Whole Chicken & Whole Rack of Ribs with Seasoned Baked Red Potatoes, Cucumber Salad, Green Salad, and Rice
Faye Y.

Food first, thoughts after... Oh. My. Goodness. Delicious, delicious, delicious. My brother has been chanting chicken lovers for the longest time. They are always sold put but today through preorder we got it. I'm not a ribs person but their is so good. Sides were delicious and paired just right. Chicken was perfect! My favorite now.

Spread

Items ordered: - Chicken 7/10; can be dry, but the moist parts are 9/10 - ribs 10/10!! - green sauce is 12/10 - Ranking of the sides: cucumber salad, mashed potatoes, corn, mac and cheese (mid, but with the meal it was good), potato, broccoli (steamed), rice

I have to be honest and say I wish they would fix up the outside and clean it up a bit.... the front, entrance etc don't look great. BUT, this place has some good food with good portion sizes for the price. They get super busy and can sometimes take very long to get your order but I believe that's because of the value offered. The food is also always hot and fresh.

You know a restaurant is good when before you finish eating your meal with your friends you order a whole meal to go. The food here is SO GOOD!! and for the price??? They might not do a lot of things but we need more places like this that do an amazing job at what they specialize in. Inside is a bit small and nothing special, staff are really nice but the food here is the selling point. This is a no bs spot where the food speaks for itself. Wish I knew about them when I lived in Bayside.

This was my first time trying Chicken Lovers in Bayside and I didn't realize how popular this place was. We ordered a whole chicken and a half. The chicken was good, but not mind blowing. The ribs... though? Amazing!!! Super juicy, tender, and flavorful! I'd honestly come back just for the ribs alone. And of course, the green sauce was incredible. Chef's kiss! I also really liked the rice. Such a solid combo with the meats. The mac and cheese was just meh.

Insane amount of food at an affordable price. Chicken Lovers is a gem the locals want to keep a secret, but even with that, the restaurant is bustling with orders. We stopped by around 4pm on a Friday and it was about 45min-1hr wait for our order. Those who came after were told the wait time would be about 1.5hrs, so def call ahead. But this all speaks volumes to their demand for the food. Chicken is smokey from the grill but still tender. They also pack on the sides. Potatoes are a little too salty for my preference

Got a whole chicken family meal plus ribs and overall everything was really good. The wait was about 2-3 hours which is kinda long for the chicken but overall everything was really good. The ribs were my favorite being perfectly tender and juicy/sweet and savory balance. The chicken was seasoned well and even the breast wasn't overly dry. Overall, would come again and lot of food for the price.

We ordered from Chicken Lovers from word of mouth and this place is truly was something special. As you enter the establishment, you see staff grilling as people ordered their food. We ordered the whole chicken and whole rack of ribs that came with a few sides for 6 adults and we did not finish the meal because the portions were so generous. The ribs were juicy and fall off the bone, the chicken was smoky and tender that paired perfectly with their green sauce. There is a wait so ordering ahead is the way to go but it is definitely worth the wait.

Keepin it real out here in Bayside Close on Sundays, basically the family own charcoaled version of chick fil a. Food is always fire, and that green sauce is next level, idk whats in there but it's basically the green chil fil a sauce. Takes some time to get your order, can use that time to enjoy the view of the chicken being made. Always a treat to chicken lovers

This place gets very crowded. I never see anybody dine here, but there's always a line. I ordered online and was told the food would be ready in 1 hour!!! This was just ordering it online... I come maybe about 10 to 15 minutes early because I thought maybe itll be ready, I was wrong. They told me itll be another 10 to 15 minutes. I see a bunch of people behind me on line and a bunch of bags behind the counter for take out orders. There's about a staff of 10 people and they're all working and moving. This place definitely has one of the best chicken and ribs since it's always made fresh. The ribs is my favorite, its so tender and falls off the bone. The bbq sauce is just the perfect balance of sweet and savory. If you bring cash, thats the price you see on the menu, if you choose to use credit, it'll be a 3% charge.

Cuisine: 8 Service: 7 Decor: 3 Value: 9 Overall: 8 I honestly love this place. They are unique, delicious, and inexpensive. The perfect combination for a local no frill, no thrills, divey neighborhood joint where I can get a really gut busting high quality meal for a very reasonable price. For over two decades, I have been coming here specifically for their food whenever the craving strikes. They specialize in just two things, which is grilled chicken or BBQ pork ribs. Since it's a far drive, I always get both. The grilled chicken is excellent. Not 100% of the time, but generally very juicy, which is not easy to do with grilled chicken on the bone. They also cut the pieces smaller in order to properly cook them, but it results in more smokiness as well. Btw, don't forget that delicious green sauce. Some people prefer the BBQ pork ribs even more than the chicken. Which are likely steamed and then tossed onto the grill. Always fall off the bone tender, though I would have loved them to be more smoky. Regardless, still quite good. It's 2025, no longer can I get both chicken and ribs here for under $20, which is understandable. However, half a chicken and 10 ribs for about $30 is still very inexpensive. Most people do takeout, but if you dine in, it means you are sitting in a dingy room with semi-sticky tables and slippery floors. If you can get over those issues, then you'll enjoy your food.

Worth Every Minute -- Incredible Food & Even Better People I'll admit -- I had serious doubts placing my order. A two-hour wait for chicken and ribs? I thought, this better be some life-changing food. But after driving 40 minutes, I figured I had come too far to turn back. I ordered a full rotisserie chicken and a half rack of ribs, hoping it would live up to the hype. When I walked into Chicken Lovers, it wasn't some fancy, trendy spot. It felt more like a chicken and ribs factory in the best way possible. The place had a sense of nostalgia and purpose -- workers moving with focus, prepping sides, sauces, and grilling meat. I especially loved the grill-view window where you can watch the team at work. It added excitement to the whole experience and showed just how much passion goes into every order. I had a couple of hours to kill, so I ran errands and came back around 7pm. The cashier, who was really kind, let me know the food wasn't quite ready yet, so I waited inside. And this moment is why I'm writing this five-star review -- and why I'll be back, no matter the wait. While I was waiting, I watched the cashier politely turn away walk-ins, explaining they were sold out for the day. Then a mother and her young daughter came in. She had driven 45 minutes, and all her daughter wanted was ribs. The cashier gently explained they were out -- and you could see the disappointment. But instead of turning them away, he gave them two sides, no charge. That simple act of kindness melted my heart. That's how you create loyal customers. That's what makes a business special. When my food was finally ready, I walked over to the mother and daughter and gave them a few ribs from my order. The mom was so touched -- she wanted to just take one, but I insisted she take more. She smiled, nearly in tears, and said, "These ribs were worth it. You made my day." And let me tell you -- she wasn't wrong. We couldn't even make it home before tearing into the ribs. They were huge, meaty, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone perfect. Some of the best I've had in a long time. When I got home, I realized the cashier had also thrown in some sides, even though I didn't order any -- another small gesture that meant a lot. The rotisserie chicken (especially with the green sauce) was juicy and delicious -- and I'm usually not a rotisserie chicken person (I'm loyal to Pio Pio), but this came close. Still, the ribs were the absolute star. The sides? Amazing. The rice was seasoned beautifully, the corn was sweet, and the mashed potatoes were comforting and creamy. Now I fully understand the wait. It's not just the food -- it's the care, the passion, and the people behind it all. Chicken Lovers, you've earned my loyalty. I'll absolutely be back -- and I'll be bringing friends

At what time of the day are they least busy if you are a walk in?

honestly I saw people do online orders and still had to wait, I walked in and had to wait three hours and some try to call ahead and see what it's looking like

Are their bbq ribs beef or pork?

Pork. Like I said bring some cleanser.

Do they still have that plastic thing by the doorway that they use to keep the cool air or heat 8n?

None that I've seen. Maybe swept to the side but their doors were wide open today.

Why don't they answer the phone? Called like 10 times?

Are their phones working every single time i call noone answer and it rings and rings? Called about every day this week and still no answer

Hm.. they opened recently so maybe you called the week before they reopened. I called for pickup 2-3 times this week and I did have to call them twice all the times because their phones were busy. I never had to call a third time!

Has the location opened again? They said until April 30th.

Sorry, we are remained closed until city officially reopen.

Mashed potatos but no gravy?

They do have sometimes they just forget to put it on the side. You must ask for it just in case.

What is exactly the green sauce and where can I get it?

It's called aji verde sauce and you could buy a slightly watery version from chicken festival which is a couple blocks away, or pio pio has the BEsT sauce and chicken in Jackson heights, they sell it based on size like 3$ for a huge tub.

What is the secret to the delicious chicken?

I believe that it is very fresh chicken which is marinated and spiced, along with being cooked on a seasoned high intensity grill

Upon arrival, I genuinely thought the place was closed--everything looked grimy and unsanitary. The loaded fries were decent but noticeably small for the price, presentation was just OK . The chicken sliders were chewy, and the side of fries was bland and lacked any crispiness. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth a return visit.

Since I love hot chicken, I wanted to try this local spot that advertises itself as Nashville style. I recently had Dave's Hot Chicken so that's my comparison. This business actually used the Dave's stock images on their Yelp photos, so it's clear they are trying to emulate them. The chicken tenders are lightly breaded white meat that is in between juicy and dry, actually a little juicier than Dave's. The breading is light and crunchy, but not very flavorful. They deliver on spice though! I ordered two sliders: one medium and one extra hot. I will say their spice levels are accurately named. The medium was just a hint of heat, while the extra hot made my head sweat. The person working there mentioned they couldn't do two different spice levels for an order of tenders+side, but only if I ordered sliders+side. Really not sure why they operate that way since the chicken would be prepared the same way. They did write the spice levels on the inside of the lid to distinguish between the two sliders. The fries were just average fries with a hint of Cajun seasoning sprinkled on. I thought the potato buns were the right choice due to the fluffiness, paired with the light crunch of the chicken with the pickles and house sauce, which was a low-heat spicy mayo rendition. Not very flavorful. The actual interior was not the cleanest and it didn't seem very well maintained. The tables were not wiped down and overall seemed a bit dingy.

I was in the mood for some Blood Rice Cakes, so I stopped by just as they opened for the day. One of the kitchen staff handed me the order, and I should have double checked it then, but I didn't think to since we were there as they opened (they must have gotten other orders already!). Upon arriving home, I realized they gave me the wrong order. We called them, and they has also realized the error and offered to remake the order. We headed back to pick up the correct order. They give a decent portion, and the spiciness is always on point. Be warned that the Hot is like pure spicy! What I ordered: -Blood Rice Cakes (Mild): good chewy texture. It's mild in flavor, so might be better with a Medium spicy. -Turnip Cakes (Medium): nice soft interior, and a crisp exterior. Good turnip flavor, that is not overpowered by the spicy. What was mistakenly given to me (eaten the next day - reheated): -Legend Pops (Medium?): Good ratio of breading to chicken. Best to reheat this by toaster oven to crisp up a little. The chicken held up well. -Sweet Potato Fries with Honey Mustard: Good soft texture and sweet potato flavor. I am happy that they have this location, since it is much easier to stop by, and there is seating if I choose to eat in.

Then for rosé flavor, which is literally just adding heavy cream to the sauce, is an extra $6. Then we ordered the 10 wing + 5 drumstick combo and we asked for half/half sauce assuming half of the 15 pieces are one sauce and the second half is another sauce. First off, they charge you $2 for sauce, which is fine but tell me why they charged us $2 FOUR times. So $8 total for sauce bc they separated the 10 wings into 5 and 5 and put one sauce each and they charged $2 each for that. And then they separated the 5 drumsticks into 3 and 2 and put one sauce each and charged $2 each for that. So total for 10 wings & 5 drumsticks was around $44. I've literally been to every korean fried chicken place on northern blvd and never have they separated the chicken like that and charged the sauces that way. Like why are you charging us for sauce 4 times when it is one single order of chicken. Never coming back here. Its a legit rip off. On top of that, they charge you for to-go containers, which is free at every restaurant. They just charge you exorbitant prices for literally every single thing here. We spent $85, not including tip, on tteokbokki, 15 pc of chicken & an order of fries.

The menu has very detailed, almost elevated descriptions that make everything sound spectacular, but in practice the flavors don't quite come through, especially the sauces, which are barely noticeable. Our server was flexible when we asked to swap the potato chips for fries on the kids' grilled cheese meal, which we appreciated. However, we were then charged $1.40 for a side of ranch for the fries. I understand they have a range of specialty sauces and dips that are clearly priced on the menu, but that still felt steep for ranch. They also offer a combo option to add fries for $5, but the portion doesn't really feel aligned with the price. The steak sandwich itself was surprisingly tender, even though it looked like it might be tough. That said, I couldn't taste the roasted red pepper sauce, and the "sweet onion jam" turned out to just be caramelized onions. My mother actually ended up picking them out because she doesn't eat onions. (she won't eat onions that she can see) The buffalo cauliflower was tasty, but could have been crispier. The "serves two" description also felt a bit generous given the small portion. I also ordered a brisket sandwich to go with fries. The coleslaw sounded great on the menu, but in reality the flavors didn't stand out, no real hint of jalapeño, just a fairly standard slaw. Overall, the food descriptions felt more impressive than the actual execution, though the to-go fries portion was more generous, which was a nice surprise. Would I go back? I'm not sure. Maybe for a casual visit with a few beers and fries with an assortment of dipping sauces...I am a sucker for those.
