Really great local spot! The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. Portions are generous, and everything tastes like it's made with care. The staff is super friendly, and the service is quick. Plus, they have almond cookies - a love of mine!. Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area.

Quality family-style Chinese restaurant, hidden in Orange. This spot has been around forever. We stopped by after a hike, and it turned out to be the perfect choice! We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, stir-fried prawns, and crab rangoon. I love how the stir-fried dishes weren't greasy or overly heavy with MSG--just nicely seasoned. The sweet and sour chicken leaned a bit sweeter than I prefer, but the flour coating was very thin, making it a satisfying meal. My only complaint is about the crab rangoon--it was good, but I could mostly taste the cream cheese, not much crab. The restaurant has a calming vibe, which I really appreciated--and the food matched that feeling. Service was Professional and Excellent!

    1) the people are excellent!!! Almost everyone checked in on us multiple times... very family feeling... 2) the decor is nice and fun... with a Chinese flair... black red and white with a couple happy buddhas and even a cross on one 3) the food is excellent... we had Salt and pepper pork, cashew chicken, house chowmein... it was perfect so flavorful and not greasy (just how I love it) we wish we could pack it up and move them to Sacramento where we are seriously lacking in good Chinese food! Thanks for a delicious late lunch

A little but if everything! Faves: org chx, honey walnut shmp, chow mein but it wqs ALL soooo GOOD!

I was headed to Albertsons to grab dinner but seen this place and yelp the reviews and seen 4.3 stars and thought why not. I really should have stuck with the not, but this place was not worth the $45 dollars I paid. The orange chicken tasted burnt and salty. As you can see in the picture the glaze is super dark so I know the sauce was over cooked and burnt. It tasted nothing like orange. The fried rice tasted like boxed frozen burnt rice as well. Nothing tasted fresh. It all tasted like old food that was reheated in a pan and thrown in a box and changed $45 dollars for it. I'm so disappointed because food cost to much for it to be nasty. I don't know who is giving this place 5 stars but they are definitely lying. I wouldn't recommend this place or go back. The best thing was the vegetable egg rolls, but I didn't spend $45 for some veggie rolls. Please if you want to get good food and not waste your time or money DO NOT EAT HERE.

When asked for menu, the server said sorry it's bc they don't have alot of menu books available but proceeded to give me 3 out of like 10 that I see they have. So they obviously had some! There were only 3 tables that had customers. After that taking the menus, we were again not attended to for 20-30minutes, noone brought us water or ever asked if we were ready. We had to flag them, once again. They were at least 3 servers so it's not like they were short of help when there's only 3 tables full at the time. It's like they were ignoring us. We proceeded to order 9 dishes that took awhile to come out. Only 1 dish came out which was the walnut shrimp and then more came out 15minutes later. How do they expect our big party to start eating with just 1 dish. We also had to wait literally 30minutes with nothing to eat for 3 dishes at the end when we finished everything else already. We had to ask about it 3 times. They need better timing in everything.... I noticed a couple tables having the same problems. As for the food, it was alright. The honey walnut shrimp and fried salted pepper shrimp was not crispy. The peking duck was actually great, one of the best. But it is not worth their service & other foods.. There are tons of chinese food options out there, we will not be coming back here. 2il

It made me feel welcome, and I decided I didn't want to eat outside anymore. I was there with my dad. Kevin helped give us good recommendations since it was our first time ordering. He smiled and was so friendly to us. The food was good, but the service was outstanding! Kevin made sure our jasmine tea had fresh refills at appropriate moments. He didn't hover, but he was sensitive to the right times to check in. We received really good service because of him. Makes me want to bring friends back here for lunch or dinner. I ordered the black pepper beef ($14.95), which also came with fried rice, hot and sour soup, a vegetable egg roll, and a chicken wonton. The beef slices were tender and thin with juices remaining in the meat. However, the dish overall seemed a little too oily for my palate. The fried rice was good and didn't have an overpowering flavor. The side dishes accompanying the weekend special were adequate. However, the vegetable egg roll was oily, and I had to wipe my fingers each time I picked it up. The little chicken wonton was wrapped in a greasy aluminum foil that wasn't very pleasant to open. I found the hot and sour soup adequate, but I've eaten better elsewhere. Despite some minor disfavors with the food, the weekend special is still cost effective, allowing you to get a big lunch for under $15. There wasn't a wait, and we got immediately seated. We got our food relatively quickly, and our server came back to ask if I needed more water. The ambience is relaxed and quiet with peaceful piano music in the background. Bathrooms are toward the back, and parts of the walls and plumbing inside looked dirty and stained.

There were only 3 main options: 1) lamb shank, 2) lamb ribs, and 3) lamb skewers. All halal and made with New Zealand lamb which was awesome! We tried all 3: one plate of the shank/ribs combination (which came with a bed of rice, pickled veggies, and a bowl of soup) and also one order of the lamb skewers which came with 3 skewers. Everything was excellent but the lamb shank was truly amazing and my favorite item - the meat was outrageously tender and just fell off the bone as I tried to take a piece - we had the shank just basic with no rub. The short ribs were a close second (we had these with the bbq rub and it was tremendous if you wanted more flavor). The skewers were decent - we had them plain because I didn't want anything too spicy but I would def recommend getting the rub for these if I were to get them again. The pickled veggies balanced the heavy meat and rice items perfectly to round out the meal. We also tried the jasmine yuzu tea drink and the homemade yoghurt which ended the meal nicely. I'm not a fan of lamb in general and generally avoid it at most restaurants, but I was loving every bite. Would highly recommend to try this place if you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. (#2) At $15-19 for most dishes. (#3) Did we get lucky?
