. Lunch with Wife and friend, we were very happy. They start with complimentary cheesy croissants and we devoured before I could get a pic. I had the cheddar broccoli soup (of course) and they tried the potato bacon soup. Wow, delish! Then the Monte Cristo was very good, tried a bite of the meatloaf (getting next time) it was so tasty! There are good staples on the menu, wine, beer & cocktails too. My first ever experience here was nothing short of wonderful. I was greeted and sat at the door by the manager Kaitlyn. Super friendly, got us a free app for our first visit. Service was okay but I came back from that first WOW Kaitlyn did for us. There's plenty of places to go eat around Goodyear. I happen to come back a second time months later and this time I'm met at the door by the other manager named Stephanie. She didn't smile, asked how many and tried seating us at a dirty table. Rolled her eyes when I said there was literal food on the table and moved us to another table and just threw the menus on the table. Your managers should definitely be role models for the rest of the staff and should set a good impression. I recently went back to learn Kaitlyn had been let go. Really sad for this place. The food is very MID, the service slow. But when you have a manager as caring and friendly as Kaitlyn it's crazy to think someone like her could be let go over less than impressionable "Stephanie". My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant in a positive and happy mood, but that was quickly taken away when we met our server... she greeted us by slamming biscuits on our table and rushing us through our orders. We had barely sat down and didn't see the menu, so we quickly ordered for her and ended up getting dishes we didn't want. She had a bad tone of voice and a poor attitude, she made me scared to ask her for anything. I felt so rushed, frantic, and unsettled during this experience. The whole time I had a bad feeling in my stomach from her and lost my appetite. I kept telling my boyfriend how this has literally never happened to me at any restaurant, but I guess it's bound to occur at some point. In addition, my boyfriend said the men's bathroom had pee on the floor that made his shoes sticky, and something that could have been poop or food on the floor. His chicken sandwich came out cold and undercooked, and the server did not react well to that information when we kindly told her. We have come here before once and had a wonderful time, at that visit our server was sweet and let us take our time looking at the menu & ordering. And as far as food quality per dollar - I'm not sure that anything can beat the Cheddar Scratch Kitchen. From beginning to end the food is to die for. The honey croissants - mmmmm good. The main meals - so good. Tried a couple of them and they are all fantastic. Service was outstanding. Our server was a true pro. Super friendly, yet professional. Kept us fully stocked with drinks and anything we needed. Top 10% at least. Decor is also nice. I really like the feel of this place. It matches the scratch kitchen theme. It's comfortable but also stylish. Not highbrow or pretentious, but oh so comfy and pleasant. Then, when you get the bill you're shocked. Shocked that they can offer such a good experience and such good food in such a great place for so little money. They are the value champion. I LOVE this place. Stopped by Cheddar's today never been there before. Had two bloody Mary's, cheddar cheese fries and onion rings. Bloody Mary's were excellent, fries were over cooked, actually scraped my lips because they were to crispy, onion rings are cut very thin with less onion and to much breading, although the rings are tasty, because they are small and thin they are to greasy. I think by adding a thicker onion to the rings it would enhance the taste and add to flavor. The cheese fries, well either add a cheese sauce or a Chile to the mix would help with it being less crispy and more pleasing to eating without being hard. Food is 3 stars, they have a limited menu and the taste is mediocre. Service is a 2 yeah she served us, I think they need more training and more experienced servers. My big problem was that she kept forgetting to give us things. You ask her for the items and she goes and helps every other table, taking orders while we are waiting for one single item to eat our meal. She would come back and ask if there was anything that we needed, I am like yeah what we asked for. My wife ended up not eating her meal because the server did this to many times. I noticed that she had a terrible workflow with other patrons also, I just don't know how this is acceptable and I can't be the only one experiencing this. We finally made it to cheddars for dinner. I Drive by this place 3-4 times a week and my wife drives by it 12 times a week. We have had some friends try it back when it opened and said it was okay. 20 min wait. Not bad considering it's dinner the day after Christmas. Walked in and the location looks nice. The build out was done well. Service- it started out well. Then it took 11 mins to get refills and that was only cause my wife had to get the server. I give the young lady some credit as she did have a 12 top party sit next to us. Food- potato soup sounded good until the "Bacon" turned out to be salad bacon bit put on top of the soup. REALLY!!! Flipping sad. My Tilapia and 3 shrimp "puke" so much garlic sauce that's all you taste. So after scraping the sauce off my food to try and taste some sea food flavor I understood the sauce!!! Shrimp so over cooked we could have played table hockey with them.. The fish well it didn't taste like Tilapia at all. Was super disappointed! The 2 sides I had, Coleslaw and mash potatoes. Coleslaw was very good. Potatoes were good but the gravy was more like a breakfast chicken fried steak gravy. Kind of ruined the potatoes. My wife had the Ribs.. the ribs were good. Actually if I was forced to eat here again I would only get that. Had to order Cheesecake just to get the ass flavor garlic sauce taste out of my mouth.. The hot buttery croissants with honey were amazing. We both ordered fish dishes with two sides. My husband did not receive his salad. The server did not know or check in. The servers really nice but the service was just okay. I ordered the lemon pepper white fish. It was a little bland so I asked for additional lemons . My husband had the salmon with a miso sauce on the side and two sides of veggies. It was delicious. I would recommend the servers check in on there tables a little more. The food was good.
