Impulsively stopped in for lunch, as this restaurant always seems to be busy. I ordered the Number One chicken slider with fries combo. The chicken slider consists of one piece of chicken on a brioche roll with condiments including pickles and coleslaw. The combo comes with a generous portion of fries and sauces. I ordered the Seasonal Lemonade (Watermelon), which was refreshing and not too sweet. Everything was fresh and tasted just fine. However, $18 for lunch and a drink is a bit pricey for the portion size, which is not uncommon these days. Casual ambiance; you can eat in or take out. Service was helpful and friendly. Small parking lot and street parking available.

First time back here in about a year. Used to come all the time but moved away. I ordered and showed up at minimum 5-ish minutes later. I didn't expect the food to be ready but when I walked up to the counter no one acknowledged me or even noticed me. Only two workers and the guy at the register was on his phone! I waited then finally had to catch his attention. The other guy came from the back and was like "oh we just got it"... no you didn't. I saw the ticket hanging from the machine. Too busy on your phones not actively working. I looked around and the tables were messy, the chairs were sloppy and the trash was over flowing. If you don't have customers, you should be using the down time to make the restaurant clean for the customers. To make matters worse, they had inventory sitting in boxes in the back parking lot. My partner was sitting in the car waiting for me and she saw MICE running around the boxes and one came out the back door! Geez, what happened to this place? The A can't be correct. This is a far cry from the experiences I used to have here. The food tasted great, the patio was clean, and the workers were always so fast and friendly... what happened? I really hope the quality of the food is the same. We'll see... Update: Food was delicious, as always

Not bad at bad place for chicken tenders, but nothing really stands out to be quite honest. Menu is pretty simple. It's tenders, chicken sandwiches and fries. You can adjust the levels of heat as well, and it goes all the way up to bonfire-in-your-mouth. I got the medium and it had zero heat. I'd recommend anything above that if you like a little spice. The sandwiches are actually sliders with the tenders inside and you can get them with fries. If I come here next time, I'd probably just go with the tenders as they give you more meat for your buck. As for the fries, just basic shoestring. Mine were a bit overcooked, yet didn't have much crisp at all. Came with a spicy mayo dip that they put in the sliders as well. Seats are all outdoor, but at least covered. Probably best to just grab and go. Not sure if I'd come back as there are just too many options out there for fried chicken.

Chick Next Door is a local Fried Chicken place nestled on Chevy Chase and Glenoaks in Northeastern Glendale. They offer decent light, spicy hot chicken at a reasonable price. Our family got as takeout a slider, three tenders, and fries. The tenders were decent, lightly battered, juicy, and accompanied by a spicy peppery dipping sauce. Aside from being light they were good but nothing unique nor mind blowing. Following was the slider, a slightly larger tender topped with tangy slaw and sauce on a slightly sweet bun. Again great but not mind blowing. The sauce was a little too spicy for my liking, with the pepper overpowering the other flavors. Better to leave the spice on the chicken so your sauce consumption isn't limited by your spice tolerance. Fries were good and well seasoned, but not exceptional, and the Mac and cheese appropriately al dente with a decent sauce while not overly heavy. Service was reasonably fast (wait time 5 minutes). The outside area was relatively clean but spartan, and not especially inviting. Perhaps it was the time of day, but this place is better served for takeout. Prices were reasonable (see photo) but not exceptional. Chick Next Door promises what its name suggests; local, decent fried chicken. Good if you're in the area and want a relatively light, tasty bite, but not worth a detour. Food: 4/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value: 4/5

Stopped by here since I was in the area and needed to grab a lunch. Parking is hit and miss. Depending on time/day, there is a shared parking lot next door. Otherwise there's some street parking. Order from the window and either get to go or there's a small patio area to eat there. I got a combo 1 - slider and fries. Be aware that these are sliders so one may not be filling. Taste wise the slider was okay. Had decent flavor and crunch but not the best I've had. The fries were pretty good. Good crunch and flavor. The sauce they provide went well with the fries. It had a little bit of a spice. Personally I wouldn't make the trek out here just for the chicken slider, but everyone has their personal preference on how a Nashville chicken sandwiches should be.

Was up in Angeles Crest for a photoshoot and decided to stop by Chick Next Door for some food. Ordered the slider / tender combo and Steve's Fries. Ordered through the website while I was on my way here to save some time and my order was ready about a minute after I arrived. Friendly workers offered extra sauce and utensils, cool little dining/waiting area as well. Parking area extremely small be prepared to park on the street or make your own parking space Unfortunately the spice levels were very inconsistent. If the spice levels were better, this spot can definitely be a 5/5 for me. Slider 3/5 Mild Heat level. Tasted naked but the coleslaw was a nice touch, nice and juicy chicken with crunchy breading, would definitely order again Tender 3/5 Medium heat level. Once again tasted naked, no heat whatsoever. Juicy chicken and crunchy breading though, would definitely order again regardless of it not being spicy Fries 4/5 These fries remind me of rally's fries. Absolutely love the fries here, would definitely recommend plain fries over Steve's fries. Steve's Fries 2.5/5 I personally would stick to their tenders or sliders combos and have plain fries over these fries. Maybe it was due to the lack of heat from the chicken but these fries were just okay.

Pretty solid spot. Excellent customer service, good food, cute location. The spice is NOT spicy enough for me so next time I'll do the don't chicken out option EZPZ. I did the combo 4 and the supreme fries, and while everything was good just expect smaller than typical portions. BUT, it is really good. The chicken was fried to a golden crisp, but the tender was a little small. The components of the actual supreme fries are okay on their own but definitely magic when combined. Anyways, this spot is yum!

GREAT! The food was great! I ordered a small but got upgraded to large. They have the BEST pickles I've ever had. Food was warm and flavorful. The service was excellent! Very nice and friendly staff. The vibe was nice, chill. Definitely worth the trip.

Off the HOOK tenders!!! They're a MUST TRY!!!!

WHAT A FIND!!! So decided to try Chick Next Door and BAM!!! Was beyond a pleasant surprise! Chicken tender(s), (bet you can't eat just one!) were in the top 5 in the City! They were moist, breaded perfectly, tender and juicy! That's rare with so many spots doing the same, BUT, these were a step beyond! They comped me a slider which was an 7.5, so I was stoocked with the Tenders! Fries and Tea were top also, TOTALLY HOMEMADE sauces and dips too! Priced right and hours perfect for my lifestyle! Got a new Go-To and highly recommend this clean and pleasant establishment.

    Slider and fries. Very tasty.

Quick and to the point. No crazy menus and they have a good heat meter. My son loved the country style tenders.

Reviews looked solid, so we decided to come back to try the place ourselves. Plaza is very limited - and there's a ton of cars with the nearby businesses. Recommend parking on the street. Also, don't be deterred by the people waiting around. Most of them were waiting for to-go orders and we were seated immediately. Interior has a very old-time diner feel. Decor hasn't been updated, but I think that's the overall charm of the place. Menu is straightforward - if you order the lunches, the portions are smaller while the dinners are a little heftier on the portions. We went with the two piece chicken and waffle for $17.86 and the chicken dinner (3 pieces of chicken, 2 side orders, and 1 roll) for $20.56. And with the lunch/dinner orders, you are able to add an additional drumstick for a dollar, so we were able to add 3 extra drumsticks for $3. They have the option of spicy chicken and regular chicken. If you like spicy, then definitely give it at try. I felt like the seasoning of the spicy chicken was more on the cajun/smoky side and it was pretty spicy where I couldn't taste much of the chicken. I personally preferred the original. Breading was on point and upon breaking into the chicken - wow, super moist and juicy. Came with ranch and their special cajun spicy sauce. For our sides, we ordered the cajun fries and the mashed potatoes. Cajun fries were a bit too much, but the mashed potatoes tasted homemade. Rolls weren't anything too special. I think I really enjoyed the waffle most of all. Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. Portion was fairly big and I finished maybe two pieces before getting full. Adding on a pat of butter and drizzling on that syrup - perfection! Workers were really friendly and helpful. If you pay with cash, you get a discounted price versus paying with credit card. They also offer an assortment of pies! Super glad I was able to try this place out - will be back if I'm ever in the area and craving fried chicken.

Lots of it. Every bite is going to be juicy. If there was a comparable, I'd probably say Shake Shack's smash burger. It's about the same size and has the same soft bun. But Cluck's blows it away. Easily. - Fries - 8.5/10: seasoned extremely well, these are extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Comes with two dips of their burger sauce and ketchup. By the way, their sauce is excellent. Most burger sauces are too tarty. Theirs are well-balanced with some heat. - Six piece wings - 8/10: dry rubbed. Got these in mild. He can have a burger, but not onions or anything spicy. The menu boards were not specific enough so we had to ask a lot of questions when ordering. No one was waiting. It would have been nice if we had been treated with a little more understanding because all we were trying to do was to order a meal that would make us happy. As it was... My crispy taco was disappointing. The shell was execrable. After the first bite I broke the shell away to find a few tiny bits of chicken inside that were tasty and cooked nicely with a little bit of lettuce, tomato bits and cheese. I asked for a fork and ate it like a mini salad. Actually more like an amuse-bouche. The beef in my husband's burger lacked flavor. We make burgers at home with quality beef and this did not taste anything like. We asked for lettuce and tomato on the burger and that was okay, but when hubby said he wanted mayo on his burger he was told that was not an option. We did the best we could to order it in a way that he would enjoy but had to give up on that. We should have given up and gone somewhere else at that point, but we were hungry. Turned out the burger was worse than the taco. If we had just ordered the taco and burger, we would have called the meal a complete waste of our time and money. The guy at the counter offered to put the sauce that they usually put on the burgers on the side. He did and we tasted it when it came to our table. It was spicy, so it was a good call not to put it on the burger. It was also delicious. I bet anything tastes better with that sauce, so maybe that explains the tasteless beef. The seasoned fries were the best thing we ate. They came out hot and tasting of real potato. Besides seasoning they have something crispy on the outside that made them special. Hubby ate the fries without the sauce and enjoyed them. I dipped the fries in the magical sauce and it made them even better. Go there for the fries.

We were spending the day with her in the City of Angels to run some errands and help her out and as a treat for our hard work, she wanted to treat us and to see if we concur with her lofty assertion. HR lived up to her hype and I can't wait to eat the leftovers we brought home after dining at this chicken sando institution. For me, it's definitely THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I'VE EVER EATEN. Besides the spectacular grub, what I truly was impressed with was the GREAT customer service from Rico and his coworkers. There are two Howlin' Ray's in Los Angeles. The one we visited was located in Pasadena and their first location can be found in Chinatown. Both locations are popular with diners, so I recommended you visiting when the doors open. The Pasadena HR is next to Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee, it's across the street from Petco and Turner's Outdoorsman, and it's just down the road from WaBa Grill and a Starbucks. This was my wife and my first visit to HR and our daughter brought us here before 5pm. Please don't be discouraged by the long line of diners waiting to enter the restaurant. The staff do a great job getting the diners through the ordering counter and finding seats for customers wanting to dine in. You'll wait in line, order your food from the register, and then wait until a table opens up. The tables consists of booths inside and tables and chairs outside under a covered patio. The customer service from the young lady at the order counter, Rico and the team ensuring that diners are seated and taken care of, and the employees expediting the food was customer friendly and customer focused. The employees were so kind, hard working, and I was really impressed by their top notch customer service. Major props to the owners for making customer service a priority. Delicious food will make customers gravitate towards a restaurant, but when combined with impeccable customer service, I understand why customers like my daughter swear by Howlin' Ray's. Yo HR ownership group, San Diego needs one of your restaurants and I can assure you that customers will inundate your restaurant. I wanted to order as much as I could from their menu, so that I could verify if the hype was real. The hype is real folks!! I ordered The Sando, Shake Fries, Collard Greens, Potato Salad, and Sweet Peach Tea. We also ordered the following dipping sauces, which are must orders: Comeback Sauce, Tennessee Tang, and Sweet Money Mustard. Their Sando comes with a boneless breast, slaw, comeback sauce, and pickles encapsulated in a butter bun. I'm a fan of spicy chicken sandwiches, so for my spice level, I chose Medium. I wanted to enjoy my food, which is why I went with medium. Rico gave me a sample of a Medium Plus piece of chicken and I'm so glad I chose medium. Medium Plus was really hot, so imagine what the high spice levels taste. The Sando was huge, the chicken was tender and flavorful, and the components all ate really well together. Their collard greens were juicy and satisfying. Arguably some of the best I've eaten. The potato salad was creamy and dill infused. So yummy!! Loved their seasoned shake fries, which were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing after dipping them in the variety of sauces. I am definitely a Howlin' Ray's convert and wholeheartedly concur with my daughter's positive accolades of this chicken sandwich institution. Not only was their food memorable, but the customer service from their staff matched the greatness of the grub. If you're in Los Angeles, visit Howlin' Ray's.
