This is the 2nd time that I have gone to the Tomball Chicken Express location and received chicken tenders that were so old and so hard that I could not bite into them. I called and spoke with Lacy the manager and her response was that she personally dropped 30 tenders at the time I was there. I'm wondering why none of those 30 fresh cooked tenders made it in to my box. I also ordered corn nuggets and asked for a side of Ranch. The employee stood in front of me and said she personally put the Ranch in the box. When I got home, there was no Ranch in the box. I will be calling the Health Department for the overcooked and cold tenders that they decided to pass off as fresh cooked tenders. This is totally unacceptable. The spicy chicken strips were amazing and my daughter loved her kids meal. The packaging was also so nice. I will definitely be ordering again! I literally love the chicken and catfish fillets, but what ruins the food is the lack of "I give a crap" employees...I order once or twice a week spend upwards of $30 per order. Tonight we got no gravy, the fried okra was burnt, they were too busy goofing off with the customer in front of me at the drive thru...ordered a 7 piece and got 5, must be because the employee can't count past one hand...super disappointed. I don't know why I even stop here. My order is never right. We stopped in the drive through and ordered #4, 2 breasts, green beans, no drink extra rolls. Even says it on my receipt, but no extra rolls. Probably a good thing, the roll tastes like it had been dipped in bug spray. Husband ordered #1, sweet tea with fries. Sat in line waiting for fries for 5 min...get fries and a VERY small order in the box the extra rolls normally come in, not with his food. So when I looked at what was in the bag it appeared that all was in there. Lesson learned, not really interested in coming back and trying for a third time. Y'all, we eat at this Chicken Express all the time, especially on Sunday. Today my son wanted to try the Popeyes sandwich. So the plan was to go to Popeyes in Tomball just to get the sandwich and then go eat at Chicken Express down the road. Well we didn't get the sandwich from Popeyes. It was a nightmare at Popeyes. I posted a review if you want to read, but this is about Chicken Express. The difference when we walked into Chicken Express than when we went into Popeyes was night and day. There was no line at Chicken Express like at Popeyes, and there were many people seated and enjoying their food, unlike Popeyes where no one was seated because no one had their food OR drinks because they had no soda at all. It was quiet and there were several games on the TVs unlike Popeyes where there was chaos behind the counter and frustrated hungry customers in front of the counter. At Chicken Express the manager greeted us and took our order and we got our sodas and sat down and we got our food in a timely manner which was brought to us by a friendly employee without even a hint of attitude, quite unlike Popeyes who if they look at you it's because you are bothering them. If you think I'm exaggerating, please go there on ANY day and especially Sunday around 12:30. You will see exactly what I mean; and then come on down to Chicken Express and have a good meal watch some football and relax. read more

Well where do I begin. I love chicken Express back home but the one here stinks. I ordered 30 tenders meal plus another 15 tenders and was told that they were out of mac and cheese and would not be making anymore (rudely I might add) and 30 tenders only come with 5 sauces and that the gravy with my mashed potatoe side negates those. EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT!!! Do yourself a favor and SKIP Chicken Express in TOMBALL & go to CANE's, less than 1/2 mile down the road. Much better food and their employees don't have the incompetence and attention span of a 4 yr old. After a long, hard day at work I decided to run thru the drive thru at Chicken Express in Tomball- it was around 8:30 and chicken express is about 10 minutes from my home. I ordered a 7pc chicken strip dinner and had planned on sharing it with my husband when he gets in from work (he works nights). I was charged $13.74 for my meal. When I got home I sat the food on the counter until I completed unloading my groceries. When I opened the box, it was now 8:55 when I realize that the 7-piece that I paid for had only 3 very small chicken tenders inside, with the sides that I had chosen. I immediately call chicken express before they close to let them know of the issue and see how they wanted to handle it. I was told by the young girl in the phone, "do you want to come in and get the rest of your order?" To which I replied, "ma'am, I know this is probably not your fault, but every single time I come here, they can't get a basic order correct - this is the 5th wrong order ytd that I've had to come back to get the correct order after already getting home (this is the exact reason I haven't been to chicken express in Tomball in 6 months). I have to waste my own time and my own fuel to retrieve what I've already paid for? I'm tired- the last thing I want to do is drive 10 minutes back to pick up this order- she was pleasant and accommodating. She said, ma'am we are understaffed and have new people working-come back up here tonight and we will refund your purchase and remake your order for free. So I tell her that I'll be there in 10 minutes or so. When I arrive at the drive thru, a Hispanic man is now taking the orders and serving at the window. I let him know that I had spoken to a female and that my order was not complete. He was rude and condescending. He started with "WUT, what are you talking about?" I Said sir, I paid $14 for a 7 pc and only received a 3 piece. I drove all the way home and then drive all the way back to pick up the food that I've ALREADY PAID FOR. He simply replied "pull up to the window". Upon moving forward to the window, "Luis" who claims to be the manager hands me a small box with 3 very small tenders inside. No apology, no refund, nothing more than a nasty attitude when he handed me the food - almost like he was angry that I would come back for the food I had already paid for. I opened the box in front of him and asked "what is this, I ordered a seven piece??" Luis, the manager, said "Yeah, that's it!" to which I replied, " I got out of my house to make a SECOND TRIP up here to get WHAT IVE ALREADY PAID FOR. I ordered a 7-piece and received 3 tenders for $14. If you add THREE more tenders to the THREE you've already given me, ITS NOT SEVEN!!! How hard is that to comprehend?? So he then retrieved one more very small box with ONE very small tender in it served up with a side of bad attitude. Still no apologies, no anything except extremely rude behavior from the "manager" named Luis. I will be calling the corporate office first thing in the morning. If Chicken Express in Tomball is struggling, it may just be the incompetent management that is steering your customers to the competitors. This has been the WORST customer service I've ever encountered. The food took about 30/45 minutes and they had me wait in my car. I called them to ask how much longer it was going to take and the "general manager" told me 3 more minutes. They had obviously forgotten about me because he asked what my order was he acted surprised. Well I waited and waited, finally I came around the window and just asked for a refund. At this point I wasn't even hungry just irritated. The guy REFUSED to give me a refund and said it was against their store policy. I asked to speak to someone above him, because I was just shocked at how rude he was. He answered with "I am the highest person you can talk to, and I will not give you a refund. Just ate here for the first time since this location opened and loved it. We are huge fans of the Magnolia location but since moving to Cypress, that's a bit far for chicken! Was so excited that they came to Tomball. Got here around 5:30 and we were getting out drinks after ordering and they came out with our food before I could add the sweetener to the tea!! We used to drive 35 minutes to go to the Chicken Express in Magnolia for their amazing catfish. Recently, there was a Chicken Express Opened up in Tomball and we were so happy since it is only 10 minutes away. We waited until they were opened for 3 mos before going so they could get all of the bugs cleared out. The catfish came out super fast......bad omen. Magnolia takes at least 20 minutes to get it out. The person who took our order did not include our drinks..so a second order taking by another person was needed. This did not look good. The catfish was FAR inferior, the hush puppies inedible. We will continue to drive the extra miles to go into Magnolia when we want catfish. We were so disappointed since Chicken Express was our favorite fried catfish...even better than Florida's near Lake Livingston. read more

The chicken and the sweet tea were good but the roll was off like it tasted like chemicals! Also the fries were way too salty. I asked for honey at the drive thru and the lady gave me one and they gave me the wrong side even though they read my order back at me correctly. I gave it 5 stars because it is fast comfort food done just right. The restaurant was spotless. The service fast. For $7.57 i had four large chicken tenders cooked perfectly, A biscuit again cooked just right. I chose the mac n cheese from the long list of side choices and it was very good and a large drink. They give you a tub of dipping gravy for the tenders and it is more than enough for the tenders. When you order tenders at Churches you have to ask for dipping sauce and they typically give you one small tub. I drove ten miles to get their because it was Sunday and not a lot going on. My husband wanted chicken fingers so we decided to give the place a try. There were 2 customers ahead of us and they placed their order, sat down and almost instantly got their food. We placed our order and 20 minutes later, we still hadn't been served. The excuse being our fries weren't fresh and our oil wasn't hot. At this point, we asked for our money back and while waiting for the manager to take care of it, I noticed an employee in the back take of his hat, run his fingers through his hair, put the cap back on and did not wash his hands or put on gloves. The manager said she would mention this to the employee. She wanted to give us comp vouchers to return, advised her that we would not return but she insisted on giving them to us. Okay. I visited this place around 8pm on 2/1/18. Whoever prepared the food on this particular night needs to be immediately retrained or never allowed to cook again. Seriously, the quality of the food was unacceptable and down right scary. I came for the catfish, but was told that it would be an 8-10 minute wait. I usually cancel my order when this happens, but instead I settled on a 2 piece chicken meal and chicken strips for my daughter. When I got home and unboxed my food, I noticed that the chicken had a rank smell to it. Like either it had been fried in old, unchanged oil or sitting out for too long and had spoiled. I trashed it because I didn't want to chance getting sick. Btw, I've had their chicken twice before and it never smelled this way. I decided to split my daughter's chicken strips with her since she only eats two and I ordered four. They didn't have the same rank smell as the chicken and appeared fresh, but when we bit into them, the strips tasted so salty that we both spit them out and trashed it as well. At this point my appetite was ruined and I was too scared to eat anything else for fear of getting sick so it all went into the trash. I didn't even bother taking it back for a refund. I know we take a chance when we allow other people to prepare our food, but man, this was an eye opener. Any attempts at customer recovery will be ignored because I will not be returning to this place under any circumstances.
