I love the car that I purchased but have had nothing but trouble from a very rude and unhelpful service department. The people I have spoken to on the phone are argumentative and dismissive. I have had two recalls on my car. I received the noticed from General Motors and both times was told that they were incorrect. One of recalls is very important. When I called to schedule my appointment for the recall the person said I could not be found in the system. "Did I buy my car from them?", and that I needed to order the part from General Motors then maybe they would do the work... ??? I have never had any dealer do this? So, I phone General Motors and was told that they are wrong. I called another Chevy dealer and they have ordered everything and they will make sure that my car gets the recall taken care of. I also found out that Keyes was supposed to do the other recall and that when I took my car in they did not actually do the correct work! The other dealer I spoke with let me know that they have had many calls with the same complaint from other customers that tried to call Keyes for the recall repairs. read more

Called three days ago to buy 'ANOTER' car from Keyes Chevy. Asked for Andrew, who you can see me praising in the previous review. Called within opening hours and the phone just rang and rang and rang. Called the next day, phone just rang and rang and rang. Called yesterday, and someone picked up. I asked for "Andrew" and was told they have no record of an Andrew ever working there. Odd, since we bought our last car from him and wrote a review about him on Yelp at the time. She asked if I wanted to speak to another person who could help us. I said "sure." She said one moment, and I held and held and held. Finally I heard a voicemail prompt telling me the voicemail was full and then was disconnected. Ever get the sense that someone doesn't want your business too badly? That's how we're feeling here. And when we took our car in TWICE to fix how the car doesn't recognize our iphones, we were told that they can't do anything if the problem isn't taking place. We said, the nature of the problem is that it's intermittent. We were told, nothing can be done unless the problem is happening while we are on the lot. So you can make up your own mind about this business. We liked our original salesman (who now allegedly has never worked there). But as for continuing service and being available to get repeat customers, I'm not sure Keyes Chevy is very interested. read more

Hi Fellow Yelpers, I wanted to write about my experience today at Van Nuys Chevrolet. Warning: long review however I wanted to make sure I didn't leave anything out in hopes that the GM Rick Alpern would read and take appropriate action. The experience started out great and ended horrible. Let's start from the beginning. My husband and I went in looking at used cars. There was a Grand Jeep Cherokee that caught our attention. We showed the salesman Jose that there was a similar vehicle at the North Hollywood Toyota for much less. The car at North Hollywood Toyota was $18,500 and the one at Van Nuys Chevrolet was $24,500. Jose asked his manager Fazi if they were able to price match. Fazi came to my husband and I and asked if they are able to price match, no money down and do $400 a month would we be willing to take the car today. We told them we were going to go look at the one at Toyota and we would be back. We went to go look at Toyota and because of the interior we wanted to go back to Van Nuys. I called the manager Fazi and he said "yes, come on down". We ended up going back to Van Nuys and was greeted with a welcome back from Jose and Fazi. We sat down and ran a credit application. Unfortunately my husband did not qualify. Fazi then suggested if we have a co-signer, in which we did. He said to have her apply (all the while the deal was still in play for the price match, zero down and $400 a month). As we were waiting for our co-signer to do the online application we headed home. We then got a call from the dealership and this time there was a new manager who was giving us a call. His name was Phil and Phil was VERY RUDE! Here are some of the statements Phil made to my husband (it was not what Phil was saying but how he was saying it-very demeaning tone) "I don't know who gave you that price, but we are not on the same page" "You're far off from what you want to pay at $400 a month, my price is $27,000 after tax out the door, I don't know who you spoke to" "The credit scores not even a tier one" At this point my concern and frustration is 1. why would the sales person and first manager we were dealing with say they would price match and structure a deal 2. Why did Phil feel the need to mention the credit was not "tier 1", as if they don't work with different types of credit or try to attempt to give my husband other options on a deal 3. Why did Phil call with such a short attitude and demeaning tone. From the phone call from Phil it sounded as if Phil was being very dismissive and upset about the previous sales people quoting us at this price. As a consumer we are not responsible for what your employees are telling us. We have now ran credit twice under the impressions of the price match and are now being told they can not price match. If this was the case we wouldn't have spent our morning at the dealership and running credit causing inquires to our credit report. I then called the original manager Fazi and asked what happened and shared my concern about Phil being rude. Fazi was just as confused and said he would talk to the manager that spoke to my husband and would call me back in 15 mins. 35 mins have passed and no word from Fazi so I reached out to him.Fazi then shared my contact with Phil and Phil gave me a call. From the moment I answered the phone Phil was very combative stating he was not rude and tried defending himself. At this moment I was shocked as him being a manager going back and forth with me as the customer. I asked Phil for his name and his General Managers name, he gave me his name but did not give me his GMs name. I asked if they had a yelp and his response (with a catty tone) was "yes we have yelp, google etc. Do whatever you feel like". and then he hung up. After this call another manager (I didn't get his name) called and tried to make the situation better asking what can they do to fix the situation to prevent a review. And although I appreciate the call I informed him I was very upset on how Phil handled the situation. Being an executive myself I felt Phil and the whole situation with miscommunication on the price match was a big miss in client satisfaction and customer service. Please be aware of who you deal with when going into this dealership, they lack honesty and customer service. read more

I can't say most new car buying experiences are pleasant but due to the more limited supply of cars right now, the salesperson had a cocky attitude and even raised his voice, bordering on yelling at me. They seem to have forgotten, due to this high demand, how to speak to a prospective buyer. In pricing negotiations he immediately went to additional services like special active alarms, extended warranties, etc. Trying to bring the discussion back to the actual selling price of the car before we discussed extended warranties for that car, he actually yelled at me - that's how we do things here! Then he stormed off to speak with the manager. Why discuss these additional features first, before the price? Even if that's their standard procedure, they should be flexible to the customer's preference to talk price first before extended warranties. Worst salesperson ever. read more

I bought my car from this dealership, had a pretty good experience - now I will NEVER go back! My Trailblazer has a turbo issue - I called service and they said they could take me first thing this morning. I arrived (35 min drive) only to have my tech PETE GARCIA inform methat I had to leave my car there for 1 week before they would evern look at it - I told him the lady who booked the appointment told me they could take me today. Pete then said "well to be honest is going to be 2 weeks before we can even look at it. What happened next is why I will never go back - Pete could care LESS that I drove 35 minutes, my wife also in another car to pick me up. He said that just the way it is. I asked if he could schedule me and call me when they are ready and i can come back. Very flay and unapologetic said NO. I told him there is no way I can be with out my car for 2-3 weeks (time they order parts). I said I would have to look at alternatives and he just walked away, no sorry, thank you for coming down, Nothing Just walked away - They could CARE LESS!!! Keyes Chevrolet 5949 Van Nuys Blvd Van Nuys, Calif 91401 Buying an automobile can be extremely difficult for most people, however, my worst experience EVER was with Keyes Chevrolet in Van Nuys! It was 3 days of pure misery!!! During the last week of November 2021, I saw online, a Pre-Owned Buick Enclave at Keyes Chevrolet. I immediately phoned my credit union to advise the automotive consultants that my husband was interested in buying the vehicle and to email the purchase contract to Keyes Chevrolet. On the first day, we were directed by our credit union to meet with David W. a salesperson at the dealership. He and the management staff were aware through phone calls and emails, that my husband's only obligation to the dealership, was to sign the purchase contract and take immediate procession of the vehicle. Despite this information, during the process of signing, David's Supervisor came over to the table and tried to persuade us that financing the vehicle through Keyes Chevrolet would be a better option than the credit union. I told him several times, "no thank you." However, his continuous persistence made us feel extremely uncomfortable, so at that point, we left the dealership. The second day, the consultant from the credit union, called the dealership and spoke with Jose F. In addition, He was sent a duplicate email for clarification, explained the conditions of the purchase order, and asked, a second time, to allow the contract to be signed. As a result of the phone call, we sat almost 3hours in the waiting area, prior to being called into the office of another finance manager to, "supposedly", sign the purchase contract. The manager never apologized for our long wait, instead, made a final vigorous attempt to convince my husband to authorize Keyes Chevrolet financing for lienholder. When I tried to intercede for my husband, the manager, stood up angrily, pointed his finger at me, and yelled, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to your husband!" Completely devastated, and extremely upset, we left the dealership again and instantly called our credit union. On the third day, I called David to express my disappointment about the unprofessional manner in which we were treated by the management and staff. Unexpectedly he stated," You came into the dealership twice and walked out without purchasing a car, as soon as you left, someone came in, liked the Buick, and bought it." I knew that this wasn't true because we left the dealership near closing time and no other customers were present. Moreover, I told David that, this was in retaliation not only against me but my credit union as well, strictly because we refused to accept the dealership offers as the lienholder. That afternoon, my credit union made a final call to the dealership, and again spoke with Jose F. He was asked to explain why the Buick was still listed online obviously, unsold and requested for the third time to have my husband sign the purchase order. Jose's response was," the car is unavailable." Instantly, the credit union removed Keyes Chevrolet from their list of car dealerships vowing never to support them again. In conclusion, I called the General Manager of Keyes Chevrolet and explained this entire debacle to him. He seemed extremely upset, stated that this wasn't the way they do business, that everyone involved would be spoken to, he then called the dealership and had the Enclave Buick immediately released and sold to my husband. Furthermore, prior to buying the vehicle, David promised to purchase an ashtray from an outside vendor for the Enclave. Also within 2 days, the dealership was supposed to mail a small tube of touch-up paint to my home. After making numerous calls to the dealership, I finally received the touch-up paint the second week in January 2022. When I asked about the ashtray still listed on Keyes Chevrolet's "Due Bill Form", salesman Hovig K. informed me that the dealership will not honor that obligation. Meanwhile, I've left several messages with the receptionist at Keys requesting a return phone call from the General Manager concerning this issue, yet, there has been no response from him. If you're looking for a wonderful car buying experience at a dealership where you are valued as a patron, I think you should look further than Keyes Chevrolet in Van Nuys, especially after viewing the multiple 1-star Yelp Reviews listed. read more

We brought the car in on June 21st because the check engine light appeared suddenly. It was really weird as this was a new car with very low mileage and it shouldn't have popped up this early. We gave in the keys so they would check everything, they said they will let us know what is the actual problem in the next 2/3 days and if the car ends up staying longer then a few days then they will give me a replacement car in the meantime. They didn't contact me until almost a week to let me know there is a transmission issue and they need to get a part so once again they said we will know more by Thursday and let me know and they didn't. I had to call them so many times and nobody available to speak. The manager lied to me as they did not even bother to do what is necessary regarding replacement car while my car is being fixed. 3 weeks past and not a peep of word from them. Nobody contacted me, no one text called or emailed NOTHING. For 3 weeks I have been without a car and they do not give a damn. It's their responsibility to update me on everything as soon as possible, and they did not succeed in this. Keyes Chevy has a costly issue with honesty and accountability. As I read through the other reviews, the responses from the dealership made me cringe. This place makes zero effort to remedy negative experiences for its customers, especially if they've already made their money off of you. My husband and I decided to lease a Chevy Volt last year. We spent the entire day in the dealership deliberating and trying to find a way to afford the car. We were very much on the fence until the salesperson, Robert, made a last ditch effort to close the deal by informing us that, if we leased the Volt, we would receive two tax credits at the end of the year-- one state refund and one federal refund for $7,500. He also told us that minor dents and dings would be covered under the lease agreement. My husband and I crunched the numbers and realized that the tax incentives and coverage were significant enough to offset the upfront cost of the monthly payments. When we went to sign the papers, we learned that the monthly payments would be more than we were quoted if we wanted that external damage (dents and dings) coverage. Since this was in direct contradiction to what we were told by the salesperson, we proceeded to confirm other information we were told about the lease, including the tax incentives. We were assured that everything else we were told was accurate, and an hour or so later, we drove a leased Volt off the lot. Flash forward to this month: We get a call from our accountant telling us we're not eligible for the federal tax refund. We go into Keyes to address the issue. Naturally, my husband and I were very upset. But our anger was only exacerbated when we were met with nothing but resistance and denial from everyone we encountered, including the GM/co-owner, Rick Alpern. He refused to believe that his saintly staff would ever mislead, lie to or con a customer. Even more strangely, he had the nerve to try to reprimand my husband (in person and in an e-mail) for expressing his anger at the situation. (Rick, perhaps working in the car business for so long has distanced you too far from normal human reactions and emotions, but when people are purposefully misled and screwed out of thousands of dollars, they're entitled to reacting with some emphasis and frustration) The kicker is that during that conversation with Rick, we mentioned that we were from NYC and had never owned or leased a car prior to moving to LA a year ago. He quickly interjected that he, too, was from New York and "gets it" (whatever that means). Yet, later in the conversation, when we said we were living in Palms, he interjected that he grew up in Palms (..?!!) and even followed it up with an anecdote about his teenage years at the pier! And this is the guy we're supposed to believe when he says his dealership prides itself on being honest. We got nowhere with Rick or anyone else at the dealership. We were just force-fed a whole lot of, "I'm sorry if that was your perception, but I don't believe that happened." Flash forward to today: I bring the car in to be serviced. This is the third time we've brought the car back to the dealership for oil changes and mileage checks. Yet, it was the first time we were informed the car should have received a significant number of other services for safety during or between our other visits. What started as a 90 minute service turned into a 4 1/2 hour ordeal that ended with the dealership telling me that the car couldn't leave the lot because it was dangerous to drive. Allow me to unpack all of this for the short-sighted and participation award recipients of the Adequate Communication Contest over there at Keyes Chevy: 1. Your salespeople lied to us in order to make a sale 2. That lie cost us $7,500 plus the amount of time we wasted fighting with you about the validity of being lied to 3. Your service department neglected to communicate vital information about services the car required 4. Due to not receiving this vital information, my husband and I drove a car that needed to be serviced for 18,000 miles 5. We learned 18,000 miles too late that we needed brake fluid and at least 5,000 miles too late that a cylinder was misfiring 6. WE COULD HAVE DIED because of Keyes Chevy's neglect and faulty communication If we could, we'd break the lease and stay as far away from Keyes Chevy as possible, but we can't. Don't make the mistake we did. You will lose money here. Or, worse, put you and your family's lives in danger. One last fun fact to send you off to another dealership with: Rick tried to use his dealership's Yelp reviews as evidence of their integrity and impeccable customer service. When he was drowning in our arguments, he actually said, "Go to Yelp if you don't believe me. There's a reason we get such great reviews." YOU HAVE 3 STARS. Really amazing customer service. My previous lease was due to be up in 2 days so I was shopping around looking for the best deals. I visited and talked to other dealerships and they were either too aggressive and pushy, or just not willing to negotiate with me. When I called Keyes Chevy I asked to be transferred to the sales department and I was immediately connected with Jose Flores. I gave him the run down of what I was looking for along with the numbers I needed to see. I advised him since I was shopping around I would not be able to make it in to negotiate and time was of the essence, I wanted to be in a new car by the end of the day. Off the bat I noticed there was no resistance on his end. He listened to every single thing I wanted and advised me that he would see what he had on the lot, run some numbers and get back to me. He got back to me pretty quickly and advised me of the deals we were working with. (They were damn near identical to mine) But I still negotiated with him and advised him if he could match "xyz" that he would have a deal and I'd be in at the end of the day. He ran the numbers and got me exactly what I wanted. Once I showed up to the dealership I was greeted by Jose and he was extremely courteous and friendly and he honestly made the entire process enjoyable for me. I will never give the sales department my business again. The salesman was rude and threatened to tow my loaner car while I asked to park in the customer service department for a day while I took my other car home from service department showing no comradery with the company they work for which shows me lack of character and service. He talked to me so unprofessionally and was rude. They had ample extra parking and my loaner car was a Chevrolet. They barely have customers. Maybe there is a reason for that. They just stand outside smoking and on their cell phones. He was just not nice for no reason. He must need to assert control over me because he feels so powerless. read more

Today I decided to call up Keys Chevrolet in Van Nuys. I told Jonathan that I was going to be moving but wanted to check out the Chevy Colorado. When I arrived I was intercepted by the, blatantly cheesy, salesmen batting lineup which reeks of desperation and insincerity. Upon explaining that I was there to see Jonathan I was brought to the front desk where they called him. After about 15 to 20 minutes of waiting I finally asked the girl up front what happened to Jonathan. Oh, he's at lunch and said you can talk to anybody. I was never more than 15 feet away from the desk and no one had the common courtesy, or common sense, to inform me. I decided to take the initiative and go back to the pack of salespeople waiting out front for the next person to tackle. Knowing the routine I asked "who's next in the batting order?" Alan stepped up clumsily and unsure if it was his turn. After confirming with the other guys we proceeded. I explained to him why was there and told him about my experience waiting for Jonathan. Because you don't train your salespeople to actually listen to the customers he got confused and was worried as to whether or not he should even be speaking with me. When I told him that Jonathan has willingly passed me off he then tells me that Jonathan can't make that call. To bring order to this stupidity I simply said, I just want to see the truck and take it for a drive to see if I even like it. Alan then immediately goes into a routine closing pitch asking me if I intend to buy today. At this point you have already lost me, but I'm there and need to make this trip somewhat worth my time since I've already wasted almost half an hour. He then tells me that they don't really do test drives unless you're planning to buy because the "weekends are commission only." I've never even test drove the vehicle, let alone set eyes on it, in person, and you want me to make a determination as to whether or not I'm willing to buy? I completely understand the desire to avoid wasting one's time on window shoppers but this is the profession you chose. Part of being a good salesperson is navigating these waters with class, intelligence and patience. We proceeded to debate about why I'm moving to Vegas, what the tax structure is, is my wife involved in the sale, what am I going to do with my wife's car and how am I going to deal with the heat in Las Vegas. We never actually got to talk about the vehicle. He never was able to reset, take a step back, figure out how to get back to doing his job which is to sell the damn vehicle. To make matters worse he didn't even offer to get a key and let me see inside one of the vehicles. Finally we walked back to the dealership where he said to me that he wanted to talk about numbers. I reminded him that there is no point in talking about numbers since I've never even driven the vehicle. When I went to leave he asked me to wait and that he wanted to get Jonathan. I thought we already established that Jonathan wasn't interested in wasting time on me. But as I mentioned earlier, your people don't like to listen, they just go on rattling through a series of horribly worn out closing questions. After waiting about five minutes, I left. I would like to say that this was an isolated incident but I had a similar experience at your Mercedes dealership when I was shopping for my wife's ML 350. In that instance you didn't have one that was black. When I expressed this was a requirement the salesman kept trying to pitch me a dark gray one by saying that it was 80% black. It was mildly amusing because he had a Russian accent and reminded me of the Direct TV guy. That said, it was 100% of what I was NOT looking for. You have a cultural problem within your organization and a horrible sales training program, if any. Maybe the employee pool isn't the strongest in Van Nuys, maybe you've discovered it is more effective to push around weak, poor or uneducated people. No matter the reason, these tactics are unacceptable. It's easy to dismiss complaints like this by telling yourself, "he wasn't going to buy anything anyway" but that is simply not the case. A skilled salesperson knows how to dodge objections like Neo in The Matrix. The vast majority of people do not walk on to the lot intending to buy, that day, though many can be closed. But that is not the same thing as a guaranteed sale. If you want guaranteed sales, go work at Macy's. The smartest thing that you can do is teach your people how to look at customers as human beings. Every relationship has a starting place and you cannot suspend these rules because you're impatient and only thinking about the end result. When you do your job correctly the results come. I would not recommend that anybody even consider purchasing a vehicle, from any of your dealerships, given my experiences with your salespeople at multiple dealerships. read more
