Most recently came here for a Caymus wine dinner and had a great time. Each course was great, service was very good at each touchpoint, and the servers gave us very generous wine pours, which made it well worth it for $400+ a couple. We also got a VIP card for future dining at the restaurant, though it was only given to one member of our party of four, which was disappointing. Still, I look forward to returning. read more

We stopped in for an unexpected late afternoon drink / apps after our initial restaurant was a bust... what a gem! The view of the river was great (we were at a smaller table, but still had a great view under a lovely tree to protect us from the sun), the food was amazing but the service was even better. We ordered a few drinks and a few apps... the star of the show was the "lobstercargot" and we also ordered the tuna tartar, filet sliders and nueske bacon. The food was all great but, here's the best part, rather than dropping the plates in the center of our small table, 2 servers accompanied our server and divided our apps among 3 plates, creating 'sample' plates for each of us. Chicago Cut is for sure 1 step better than RPM and Steak 48 in my opinion. Outdoors on the river is unbeatable. The lowest level directly on the river is outstanding. Expensive but not like RPM and Steak 48. For me it's Gene & Georgetti or Chicago Cut, that's it. read more

Let me start by saying I've been to just about every steakhouse there is in Chicago and I would rank this place in my top 5. For starters we had the maple glazed bacon it was outstanding the way the syrup drizzled on every single bit just delicious. I had the 26 ounce ribeye for my entree and I barely made a dent but it tasted as good if not better the next day. The sides were also very good, lobster Mac and cheese is always a win. Also had brussel sprouts and creamed spinach. Everyone there was very attentive and friendly from greeting us at the door to constantly topping off the water. Staff is extremely friendly and professional from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Atmosphere is classy comfortable. Drinks are perfectly made. Wine served at the correct tempurature. The food was exquisite; the Filet Mignon and the Lamb is not to be missed! The Chocolate cake and the Carrot cake were the perfect ends to an excellent meal. Give me all the frozé rosé all day every day!!! What a great dining experience! It was a rainy Friday in Chicago during lunchtime when I decided to hit this steakhouse. It wasn't crowded, but there were definitely some bosses doing power lunches, and making big business moves all around. I went solo and was given a great table that overlooked theriver bed. Despite the rain, it was still a gorgeous view. My server was amazing - kind, hilarious, knowledgeable, and accommodating. She definitely made sure to take care of me despite her other various tables that clearly had some heavy hitters. Now, will I say this was the best steak I've ever had... No... But was it tasty absolutely! It was cooked just the way I liked it, aged very well, and a nice thick cut. The sides were decent, nothing to run home and brag about. However, aside from the ambience and the beautiful view of overlooking the river bed... I cannot stress enough how amazing the frozé rosés were! That's right, I said "were" because yes, there were multiple, and yes, I enjoyed absolutely every single one. I would go back for the ambience and the drinks alone. The great service and the tasty food are an additional good touch for a reason to go back! Definitely give this spot a try if in the Chi. Be sure to request a table that overlooks the water, if not too humid get a table that sits outside and looks over the river bed. Where do I begin? Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and wow. To start off the night, Matt seated us, and we chatted for some time. He is AMAZING, so kind, knowledgeable, and offered up great recommendations, all of which we took! The Kosta Brown was divine and paired perfectly with all of our dishes. We started with the lobster cargot, what a creative and delicious take on the buttery French classic. The bone in ribeye was cooked to perfection and perfect to share. The creamed spinach, whipped potatoes, and jalepeno cheddar hashbrowns were amazing accompaniments. The service was out of this world, water and wine glasses never empty, each dish was plated out to us, everyone was super attentive. Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience. This restaurant is located by the river, and it's quite hard to book a table online. I just walked in and asked if they had any seats--and it was surprisingly easy to get a four-person table. The staff were all very friendly, and the beef was excellent. The seafood platter's oysters, however, weren't very impressive in my opinion. I've dined here about 4x now and every time seems better than the last. Has exceptional service from Frank on our last visit here. What an incredible server who was very attentive and even made us laugh a lot! Thanks to Jason who allowed us to move our table after being seated tho sit closer to the river. We had the stunning views of the river which is one of the reasons we love to dine here in the summertime. The food was 10/10 as well! Can't go wrong with their filet, Mac n cheese, Brussel sprouts and truffle fries!! Also LOVE the bread basket here of course! It's assorted with pretzel bread, cheese bread & cinnamon bread! We had a great time. Service was impeccable, food was phenomenal, and drinks were delicious. Highlights: seafood tower, lamb chop appetizer, sea bass, and you can't go wrong with any of the steaks. Made reservations on Open Table for a birthday dinner on a Wednesday evening at 5:30pm. It was a gorgeous evening, so we chose to sit outside on the patio. Our server Scarlett was fabulous! We ordered the lobsterescargot as an appetizer. It was very rich, you can only really eat just one, it does come with 6. Probably won't order again. My husband and I both ordered the filet. The filet was cooked perfectly to a medium rare. The filet was very very salty. I actually cut the top and bottom crust off. I did inform our server, hopefully the chef was told. An absolute fantastic dining experience! The service was out of this world, the ambience was fantastic, and the food was perfect. You're treated like royalty the minute you walk in, and when you sit outside, you get a great views of the Chicago skyline. Moving on to the Food, the lobster appetizer was rich, creamy, cheesy and just really good. The steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned well, and the inside was juicy and tender. The jalapeño and peppers hash browns were nice and crispy, spicy, and a large portion, the corn was very fresh and very flavorful. We finished tonight with a cheesecake, which was humongous, and rich and creamy flavor. All in all the dining experience was one of my favorite this year and I cannot wait to come back. On our way to hotel, our Uber driver recommended few spots to try! Gibson steak house was one of the places to try. Also Chicago cut steak house was another! We went on a Friday night to Gibson steak and it was so busy! I'm glad it was busy because we ended up going to Chicago cut Steakhouse and it was amazing. The only thing is that it was really loud and crowded and tables were so close. You Could barely hear your friend talk. I had the soup butternut squash which was okay 3/5 and we got lobster mac & cheese, and the whipple potato. The lobster mac & cheese were really good, but the potato was not really that great. This is one of the steak houses that I would say I have eaten after Berns steakhouse on Tampa Florida. I had the filletnminuon medium plus which was good! Super tender and tasty. The basket of bread, every single type of bread they had there was beyond amazing! I could just eat that! The good thing is, I'll be able to get a reservation the same day but the fact it was crowded I did not enjoy that. When I think of expensive steakhouse, I think of quiet and fancy. We went for my sons birthday. The outside seating was beautiful along the Chicago river. Our waiter was outstanding and helpful. The food however was not as good as our first time here. My daughter ordered the burger and didn't eat it because it lacked taste. My steak had to be sent back because it was medium rare versus medium. They offer alfresco dining which is fine but the doors are open and you get the insect dining experience. My friend and I came here just on a whim to get ourselves a nice dinner but didn't want to go over the top. We sat at the bar and was able to get a table easily. It was cold outside so it was very nice to be inside and they had the decorations up for Christmas. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive to us. My friend and I both ordered a burger with fries and we enjoyed it a lot! We were debating what to eat and decided to come here for a burger because we'd rather have a good burger and pay a little more than an average burger that would be a little cheaper. Went back finally a few years ago and it was night and day from my first visit. Just realized I had never updated my review. The stupid wine iPad was gone, service was dramatically better, food was correct and great, all the things I liked the first time around were still great; all the things that went wrong were corrected. It's an excellent choice and I would now recommend the spot, I'm only not giving it five stars because there are two spots in Chicago I think you can get a better steak for the same money. Convenient location for sure. I was visiting our Chicago office, and some coworkers and I decided to do an early dinner. It was cold-ish out, so we just went to Chicago Cut Steakhouse. It seemed rather popular, even before 6PM. Good vibes mostly, elegant spot. Menu is typical and doesn't really standout compared to other steakhouses. You get your nice cuts of meat, some seafood apps and options, amazing sides, and drinks. The "free" bread basket is great though. Really enjoyed that. 5 of went here and we were looking at the menu and we decided to all get steaks and some sides. The server was friendly and knew the menu quite well, and he said that sides are to be shared (of course) and that they would split them out depending on what we ordered. I'm unsure if that is by default such that there isn't really a family style thing going on here, but anyways, we got the following - Ribeye - Some of us ordered the ribeye, and a 2 people at the table shared one ribeye steak. They had this cut in half for those 2 people so that was pretty nice of them to do so. The ribeye itself was alright. There were a lot of pure fat chunks that only about half the steak was edible. Filet - Those that ordered the filet enjoyed it for the most part. It didn't really stand out in comparison to other filet cuts from other places, but it was tender. I got the ribeye because I like the richness in flavor more, but I probably should have also gotten the filet because more of the steak was edible. Sides - mac n cheese, scalloped potatoes, Brussels sprouts. They split these sides amongst the 5 of us, which is good and bad. It was good because we all got an equal amount, but bad because what if someone wanted less mac and cheese and more potatoes and someone else wanted more mac n cheese, etc? Also, it would be nice for them to let us know they would be doing 2 orders of mac n cheese and 2 orders of potatoes and 1 order of sprouts. We thought it was one order each, but multiples shows up on the check. Most clientele here probably wouldn't mind, but I did mind. The sides were pretty good. We enjoyed those more than the steak itself for some reason. I'm not really a mac n cheese person, but ate all my share anyways cause I didn't want to waste food and I didn't have anywhere to put it if I were to box that up. Popular place for various events, and again, convenient location. Would I go back? Most likely if I'm visiting our Chicago office again, but by choice? Probably not. read more

And the filets were indeed delicious - my med rare was perfect - but it's sides and desserts that warrant this review! The hash browns were done like a patty, a bed of pure deliciousness. Most definitely the carb choice to get. Our favorite dessert to get most anywhere is tiramisu and theirs was the largest I've ever seen, and even more delectable than it was enormous. We arrived at the restaurant a little before our reservation so we sat in the bar area and had a drink while we waited. Our waitress was very helpful on what drinks to get or what spirits they had. I've been here a few times now and really haven't found anything wrong here. First, it's beautiful in the Summer and Christmas time. Second, the service is always above and beyond. Third, the food is fantastic! My guest and I spilt a Caesar salad. They were able to split it for us tableside. Wonderful flavor and quite the portion for a side salad that was split. I had the Bone In Rib Eye. Beautifully marbled, and enough flavor to ensure I get my red meat fix for 24 hours. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. We had plenty of left overs. Dessert was wonderful. My guest said it was the best carrot cake she had ever had. I can't deny that, it was not very dense, the frosting was also light.
