It was fairly quick to receive our order and it was warm and fluffy! It smelled delicious and I was super excited to try it, and it didn't disappoint. It's not the best could use more flavor in comparisons to uncle testsu but it hit the spot and was a great tiny place to run into. It's in the bottom of the mall next to the kids playground (can be kind of confusing to find if you've never been so look for the kids jungle gym or ask) and it's simple a corner kitchen and a place to order. I was originally going to give this place a 2 stars but after finding out today was their soft opening I reconsidered and give them 3 stars instead. Since they weren't officially open yet I can't rate them properly but here is my take. After leaving the food court on the 3rd floor I wanted some dessert and wondering around a bit I decided on Cheesetella. I've been to the Koreatown plaza several times and always wanted to try them then saw Cheesetella here and thought I'll give it a shot. I got their original only because their cheese version was out and it was a 20 minute wait. I got it right away but I had to wait a bit for my condensed milk coffee. Taking the first bite it was ok, the crust was soft while the middle was dry. My dad is a baker and also bakes sponge cakes so I'm quite familiar with them but these were a letdown. For starters, they're going for $7.50 for one cake, be it a big piece, price may be a bit on the high end. I was expecting a moist cake but it seems like my piece went soft long ago. I offered my family a piece and they all sad it was dry while others said it wasn't sweet enough. As my condensed milk coffee goes it had that strong coffee kick, not bad but not great either. Cheesetella didn't impress today but you can't really judge by their soft openings. There was some missteps but I give them another shot when they're officially open. read more

I've only tried the Japanese cheesecake so I can't speak for their other items. It's a super light and fluffy texture with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. It's not super tangy like american cheesecakes and it's not thick and creamy either. The only downside in my opinion is the price and availability. It's a pretty small cheesecake for $10. I've also had to wait over 40 minutes one time to wait for it to finish baking. Sometimes they do sell out too. If you want you can give them a call and reserve a cheesecake. read more

Found this spot while walking around The Source and I just had to give this a try since the front looked aesthetic and it drew me in. I tried their Cheesetella and their lychee drink and both were pretty good. The drink wasn't overly sweet and the lychee flavors really came through. I would love to have more of the tea flavors to come out but the tea flavor was more mild. The Cheesetella cake itself was not bad. It was quite fluffy and the cheese complimented the cake well. I had such high hopes for Cheesetella because they promoted their Grand Opening on Facebook and it looked so delicious. The place itself is located in The Source and theres a small window where you go and pick up what you ordered. In order to place an order though, you have to line up because theres seriously enough room to fit 4 people (2 of the workers). Theres cute decor outside of the ordering window but that was probably the best thing about Cheesetella. We ordered the Chocotella and it was the last one left. The cheesetella and the cremetella had a 2 hour wait! It wasn't sweet (which is good for some people) but for me, it was super bland and although they promised "chocolate chips" I felt as if there were just a few pieces...not worth it. I've stopped by Cheesetella twice now and really enjoyed the pastries I got! The first time, I reserved a few original castella cakes as well as a cheesecake. The order was ready at the time I asked for, and the cakes were so fresh and warm. They were both really good and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The second time, I didn't call ahead to reserve, so when I walked up, they didn't have much ready since they had a large order they were preparing that morning. The cashier was really nice though and was able to take our order anyway, and we came back a few hours later. Those cakes were also fresh and warm, so I'm glad to see that they continuously bake throughout the day. If you like desserts but not too overwhelmingly sweet, I would recommend! Alrighty, I went to this place just out of curiosity. I've seen it in LA in a little mini mall, but never really tried it or knew of it's fame. I originally went to try to Cheesetella one but when I went it was just being made and was going to take about an hour. So what they had made was the Chocotella one. *TIP: ask what they have made so you're not disappointed and not get what you want or wait however many minutes/hours and get angry that it took so long* So the Chocotella, is what it is, chocolate. And I have a limit for my sweet tooth, so I think it's pretty sweet. But the texture is so fluffy, I love it. ALSO! It's not just a little slice like in the picture, it's like a brick LOL I took mine home to share with my boyfriend and his family. I also got to try the Flower Fizz, it has a cute presentation. I like the flavor, but the flower tea is quite floral, it overwhelms me. If they put a little more orange juice into it, I think it'd be perfectly balanced. But I'd still recommend to try! I'd also like to leave a review for the workers, they are very nice and sweet, as well as patient. The day I went they had a lot of angry customers for the long waits or not having flavors ready. Every time we visit, they are always OUT. I came here last week about 3 times to get their creamtella around 1:30pm, and each time they tell us that they're out. How is it possible that a store can run out of one of their most popular items hours before closing time?? Their employees are also especially rude. My mother visited today at around 1pm to buy a cake (well before their closing time), but the workers there YELLED at her when she asked why they are always out of their castella cakes every time she visits. The younger cashier at the front called out a man from the back, and he yelled at her and called her a "fcking b*tch" and told her to leave. All she did was ask why they're out of their cakes and what time she should visit if she wanted to buy their cakes. If you can't handle customer questions, why are you the one handling customer relations? They must think that aesthetics and subpar food is all it takes for a business to be successful; what they fail to realize is that it's ultimately customer service that brings customers back. Extremely disappointed with the management. No wonder their business only has 3.5 stars. A shame and disappointment to the original Cheesetella store in LA. Our visit to cheesetella was extremely disappointing. We went at around 6:00 pm on Sunday night and placed and order for their chocolate cake. We were told that it would take around an hour to make, so we asked if we could come back later to pick it up. The person working agreed, as long as we showed up before their 9:30pm closing time. We went back at around 8:00 pm, and to our surprise, we were told that they sold our order to another customer! The only alternative we were offered was their original flavor, to which we politely declined. Had the original, chocolate version, and the japanese cheesecake. By far like the cheesecake one. Similar to uncle tetsu but I think it's bit better. The original is a bit light for me, the one with cream might be better and give it a bit more sweetness. The chocolate one is not too sweet with morsels of chocolate to give it more sweetness. Didn't like the service that much. The lady didn't open the window to let me order until I knocked on it and then didn't say much and wasn't too friendly. I went here about a week or so after their grand opening. It was not even 7PM but they sold out everything and another batch was in the stove baking. Still, we had to wait over an hour (after 15-20 min in line) to get our order, and they only made 2 tray of the original at 1 cheese at that time. I think the store is too small so they cannot make more cake to meet the demand. The original cake we got tasted nothing special, it was just regular sponge cake, very soft, lightly sweet, and that's all to it. I been here for the first time to try their Cheese Cake: but they sold out and the wait time for it like 68 minutes, well it's too long for 1 cheesecake, and they said all cale sold put only original are available, not everyone have time for it. They must prepare more. I also did give a try in their drinks, I tried the Sencha & the strawberry fresh milk. It was so odd, I have had this in Ktown plenty of times and it was never like this. Went here 2pm on Sunday to buy some cheesecake. There was no one at the front desk so I spoke into microphone mounted on the window several times to notify the employee assuming they were in the back kitchen. After waiting for a few minute with no answer, me and my gf left. HOWEVER, as we walked from the front window and back around the corner of the store where the menu was we saw a female employee (w/black, thick-framed glasses) sitting there; hiding behind the cashier/front desk and playing on her iPhone. Either she's deaf or was blatantly avoiding to ring up to customers at the window. We saw her do this with these two female customers who were trying to order too after we walked back from getting drinks at Ding Tea. I read about people reviews about the wait time , so I decided to call and ask to see if any Japanese cheesecake was available. They let me know that a new batch would be ready in 30 minutes and I could reserve cheesecakes ahead of time. I put two on hold and picked them up 40 minutes later. There was no wait and was very efficient. I am giving it 4 stars (I would give it 3.5 stars) because I think for the size, $10.50 is overpriced. Uncle Tetsu cheesecake is much bigger and they only charge $8.75. Overall I would say the cheesecake was pretty good. The first time I tried it warm and fresh, it tasted too eggy, but this time I had it in the fridge over night and it was good. (I like my cheesecakes cold) read more
