It is time to update my rviews... nothing better than letting you know that this little hole in the wall, Chelos Panaderia remains one of my favorites. I can always find the sweet breads that exude the fresh baked aromas as I enter the store. The fruit filled pastries such as pineapple and apples are a joy if you find them on the Open rack...they sell out fast... I am happy to fill that big aluminum tray with custar filled or simple sugared breads. The go great with a cup of coffee. Chelos Panaderia is one place for my sweet breads and pastries that I'll come back. No problem with good service from the young gentleman behind the counter as he is ready to help you with the best. read more

The shrimp tacos are fire!!! They serve them on Friday's. I ordered 3 should've got more . I love these tacos will definitely recommend with the really spicy hot sauce . They pair great! read more

CASH ONLY, they also take Zelle. Little bakery but also a taco and burrito shop! I ordered carne asada and al pastor tacos. I also tried out their giant conchas! $1.50 per taco and $1.50 for a concha! I would say for $1.50 a taco this place is pretty worth it! They are street taco size but they really stuff it! I liked the al pastor better, had more flavor and came with pineapple bits! The concha was decent, I'm not a huge bakery guy, it had nice flavor and wasn't overly sweet,'it was a little dry for me. I definitely recommend the tacos! I'll be back to try a burrito ($9). They also have this jalapeño cheese bread that looks good but we're unfortunately sold out. read more

Tiny little bakery with mind-blowing tacos and burritos. We stopped for lunch. The price is right and the setting is just what I like, humble but proud. The baked goods are the real deal, my apple turnover was spectacular. My Al pastor burrito was even better. It was enormous and stuffed with all the best stuff. It was $9! Food and service excellent. This is a hole in the wall Bakery that serves different varieties of tacos burritos tamales and pastries. Today was my first time stopping in after driving by here for over 20 years. Glad I did. I had 3 Al pastor tacos and jalapeño cheese tamale. One single serve flan and Mexican jello cup. There needs to be more than 5 stars available for this panaderia. I've lived right by here for 13 years and I CANNOT BELIEVE I NEVER CAME IN! You know I really shouldn't be writing this review, I really don't need this place to blow up and make it difficult to come to...but I'm doing this as an act of service to you, the reader. You're welcome :) The tacos here were as good as anyone else's, in fact better than most, and only $1.50/taco. The tortillas tasted homemade, but if they're store bought, they're still extremely fresh and I'd bet still hand made. I typically do not like corn tortillas, but I could eat their corn tortillas all day. They're soft, but hold together just enough to keep most of the meat contained. The carne asada was juicy, but not greasy, that's a tough thing to achieve! I had the infernio salsa and it really just sealed the deal of deliciousness! The salsa was fairly hot, but not painful to eat. If you're craving tacos, this is the place to come! read more

I wanted to give them a try and help them out in the reviews department if all went well but unfortunately it was the worst cake I had ever tasted. The cake was unlike your usual cake. This was dense like it was cornbread and the milk was not your usual sweet three milks. It smelled like play doh and tasted like you used straight evaporated milk and nothing else. It was bizarre. Never in all my years of eating tres leche had I ever tasted that before. The breads we bought were all dry. I tried a custard bread that had good reviews but it was like lemon curd? I finally had an opportunity to visit and try this place this morning. Got there about 10:45am Saturday morning. They start making their tacos and burritos at 11am. I waited a few minutes to try a variety of their tacos. All were tasty . My favorites - pollo and shredded beef. The gentleman behind the counter was very kind and patient to explain the variety of pastries they had. I ended up with a pumpkin, custard, and pineapple filled ones. A sweet bread and sweet cookie like pastry. I had a chance to try a hot drink with cinnamon. A small and clean establishment that provides freshly made Mexican pastries, tacos, and burritos to the locals.. They also have burritos in their fridge in a hurry along with cold drinks and desserts. Yummy food provided with friendly and awesome customer service. They are a few doors from Matsu. read more

This small little Panaderia is located in the shopping center where the Habit is located. It's a small little shop with a nice selection of bread (if you go early in the day) and even has a selection of food to order from. I've been a couple times and the guy working the counter each time has been attentive and does a pretty good job for manning a shop mostly by himself. I've only personally gotten the tacos, but for a shop that's only started selling them about a year or two ago they're not half bad. They have decent flavors and the salsa has a nice little kick to it. My only issue is the barbacoa tacos can get a little to wet causing the tortillas to fall apart, but for 1.50 they're a pretty solid offering if you're in a pinch. They also have a decent selection of bottled and canned drinks to choose from as well. I'll have to come back and try some of the pastries. read more

If we could give negative stars we would! Went to pick up the cake and was told that they were behind and to come back, which i did. It was totally understandable. We ordered 2 cakes and of those was a 3 leches. We never got a 3 leches. Called the place and owner was super rude and hung up. She called us a liar and that next time to save a slice to show her! Bought tamales for my family for Christmas and I must say I was pretty disappointed. The masa was WAY too thick and there wasn't nearly enough filling. I seemed like a pound of masa and a teaspoon of filling for each one. On top of that they were extremely spicy. My family and I love spice but it was the kind of spice that made it unenjoyable. Without anybody having to say anything, I can tell nobody in my family really enjoyed them. I bought 2 dozen and about a dozen ended up going to waste :( I only deducted one star because they have more to offer than just tamales- and they are nice people. Worst tamales ever!! $36 for a dozen, 6 Pork, 6 Chicken and if you pulled the meat out of all of them and stuffed it into a soda straw, it would barely fill up half of the straw. If I'm buying Tamales and I'm told they're chicken or pork, I expect to test or at the very least see some meat. If I wanted hot masa I would have just ordered the masa, which was tasty. First of all, I'm Mexican, born and raised so I think I have vast knowledge in this area and I am so unbelievably disappointed and embarrassed that this is the one Panadería in Huntington Beach and Chelos chooses to represent us like that. Now, the pan review - the donuts are the only good thing there but I mean, you can get those anywhere. Las conchas were bland, dry, and pretty stale. I had everything and nothing stood out. Ohhh but here is where they sent me over the edge - the tamales. What on god's green earth are those? The quality of the masa is awful and they CAKE IT ON. No pun intended. It's mainly masa and the tamales are huge but not a good way at all whatsoever. The service was nice but they only take cash so just be aware of that before you go in. We picked up a custard filled, pineapple filled and a sweet bread, plus two cappachinos. All for less than $10. The custard filled Pastery was enough for two.
