Stepping into Chicago Mike's Pizza in Gardnerville feels like entering a classic neighborhood pizzeria straight out of Chicago. The red and white checkered tablecloths, ample seating, and walls adorned with both local and Chicago-themed memorabilia set the perfect atmosphere. Our server, Jamie, was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We ordered the Beary Special thin-crust pizza, topped with real sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and black olives. It arrived steaming hot, with a generous amount of toppings. The crust was perfectly crispy--just the way my Chicago-born husband loves it. In addition to their amazing pizza, they offer Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, and delicious desserts. If you're in the area, or even if you have to drive, I highly recommend the trip!

The deep dish has been awesome both times we've visited and does justice to the Chicago style.

Pizza is really good, deep dish is a bit much for me so I prefer the thin crust, sauce is good, and so is the cheese

The egg plant was total shoe leather . I could not even bite into it and naw off a bite, so I didn't . I have all my teeth and want to keep them. . But I had ordered sliders and tacos . The tacos were the best of the lot . These were happy hour appetizers . I have been in the restaurant business most of my life and I am 65 now . Sorry to be harsh , but it was a total disappointment . Because I have been serving food most of my life , I also hate to complain. But the more I think about it , ya'll should fix it . I was trying to figure out what you actually did to the egg plant that made it that way? But again, service was awesome . I read rest of reviews , someone said they are opening in Reno. You should seriously get your shiz together before you try that or you may lose everything . You have many 5 star reviews, but wonder if they are friends or drinking heavily, the bad reviews are all pretty consistent . Seriously, would love to see more wonderful options in this area , would like to see you succeed . But to charge high prices and not fix what needs to be , is not good to open somewhere else . I will say I noticed little woman in the back , was kind of wondering if she was doing things properly sanitation wise . Looked a little iffy. But have noticed a couple reviews on that. Anyway, good luck.

We started with the garlic bread and smoked Gouda fried polenta. The garlic bread was perfectly toasted, and the smoked gouda fried polenta was a fun dish to try as it consisted of multiple nice flavors. Our entrees consisted of the fettuccine Alfredo and veal saltimbocca. The fettuccine was genuinely delicious, with my partner saying it's among the best she's had. The saltimbocca was dressed with a wine reduction that paired really well with the intense flavors of the prosciutto and veal. The risotto was tasty and had a flavor that also balanced well with the meat.

It was decent but not super amazing. 3.5/5 baby arugula salad, but swapped out for mixed greens. Reasonable portion, balsamic was tangy. The burrata was plentiful but a bit tasteless. Strawberries were sweet, and candied walnuts were hard to find but the presentation was good. 4/5 Carbonara with pancetta. Others in our group ordered with add-on chicken & salmon but I had as is. The chicken was a bit dry for my liking but the carbonara was very tasty with the pancetta. Added fresh ground pepper and parmesan and red chili flakes. The noodles were a bit thicker than I anticipated and it held the flavor well. 3/5 ravioli with chicken for the hubs. Chicken was a bit chewy, he wasn't crazy about the ravioli 4/5 special of the night was a Sole fish dish with angel hair. Sol was pretty crispy and tasty, the angel hair was okay - a bit wet which was interesting. 5/5 Service was excellent, Ricky was attentive and prompt & had great knowledge of the dishes. The vibe of the restaurant was dim and solemn. It was decent but nothing I'd crave or go out of my way to get again if I was in the area.

They turn the lights off in eight or nine weeks and if you haven't ever eaten here, thought about eating here, or been a regular, it's worthy of one last visit, that's what we did last night. The first thing we ordered was a glass of wine each and then we moved onto a bottle of Oak Farm winery Lodi Zinfandel. We started our meal with the risotto crabcake appetizer special. We got one crabcake each, and Lea and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. We then chose the swordfish special and the cioppino as our main courses, and, again we were happy with our decisions. This was our second visit to Cafe Fiore, and on both occasions, we found the service to be special and the environment to be warm and inviting. Some might even call the environment, cozy. I concluded my meal with the house made white chocolate ice cream, and Lea was able to resist as she was full. So you've got about eight weeks and reservations will, I'm sure, get quite hard to get the closer the end comes. This was the third of three restaurants that I would consider iconic at Lake Tahoe that are closing or have closed since October 2024. Change is constant, and now three great places are gone. The good news is one of the three, Edgewood, will re-emerge after a renovation of the space, but the Lone Eagle Grill and Cafe Fiore will be gone.

The roasted garlic bread was definitely my favorite! It's a good thing we did, because when we arrived there was a line of people and they were being told the wait time would be over an hour. There was a small wait time and we were finally led to the patio seating which we had requested. It was a beautiful patio with lights strung up and lots of plants. We were worried we would be hot outside, but all the greenery helped cool the temperature to a comfortable level. We found the pebbles were a bit awkward on the ground, especially if you wore heels. We weren't super hungry since we had desserts earlier, so my husband decided to go with the pan-seared chicken marsala. I got the classic lasagna with veggies on the side. While we waited for our food, we were given complimentary bread and butter, which was the perfect amount. We enjoyed the vibe and both agreed this patio would be amazing at night. My husband said the only problem he saw was the planes flying low, but there's not much you can do about that. Once our food arrived, everything looked great. He loved the marsala sauce on the chicken and he commented it was so tender he didn't need the knife. My lasagna was very good and hearty. We were both stuffed by the time we finished. Our waiter Garrett was very nice and helpful. They did seem alittle overwhelmed and we had to ask multiple times for certain items. He was pleasantly surprised to be given a birthday dessert with a birthday candle. Overall we both enjoyed this restaurant and would like to come back in the evening during fall to enjoy the patio at night.
