This little nook in Bayside is always packed with people waiting for their take out order! It's located on the main artery of Northern Blvd, with a small parking lot. When I went this past Thursday early evening, the lot was absolutely packed so I stopped by Starbucks one block down and parked there then walked over. There were a few people sitting and eating, sitting and waiting, and just standing and waiting. It was a bit confusing because sometimes you can't tell whose waiting there to order or worse just waiting to pick up their food. I got one of the lunch specials, which they seem to honor all day (as it was about 6pm when I ordered the special). Half chicken with 2 sides plus a can of soda costs $10 even with tax. There usually is a nice selection of sides such as corn, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, herb roasted potatoes, lightly flavored herb rice, and broccoli. However, they ran out of corn and Mac n cheese when I was there. I was told a 20 minute wait on the Mac n cheese (so yummy! definitely recommend) so settled for roasted potatoes instead. Since it was a busy period and they seemed short staffed, I waited about 15-20 minutes to pick up my order. Once my name was called, it took about another 5 minutes before I actually paid since there's only one register where all transactions are taken care of. The platter also comes with a full pita sliced in half, with one half on top and on the bottom of the chicken. This time around, I felt that the chicken was smaller and less juicy than the first time I had it. The flavorful spicy and creamy green sauce made everything tastier. It's very similar to the Peruvian chicken and green sauce. Make sure you get 2 for your order, 1 is not enough! Ordered the 1/2 chicken 1/2 ribs combo with roasted potatoes and rice pilaf as my two sides. The food tasted great. Had the signature aromatic grilled yet slightly burnt charcoal flavor that I look for. The meats are both very flavorful and moist. Did not need any type of sauce whatsoever. The only downside is the wait for my take out. I was waiting for the ribs to finish and the whole process from ordering to walking out the door took about 40 minutes. They are always very busy. So busy that they don't pick up the phone a lot of times. However, their chicken is the best! Great portion and excellent price! And the food tastes great. Usually order the whole chicken with sides. Their corn and fries are also delicious! Didn't really order ribs or other entrees from them but I'm sure those are not bad either since there is always a long line out the door waiting for orders of every type. My wife and I usually order the 1/2 Rack of Ribs and Two Small Sides for $14.99. Their ribs are to die for and mac and cheese and rice are just as good. Proportion sizes are ridiculously huge as we can never finish in one sitting. Just some advice to call ahead of time to place your order because I can guarantee you that you will be waiting there for a while (Yes, they do get super busy). If you don't, I would still check to see if they are operating because they have ran out of food on several occasions. read more

Holy Moly!! I'm so excited to have found this restaurant that delivers such delicious food on the cheap!! Tonight I ordered the ribs and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was.. The mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese weren't all that, but the meat more than made up for it... I was also thrilled about the green sauce ala Pio Pio... I'm addicted to that stuff... I order from this place with everyone from my job super often, but yesterday was the first time I ate at the location. I have to admit that the flavor and freshness of their chicken cannot be beat by any other chicken or rotisserie place in this area. It was so much more delicious than getting it a little soggy and sweaty in the container from delivery. The sides are generously portioned and I love adding their gravy or BBQ sauce. Though I liked that I could see how they prepare the chicken and actual cool it, I had to take off a star for how sketchy the place looks at first glance. The seating area kind of reminds me of the back of a Penn Station pizzeria. I know they are far more busy with take out orders, but don't neglect the way your business looks inside. They got an A from the health department, but you wouldn't think just by looking in the window or walking by. How am I just finding out about this place?! It's so good! Got a 1/4 chicken with 2 small sides.. sounds like a small meal but I was stuffed and couldn't even finish! They definitely don't skimp on anything. Love their jalapeño sauce too! Food made fresh every day, you'll never get day old food here. I know this because I see them throwing out whatever is left before closing time, and even offering leftover food to customers. It's pretty busy at night time, but it's not bad. They do have a 2 or 3 car parking spot. I do love chicken lovers but nothing can beat Pio Pio! The prices and proportions here are great. I ordered one of their platters with Ribs and chicken and was given a free drink, and I have been eating my leftovers for two whole days so far. This place is by far my favorite place to go for rotisserie chicken and ribs. I find the quality and flavor much better than anywhere else I've been. The combos are all great values especially because you get so much more food than you might expect. $10 for half a chicken and 2 sides is plenty for 2 people, unless you're feeling ambitious. Don't be fooled; a half chicken here proves to be a lot more than other places you've tried before. Never forget to get more green sauce to dip into The ribs are cooked perfectly and fall right off the bone. I haven't tried what else they have to offer minus the chicken and ribs but I'll be sure to make that a priority soon. I looooove this place. I always get take out and frequently order for home catering. The staff and owner are super friendly and helpful. They do get overwhelmingly busy at lunch and dinner but totally worth the wait! Call ahead! Ribs- super juicy and fall off the bone meat. Delicious sauce and I am always craving for more! Good quality meat too! Hot wings- these are my absolute favorite and super addictive! Always a crowd pleaser when I cater for home parties. The food is great but the service sucks. My family loves the ribs from here and we always want to order for our get togethers, however the last one we had we ordered to pick up at 6pm and when we got there they weren't done although they were giving others orders of ribs.. we waited an hour and thirty minutes past our pick up time. And the last time I went I ordered a small order and still had to wait longer than I should have. Three others that ordered after me got their orders before me even though it was the same thing. I'm back with an update on this joint... I stopped in today to try the ribs for lunch. I heard they were great but judging from my 1st visit I wasn't expecting to much... This is a Gold mine. The ribs are always tasty juicy and monstrous. A half rack with sides can feed a few people. Its called chicken lovers but chickens not my thing so i don't get any for myself. I have tried it several times and its good, But the ribs is where its at. The green sauce is 100% necessary to be poured on absolutely everything. Its the best when they put the pita under the ribs and you get to eat that last. The only cons would be that around lunch time they get so busy its impossible to get any food. please do not order online at their website. i ordered at 5pm went to pickup at 6:15pm but they didnt even pack it and 10 people were waiting on their orders backed up. the girl in the front takes a look at my order paper whicj says pickup at 6;02pm she then goes to check and comes back empty . she does that 3times. orders were backed up . this girl should not be managing orders. there were like 6 other workers just hanging around not helping the girl to speed up the process. this is what happens when the owner missing in action and does not have reasonable turn around time. read more

This is a favorite local chicken spot. They have a fairly large grill operation going on cookin' up tasty fresh chicken and ribs. I like it here more than the typical chicken spots because the meat isn't super dry, and is always flavorful. Friendly staff and food is always great! read more

The food here is close to, if not fully deserving of 5 stars. My problem is inconsistency when ordering. Often orders come wrong, this most recent time I was on hold 10 minutes just to be told they were too busy to take any more orders. That would have been nice to know before I wasted 10 minutes on hold. Next time I'll know to hang up if on hold more than a couple minutes. Also unsure/annoyed why French Fries are no longer a side option on their platters. Definitely worth a try.Probably better to go in person if you can. read more

CHICKEN LOVERS IS BACK! Anybody that gave up on CL, you definitely need to venture back! My boyfriend and I came back last weekend 10/4/14 to give it another go. We placed the order online. We gave them ample time or so we thought. We got to CL 40 minutes after the call was placed and the food wasn't ready. It wasn't ready because there was a mistake and they didn't get our order. Another customer that ordered online came shortly before we left and they didn't have his order either. Must've been something wrong with the system. So like I said they didn't have our order. At first we were brushed off by one of the employees but he later corrected the problem and apologized. They were very accommodating. We ended up getting a small free side to soothe the situation. So we finally get our food home and it was ridiculously amazing! The ribs are even better than before! They were cooked to perfection. The rice is super flavorful (it used to be bland). The green sauce isn't as spicy yet delicious! The red potatoes were on point as usual and so was the corn! That Monday I went to work and raved to all my co workers about CL's comeback. Best bang for the buck BBQ in queens and maybe the island! Whenever I need my fix for some bbq chicken or ribs I go here. Their portions are very generous and their staff is attentive and try their best to get your order through with all the madness going on here everyday. Best time to go, would be after the lunch crowd and before the dinner crowd (3pm-5pm), you'll get your food within 5-10 mins without any lines. It gets really busy during lunch hours and dinner is like a war for who gets the last piece of chicken/ribs/mac&cheese. Their meat is usually cooked with a nice char around it, sometimes over burnt but definitely not always. I like my BBQ meat a little on the char side (I know it's bad!) but it brings our great flavor. Their green sauce is what the white sauce is to the halal guys, you just need to put some on your food and you'll love it! I recommend get two, they're always nice about that. And they have a decent selection of sides. I'd say their best is cucumber salad, mac and cheese or french fries. Choice of meat, two sides and a soda will come up to a little over $10! Their chicken is moist and flavorful, the green sauce they give although is really crack sauce is not needed at all, their chicken really is THAT tasty on its own.
