Came to Chilis, before watching Wicked, and "I couldn't be happier." This Chili's is conveniently located on the Westfield Mall property and has great exposure to the busy Route 17. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly host team and we waited no more than 5 minutes to be seated. I enjoy the Chilis Strawberry Lemonade and this one was on point. The other drink was Wicked related, The Good Witch Margarita. Pink in color and served in a large glass. The entrees were: Chipotle Chicken Fresh Mex Bowl (Grilled chicken, pico, shredded lettuce, Mexican rice, corn salsa, guacamole, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, cilantro, drizzled with pesto and house-made ranch). The next was the Santa Fe Grilled Chicken Salad (Grilled chicken, pico, house-made guacamole, cilantro, tortilla strips, house-made ranch, and spicy Santa Fe sauce on the side). The final entree was the Grilled Chicken Cajun Pasta (Grilled chicken, penne in Alfredo sauce, topped with chili spices, Parmesan, tomatoes, green onions, with garlic toast). Every item was flavorful, very filling, and the ambiance...which was a packed house...added to the enjoyment of the meal. One night after one of my son's baseball games, he chose Chili's for dinner. It was very busy when we got there but luckily since there was only 3 of us, they had a table good to go right away. The young lady that helped us was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. She told us that she just graduated HS. I wish I remembered her name because she truly deserves recognition for the above and beyond service that she provided. We ordered a few apps and as she promised, they didn't come out or overlap with our dinner. The kid got boneless wings as usual and the wife and I got the nachos. For dinner, I was in the mood for the chicken crispers, so I went with those and got the Texas fries and loaded mashed potatoes. Yeah, I know... double starch. My grandmother hated when I did that, but that's me. All the food was very good. Service was beyond great and everything was clean. Our drinks never went empty on this busy night. I got the fried mozzarella, honey chipotle chicken crispers and boneless wings in the sweet chili zing sauce My favorite had to be the fried mozzarella!! The cheese pull was insane and they served it with warm marinara sauce. The honey chipotle chicken crispers were also really good. The ranch is meh. Not much ranch flavor. I didn't like the sweet chili zing sauce. I absolutely love Chilis but our usual location hasn't had the best service the last few times we went. This location is about the same distance so we decided to try it and it was a mistake. We visiting on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. Our waiter appeared annoyed the entire time; I don't think I saw him smile at all. We ordered appetizers and that came out fine. My partner ordered a burger, I ordered steak, and my son had chicken fingers & fries. I ordered my steak medium well and when I received it, it was well done. I didn't say anything because my partner received a completely different burger than what he ordered so I didn't want to complain about a 2nd dish. He ordered a Santa Fe burger and received a regular bacon burger. He told the waiter so he took the food back and went to get the correct order. The Santa Fe burger has guacamole... I wish I had taken a photo of it because it was extremely disappointing. It looked like the guac had been sitting for a while it was already getting dark and they slabbed a small chunk on only one side of the burger so he had to spread the little bit he had so it could at least be distributed evenly. He took the first bite and the burger was not really hot AND was completely pink. They had not cooked it. My partner was disgusted and asked them to just take the burger. He had lost his appetite at that point. I regret not having taken a photo of the disaster of a burger he received. This visit was extremely disappointing in several ways and I won't be returning to this location again. read more

Excellent dinner! Went with 3 for me with upgrades! Don't pass up the chips with 3 out of 5 dips to choose for $3.99. We chose guacamole, skillet queso and salsa. Other options were ranch or white queso. Cajun shrimp Alfredo with Texas toast was creamy and not too spicy! Bacon cheeseburger and fries were excellent. Shark month margarita was yummy and went down like punch. Waitress was attentive and so kind. Place was clean including bathrooms. No complaints at all! I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it for myself, but the service at this Chili's was the worst I've had in at least a generation. Whether it's a result of workers staying away from grueling, poorly compensated, public-facing jobs since the outbreak of Covid-19 or whether it was just a fluke may be for someone else to determine, but the effect remains the same. (I will say that they must be hurting for wait staff because the help wanted sign out front promised benefits beyond what seemed normal.) Visiting the restaurant for a late Sunday lunch with three children, our family was promptly and pleasantly greeted and seated. The young gentleman took our drink orders soon afterward, and everything went swimmingly. Two of the three kids' meals came out, followed by mine and my partner's, and still my draft beer was nowhere to be found. The final meal came out, and still no beer, oh, and could we please get straws for those lidded kids' drinks? My beer finally arrived, looking like a glass of amber-colored water with nary a bubble to be seen. "How is everything?" asked a nice woman who was not our server. "Great, but this beer is completely far." She offers to let our server know, and when he reappears after what seems like years later, he conveys that the keg was tapped (while using none of those words) and that my pint glass contained beer that was half from the old keg and half from the new keg, which seemed highly unlikely because tap water has more carbonation than what was in front of me. Only after the kids had finished their dessert and random servers started clearing our plates did someone (again, who wasn't our server) ask if anyone would like a refill on their drinks. Normally, I'd say sure in order to get our money's worth, but I was happier to finish the experience sooner rather than later. The bill arrives, and not only was nothing compared due to the beer delay (which is not great but understandable), but I was charged for both the flat beer I sent back as well as the replacement bottle. I notify the nice lady who was not our server, and a while later another woman who I imagine to be the manger, returns after splitting the bill to place the beer on a separate tab (but not void it out). I ended up leaving only a 20 percent tip instead of my customarily more generous gratuity because I understand it's not an easy job, much less to do well, but a little common sense and customer service would have been extremely welcome. Oh, and the food was decent if uninspiring. The burger was misshapen and cooked a little more than medium (even slightly charbroiled), but the lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh, and it all tasted good. Next time, a good diner might be preferable. read more

I ordered chicken wings from "It's Just Wings" which is located in Chilis and I was given slimy, gooey chicken which indicates bacteria from raw chicken sitting out for too long. Giving this restaurant 2 stars because our server was nice and the food was ok. The manager on duty on June 25th at 1:00 pm was horrible. He was so lazy and inattentive. He stood by with his arms crossed just watching all of the employees trying to keep up with their tables and did nothing to help. I stopped him to ask for silverware after my food came out and instead of him doing something so simple he had another server which wasn't even tending to our table go and get it. Our server had about 6 tables to herself plus she was also the bar tender that day. Totally ridiculous. Please don't come here expecting quick service or anyone to pay attention to their tables. Every single time I order chicken crispers and fries to-go from this location the food comes out stale and cold. This time was no exception. Not only were the chicken and fries obviously old and stale/reheated, they only gave me one order of fries when I paid for two. In the past I've brought the food back inside to let the manager see for themself and I've been given gift cards as an apology (since I had to drive all the way back to the store from home). This time it was too frustrating to make the return. The fact that I can predict that my food will be old and stale speaks volumes to the quality standards here. This is my local Chili's and let's just say, my kids LOVE Chili's. This Chili's has been the savior of food during the pandemic. We use them a lot for curbside pick up and take out. The food is pretty consistent and I always know my kids will actually eat a lot for dinner. When it comes to finding food for ourselves - my husband and I tend to stick to the guiltless menu because those calories can get up pretty high on their regular menu. Though tempting, we try to stick to the "healthier" options. I'll have their grilled chicken salad, or mango chili chicken. My husband usually does the 3 for $10 deal. The food is always fine, nothing special, but you always know what you are going to get. When picking up your food, it would best serve you to double check that everything is there and/or correct. Often I've come home and things have been missing or incorrect, so I've learned to check before leaving. The service has always been pretty decent, and I know they are super short staffed so I'm sure it's not easy working in there. Also, if you go to Chili's a good number of times consider joining their rewards program. I will use a reward on every visit whether it be for a free kid's meal, or for free chips and salsa... even a free dessert every now and then! read more

This is my local Chili's and for me the star of their menu is their ribs. Unexpected right? Every time I have had them they have been consistently delicious, tender, juicy, fall off the bone tender and oh so tasty. I think their regular BBQ is the best choice even though I normally like a little more.kick. Just ask for some spicy dipping sauce and you are set. I prefer their mashed.over the fries because they stay stay hot longer. You are served your meal in a metal tray on a paper mat which I didn't really like. I think plates keep food warmer longer and give a better presentation. The ribs are on their 2 for $25 dinner special. You share a dessert, we had the onion petals which were okay. You also share a dessert of either a.warm chocolate chip cookie served in a little skillet with a scoop of ice cream, yummy stuff or a good size piece of cheese cake with a berry drizzle. If you join the Chili's rewards club you also get warm chips and salsa for free each visit and those are really nice especially if you have them with a margarita. Of course there is a margarita deal so I couldn't not get one, right? For an extra $5 you can get one but watch your bill because it ran up wrong. Poor Chili's... the Rodney Dangerfield of casual chain restaurants. Just taken for granted, never shown respect, probably never gonna be a part of a ROTD. And unfortunately most people probably only bother to write a review after a bad experience and forgot about all the better times they were there. Full disclosure: my family definitely had one of those really bad experiences years ago. And we stayed away for a while. But we found our way back. Because... it's pretty reliable, it's pretty inexpensive and - it has booze. It's that perfect place that's close to home, the menu is as big as a Jersey diner's, you know for the most part it'll be good (there's hits and misses of course - my peeve is how much salt seems to be used on a lot of their stuff and their side of beans in things like their fajitas are not good by any measure). They're not looking to win a Michelin star and I can appreciate a place that knows its lane and stays there. Ridiculously priced (with tip we can skate by around $10 a person). Large portions. Good-sized bar with plenty of TV's (not for us old folks that left our partying days behind us years ago). Servers and staff - always pleasant and do their best to stay on top of the action. (Our most recent 'visit' was for #YelpsBigNightIn and I have nothing but respect for everyone working in restaurants and now bringing the food to my car - with a smile! - during these unsettling times.) Review has nothing to do with either the food or service. Both are always great. Beware when checking out via the tablet. Do not accept the recommended tip amounts and instead do your own calculations. The suggestions for tips via the tablet are calculated to include a tip on the tax as well as the food! Happened to me 2x and I had the receipts sent to my email. Totally unacceptable. Industry standard is to calculate tips based on the food cost only. Not the tax and food. This was my first time back in many years I love the new look - great remodel Service was quick. Our server was Alyssa - she was a rockstar. Was helpful with choosing our dishes. Got food to our tables quickly and perfectly timed. We never felt rushed. Checked back several times to make sure we were doing okay. It was a Friday night - semi busy but she still managed to get our orders quickly, get our food out on time and refill our drinks without asking. I had not been here in some time and I loved all the dishes, everything was really good. The wings and ribs were delicious. Im a big fan of the quesadillas too. Very good experience at the Chili's East Rutherford location the past few times we've ordered here. Our most recent order was placed through the app which was very convenient, easy to navigate, and had the option to pay ahead of time and use curbside pickup (perfect/safe way to order during COVID-19). All order notes were followed and the food was made promptly and was very tasty. Overall value was excellent, we were able to get salads, chips & queso/salsa, ribs, cajun pasta, chicken crispers, four sides, and a cheesecake for under $50. Awesome deals for both rewards and non-rewards members, menu has a large variety of options, quality of the food is great, and overall service exceeded expectations.
