Just one mention of pizza, and I'm here for it! While on a two-week camping trip, we needed to make a grocery and fuel run. After stocking up on provisions, we decided to take a break from the usual camp food fare and order some pizza. We found Chicago Mike's on Yelp and are we so glad we did! We were impressed with the menu offerings: sammies, pizzas (naturally), and wings. Despite the wonderful variety, we each ordered a small thin crust pizza. My husband and his cousin ordered the Meaty Cowboy, and I ordered Canadian bacon and pineapple. The crusts were perfectly thin with the right amount of crisp and fluffiness. The toppings were plentiful but not overwhelming. Absolutely delicious! The server was attentive and friendly and efficient. We had such a wonderful meal that we returned a few days later just to enjoy some more yummy pizza! The pizza and service was just as great the se one time around. I wish Chicago Mike's was closer to our home, but I know the next time we go on our camping trip, a visit to Chicago Mike's will definitely be in our itinerary! read more

I love these people for opening this restaurant. I am from Chicago so this already has points there but the food is GOOD. I miss my Portillos but in a pinch the hot dogs from here will do! Made with ingredients from the area, it's very close to a taste from home. Staff- uber friendly and remembered us after the first visit (I was also uber prego then so I was hard not to miss but still) and they made us feel very welcome. Value - not cheap but worth every penny and fairly priced. 2 hot dogs with fries (add and extra dog) for about $10. Hubby also enjoyed the pizza and was uber bummed when we left it on the table on accident. Parking- Strip mall type parking but always enough spaces. Overall- I'd come back in a heartbeat. She's walking around without her nose covered and was leaning over talking to folks without her mask on properly. And people wonder why the west coast can't get their virus numbers under control! I have heard from multiple ex employees that the manager( a grown woman) talks bad about them behind the employees( teenagers) back, that is very strange in my opinion. I tried some of the food and it was soggy and unevenly cooked. All in all the ambience was very negative. If I could rate it zero stars I would but I can't so 1/5 stars will have to do. First visit review. I ordered a deep dish pizza and some garlic bread to go. Pizza - Overall not bad. The crust leaves a little to be desired, but again, not bad. The owner discriminates against service animals. You are not required by ANY law to show paperwork that your dog is a service animal. Under the ADA and Nevada's public accommodations law, a public accommodation may not ask you questions about your disability or demand to see certification, identification, or other proof of your animal's training or status. The owner demanded proof that my disabled daughter's dog was her service animal and refused to let us eat inside the establishment. This is the second time this restaurant has refused to let my daughter's service dog in the establishment. We will never eat there again ! read more

IGNORANT PEOPLE. Most individuals with disabilities group together due to the similarities in common. Our SERVICE dogs who went through extensive training and therefore us, were not welcome as we did not appear to have a disability. They did not even let us explain anything or try to educate them on the truth behind service dogs. We were clearly not welcomed in this establishment. I cannot support a business who does not support our community. Over half of the group were born and raised here in Gardnerville. This treatment is absolutely unacceptable. read more

I went alone, and expectations were high. Both of these factors probably contributed to the experience not matching my expectations. Beyond that, for a period of time as a youth I worked in small family run Italian deli, and Marco knew how to make a good marinara. I know I have an appetite, but not a big enough one to order a pizza, so I opted for the sausage sandwich. The sandwich had one sausage, marinara, sauteed bell peppers, and a side of french fries. Here's the problem, the marinara was not as flavorful as Marco's. Again, expectations exceeded reality. The service was good. There was a football team party happening while I was there, but I was not neglected and the noise was not too loud. It was a Thursday night, and so I had a great view of NFL game on the big screen. Some pretty damn decent pizza here! Located in Gardnerville just across from Wells Fargo, "Chicago Mike's" is a favorite among the locals and therefore, demanded my attention. After all, if the locals love it, chances are you will as well. I planned to have a late lunch here after spending the morning/early afternoon exploring the gorgeous little town of Genoa (officially one of my favorite places in the state). I arrived to the not-so-busy restaurant and thus, was greeted and seated quickly. Here's a little backstory to how "Mike's" came to be. Mike, originally from Chicago (hence the name), moved his family to Gardnerville in the early 70's with the dream of opening a Chicago style Pizzeria. Mike spent a few months seeking out a location for his restaurant but ultimately ran out of luck. This prompted Mike to move his family back home to Chicago. Mike still loved Gardnerville, though, and thus, moved back 28 years later. Only this time, he was focused on just enjoying his retirement among the Tahoe mountainscape. In 2017, Gina, Mike's Daughter, also moved to Gardnerville and it didn't take long for the dream of opening a restaurant to creep back into their minds. Joining forces, Mike and Gina turned that dream into reality by officially opening, "Chicago Mike's" in 2015. My first impression upon entering this establishment was a good one. As stated above, I was greeted and seated quickly and my waitress was super friendly. Looking at the menu, I was surprised to see that not only can you get the Chicago style deep dish pizza, but you also order thin crust as well (this is what I ordered and it's sliced in squares instead the traditional "pie" shape). They also feature Chicago style Hot Dogs, Sandwiches, and an assortment of appetizers of which, I ordered the, "Gouda Mac n' Cheese Bites". They were absolutely delicious! I have a weak spot for just about anything Gouda. When I was served my pizza (thin crust pepperoni) I thought for sure they forgot to add the pepperoni as there were none visible (see pic below). So I brought it up to my waitress and she pointed out that the pepperoni is actually underneath the cheese. Heads up in case you get the same. It was good. Very good. Not the greatest, mind you, but damn good. The ambiance is laid back, the walls are adorned with Chicago sports memorabilia, the service was great, and the pizza was hot and tasty. What more could you want? I highly recommend seeking this establishment out and giving it a try. Don't pick up the phone and dial into one of the many overly expensive and bland pizza chains. Been going here for 4 years. Hit or miss lately with service. Tonight we went with friends. We always do separate tabs. They told us no separate tabs. Janine our waitress seemed a bit snooty telling us it's on the menu. We found it in like a size 2 font at the bottom. She said we could still use 2 means to pay for the one bill? Ok so once we just figured Janine was having a bad day, we ordered 4 waters with extra lemon? She advised us that she is only allowed to give one lemon slice per cup of water? My wife asked who said that and she said the owner? My wife asked to talk to the owner and Janine said ok. But the owner never came. Now the food was good as usual. We have been here before twice where we ate and went to pay and they said their systems were down and had to pay cash. I had to leave, go to bank, take our cash and cone back. That I understand is out of their hands. Would've been good to know when we came in before we ordered instead of at the end. Now we ask when we go in if they are taking cards before we order. But what an embarrassing thing when she said no extra lemon. We skipped dessert for the first time. Guess we won't be going here anymore. Might have to start paying electrical fees for the lights we sit under while we are there. read more

Stopped here twice to grab a bite to eat, over a 4 day period. Food is still to-go, as no indoor seating is allowed yet due to the lame "pandemic" protocol. There is a place across the parking lot you could sit at if inclined, and it appeared they were in the process of completing an outdoor wooden deck of their own on the side of the building. The interior looks like a great place to relax and eat your food, so hopefully they will be allowed to open that area back up soon. The female co-owner was quite friendly and genuinely from Chicago (had that all telling accent). First time ordered a thin crust 'BEARS COMBO' ( Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Onion, Mushroom, Green Peppers & Black Olives). The pizza was good, but not great. It seemed to lack some sort of flavor, but I can't pinpoint was it was. It was not greasy and the thin crust was not burned. Nothing special about it jumped out at me. In conversation they bragged up their Italian Beef Sandwich and Chicago Hot Dog. I'm not a fan of all the loaded ingredients/toppings they put on the hot dog, so on my second visit I ordered the Beef Sandwich. It came with fries. The sandwich came on a soft roll and was fairly loaded, no complaints there. The beef was tender and not overly fatty (nor grisly). The Au Jus was good, but I did not care for the Giardiniera mixture which I did try (personal/subjective taste). The thin cut fries were crispy and not burnt. Because it was take out they provided ketchup packets, but forgot any salt packets (not that big of a deal, just FYI to ask for them if inclined). For me, just like the earlier noted pizza, nothing special jumped out at me. It seems like a majority of people don't really know how to rate experiences on Yelp, as an A-OK ratings is still a positive rating. I would eat here again, but just not necessarily pick it myself. Hands-down the best pizza joint in our town. First of all, it is a family owned business and I love supporting locally owned restaurants. We have several different places to get pizza in Gardnerville, however, no one compares to Chicago Mike's. They have two kinds of pizzas.....deep dish and thin crust. Personally, I have never been a fan of deep dish because it tends to be too filling and doughy. Well let me just say that my previous opinion of deep dish has completely changed once I ate here because this pizza was light, fluffy, cheesy, and absolutely delicious. We also had a thin crust pizza which was equally as outstanding. We ordered the Bear Combo which had Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, bell pepper, olives, and maybe a few other things. It is something that I would definitely order again as the thin crust is crunchy around the outside, but cooked just right throughout the rest of the pizza. If you can, order a thin crust and a deep dish to try each kind. It is worth the treat. My only suggestion is to make an improvement on the garlic bread. We ordered that as an appetizer and it was a huge disappointment. It really was just a roll, buttered, and toasted. We could taste absolutely no garlic, and if there was any garlic, it must've been in the form of garlic salt. If this is the way they are going to make garlic bread, then they really should just remove that from the menu because it really isn't anything but buttered bread. Other than that, everything was fantastic. Great service, fun atmosphere, some games for kids to play, and best of all of course is the awesome pizza. I always try to give a new place more than one chance and I'm glad I did. I now have a new appreciation for thin crust pizza. At this place, you have two choices, thin or deep dish. I have to say, the thin crust is very crisp and flavorful. I am able to taste the toppings and not just a mouthful of dough. The deep dish is a swing and a miss for me. In a perfect world, they would have something in between the thin and deep dish crust. Also a nice surprise was the Vienna beef sandwich which is equivalent to a French dip. I recommend it with their signature giardiniera on top and melted cheese. read more

I can't even find the words! This pizza is worth slapping ya grandma over, a lot of people think "Chicago" as deep dish Only but if you know Chicago and lived Chicago everybod there will tell you Chicago is a thin crust staple! And this pizza hit it outta the park! I was in town and love a thin crust margarita pizza it's my jam! They didn't have it but went above and beyond when I asked "hey, can you get it as close as you can?" Mannnnn add that to the menu!! I got the family size, just ask for cheese fresh tomato, garlic & basil you won't be disappointed. When leaving Navada I decided to risk missing my flight to Arkansas JUST so I could get a pie to go on the plane (they open at 11, my flight was at 12:40) I have nothing but love for this place and at 32 years old and after being in New York, LA, Detroit I will say it's the best pizza I've ever had! 10/10 keep it up. read more

You couldn't see distinct pieces of meat or anything. Seriously, look at the photo on the website. We went back to Chicago Mikes TWICE in a week, and this says it all. Both times we ordered bears comb in deep dish. I have never been to Chicago and thought I don't like deep dish, but Chicago Mikes changed my mind. The word on the street is that their cheesecakes are marvelous as well.
