So I finally came back over the weekend for lunch to checkout the rest of the menu, and I can see that they have improved. Customer service has always been great but there has been a big improvement in the operations. The place is set up as a fast food restaurant, so if you are looking for a fine dining experience don't look here. There aren't many seats and the place fills up fast, I gave up my seat for a group eating in as I waited. This time I ordered the teriyaki chicken w/ yakisoba noodles, California sushi roll, spicy tuna roll and a lion king roll. Added bonus with my order b/c I spent $20+ I got a voucher for a CA sushi roll for next time. The chicken teriyaki plate was good but carb full and filling, I was only able to finish 1/3 of the plate b/c of all the carbs. The ratio of protein, veggies and carbs could be adjusted (more chicken please). The California roll was good. Spicy tuna roll was much spicier and better than last time, although the knife work in cutting could be better, tuna everywhere.And the lion king roll was really good- I'd order it again. So I checked this place out for the first time being I live close by and always drove past it. It's basically fast food to go, they get u in and out pretty quick considering it was pretty busy when I went there. Food was pretty much what I expected it was good but nothing to brag about, they have a decent menu selection and it's affordable as far as taste it was ok. To me this is one of those places that if you ever want something quick and are not in the mood for a burger or taco etc then I would go here. I don't know what happened but it could be due to the Covid 19 situation. We ordered a variety of rolls here a combo of Cali, Dragon, Teriyaki which amounted to close to $90! But the zinger are the rolls we're mostly rice and the shrimp tempura was, I kid you not, all batter. I can't even see or taste any shrimp in there. Avocado was like a small sliver. Overall the value is definitely not what it used to be and no more deals to be found as they are known for. Instead they appear to have majorly skimped on the ingredients but charge more. It's unfortunate that perhaps it's a sign that they are not fairing too well with the lockdown and I feel bad. But to lose focus on quality on what they make doesn't help anyone either. My daughter found this place on yelp with 4 stars, so I was thinking it couldn't be that bad, right? Wrong. I was so disappointed. First, this place is not a proper sit-down restaurant. It's more like an in-n-out sushi, order and pick up, come and go type of place, with a few tables if you decide to stay and eat. There's one Chinese man so I think he's an owner and the rest of the crew / cook are Hispanics. So off the back, you can tell it's not authentic Japanese sushi or even close to it. I ordered a very basic salmon teriyaki, rice, salad bento plus 3 little pieces of raw salmon and tuna for about $10 something. What can I say? It was just a sad looking meal. It was served in a white foam container even though I told the owner we were eating in. The salmon was bland and had no taste. The salad looked like something I would buy from Costco pre-mixed salad bag and poured some dressing on it. They even provided a tiny drop of wasabi and few pieces of the ginger. Talk about being stingy. On a positive note, I got a free order of 2 Chinese egg rolls for checking in the place on yelp. I had one bite and my husband ate the rest. They were just too greasy for me. In my previous order, they forgot to include a spicy tuna roll, so I called after I got home to ask about refunding it from my CC. The manager told me to come back to get it, which I had no interest of doing. She then told me that next time I go in, to let them know that they owe me a spicy tuna roll. I would have gave more stars if the salmon was a larger portion and if they gave less rice, there was so much rice I threw half of it away. This place is definition of great value for a great price! If it's your first time here, don't forget to check in to get TWO free egg rolls! I got the beef teriyaki option; the beef teriyaki itself wasn't anything to write home about, very average to a little below average. However, what this restaurant does really well is their fried foods. Their shrimp tempura was absolute PERFECTION! I wish I had gotten the pork katsu cutlet (fried) because I think that would have been much better than the beef teriyaki judging based on their other fried sides and entrees. The shrimp tempura is mostly batter and only consists of a tiny thin piece of shrimp. Probably better off without it honestly. The inside of the restaurant is very smokey, probably something wrong with their ventilation and your entire body will smell like oil and food after stepping in here. Kind of like going to a kbbq place. The rolls don't nearly taste as fresh as they should be but I'm not sure what attributes to that. We called on a Sunday around 12pm to see if they were able to accommodate a last minute sushi platter order for family party that we were looking to pick up at 5pm. Luckily they didn't have any other platter orders and were able to accommodate! We ordered the Deluxe Sushi & Roll Platter and they require payment upon ordering for platters, the total came out to ~$72 after taxes. This platter was a hit at the family party! We had about 15 people there along with many other dishes, but this was able to feed everyone and we still had leftovers. This review is for Thida- I ordered catering for the first time here we Chef Teriyaki and I was greeted kindly by Thida upon my arrival. She insisted on helping me bring the multiple tray orders to my car without me having to ask. I really appreciated this because this rarely happens when I order catering elsewhere. She was very kind and respectful every time I visited. Today i had takeout orders and had the Happy Hour and she asked if the buy 1 get 1 half off was just for me. I kindly said no and it was for my girlfriend and I. She said she only asked because she can have the sauce on the side so that the chicken and rice do not get soggy.
