This place is huge. I can see why there are so many diverse reviews here because there is indoor dining, outdoor dining and then private dining. I was with a large group in private dining so it made it really special. We had our own waiters several of them and waitresses and they were all excellent. Our main person who explained the menu as well was amazing! Had the steak Delmonico it was superiorly cooked and tasted amazing! Good side dishes and dessert not pictured it went into my belly. A spectacular dining experience in every way. We sat outside overlooking the Chicago River on a warm September evening with temperatures in the low 70s--it was perfect weather for an outdoor meal. Our server, Chris, was one of the best I have ever had anywhere ... attention to every conceivable detail. The complimentary bread basket included a variety of bread types including soft pretzel, sourdough and that thin crispy Parmesan cheese covered temptation that gets me every time. Our table shared the lobster escargot as an appetizer and it was delightful. So much flavor packed in every bite! For dinner I had the bone-in ribeye cooked medium rare, and we paired our meat selections with the steamed spinach, whipped potatoes and mushrooms--it was a perfect hat trick of sides, and Chris expertly divided them up amongst our three diners. My steak was perfectly cooked, and so extremely tender. Simply amazing and easily one of the best steaks I have ever had. For dessert we split a decadent piece of chocolate cake and a slice of the peanut butter pie. Finally got to try Chicago Cut for my birthday dinner with my hubs after many years of aiming to try it. We arrived a little early for our reservation so we sat at the bar for a little. As a pregnant person, I was bummed there was no mocktail menu. The bartenders told me about the "bun in the oven" drink and brought out a glass with bread. I really loved the humor in it, and then one of them made me a surprise mocktail which was very delicious. Would love to see more options for non-drinkers however! The dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Our server was attentive and polite and service all around was a 10 for the night. I got a filet and my husband got the ribeye. We split a few sides that they plated separately for us to have our own serving. They also gave me a birthday dessert on the house that I really appreciated. Overall, had a wonderful dinner here. While I can't say Chicago Cut is my favorite steakhouse in the city, it's still a great restaurant that is always a good option for a special occasion. read more

Came here for a bachelor party dinner last month. We specifically picked this restaurant for their prime rib, sadly they had run out of it when we tried to order for our dinner. This is their signature cut, you'd think they'd prepare better. I ordered the 26oz bone in Ribeye instead. Out of the 26 Oz, I know to expect a lot of it to be the bone, which is normal, but did not expect it to be around 8 ounces of just thick layers of fat. Barely any meat on it. Overall it tasted okay but was just mediocre. The appetizers were decent but in my opinion way overpriced for the portions. The only reason they are even getting 2 stars is that the service was impeccable. I will not be coming back here for the food any time soon read more

We ordered the lobster escargots and oysters to start, both a little pricey but both delicious! I'm not even normally a lobster gal but these were bomb. Also the complimentary bread basket was full of goodies! I got the filet mignon 8oz and my husband and friends got the bone in ribeye. It was huge! Both were cooked very well and delicious. The ribeye is very marbled and has quite a bit of fat just as a warning. For sides, we got the jalapeño cheddar hash browns and Brussels. The hash browns did not look appetizing, I'll admit... had a huge slice of cheese just on top and weren't crispy at all BUT the flavor was there. We still enjoyed them. The Brussels were also tasty hit again not crispy, which is our personal preference. Again, still enjoyed them. We ended with the carrot cake and crème brûlée. The carrot cake was very good! The crème brûlée left something to be desired. Overall, very good experience and very happy with our meal. You won't leave for less than $200+ a couple though, so just know it's a splurge. read more

Went while visiting Chicago and wanted to go have a nice dinner so thought we'd check this place out. They had Prime Rib on a Tuesday so we went ahead and booked through OpenTable at around 5:30 PM. The vibes were very intimate and elevated. From checking in to getting seated it felt like everyone was there to help you, and actually wanted you there lol the service alone is 10 stars for the staff and we had multiple staff members help us and check in on us. Our water never went empty as the staff were just rounding and filling water up for everyone constantly. They were all just on standby waiting to help. When our food came it literally felt like a whole army was there to set our table lol which was nice but a bit overwhelming ngl. Now for the food... my partner and I started with the Wedge Salad which our server cut, tossed, and split the portions for us tableside which was nice. Very fresh and tasty, sauce wasn't overpowering and the bacon was really good. And tbh this was the best meal out of all the things we ate. For the steaks... my partner ordered the bone-in Rib Eye (medium-well) and I ordered the bone-in Prime Rib (medium-rare) and can I just say, if you're going to charge $100 for food it better be good. The prime rib was definitely underdone, it was just very heavy on the rare or maybe it's cus it was 32 oz so it was thiccc and bloody. It took me 30 plus chews just to get a piece down. Definitely not a melt in your mouth moment. The middle did not have flavor at all and just tasted like blood. I had to ask for A1 and creamy horseradish just to give it some flavor. It was really rough to eat ngl. I prolly could've asked for it to be changed but for $100, I expect them to do it right the first time. The rib eye was much better and very tender. Not as chewy as the prime rib so maybe it was just my order? Overall the vibes and the service were perfect... was going to give it 4 stars but every time I remember how the food tasted I had to dial it back. The service and the setting is really what took it home for me. The service was impeccable and the ambience was very festive and intimate with all the decors and the mood lighting (although it can get VERY LOUD AS THE PLACE FILLS UP). I was craving prime rib tho and was not satisfied at all so now I have to go look for a new prime rib spot (currently in detroit) cus this place did not satisfy my craving at all. Neuske bacon appetizer is an embarrassment to perhaps the best version of bacon I've ever had at Peter Luger. The lollipop baby lamb chops were if the babies had babies. $27 for 3 bullshit pieces. Chicago Cut. WOW! From start to finish, me and my two young boys were treated like royalty. From the doors being opened for us from the cold, to the hosts' gracious welcoming and offering to take our coats, to being seated and a plethora of people coming over to welcome us and make us more comfortable; I was blown away! Kind, inviting, and so patient with my children who are well-versed in the restaurant scene (as myself and their father are BOTH restaurant Managers) and they ask A LOT of questions. I had the pleasure of being visited by Alfredo and Matt during our dining experience which made the visit that much more enjoyable. The food was FANTASTIC. The ambiance was ON POINT. Appetizers - The "lobstercargot" is awesome and certainly worth ordering. 6 large pieces of lobster tail, smothered in garlicky cheesy goodness, baked and placed on little pieces of bread. Salad - Shared a wedge salad which was chopped (nice!) and split between two plates for us. Delicious and exactly what you expect from a steakhouse wedge. Steaks - We both got the filet and they were melt in your mouth tender. However, mine was definitely underdone a fair bit, thus the slight disappointment. When you're paying $70 for steaks, they need to be cooked perfectly. We dined early and it wasn't busy yet, so really no excuse there. Drinks - Excellent martinis, both the classic and espresso version. My old fashioned was just okay - they really need to switch to big ice cubes instead of making it like a regular drink on the rocks. Walking through downtown Chicago and not seeing a steakhouse on every block is impossible. With the abundance, picking out which one to go to can be tricky, but we landed on this place due to some random recommendation from the internet. Truth be told, we're pretty happy with it! First, the ambiance is hard to beat. The restaurant is located next to the river, flaunting beautiful views. The restaurant was buzzing, as there were tons of staff and diners. The nice part is that it's appropriate for an elevated dinner, such as date night, but it also welcomes a more casual gathering with family and friends. The staff was amicable and checked on our table at the right pace. Now, here comes the meat. We ordered the porterhouse (24 oz) and the 'Holy Grail,' which is 32 oz bone-in prime rib. For sides, we got the creamed spinach and asparagus. We requested our steak to be medium rare, and they were perfect. The prime rib was fattier, while the porterhouse was meatier--the latter won in our table. Regardless, we really enjoyed the steak! The steaks were served with a side of baked tomato and two sauces (horseradish and bearnaise?). The sauce was good, but I prefer having the steak alone. The bread basket was okay, and the asparagus was decent, but nothing special. The creamed spinach was pretty good, though! Overall, we were very happy with our dinner experience. Our experience here was top notch all around. We were seated along the water and it was perfect. Our waiter, Jordan, was excellent. He paid attention to detail and took time at our table. The manager came by and added on dessert free and chatted with us. We could not have felt more welcome here! It's worth noting the food was also amazing. Came here for a joint birthday party with a party of 8. They had our table ready within 6 minutes of our scheduled reservation. Waitress was attentive and noticed the birthdays and brought us out cake and candles at the end of our meal. I like the old school vibes of the place but it is packed and very loud with voices and music. I think we also saw some professional athletes in a corner booth. I also liked that they split all of our orders for us if we wanted like apps and sides. Table bread - loved the variety. The pretzel bread was a bit salty. I liked the sweat raisin cracker. I didn't like the sauce Ribeye - this was my favorite. Very juicy and tender Lamb chops - very tender and not too gamey. I didn't like the sauce, tasted kind of artificial Ny strip - a little drier than the ribeye. The a1 sauce also tasted artificial Chocolate cake - standard cake. The lady next to us had a yappy dog though, which I didn't appreciate. I don't believe a classy establishment should allow dogs on their patio. It kills the mood and its kinda gross honestly. We ordered the lobster escargot, a filet, and brussel sprouts. All so so delicious. We were then given TWO desserts for our special occasion which was so sweet of our server. Although this evens out because my boyfriend asked for two glasses of champagne, and when we got the bill they were $55 each. :/ I would've appreciated a question about preference, but I understand we could've been more clear as well. This is a tale of very very different experiences!! Service? Chris was truly outstanding!! Professional and attentive. We asked him to give us his best ideas and the ideas were perfect..appetizers, salads, steak etc. THE FOOD?? WHAT A LET DOWN!! steaks were perfect, first off. Medium is very slightly redder than I'm used to but still excellent. The lobster scargot? The cheese was browned but hard and chewy meaning it was not ready made but probably under a heat lamp. The exact same as the truffled scallop potatoes. There was not any gooey cheese. It was actually hard to chew!!! But browned. My lobster tails were FINGERS!! That's ok but they were overcooked and slightly warmer then room temperature. The carrot cake was cold. I have never had it cold but warmed. Maybe that's ok but I was disappointed. I understand I could have had it warmed. So that's the story! A 10 for ambience and service, and a two or three for quality of food. Outside of the steaks, which were excellent. Too many steak houses in Chicago to go back and say this was a favorite. We will probably move on and try another one. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Chicago Cut. We booked a party of 14 people. Many of the other downtown restaurants were not interested in booking 14 people in their dining room. However, Chicago Cut was very gracious when we explained that the booking was for a 50th anniversary celebration. From the moment we walked in, our table was perfect, right on the river. Our server, Julian, couldn't have been better. Juliian helped us order appetizers and then divided them equally so everyone got a taste of everything. The food was delicious. Almost all of us ordered steak, but a few ordered the fish and again everything was done perfectly. Because it was a 50th anniversary celebration, the restaurant comped us three wonderful desserts that we all got to share. For those whose wondering about their parking situation: Valet parking is $15 This review is 3.5 stars I came with a party of 4 and came 10 min early. My reservation was at 4pm and there was already a bunch of people lined up in the front by the door. Apparently, many others also have a reservation at 4pm but the hostess told us they would seat us at exactly 4pm. It was just really awkward to have everyone stand by the door and everyone was just blocking the entrance. They were actually late sitting us, but it's fine. At this point, we couldn't wait to order! People at my table had mixed feelings about the food but I thought it was good. I had the Miso sea bass and that was delicious! I thought it was the star of the show! Their Cajun rubbed ribeye was delicious. The lobstercargot was the biggest disappointment. It was underwhelming and I could've gone without it. The kale salad was refreshing and I enjoyed their Brussels sprouts. The ribeye however was too fatty for us to enjoy. This wouldn't be my go to steakhouse in Chicago, but you should stop by to try their Cajun rubbed ribeye and their miso sea bass if you've never had it! read more

The service was great, they were all over us like ants on sugar but when the main course came, I had the 14oz Strip which was good, my son had the same. My wife ordered the center barrel cut Filet.
