This was my second trip to Chickadee in a month and both times the service and food were fantastic AND, there is parking out front! I did not like their signature dish, fried chicken, but i don't really like fried chicken, even if it is gourmet. The only advice to the restaurants is to lower the lights a little .. it would make the ambiance better and not have the overhead lights blaring down at you. read more

Loved our dinner here at this great new spot. Understated, modern, casual atmosphere presents a nice backdrop for the excellent, well executed chow. After reading the nice reviews and knowing the strong resumes of the principles, Ted Kilpatrick and chef John DaSilva, we came with high expectations... and we weren't disappointed. Loved the Chickpea Fries served piping hot... a must try. The Sour Cream + Onion Donut was good. Steak Tartare w/cauliflower... excellent. My wife loved the Marinated Beets. Roasted Brussel Sprouts... perfect, so good. The Radiatore Di Grano Arso with bbq rabbit, longhorn pepper, ricotta salata was a thing of beauty... perfectly cooked pasta, excellent meld of flavors. The Featherbrook Farm Chicken was excellent as well... crisp skin and moist chicken breast. The had some white truffles which we added, but will be awesome without as well. For dessert, Citrus Sorbet with fresh tangerines... a perfect and refreshing ending to an excellent meal. Service from Max was excellent. My wife's cocktails were made with exact precision. Wine by the glass for me... limited but well chosen list, appropriate wine glasses are much appreciated. This place is a winner... can't wait to return. read more

Loved EVERYTHING about this place! From the snacks to the service, Chickadee proved to be a total package. Our server Ashton was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, as were all the staff who interacted with our table. Drinks were stellar (and cold, which is my preference) and the food was amazing. To start, we tried the Beet Salad, Fried Cauliflower, and the Chickpea Panisse Fries. Holy smokes. I could have each of these plates every day! Next, we had the Half Chicken and Lumache. These dishes did not disappoint. This spot is good for drinks after work, date night, or small groups. The bar is a great open space with tall tables, and opposite this is the dining area. The Innovation Building just got an awesome addition to its rapidly expanding dining scene! We came for a Saturday dinner on their opening weekend, and was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Chickadee's interiors surely echoed the spirit of its host building - industrial, yet vibrant and modern at the same time. While most restaurants are struggling with acoustics when they opt for a concrete flooring, Chickadee's thoughtful ceiling design mitigates the issue. One of my restaurant pet peeves is having to yell during the meal, and I didn't have to do such during my visit. Lighting was excellent as well, the space was well lit and I had no difficulty reading the menu (which is another pet peeve of mine.) All of the dishes we ordered was great - each of them exudes strong personality. Our favorites were the chickpea fritters (fried to perfection - very smooth texture on the inside!), fried cauliflower, and the cavatelli dish which has a very interesting lemony flavor profile into it. But the star has to be the Luvache with Lamb and Fava Beans - the pasta dish tasted like nothing we had before. Lamb was tender, and the sauce's sourness & savoriness complemented the condiments perfectly. You would not go wrong with any of their pasta options. The half portion option is also a big bonus point! Overall, we were very, very happy with our dinner. Service was fast and efficient - we will definitely make another visit sometime soon! read more

A definite star in my eyes. This place has such a unique menu of American and Mediterranean that you instantly want to try everything on the menu. My friends and I split some snacks and small plates to start. The sour cream and chive donut was an interesting little dish. Delicious, don't get me wrong... but you could skip it if you're not totally curious about it. Kind of reminded me of a bagel and cream cheese. The beets with pistachios and goat cheese was delightful. But again, a dish that's ingredients could never really go wrong. However, the cucumber salad was a star. The mix of cheese and fresh vegetables was amazing. Don't past this up. Also, the crab gratin was also very good. Be warned that they don't give you enough pork rinds to dip if you have more than two people splitting. My main dish still has my mouth watering. The lamb ragu pasta. Oh my. So good. Don't last this up. Also-cocktails. Wow! So unique. Again, wanted to try all of them. My friend got one with snap peas that was so tasty! read more

Carrot salad and squid ink pasta were bomb. What's so good about carrot salad, I thought. Then, my mind was blown. The combination of cumin, avocado, candied nuts, citrus, and differently prepared carrots was so complex yet refreshing. Definitely recommend this one. The squid ink fusilli was a bowl of hearty, flavorful pasta. You'll receive a combination of seafood and salted pork (the soppressata), absolutely delicious. The duck breast was good, but not amazing. I'm not sure if hummus and mint were the best choice of accompaniments. One complaint I had was the noise. It is really loud in here, and it's hard to have a conversation without shouting across the table. Both my party and the table next to us were celebrating a birthday. The waiter came to offer some wine, on the house. What a nice gesture. But next time, PLEASE don't put us right next to each other. At the end of our meals, their dessert came with a cute little candle, but our dessert had no candle on it :( read more

Had a really great lunch here! Decor is industrial chic, lively vibe. Servers are friendly and attentive. We started with two dips - the tzatziki and pimento feta which were both fantastic, and the accompanying pita was fluffy and delicious. The pita sandwiches overall were incredibly delicious. Our only comment was that the pita bread was a bit too thick in spots and overpowered the stars of the show (halibut and chicken). Both had a fabulous tang from the pickled peppers (halibut) and pickles (chicken). A great foray into and play-up of fermentation that you don't see at many places. Had the "Tern Around" cocktail (gin, grapefruit, rosemary, cava) which was super refreshing and well-balanced. Definitely worth a journey to the area! read more

Ate here at the bar with my boyfriend last night. Fantastic. Service was perfect, our bartender... she was fabulous and super friendly. I got the mezcal drink and it was really yummy and unique. We ordered the trout dip and the octopus to start. Both were really good. We ordered the duck to share after that. I guess the chef had just added it to the menu the same day. It was so, so good. The place is in a really cool - multi-functional like .... delivery pier turned 'tech/biotech' innovation center ... so very 21st Century NOW and 'baby we're in the cool(er) part of Boston - the SEAPORT' ready ... ish. The dining room has a unique footprint. We were put ... in what felt like ... the waiting salon for the lobby ... of a solid contemporary Kimpton hotel. Cool enough but there are curtains, that kind of stand in, for movement and airiness. But it also felt like, if a road warrior with roller luggage trundled past in a rumpled suit, searching for Southwest Air boarding pass on their phone ... it wouldn't have been entirely surprising. I believe there's more of a 'main dining room' - but ....... let's just say the dining room set up is ... interesting. Good thing the food carries the burden of potential for this place. Probably my favorite restaurant in Boston!! Have been here around 5 times now and have always had a fantastic experience. Chickadee has an amazing combo of yummy and relatively light food, classy & seek yet warm ambience, reasonable prices, and great service. Since it's a bit out of the way, we've never had trouble with crowds or finding a table, though it helps to call ahead or make a res. Our favorite spot is at the high tables with a view of the kitchen. - Dinner and lunch have completely different menus but both are excellent and have good vegetarian and sharing options - For dinner, squid ink fusili & lobster campanelle are my favorites - delicious, rich, a decent portion size - The grilled carrot salad is my bf's favorite & very refreshing & big portion size but a little too spiced for my taste - For lunch, the black bean hummus, olives, and porchetta pita are great and overall very healthy read more

Chickadee has quickly become one of my absolute favorite restaurants. I've only been there for dinner so far a few times, but planning to head over for lunch in the very near future! I'm 99.9% sure that there's probably nothing on the menu that ISN'T amazing. It's honestly so hard to choose what to order - always one of the best problems to have. I love that the menu also changes seasonally so there's new things to try all the time. If you're trying to pick a restaurant by reading reviews, take my word for it and just go here. read more

We will be back! This is likely our new fave in the Boston Seaport. Everything was above and beyond tasty on the palate. It is all tapas so be sure and ask about portion sizes and shareable status. If you haven't tried this place, it is certainly worth a try. I went here with a friend for an early Saturday dinner. We made a reservation for 2 and were directed to a table outside. The menu looked very interesting. I started off with a coffeehouse porter beer and we placed orders for the chickpea frites and the fried cauliflower, along with one order of the "half" fried chicken. The food came out fairly quickly, but I must say that it was decadent. The chickpea frites were very addictive and creamy, and I almost wanted to order more and more of it (but didn't). The fried cauliflower was good too. The highlight though was the fried chicken. The half portion itself was very generous -- enough for two people to share. The hummus was perfectly flavored and the cashew- cauliflower rice side was very good. I also really liked the biscuit that came with it. Totally worth it. We ended with the dessert- we got an ice cream sandwich platter that had flavors of caramel and cigs and it was delicious. Overall, if you feel like having Mediterranean flavors but blended with traditional modern American food, this is a must try. The servers were polite and professional and very attentive to our needs. Rating is going to be 50% for food, 30% for service and 20% for everything else. I am going to give 5 stars for all of them, so this is a 5 star rating from me. read more

I brought my "dinner club" group here and had a fantastic experience. First, the service was exceptional; very prompt and the waiter had a great sense of humor. The food was delicious and well-priced. We ordered a large assortment of items to share: the grilled carrot salad, dip trio, chickpea fries, several pastas, and large fried chicken platter. Everything was cooked perfectly and the chicken platter was an epic amount of food. I was really pleased to see a lot of fresh herbs in the dishes, and a lovely balance of salty savory sweet and spicy. The cocktails were also a home run; they use really good clear ice and clearly have a talented bartender. Check this place out! read more

I didn't do much research on Chickadee before I chose this place to meet an old friend of mine. I was assuming it'd be a casual restaurant, like Chipotle for Mediterranean food. Nope. LOCATION: This restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. It's only accessible by one line on the public transportation, and getting to the silver line is kind of a pain in the ass. However, this restaurant is definitely worth the trek. FOOD: My friend and I chose a couple of plates to share. 1) Bluefin Tuna Crudo: Tuna is mixed in with watermelon for a refreshing taste. It's got a bit of a kick to it. Not the best dish of the night, but a great starter. 2) Bintje Potato Skins: This was one of our server's favorites. My friend and I were like, "Really? Potato skins?" But we could tell why. You get 6 skins, 3 with steak tartare and 3 with Maine lobster. What a classy way to make potato skins not feel so heavy. One of the highlights. 3) Fried Cauliflower: Also a highlight. Cauliflower + burrata (cheese) + figs = a meal I need to learn how to make. Maybe the both of us just love cauliflower too much... nevertheless, a good break for our stomachs. 4) Squid Ink Fusili: I can't remember too much about this dish... so maybe try something different. It definitely wasn't bad because I would have remembered otherwise. 5) Ice Cream Sandwiches (carrot cake & brown butter-walnut): Also a surprise! Stopped in for lunch and was impressed. Ambience felt slightly upscale yet understated. Menu is broken down into: dips, vegetables, pita sandwiches, and entrees. We ordered the black bean hummus and pimento feta dips to start. Dip portion is pretty small, but both were very flavorful! The irresistibly soft pita that comes with it is arguably the best part. For lunch, I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. It was pretty darn good - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside (almost too tender for my liking), with tangy pickles and sauce! Came here to celebrate our anniversary and July 4th and we couldn't have had a better experience! Honestly we were a little apprehensive about dining out (#pandemic), hence went on the earlier side just in case. The outdoor dining area is very spacious, with at least 6 feet between tables. Our server was so lovely and attentive. Our emerging-from-COVID-solitude jitters all melted away. Drinks were fantastic -- had an Old Fashioned with a large rock, a daiquiri, and a mocktail. All were delicious. Proceeded to order way too much food (the excitement of eating a meal not cooked ourselves). The smoked trout dip was very generously sized, delicious, surprisingly filling. Got the beets and carrots as well; our favorite of the two was the carrots, could eat it all day. The radiatore is very rich, great smoky bbq pork. The half fried chicken is a LOT of food and so worth it. Probably the best fried chicken we have had in Boston - perfectly seasoned and super crunchy. Subbed out the beans for hush puppies, which we could eat buckets of. Had a lot of food we had to take home! Wish we had saved room for dessert! This is a wonderful restaurant, and we will definitely be coming back to support them! It's been awhile since I've obsessed over a new restaurant and Chickadee's got me good! I love everything about this place from the cute decor to the amazing food. I never loved pita and dips as much as I love Chickadee's pita and it's simple yet delicious dips - highly recommend the Kohlrabi tzatziki, so light and refreshing yet still very flavorful. The star of the lunch menu has to be their pita sandwiches, especially the crispy chicken; the fried chicken is super juicy and moist and smothered with a very tasty aioli all tucked in a warm and fluffy pita. The fried halibut and spicy cauliflower were also great choices, so it doesn't matter if you prefer meat, seafood, or vegetables, you can't go wrong with their pitas! I've been here twice for lunch and I can't wait to come back to try their dinner menu. read more

One of the best meals I've ever had. The dips and spreads starter was superb (our favorite was the pimento-feta spread) and the Moroccan carrot tartare was a great vegetarian option. The chickpea panisse fries were unlike anything I have ever had before and ate a must to try. For small plates we enjoyed the blistered shishito peppers immensely. For pasta dishes we had the chive spaetzle (delicious but very rich) and the green garlic bigoli (not my favorite-maybe a little undercooked). The fried chicken was HUGE and easily a meal for 3 People with AMAZING cheddar biscuits. Service was great, loved our waitress Becca. My only caution is pace yourself! my family and i were so pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food here was! even though the menu is relatively short, they executed every single dish wonderfully from taste to presentation. -there's plenty of socially distanced tables located both outside and inside the restaurant. the ambiace is great for meals with coworkers or family members. you can make a reservation in advance through resy. -we were seated almost right away even though we didn't make a reservation. after ordering, we waited around 30 minutes for our food. our waiter was really nice to us and attentive! -both cash and card payments are accepted, i think. 9/1/21 -grilled carrot salad: this comes with carrot shreds, avocado hummus, fresh citrus, and hazelnut dukkah. every single bite of this was so flavorful and refreshing! the size of the dish wouldn't be enough for one person, but it's a good salad to share with others. it was $15, which i think it pretty fair. (4.5/5) -crispy fried chicken: apparently, this is was voted the best fried chicken in boston. you can order half a chicken for $36 or the whole chicken for $60, but we just got the half to share. it came with 4 large pieces (3 chicken breasts and 1 chicken leg, i think). there seemed to be much more of fried layer than actual chicken meat, but each bite was super crunchy and crispy. the flavor was also pretty good, but nothing special. on the side, you also get sugar snap pea salad with radish and ricotta salad, 2 spiced cheddar biscuits, honey butter, and ranch. we loved the snap pea salad and the cheddar biscuits since we've never had anything like it before. the portion was pretty fair for the price, so i don't have any complaints. i probably would've rated it lower if the chicken didn't come with sides. (4.5/5) -lobster campanelle fra diavolo: this pasta dish comes with calabrian chili, crispy garlic, and chives. it's supposed to be kind of spicy, but it didn't taste that spicy when i tried a couple of bites. the lobster flavor was kind of lacking, but the sauce was really delicious. it costed $25, which is kind of expensive. however, the portion was still filling. (4/5) -ricotta cavatelli: this pasta dish also comes with finocchiona salami, fresh chickpeas, wild rapini, and green harissa. i mostly enjoyed this dish because of how cheesy it tasted, but it was quite salty. the portion was really filling, and i would say it is somewhat worth the $23. (4.5/5) -squid ink fusilli: this is one of their most popular dishes, and i can definitely understand why. the fusilli comes with sopressata salami, tomato, and a squid ink & olive bread crumb. every bite of this was so delicious and i really enjoyed it a lot. however, the portion of sopressata was really small and it was also on the salty side. however, it's one of the cheaper pasta options at $19 and will still fill you up. (4.5/5) overall, this restaurant definitely deserves more attention. we had one of the best experiences here and would totally come back in the future; i just wish that they had more options available on their menu. my favorites that i would recommend you must try would be the squid ink fusilli, ricotta cavatelli, spiced cheddar biscuits (which came with the crispy fried chicken), and the grilled carrot salad. read more

This has been on my list for a while. The atmosphere is eclectic but calming and the menu is phenomenal. Fantastic drinks- bartender is working hard the whole evening. Chickadee just feels special when you walk in. The food is incredible, I've been often enough to have sampled most of the menu and let me recommend: 1. Squid ink fusilli - to die for, every time 2. Trout dip - melts like a beautiful smoked salmon, I'd bathe in that dip 3. Scotch olives - newer item for me, but up on the pantheon Those are just my preferences, the porchetta is also sublime, but that trio above is my personal favorite meal in all of Boston. Other reasons for the 5 stars. The staff is great, really well done to get this team together, the music is the right volume, the aesthetic is calming. Every time I go I am able to relax, connect with people and have a wonderful evening. Prices aren't bad at all, I've followed these chefs around Boston a bit and it feels like a steal to me. Recommend recommend recommend. Places like this make me wish I never gave out 5 stars just so this could be my only recommendation. Interior is suave - I would recommend it as a date spot or drinks with friends or coworkers. I think technically you're not supposed to park there after six, but they are pretty lenient(don't take this as advice, if you get a ticket or towed it's at your own risk). read more
