The place is fairly small and gets busy so if you have a larger party I would make a reservation. It is a really cute place and the decor makes it very cute for pictures and if you're lucky enough to get seated at the front, there's a bright couch that falls under the nice decor. :) The staff were great and attentive! They worked quickly and the food didn't take long to come out. Here's what we ordered: - Dan Dan noodles : packed with so much flavor. The noodles are on the thinner side, I prefer a thicker one but regardless it was very good. - truffle pork soup dumplings : omg! My favorite dish out of everything we ordered. The truffle taste was in the soup and the dumpling itself was nice and juicy. Must get! - Szechuan chili oil wontons: this was good but didn't stand out much compared to the others. Safe bet to order if you're unsure of other items. - truffle egg fried rice: I was skeptical of this because sometimes the truffle taste isn't there because of other seasonings but this was fantastic. I'm not sure what was ordered as one of our partner made the selections that he felt would be agreeable for everyone (see images). Finally got around to trying this place and I'm glad I did. I ordered online and picked it up for takeout, I live just a few blocks away. I got the General Tso chicken, chicken and spring onion soup dumplings, and the chive pork potstickers. Overall the food had great flavor and was clearly made from great, fresh ingredients. The sauce on the chicken was so good I almost saved it to put on other food in the future; I didn't want to throw it away it was so yummy. My only complaint was that I wish the chicken held up to stay a little more crunchy, but that's always a risk with takeout. I loved the soup dumplings, would def get those again. Interesting experience, food was decent, unfortunately I don't see myself returning here anytime soon. We came during happy hour on a whim. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Food - We ordered the chili oil wontons and dan dan noodles off of the happy hour menu, plus a half hong kong roast duck. I would say my top item of the three were the chili oil wontons at a 4/5. Flavor was good, and there were a good number of wontons in the dish (maybe even more than what DTF and Dough Zone serve) - however the wontons themselves were a tiny bit smaller, so it evens out. The chili oil sauce had a good flavor and spice, but it kind of seemed to roll off the wontons, leaving a soupy chili oil bowl. The dan dan noodles were even soupier, which just felt odd for dan dan noodles. The chili flavor and ground meat and peanuts were tasty though. The noodles were cooked well, just oddly looked more like soba noodles - but they tasted good. Decent portion size too - overall a 3.5. With the duck, I will say I'm more used to like a Beijing style duck, so I give this some leeway as it's not a style I'm as familiar with. The meat was tender in most places which is quite good for duck, since it can be hard to cook evenly. The skin was a little over charred in some spots, but still had a good crunch and flavor, not being too tough. My biggest quip with the duck was that it was a little bonier than most ducks I've had - one of the drumsticks had literally no meat in it, just skin. Overall 3.5/5. Service: Staff was nice and seated us quickly. We found it a bit odd that we were sat in front of the entrance, despite most tables being open when we got there. They came and refilled water, otherwise were pretty hands off despite it not being busy, but very nice when serving. 4/5 Ambience: I gotta say the ambience of this place confuses me a lot. It's halfway between being decorated like an upscale bar (dim lighting, ambient lights, fancy restaurant water jugs, small square tables), and a very casual family oriented homestyle restaurant (classic Chinese chalkboard menu, one big round table with cushioned chairs at the front, red envelope decor). Like half of the restaurant says "classy date night" and one corner of it says "classic homestyle Chinese restaurant." Given the surrounding area, and the fact that more than half the pages of the regular menu is alcohol, I assume they're trying to cater more to the younger nightlife crowd. The experience just felt a bit disjointed - hence 3/5. Overall not bad, but probably wouldn't return. If I did, I would maybe come to try the soup dumplings since we didn't get a chance to - but it's a hard sell knowing Dough Zone and Din Tai Fung are close by (and the price range is close to that of DTF). read more

Truffle Pork XLB were great. As good as any XLB should be and if you're a truffle lover like me then this is truly the perfect dish for you. Dan Dan Mian Chili Oil Noodles give you that level of heat you can expect from a Szechuan pepper profile. It is not my favorite, but I can appreciate that it's well prepared. If you love the thin-noodles-with-a-kick-of-heat type of vibe then this option will be the best fit for you. Garlic Fried chicken wings were certainly made to order and scorching hot when they came out for me. If the food doesn't borderline burn my entire mouth when it is served then I don't want it! It satisfies all criteria for a good chicken wing. Crispy, well seasoned, and great flavor. Can't complain here. Szechuan Chili Oil Wontons - Alike the Dian Dian Mian Chili Oil noodles, you'll really have to have preference for that Szechuan flavor because you'll get a lot of it here! I was really looking forward to trying out their XLB dumplings, but I was not allowed to eat inside the restaurant and could only order togo because they were "closing". The roasted pork was on the sweeter side but it was really tender! The servers were nice and attentive. Just a couple of down sides- the fried crab wontons are made with imitation crab, I know most places do this, but I was just really hopeful. Came here with my sister and her boyfriend for dinner Thursday night and left very full and happy. We made a reservation but surprisingly it wasn't busy Thursday night. There wasn't a single item on the menu that we didn't enjoy, but highly recommend the traditional soup dumplings, the chili oil wontons, the black truffle fried rice, and the honey walnut prawns. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night around 6pm and were seated immediately, although it got really busy shortly after so would probably recommend a reservation if you have more than 2 people in your party. Dan Dan Mian - The Dan Dan Mian is very soup-y and the primary flavors I tasted were vinegar and fermented black bean/soy sauce. It wasn't necessarily bad; it was still tasty, just a very different flavor than the typical Dan Dan Mian. Pretty light on the spice and sesame flavor. Truffle Fried Rice - It was pretty lightly seasoned, though it has a bit of umami from the truffle flavor. I personally felt that the rice was a little too dry. XLB - Overall, pretty good. The dumpling skin has a nice consistency and the flavor of the soup was good. The wrapping technique could use some improvement, since the point where you pinch the baozi closed is pretty thick and doughy and the pleats are not very clean.
